PV love interests

I've seen most of ayu's PVs and I've noticed that she never has some guy play her love interest in any of them. Especially her love songs! I've never seen her grinding up next some hottie in her fast songs either. Does anyone know why? Is ayu really shy around guys?

LacusClyne 9th February 2006 05:35 AM

maybe ayu felt that there's no need for that. afterall, our ayu is different from others. she's unique, she does not follow threads. she's the thread starter, which is what i'm proud of.

There was that guy in the Voyage PV....

I've seen other J-Pop PVs by other artist and they usually have "love" interests in their videos.

Maybe because she has a boyfriend? Could you give some examples of other Jpop singers that usually have a love interest?

~*Mabushii*~ 9th February 2006 05:43 AM

maybe because she's so into the whole girl/woman power thing?
I think the closest we ever got was the cute guys in My names WOMANs PV.. but even t hat wasn't remotely close.. but I think thats the first time she was really all close to guys in a pv I can remember..
it

hopeorpain 9th February 2006 05:56 AM

voyage was from the short movie clip. so, that should not be counted.

yeah i agree!

i'm actually really glad that Ayu don't make many love scenes in her PV's, i find it pathetic and boring sometimes, especially when they start to kiss or something :irked voyage was okay it wasn't like those typical guy and girl love

I'm not just talking about making out. It's like if the song is about love or heartbreak or whatever usually there would be scenes acted out between the singer and a love interest. Like if he broke her heart and she leaves or if they're in love and they're holding hands or looking at each other smiling... stuff like that.

I think it's because most of her songs arent about that kind of "love."

Some songs are about the love of her friends, mother, grandma, father. Everyones always labeling thing as "love" as in a lover, when it isnt always the case. Sometimes I think she might not have that because she wants you to relate to the song more on your own level and not hers.

Tasked 9th February 2006 08:25 AM

Ayu just doesn't want to share the spotlight :p She is the leading star in the PVs =)

devilayu 9th February 2006 03:44 PM

I think there's a certain level of image control regarding Ayumi and how much contact she has with other men. On one Music Station appearance, a male singer inched close to Ayumi as a joke and she (rather exaggeratingly) jumped up and screamed.

Also, it might not be deemed appropriate in her PV's for her to get really close to another guy.

Francotirador 9th February 2006 04:11 PM

In the Intro of Carols from Arena Tour 2005 she perform one pair scene.

I think when ayu do some romantic scene in pv it will be very subtle and not obvious, as really it happens in the real pairs. Ayu prefers the details of the feelings, what really produces the tickle.

See ya!!!

I saw that episode, was kinda funny. :P
I don't think Ayu has videos where she is getting close to guys is because its not really her thing. It's like not her style or something. Even with her faster dance type songs, I don't expect to see her in a PV where she is grinding up against guys.

AyuMayu 9th February 2006 07:47 PM

Koda Kumi always has "love interests"...

oh? i saw that bit but i thought she screamed because Ayu was a big fan of him?

chibi_sunny 9th February 2006 10:58 PM

^ O_o i didn't know that...
but may be she want her fans to make up stuff about her and her private life...that could destroy her image. Also she doesn't want to dependent; after all, she is the central character of the PVs.

hopeorpain 9th February 2006 11:34 PM

Ayu wants a wider audience^^and too many love scenes would hinder that.

orenji_jaro 10th February 2006 12:20 AM

doing that to her MVs woudl ruin her image...
ayu is very clean and not flirty not always be with boys always...
havingg love interest is only a show-off on a career.... if i was to direct a pv i won't use too much of flirty love interest scene.. or whatever... ^____^v

Teh Rii-Sama 10th February 2006 12:27 AM

. . .

Um, what about the "Because of you" pv? o_o; Doesn't that fall into the "love interest" catagory?

AyuGAME 10th February 2006 01:17 AM

and i don't want to see she doing something like that
her conceptual PV is really COOL

Kikaru 10th February 2006 05:02 AM

Ayu's songs, IMO, always centered around a "solitary image", and to be honest, I found it a more powerful feeling. Ayu, for one thing, is not a girl-next-door type of singer. She sings about love, but it's always a different kind of love. Her kind of love is not the typical girlish-love for a guy. Her detached, alone image in her music video, especially in ballads, makes the video more touching for me.

Even in her somewhat of a "love for a guy" video, is this LOVE? The lyrics of the song sounds like she's almost thinking it to herself, instead of actually saying it to the guy. Having a solitary image of herself, in her apartment, with things destructing around her, is a way more powerful image then interaction with a guy. At least IMO it is.

Like I said before, she's not a girl-next-door type of singer. All of the guys in her music video is rather plot devices in a way. (the guy in Because of You was to demonstrate in a way...prostitution. The Guy in My Name's WOMEN was dancing with Ayu, but that's because she's showing dominance, and it goes with the lyrics. The few dancers from Fairyland are no more than the "people" that abandoned her when "trouble" occurs.)

Considering how her early lyrics was generally about her lonliness as a child, Ayumi generally doesn't show human interaction too much in her PV at all. If it's human, it normally stands out and used as a plot device.

YES!! THERE IS!! but its herself... remember rainbow pv?

Cyria 10th February 2006 08:08 PM

Kikaru, I really like what you said. I think of Ayu as pretty solitary too, and her PVs are moving in my opinion when they're clearly about her and the song, instead of focusing on some handsome guy who we'll never see again the way a lot of music videos seem to do.

cybermoomba 11th February 2006 05:10 AM

All of you made some very good points. :)

no. i think you got the idea wrong. rainbow is about ayu comforting her old self. her old self was very unconfident and the ayu now is comforting her. or something like that.
it's not a love interest.
