Britney Spears and husband Kevin Federline are telling friends that they're expecting a second child — less than six months after their first, Sean Preston, was born.

"I'm pregnant!" revealed the 24 year-old pop star to another woman in the spa at Maui's Four Seasons Hotel where Britney, Kevin and their baby son are staying.

Federline, 27, also delivered the bombshell baby news to a friend, who told Star: "Kevin said, 'Britney's pregnant again,' and when I expressed surprise he said, 'Yeah, it shocked the sh-- out of me too.'"

Before they flew March 1 to Maui — where they're staying in the $12,000-a-night Presidential suite — Britney and Kevin looked like they were headed for a split. Kevin's broken promise to spend Valentine's Day with Britney prompted her to take baby Sean and jet off to Hawaii, leaving Kevin at home alone in Los Angeles.

But with news of a second baby on the way, the couple appear to have called a truce. "Britney seems very cheerful and happy, an eye-witness at the Four Seasons told Star. "She certainly looks pregnant. And she doesn't seem to be making any effort to disguise the fact. She's wearing clothes that clearly show a large tummy bump."

I think it's a bit too hard to care for two little children... not only because it is Britney. Children always mean to bear responsibility for them and that's not so easy if you are young and have two very small children who are crying and so on...

So, KFed has four kids: '02, '04, '05, '06, with two different mothers. And he doesn't even seem to care. He never looks affectionate in paparazzi photos. They should put his picture next to the word loser in dictionaries.

Yeah, I just can't seem to associate him with the word "dad". I never saw a picture where he was happy with his baby or anything. I think he doesn't really care and he's just using Britney. Well that's what we all think anyway..

It's just, unbelieveable how a woman can have babies one after another, especially after putting her child on her lap while she was driving. She's an idiot.
She has a kid, ignorantly; and still young, then has ANOTHER one when she hasn't even lost the FIRST babies weight she put on, or had time to spend time with her first child.
Now that child will have a sibling to bother them for the rest of their life.

Maybe she relied too much into the transient amenorrhea and protection offered by high serum levels of prolactin during the first few months of exclusive breast feeding. :shrug It happens with a lot of women, they end up relying way too much in that protection offered. A person I know has just gotten pregnant for the second time because of that.

I wonder why people are so judgemental over her though.....it's her life and she decides whether she wants kids or not. And one isolated moment of carelessness doesn't necessarily make her a bad mother by default in my opinion.

Well if you don't know how she is outside of the cameras you can't judge her as not being responsible. The fact an isolated moment of carelesness was caught by papparazzi and turned into scandal is not a definite proof. The media love to turn anything into a catastrophe. How many parents are considered responsible and actually don't take the proper measures of safety in their houses to avoid children accidents? It's just always so easy for people to sit and judge others. I'm not defending britney, maybe she's actually not responsible, but that's not for us to judge.

Well I guess congrats.. but I know first hand that another baby will not do any good for their marriage at all..

Like I said, I work in childcare and have worked in it for the past four years so I know "questionable" behavior when I see it. And no I'm not just talking about the who driving-w/-the baby-in-her-lap incident (don't even get me started on that). Getting pregnant again so soon after having a child is not only irresponsible, if your body isn't ready for it, it can be very dangerous. To her and the child. It just bothers me, that's all. Bothers me a lot.

Anyway, if she is pregnant again, best of luck to her children.

Yeah, but the point is, everyone gains weight when they have a child, even famous people. But even my mom said, "I didn't even gain that much weight on my second child." But for Britney, Its Hollywood. It's not normal life, people watch everything she does. She has stalkers, she has the paparazzi, etc.

And you can't really say I say the things about I do because I dislike her. If I disliked her, I wouldn't have 3 CDs, a folder, and 2 posters of her. It's pretty much because it's true. She's gained ALOT of weight. She used to be like.. stick skinny. Stick skinny people don't usually gain so much weight on their first child.

what some people DONT seem to be getting here is for SOME women its NORMAL to gain 55+ pounds while pregnant.. and we are talking STICK SKINNY people here.. and NOT STICK SKINNY people as well

don't believe me? I'm a host at a message board of women who just had babies in June of 2005. A few of the ladies there gained 55lbs while pregnant, sure they lost alot of it, and no their doctors didn't worry. For me, I gain around 12-20lbs while pregnant.

Every woman will gain weight differently during pregnancy, and some will gain it differently EVERY pregnancy. So just because someones mom didn't gain "that much weight while pregnant with their second" doesn't mean that someone else isn't gonna gain "that much weight" while pregnant with their first.. second.. third.. what have you..

unless of course your mother happens to be directly related to Britney (doubtful) her genetics and Britneys genetics CAN NOT and SHOULD NOT be compared here. and who really cares how much weight she gains? Hollywood needs to buttout already.. poor girl.. I may not like her, but at least people don't need to trash on her for gaining weight while pregnant for the sake of the gods.. even if you eat perfectly healthy you can gain a ton. It's NORMAL and happens...

That's true. IF a person can split their time equally among children, it's all good. You still see siblings being neglected because their parents probably don't give that much attention to them (for reasons I don't know why). But, I see it is hard for women to lose the weight, with the baby keeping one busy and all :nod ..a new mother has no time to do any working out with a child that needs tending to 24/7.

However, it's normal to gain 55 pounds during pregnancy? I thought that it's not good to gain a lot, especially that much during pregnancy. My mom gained 20 pounds for my brother (first child) and gained 40 pounds for me. My mom was kind of heavy after giving birth to me also. When my mom had my brother, she ate healthy stuff, and for me, she craved chocolate, so maybe the growth of the child inside of the stomach and WHAT you put into your mouth is what contributes to the weight gain?

I don't think there's any need to diss Britney or feel sorry for the baby.

In theory isn't a young & healthy family whose parents are able to spend all their time with their kids if they want withouth worrying about finances for the rest of their life and they have access to everything (: best healthcare , schooling , help like annies and so on...) the best possible family to have ? in theory :P

even if the kids get ignored by britney & kevin , they have pro-nannies to looks after them. plenty of kids have been raised by nannies and they've turned out just fine & trauma-free.
no matter what the kids are gonna end up just fine & living a privilidged life style only a fraction of people have.

While financial success reduces the likelihood that these children will be abused or neglected, it doesn't necessarily mean the parents are responsible >.> Having too much money is a breeding ground for problems anyways~

Personally, I don't think Britney seems to be mature enough to have children. Even if she is 24, she herself comes off as such a child in interviews.

Give Britney a break guys...This is will be her SECOND child, not 10th or 20th. But those stretch marks won't easily go away so her "singing" career is over.

Have you ever seem a real baby? I've seem hundred of babies and this one looks rather normal and healthy (a baby playing is a very good sign that they are healthy, if he were tired he wouldn't be playing like he is in the picture, he would just be quiet). I don't see where are you seeing dark circles: babies are chubbier so it's likely that in bad angled pictures a shade will most likely appear surrounding the eyes. Plus have you never seem pictures that are taken the exact moment a person blinks? It looks like the person is stoned or dumb, so why can't you assume something rather obvious like that happened when they took the picture? it's not like the kid is facing the camera directly and making a pose to appear in the photo.

Sorry guys but you are trying way too hard to prove that Britney is a bad mother. Take the judgement to yourselves when you raise your own children. The way she takes care of her children is none of our business, honestly.
