wow. fairyland is indeed expensive. but to me, the PV seems to be average when compared to other PVs.

^Money and quality doesn't always go hand in hand :). Well, the PV is very well made and I enjoy it very much, but it's not one of her best.

I can't stand fire so I cried when the tree house burned down... xD I love the pv, but it's still a lot of money and it isn't that special either xD

oh i didnt know that, how about Utada's? wasnt 1 of Utada's PV more expensive than Ayu's?

What's funny about that list, is I don't think ANY of those videos are that great. :) Just shows that a big budget does not always equal the best video. The only ones on that list that are really good are November Rain and fairyland, but even fairyland could have been better on a 2 mil. budget.

however, if you go to that site, there is no mention of fairyland. i think an ayumi fan just came along after the fact and edited the page and then listed avex as a reference. the avex site does not state that the fairyland pv is the 8th most expensive video. sorry. :shrug

That's part of the list. Notice they don't mention Madonna on that site either and yet she's still listed.

i'm just saying that someone most likely went back and added fairyland in. to know for sure we'd have to see a list of the most expensive japanese videos as well. and what about videos from europe and the rest of asia? i'm not buying it.

and notice that there is no source for where they got this info? i'm sorry, but i don't trust anything that has no sources cited.

Yeah, it's obvious that list isn't official, but it's in the ballpark.

Well, that 'so you wanna' page has some things that are quite a bit under 2million USD~

So Ayu's STILL quite high on the list. Max Matsuura even said Ayu had one of the most expensive PVs in Japan~ :D

Usually a music video is made on 4,000,000 to 10,000,000 yen.
I think EXILE's are like, between 40-50,000,000.
It's not really great to spend that much,

If this list is even close to the truth that's sorta amazing that in the middle of all these American artists we have Ayu. awesome. Out of all those i really only liked Scream and Victory. Scream was awesome altho i don't know if it was worth 7 million but an awesome video nonetheless.

Scream is ok. But the only videos on that list that I really liked a lot were fairyland, Express Yourself, and November Rain. And November Rain is the only video on the list that is viewed as a "classic" in music videos. Interesting that Axl paid for that video out of his own pocket.

I love scream, but taking it's budget into consideration I like fairyland better.. hehe :).

paying all major media to shut up our Hawaiian news - 250 000
burning the house - 100 000
getting everyone there - 75 000
security - 60 000
helicopter (+ cameraman) - 30 000
transportation (to and from places) - 10 000

did you guys realize that ayu's the only asian star...which means fairyland is the most expensive pv in asia

I donæ't think the PV itself was the big cost here, but rather it mst have been taking like 20+ crews, dancers and lots of camera equipment over to Hawaii, and the pics of the hotel Ayu stayed at didnt look so cheap either.. But I dunno if those costs are included in the PV cost tho..

although i can't think of any, there might have been. they just weren't announced (the price) like fairyland was.

I think they've only taken her "close" Avex staff (including makeup, management, stylists and all the blah) to Hawaii, plus the dancers (including Etsu+Chiharu). I'm sure the filming crew and equipment was from Hawaii (you can even hear ppl speaking English), they do have such things there and it's cheaper than bringing things along. The hotel, traveling must also have made up a sagnificant part of the budget...

i remember seeing in MTV that the VJ mentioned George Michael's Freeeek!!! is also one of the nastiest, i mean the most expensive videos?

I remember reading somewhere that Utada Hikaru's "Sakura DROPS" PV was more expensive than "fairyland".

Heh, it should be really easy to beat it. Just go for an around-the-world trip with the whole filming crew to make a 3-4min video and you can easily spend 10 million USD on it lol

Erm... I think there's many islands on Pacific looking just like Hawaii which are way closer to Japan than Hawaii itself... Hawaii is like in the middle of distance between Japan and West Coast USA.
