immel 11th July 2006 01:50 PM

I'm awaiting the sales of the other stuff. Is CDL0506 still charting? Will Startin' be back on the charts? Is (miss)understood still going strong? :).

LacusClyne 11th July 2006 03:28 PM

Brittany 11th July 2006 07:34 PM

It's great to hear that she at least passed the 200 mark :yes

Kikaru 11th July 2006 07:49 PM

The sales are pretty good for #12 :D

Axel_Grease 11th July 2006 11:16 PM

Not too far from 250K. ^_^

Mad_Cactuar 11th July 2006 11:54 PM

Definitely better than I expected, but sales are pretty good.. ^^ I thought it would have been a Top 10 with 15 000 sales or so..

immel 12th July 2006 01:25 AM

It dropped what, 70% between the first and 2nd week? This week it dropped 60%. Or is my brain playing tricks on me when I should be sleeping?

zeroshin888 12th July 2006 02:41 AM

well, it's not bad! Hope she remains strong 'till next week.

andre2907 12th July 2006 03:57 AM

I think that's bad... Less than 1 year ago, we could expect over 300k...

iphis 12th July 2006 04:23 AM

sigh....

i'm sad~~

could anyone plz post the sales of B'Z and other famous singers???

i wanna know how other do

pbs1605 12th July 2006 07:01 AM

Good sales.Thanks for the news.

Endlessoul 12th July 2006 07:26 AM

The sales are quite close. Mr. Children's sold 250k that's pretty great.

I hope BLUE BIRD can keep selling and get another 20k+ next week.

Yeah, I'm suprised with everyone saying how strong it's selling. :shrug It's an improvement over Startin and B&D for sure, but it was still just last year she was selling around 100,000 more and this single was well promoted too.

Qt Mashi 12th July 2006 11:22 AM

wow i think it's a pretty big drop

thanks for the info! :)

Connected 12th July 2006 11:52 AM

Usually the second to third week drop should be around 33%, ie this week it should sell about 32,000. So 20,000 is shockingly low (she should have been 5th but is now 12th...)

Her sales are becoming front-loaded (relatively high first-week sales followed by sharp falls), something that usually only happens to pop idol acts like boy bands and Hello! Project members. So past first-week sales stats may not be such a good comparison anymore...she needs a much bigger first-week to make up for the subsequent large falls.

Daking 12th July 2006 11:58 AM

ack, this isn't looking good for the 268k projection! :(

darkswordz 12th July 2006 12:10 PM

that's good :yes

ayu_fan929 12th July 2006 02:00 PM

The sales aren't as good as last year but at least they seem to have stopped falling. 300k would be nice but right now 250k is a good accomplishment for Ayu, IMO.

immel 12th July 2006 02:16 PM

The sales of (miss)understood keep on impressing me. I wonder if it'll have time to drop out of the charts before the next single release, the sales of the album will probably make a small jump at that point aswell.

Mad_Cactuar 12th July 2006 02:24 PM

Oh, back to 800 territory for (m)u.. Well, 880 000 is possible, but I doubt it reaches 900 000... Sad. :(

ayu_fan929 12th July 2006 02:37 PM

Closest 3 albums behind (m)u:
Kobukuro's NAMELESS WORLD - ~836k (averages about 2000/week)
Otsuka Ai's LOVE COOK - ~808k (went back up to 1000/week)
Utada Hikaru's ULTRA BLUE - ~780k (sold ~42k last week)

Mad_Cactuar 12th July 2006 02:44 PM

I think ULTRA BLUE is gonna beat (m)u. Wow, Otsuka Ai is selling very very well.

Utada has her tour backing her up, plus Is This Love is still heating up digital release charts.

I'm sure it will.

Is Kobukuro a band or a solo artist?

They're a duo (so band). Genre is something like Mr. Children I think.

immel 12th July 2006 03:22 PM

^Ah, thanks for supporting my lazyness :D. I didn't listen to Mr. Children but I think I know what kind of music they make, hehe.

I'm disappointed Startin' didn't make it back into the top 200.

Mad_Cactuar 12th July 2006 03:31 PM

I don't even know what music Mr.Children makes. I only know he looks pretty ancient from his music videos.. o__o Is he really that old?

Mr. Children is a band... And they've been around for 12 years or something so yeah.

EDIT: if anyone is interested here:
Kobukuro's Sakura PV (their single from Nov '05): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpN2S...ukuro%20Sakura
Mr. Children's Sign PV (single from 2 years ago): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlc52...hildren%20Sign

Both of these songs are ballad-y; but I guess it gives you a general idea of what type of music they do.

So the old man does not exist in reality? o__o Wow, kinda like Gorillaz.

ayu_fan929 12th July 2006 03:56 PM

Come to think of it, Kobukuro is more acoustic and Mr. Children is more rock...

Vienni 12th July 2006 05:29 PM

C'mon Ayu !!! :) U know u can do it !!!

I just think it is funny how much people have lowered their standards of what constitutes good sales in a such a short amount of time. :)

I do, too, heh.

Next week we can expect under 10k sales, unless this single manages something like Moments did.

ayu_fan929 13th July 2006 12:46 AM

^I would say probably somewhere between 8000-12000

They really should have done a second round of TV performances with Beautiful Fighters I think. She at least could have performed it on Heyx3. But now it is too late to add anything because it would interfere w/ Koda's release.

Yeah... I was actually expecting post-BLUE BIRD release apperances, it'd probably keep her sales up. As it looks now it seems most people only know how BLUE BIRD sounds, because Beautiful Fighters was never advertised in any way, apart from the PV.

Well, having a PV isn't really bad promotion, but live performances always helps :).

Well, until every one who gets to #1 sells above 150 000 soon in the first week, we'll take Ayu's sales positively.. :D She's the only one who manages 160 000 sales consecutively in the past too.

Well I think you should also look at total overall sales as well. I mean for example, Otsuka Ai's 'Planetarium' only had 91k 1st week sales but managed to sell 315k in the end.

And unfortunately, that is where Ayu sucks at.. x__x Her chart runs are very short. It all falls apart after the massive first week, that's why it is easy to predict her CD sales.

O_O, awesome. Was that an album or a single?

I suspect Ayu is already too well known, most people who want her album buy it immediately when it's released thus giving her the high first week sales, but very low in the following weeks.

It's a single which charted forever. Since September 2005 until February this year it was in the Top 30 of Oricon's weeklies.. >.> But the song is nice though.

^ Yep, Sakuranbo was the other miracle. It was another of those songs that charted like "zutttoooo.." and sold a ton in the end. Released who knows when and charted for almost two years, right?

Otsuka's sales are really good too, ever since her debut single, her sales have maintained over 100 000 copies. Never below that.

Yep. All her singles (save her debut) have all gone above 100k, 3 of the 11 released so far have gone above 300k.

Sakuranbo was released in like Dec 03 and I think was still charting in like early 2005.

truehappiness 13th July 2006 02:50 AM

Well, Beautiful Fighters seems to be getting the alterna treatment. How sad.

Mad_Cactuar 13th July 2006 02:50 AM

I hate the chorus, other than that miserable part the whole song is perfection.

Startin' shouldn't be seeling more than 100 copies now methinks.. xD Promotion stopped at the Olympic's coverage so...

Kikaru 13th July 2006 03:46 AM

Well PLANETARIUM had a tie-in with a very popular drama...

I wish she performed Beautiful Fighters live. It would be a nice song to hear live...

ayu_fan929 13th July 2006 04:08 AM

Some new additions:

SMILY/Biidama = 310,323
Sakuranbo -Encore Press- = 61,283
Frienger = 169,121+

Mad_Cactuar 13th July 2006 04:12 AM

Ooh thanks, I was a few weeks back.. x__x

immel 13th July 2006 04:12 AM

Haha, we get so bored waiting on the next weekly sales of Ayu so we start discussing other artist sales in her thread :D.

Mad_Cactuar 13th July 2006 04:15 AM

I would list Kumi's but they're a little too many plus her earlier sales are kinda measly.

True, immel.. x__x We're all so bored. *goes away from AHS*

darkswordz 13th July 2006 11:48 AM

good to see (m)u still charting ;)

Tasked 13th July 2006 12:30 PM

Who cares if she makes sharp falls. The 1st week is most important. The 1st week determines if Ayu continues her #1-streak.. :D

Mad_Cactuar 13th July 2006 02:04 PM

^ And thus retains her popularity. I think if she falls off the #1 for the weeklies, her career is gone. Hence, the no-experimentation rule she seems to be taking..
