[ORICON] BLUE BIRD 2nd week + Startin'/(m)u weekly sales

I know the BLUE BIRD 2nd week has already been mentioned in the BLUE BIRD Oricon Daily Ranking Thread by Rody! but I just wanted to keep all of this week's sales in 1 thread.

BLUE BIRD 2nd Week Sales
Rank: 3
Weekly Sales: 48,390
Total Sales: 208,962
Yearly Ranking: 21
***
Startin'/Born To Be...
STOPPED CHARTING/OUT OF THE TOP 200. Total Sales stand at 188,551 for now. (28th in Yearly Ranking)
***
(miss) understood
Weekly Sales: 1,042
Total Sales: 873,644
Yearly Ranking: 6
***
I wasn't expecting BLUE BIRD's 2nd week to be dropping this much (into the 40k's). I was expecting at least 50k+, but it's close enough. I'm starting to think maybe MC Tatsujin's prediciton of 268,000 (I think it was 268k) might become reality....

I've seen people saying that they want this single to be #1 for monthly, but I think Mr. Children's new single will very likely take that spot and leave BLUE BIRD at #2 or below.

Mad_Cactuar 4th July 2006 02:08 PM

Yep, I predicted 268k using geometric progression formula.. xD If it works, I'mma start predicting every other sales in the future with it!

*anticipates Startin'/(m)understood sales*
I'm not too confident in these two though..

shavoingin 4th July 2006 02:10 PM

im happy its doing better than startin/born to be

perfectdeath 4th July 2006 02:15 PM

ah, figures are still very good. at least they'll beat koda kumi's koi no tsubomi!

AyuGAME 4th July 2006 02:17 PM

i still believe it can achieve 250l-300k
just believe it!

At this rate, maybe not.. Koi No Tsubomi is still doing well. I see BLUE BIRD getting out of charts together with it. Although Koi No Tsubomi deserves the sales. :D Great song. Goodbye Days is pretty good too.

I wonder how BLUE BIRD even managed a number 1 given that the songs in the TOP 10 are really good. :tired

elepop 4th July 2006 02:24 PM

48,000 copies is good. I thought it would drop to 45,000 so I'm happy!

Already surpassed "Startin'/Born to be..."!

alternarist 4th July 2006 02:31 PM

weehee!! the sales will go up definitely.. thanks for the news!!

kirika 4th July 2006 02:38 PM

Apparently this single has been welcome warmly in Japan. Is that only my opinion that BLUE BIRD and Beautiful Fighters remind a lot older Ayu stuff? I guess that's why Japanese are buying it.

truehappiness 4th July 2006 02:42 PM

Hopefully it'll stabilize at like 20k :3

Raleigh 4th July 2006 02:43 PM

Good sales. I'm happy with how it's selling ^^

darkswordz 4th July 2006 02:43 PM

Good sales nevertheless :yes

~X2RADialbomber~ 4th July 2006 02:47 PM

Where did you get this information from? (Sorry I've tried to find the website for a while now and I can't find it :( )

truehappiness 4th July 2006 02:51 PM

fairyland
1st week = 172.221
2nd week = 62.223
3rd week = 35.043

The sales of fairyland are like, of a 10-20k difference from BLUE BIRD :3 ;3 I hope it does 25k! ;3

immel 4th July 2006 03:06 PM

^If BB would stay over 30k sales for next week it'd be great :).

The website is usually slower to update. Got this at JPM.

Right now it's closest to 'Moments'.

Moments
week 1: 157,320
week 2: *50,999
week 3: *27,562
week 4: *16,646
week 5: *15,430
5-week total: 267,957

WOW! Moments reached 300 000 eventually, hopefully BB does the same! But Moment's week 4 and week 5 might be impossible to achieve. Only 1 000 difference in sales, amazing.

freedreamer 4th July 2006 04:05 PM

i hope it still hang in there

Ayumi-Yummi 4th July 2006 05:48 PM

Great News~!

Dustie 4th July 2006 07:22 PM

It's nice she broke 200,000 copies sold.

Axel_Grease 4th July 2006 07:31 PM

Great news. Hope she can stabilize sales at 30K. :D

Cyria 4th July 2006 07:53 PM

Over 200k is good after the sales of the last two singles.

marca 4th July 2006 09:58 PM

i think blue bird should do pretty well... i would personally hope it reaches the 300k mark...

Kikaru 4th July 2006 11:28 PM

The bright side? it's already over 200K :D

Mad_Cactuar 4th July 2006 11:30 PM

^ We surely have lowered expectations since Bold & Delicious.. :cry

Calico 4th July 2006 11:47 PM

Amazing! I'm glad to see it doing this well. Then again, don't her summer singles usually fare well?

Well... 'fairyland' sold the least out of her 1st 3 singles of 2005 and UNITE! sold the least out of her 'I am...' singles. But then again, H/&/INSPIRE were all the highest selling singles for their respective albums.

emi♡ 5th July 2006 12:53 AM

yay for blue bird. I thought it would sell better than Startin...why are Koda's sales so low? I thought she was REALLY popular?

Koda's sales are her highest ever. take at look in wikipedia. She is really popular now, but she diden't even regularly appear in the top ten.

truehappiness 5th July 2006 01:36 AM

I thought she 'was' XD

Like.. she's had a bunch of top tens but like.. 2 #1s. XD

LacusClyne 5th July 2006 03:12 AM

woo. at least the sales are better then Startin'. it's gonna be a laugh if her 40th single is lower then a normal single...

but then again, there are 3 versions of BlueBird while Startin' 2 version. so it might add up the same....

truehappiness 5th July 2006 07:31 AM

Ayu's got quite a large #1-female-solo-artist streak going for her singles and her albums..

It's been quite a while since we've seen a #2 in terms of 'final Oricon ranking' :O

I wonder just how special the 10th album will be.. since it will also fall on the 10th anniversary of Ayu's debut. (Seems that's a reason why they made M.A a mini-album.. so that it wouldn't really count as an album..) XD

Wow it really did happen, BB in 2 weeks beat Startin' already, don't know if that's good or bad, guess its good.

darkswordz 5th July 2006 09:12 AM

^i think it is :yes Her 2005 singles (except B&D) would also take the same time :P Now, let's all pray a long chartlife in the top 10 :D

pbs1605 5th July 2006 09:32 AM

Well done.over 200K.

HilaryDuffFanboy 5th July 2006 10:08 AM

I think with some good luck and possibly more promotion, there remains a small chance for that 300k barrier.

Had this really been a triple A side, I think the prospect of it reaching 300k would raise considerably.

Qt Mashi 5th July 2006 10:14 AM

^ yeah i relli hope it can break 300k

thanks for the info

Endlessoul 5th July 2006 10:19 AM

Not as good as fairyland though. But if it can end up with 300k, that would be great. Keep on selling BLUE BIRD!

Deep snow 5th July 2006 11:06 AM

200000! way to go ayu! it's so nice that the sales overcome Startin'/Born To Be...

i hope the days of the AMAZINGLY high sales will return for ayu...

extepan 5th July 2006 12:01 PM

good that she broke 200k so soon!

HilaryDuffFanboy 5th July 2006 12:32 PM

Startin'/Born To Be... has stopped selling by the way...

It's total sales are 188.5k or so.

immel 5th July 2006 12:39 PM

^It went off the charts now?

truehappiness 5th July 2006 12:40 PM

Startin'/Born To Be... and (miss) understood new weekly sales will be coming soon!

^--what about that O_O?

that's sad to hear. Startin should have sold more. it has a cute video!

ayu_fan929 5th July 2006 02:02 PM

updated Startin' and (m)u weeklies.

~X2RADialbomber~ 5th July 2006 02:05 PM

(m)u is still selling 1K each week o_O That's amazing XD

ohsixthirty 5th July 2006 02:56 PM

thanks for the infos. :yes

hallelujah_united 5th July 2006 03:18 PM

I think the numbers are slowly climbing back up...And 268k seems like a pretty accurate guess for the eventual sales of BB. I wish I hadn't lost the brain for arithmetics...

hamasaki_edwin 5th July 2006 03:24 PM

i hope BB can maintain sold above 10000 units each week until it breaks the 300k

Aisha_Angel 5th July 2006 04:18 PM

Wow, now that the tours over are (miss)understoods sales rising a little or am I just excited to see 1,000+? That's sad about Startin'/Born To Be...I really liked that single. I dunno what could be wrong...

Quick question though: I read somewhere that when we buy Ayu goods off yesasia they don't count on the Oricon. But items we buy off CDJapan do. Is that true? If so, Ayu would've been had 1,000,000+ copies sold of (miss)understood because a lot of overseas fans bought from yesasia...And if that's not true; then is anything we buy just "not acceptable" either way?

Online orders from Yesasia DON'T count.
(The ones that I know of) Online orders from Amazon.co.jp, HMV Japan, Tower Records, and CDJapan/Neowing DO count.

Yes, (m)u might have sold 1,000,000 if Yesasia or overseas sales counted, but that doesn't really matter since she hasn't passed the 'Oricon million' with (m)u whereas all her other albums have done so.

Yukitora 5th July 2006 04:41 PM

Do we know the sales counts of (miss)understood from China or Taiwan or Korea? I hear they aren't very large figures... It'd be interesting to see. Plus, I doubt buying online fans would pass the 2k mark in total.

I doubt it'd be enough to pull her over the million mark.

For Korea, it didn't make the monthly top 20 from Jan-May so we know it sold less than 2000/month, or less than 10,000 total right now. Surprisingly, Tokyo Jihen, Hirai Ken and Mika did chart with their albums though.

Yippee~! This is good. It's still at 1K. :D

immel 6th July 2006 12:49 AM

I didn't think (m)u would go over 875k sales, but if it keeps on like this there's all possibilities it'll go a long way further.

Thanks for the update, lets hope that Startin' will be back on the charts for next week ^^.

truehappiness 6th July 2006 12:56 AM

A BALLADS; people.

Do we even know if that was Oricon certified? O_O;

immel 6th July 2006 01:01 AM

^What do you mean?

truehappiness 6th July 2006 01:03 AM

Well, certified by Oricon to have sold 1million+.. XD

I think that the Startin' thing doesn't mean that it hasn't sold.. it's just that some things have sold more / a lot of new singles were released, thus pushing like, everything else back. O_O

immel 6th July 2006 01:07 AM

As soon as a single exits the top 200 ORICON stops counting it's sales, even Ayus very old singles is still selling today and would probably have a couple of thousand, if not tens of thousand more sales, that hasn't been counted by ORICON throughout the years. Startin' is of course still selling, but it seems it dropped out of the charts.

About A BALLADS I don't know, the only source I have for that is wikipedia *shivers*.

truehappiness 6th July 2006 01:36 AM

It'll pop back into the top 200 soon.. hopefully. :p

Bye bye STartin', you're out!

(m)u is still doing well.. *_* AMazing. 900 000 is possible.

immel 7th July 2006 12:31 AM

I belive it's because of the release of BLUE BIRD and it's heavy promotion that (m)u sales is still doing decently, but I belive it'll drop out of the charts quite soon after.

Which week of sales for (m)u is this anyway? Didn't MY STORY chart for like 46 weeks or something?

What about the A single? It was re released twice with the two gold editions, shouldn't it have charted for very long aswell?

What's your source for those numbers? I guess wikipedia, it tells me A charted for 17 weeks.

I don't trust wikipedia all too much >_>

Yes, Ayu isn't exactly big in Korea. The biggest jpop singers in there are Mika Nakashima; Hirai Ken; Tokyo Jihen; Koda Kumi and GACKT.
