New Moderator Nominations
 

AHS has been flourishing and growing, and we've decided that we need to expand the staff as well to help keep the forum working well! We are going open nominations for the initiates. Everyone at AHS has the opportunity to nominate a person at the forum to become a new moderator. The nominations will be open for 7 days (so this topic will be closed next Monday, March 31). Then we'll close the topic and get the list of the names together and be sure that everyone on the list is willing to take the position. Then the staff will deliberate on the list and choose 3 or 4 people to put on a ballot. Then we'll have a public vote where you all will be able to vote for the newest additions to the staff. If you have any questions about the responsibilities of a moderator, feel free to ask any of the staff and we can help you out.

So if you'd like, reply to this thread with the name of a person who you feel would be a great addition to the staff here. Pick a person with experience here at AHS, a person who would do a great job moderating the forum, a friendly person, and a person you think has a lot to offer for the staff.

All of us at the staff are looking forward to working with the new moderators here to make AHS the best it can be!

To everyone: Please read the guidelines Grant posted and think seriously about who you would choose to be a moderator. The person who is the most popular, posts the most, or is your best friend might not necessarily make a good moderator. I'm looking for someone who really cares about AHS, and is tolerant and reasonable. There are many initiates who could do the job. Best of luck to all.

you know, i always question the validity of nominations like this. are people getting nominated merely b/c they're popular? or are they getting nominated b/c they're actually qualified for the job? a mod at AHS should have both a take-charge attitude AS WELL AS a PERSONALITY. too often, elections like this are done on favorability and popularity, rather than ability.

this has gotten to be a wonky forum as of late (if you don't believe that, then you're in DENIAL). weird, pointless arguments spring up out of the most harmless comments made by people who had no intention of insulting anyone. it takes an intelligent person to handle situations like that, someone who is a good communicator. someone who is both willing and able to handle any and all situations that come up. think twice, or even 3 or 4...oh hell, think 100 times before you nominate someone.

personally, i nominate Chibinina. she's both eloquent and intelligent, and in my opinion, of all the ANS members i know (and you know who you are), she's the only person that i would nominate.

I would like to nominate myself, because i love AHS & i think that i would be a great moderater. I have experience. I have been a moderater at one other forum (that is now closed) & i was admin of my own Ayu forum which was shut down because of lack of interest (that's why i came to this beautiful place =)!

I might sound kinda bigheaded to nominate myself, but i gave it a lot of thought & i think that i would make a good mod. I enjoy postings at these forums & i would really like to help out.

I know you guys don't really know me that well (i am fairly new) but i hope you can get to know me & i can get to know you all, better. Thanks!

Ayufan Vegeta: We've all been in those stupid arguments you spoke of, so don't make accuisations upon everyone else. It's all been done before... it doesn't mean someone is incapable of being a good moderator!

I really think it should be someone who's been here for a while, but won't be too pushy on other people. After all, it IS only a web bbs. We're on here to discuss ayu, or any other topics we wish to discuss.

Arguments that wander out of the board should NOT be anyone's business, like I've seen a few times. Just someone who has some decent respect for other people's beliefs, lifestyles, etc... An objective Moderator. That's what we need in here!

It's all good.

He is right though, this isn't something that can be taken lightly, or be simply a popularity contest. We need someone who is friendly, objective, and can do this job well. Ability should be the reason you're nominating people.

Being a moderator is job which although unfortunate, not everyone can be fit to handle. So as not to repeat what was said I'll end this rant here.

My nominations for moderator represent the highest standards set fourth.......(*notices people skipping*) ..... moving on. Hard to choose just one, so I'll pick a few. In no particular order.

Impact Breaker - A really really nice person. Smart and amiable. We need people like this welcoming everybody to the forums. Before having registered, it was people like Impact here who showed me just how friendly a place this can be.

Brittany - I'm just working on a hunch here, but Brittany seems like she could be a great moderator. She always starts topics, keeping the forum very active, and is really very sociable. Don't allow her post count to decieve you, she would make a great moderator!

Biscuitgirl - I think everyone here knows why anyone would nominate our dear Biscuit. Go Biscuitgirl! Go!

Maybe it's a good idea for the nominees to make a short speech to all the AHS members? Like what aims they have, how they're going to contribute, their strengths, beliefs...

I'd like to repeat what Grant said about how the process of adding new moderators will work, so that it is clear to everyone.

Right now we are just taking nominations. After the nomination period is up the staff will deliberate and narrow down the list of candidates to few, probably 4. Then we will hold a general election and you will vote for the candidate you want. Not everyone who gets nominated in this round will make it to the final election.

We're not doing votes right now, only nominations. Once the staff makes the final 3-4 nominations, then the initiates will have a chance to vote for one of the four they'd like to see as mods.

I'd like to nominate both Biscuitgirl Girl, and Chibinina. Both have outstanding personalities and capabilities, and would make fine moderators. I'd also like to nominate Ayufan_Vegeta. Maybe not as active as most, be when he talks, he makes sense. Those are my nominations.

The current plan is each moderater moderating different sections of the forum, but it is not confirmed yet.

i vote for edenzone...coz he knos a lot about different jpop (and kpop) groups as well as ayumi, and is always on top of the latest news :)

Kawai DOES NOT speak for the staff. When the voting starts VOTE FOR WHO YOU THINK WILL BE THE BEST, regardless of where they live. THIS is the official position of the staff. It was sent without our knowledge.

Also, regarding different sections moderated by different mods, this was now discussed at all with the entire staff, and we don't have a stand on it right now.

Sorry, I'm just upset that that e-mail as sent behind the staffs backs. AGAIN, vote for who you think is best, REGARDLESS of what anyone tells you to believe.

How many new mods are needed anyway?

AHS is NOT LOOKING for Asian mods specifically.

Kawai wants asian mods. THE STAFF wants a qualified mod and it doesn't matter where they are from.

DO NOT base your nominations or votes (when it begins) on where a person lives. It's unimportant.

This is an international forum with people from all over the world. I think it's nice to meet people from other countries and other cultures. I like to meet new and different people. But everyone has differnet tastes......

Please read the announcement. The nominees will not be announced until, at the latest, April 7th, because we have to do interviews and make sure the people who were nominated want to fill this position.
