Taken Ayu for granted before?
Yes, has anyone here went through a phase in their life where you suddenly "realize" Ayu is a horrid untalented musician that is merely surviving on luck?
Mine was last month. It lasted for one whole month too. Every Ayu song sounded lame and formulaic to me. I began to see her faults (yes, she does have them) and even the most minor things got me irritated with her. I even wanted to sell her CDs off. :shakehead Mentally unstable? I just didn't like her anymore at all. Until last week, I just popped in (miss)understood to find out the exact problem with her songs. And I found none. In fact, I was shocked, the CD was so good! And then, I decided to listen to her 2006 releases again and requested them. Qwerty uploaded, I listened, and I'm in love all over again. Her new songs are really unbelievable, they aren't bad at all. Especially Startin', I find it so addictive. BLUE BIRD too! It's then I realize, I made a mistake. All her old songs are not bad either, UNITE and the whole Duty album sounded unique and very memorable. Being a rebel, possibly? I'm just a teenager after all... Sorry Ayu! I mean, not as if you understand this or anything, but... I ORDER RAINBOW NOW! YOUR CD! YES! I LOVE YOU! Tell your stories if you ever experienced anything similar! |
Honestly, people tend to go through their phases :p
I never really went through a time when I was like 'ew Ayu.' XD But I really sometimes might've felt 'Wow, I'm listening to her a lot o____o' Just goes to show that Ayu is getting BETTTEERRR and BEEETTTEERRR <3 Freakin' awesome woman, she is. Her faults are what make her human [she's not perfect!].. I mean just look at CDL and stuff lol. I can't wait for AT06 if you can't tell already.. Viva Ayu! |
^ Don't worry, your time will come. :D
|
It's been 4 years+.. so I dunno..
I've had on and off periods but nothing too severe. Ayu is definitely my artist of choice <3 ELT comes 2nd. xD |
No...not ever..=P
|
haha.. NOW, i tend to listen to less and less of ayu. nothing new is released. and listening to the newer songs will bore me soon..
|
no not me, i've only been into Ayu for about a half a year, but i used to listen to her before that, and thought, "meh, her voice is...bleh, these songs are...." And stuff like that, but i learned to appreciate her ovice and the uniqueness in it. I thjink that i've gone through phases where i lose love for certain songs and don't listen to them much anymore, but i've found myself at the moment in live with Duty and her other older albums. Dont' get me wrong, i love her newer hits and albums and all that, but i guess it's not my insterest right now.
|
for the first time i heard her songs (before i become a big fan of her), i found her old songs were iritating..especially her squeeky voice and some her songs including trance sound on them...
but after i found out evolution PV played on MTV.. wow..i love her very much since then~ finally..i love her old songs that i used to hate.. |
0.0 i had NEVER EVER leave ayu befopre...i had been her fan since A-best was just out.
in my case(i'm gonna start a thread in the chat room later, you guys will see why), i don't think i will ever dislike ayu.... |
Sure, sometimes I get tierd of pop music in general, but never really ayu's music. If I get tired of pop music there's always her trance albums, classical and even the warzaw orchestra. ALso when I get tired of pop music I'd rather listen to something more experimental like industrial or techno or instrumental classical music.
And BTW seh isen't really a musician, but an entertainer or Idol. |
um... this happend to me last night, im a reborn again Ayu fan :P

I think since she's successfully created a few compositions for herself, we can say that she has some musical talent.. :p |
i have been her fans for about 8 years..and i never feel like that
maybe sometimes i got bored...but its just stay for one hour and then i will listen to her songs again |
yes i have....my first 1.5 year of being an Ayu fan i loved everything abot her but now i sometimes when i think of Ayu and i don't like something about her i think to myself "omg Ayu is so annoying, pissing me off, man i hate her!" but when i listen to her music and watch her videos i will fall in love hehe, when i say mean things about Ayu it's just me i don't actually mean it, just sometimes when i get disappointed but i still always love Ayu >_<
|
I have sometimes phases in which I can´t stand an artist^^ I can´t hear namies style and qoHP stuff at the moment...dunno why but still I like them^^
|
I never felt like disliking Ayu!
There are songs I am dissapointed about (like Carols, Blue Bird) but I am still totaly Ayu obsessed^^ I just feel like Non-listening to Ai Otsuka, Gackt, L'Arc en ciel and Hyde at the moment. I am just listening to Koda Kumi, Yuna Ito, Mika Nakashima, Hikki and some other artists I am new into ohh and to Ayu's Music naturally!^^ |
I've sometimes just got bored of listening to her too much, or like now, I'm just bored with the over-synthesised stuff at the moment, but I've not yet felt like I didn't like her. If I get bored I just listen to other artists, or have more than one in my playlist.
|
Your non-Ayu-liking period was quite noticeable, haha, mentally unstable... sure ;).
Well, I don't think I will ever experiance anything like this, it's simply not like me. What I start liking I stay liking, even if the initial super-wow-love might fade in time. It was just recently I stopped listening to her around all the hours of the day.. hehe. I rediscovered MY STORY when I got the DVD-A version though, so I've been listening to it quite a lot the last few days... About You... |
I have periods where I just listen to this one artist, and sometimes this artist just happens to be not Ayu. But it seems like all the artist on my playlist switch around, but it seems like the only one that never really shifts position. :P
The good thing with Ayu is, even if her 2006 stuff isn't that good (I so far like it, but a lot of others don't), I can still pop back her older stuff and enjoy the Duty album or something. And surviving on luck? don't we all in this world? :P |
I'm going through the "Ew, Ayu." phase now.
A few weeks after the release of "BLUE BIRD" I didn't want to listen to her music as much as I did before.. I seem to skip her songs when I'm on shuffle. |
I have the phase "less Ayumi" for now
because I dislike the new stuff and there's nothing criminal in it :P |
Before march, I was lke "eh, lame. famous, but lame. depend on you is ok, albeit a little screechy." And then I started to really appreciate both her music and her as a person. I haven't really listened to anything else since then. And now I'm spending obscene amounts of money on CDs and bloody awesome DVDs :D. My mom's like you watch, after you get tired of all this and move on, I know where to sell all this stuff. I'm like hell no, mom, I'm loving Ayu till the day I die, and you know that's the kind of person I am. Ayu's just got such a huge repertoire that is mostly all likeable. I think that's how many of us have been able to sustain listening to her for such long periods of time; her awesome variety doesn't let her music get old. And on top of the songs, we have PVs and live performances keeping them fresh.

Only sort of thing ive had like this was when i overplayed inspire and got bored of it
Then i went back to it about 4months later and <3 |
Hmm, Ayumi is and always will (maybe) be my number one. But I do often get the feeling that she can't sing and has a crap load of help from synthesizers and voice enhancers...like...a lot. That's all because of her performances. Her concerts are really great...you can hear the strength in her voice. But when you see her TV concerts, sometimes they put me in strong places of doubt. Her DVD concerts can be edited, while TV shows are typically unedited (like, by her people). Because of this, I wonder if her voice is really like that and if she really cannot sing at all, because many times she is terribly off tune. So bad, she sounds worse than bad American Idol auditions.
But then I am forced to turn back around, when I hear performances like Memorial address at Arena Tour 2003-2004. Of course, many times I am disgusted with her M performances simply because I don't like how she "smoothes out" the "maria" in the chorus parts. Gross. |
^lol yea sometimes the TV performances are meh. On american idol, the serious people are all terribly on-key so I'm like what's going on here?? But when you hear some of her performances on Ayuready?...it's just like wow. Like that one time she sang bits of "Kimi dake ni" by shounentai with that mitsuhiro guy. People have posted before saying WHOA LOOK AT THIS SHE SOUNDS AWESOME. And haru yo, koi was a kickass performance too. And she's cute in the surreal making-of where she's just kind of singing to herself acapella. Seriously, the little kimi dake ni sing was reaaal nice...not only was it totally on-key, she whipped out some wicked vibrato. Goes to show that her vocals really have been improving a lot. Let's see...episode 22 with mitsuhiro oikawa; it's toward the end.
Oh and I love this performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxTHoKOu-Ww Totally should've been on A Ballads instead of the old TO BE vocals. This one too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVuErKBUmp8 It's revenge for her performance with tsunku on hey!x3 in 1999...her voice was so tiny compared to his back then...NOW WHAT TSUNKU NOW WHAT And here's haru yo koi: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiyGbC3mWZ4 Bah I can't find kimi dake ni on youtube. Yea she's got some bad days...but when it's good, you damn well better believe it ;). |
I like her concert voice. Some songs won't be the same as the studio version simply because her voice changed over the years, but really, give the the concert humming 7/4 version anyday. I think it's nice to have difference between the live and studio voice, or else concerts would be kinda boring to watch methinks :P (Hikki, I'm looking at you. Ai at least have that Osaka accent thing).
|
Its MC reborn! LOL :D
We all go though those phases now and then I'm sure you'll hate Mika soon :bgiggle Anyway its like that with any artist -- too much, not good You don't want to end up like BanFan LOL :laugh (truehappiness will probably get that ;)) |
LOL~
I do get it ;p I think that Mika will probably get a bit boring to people faster than Ayu.. Ayu does have a larger discography to grind through.. |
nah, I never have.
|
Quote:
But I thought BanFan left because he was bored with the chatroom threads going "OMG, MY 1000TH POST!" and not cos of Ayu? |
Quote:
He still is a cult follower of M.A though D: (more like the ultimate sleepiness, Mika is.. :p :p) |
Ayumi? Bad? HAHAHA....
No, I appreciate her music too much for that. |
I think Ayu makes my life 10x happier <3 XD
If there were no Ayu, I might like emo bands :[ :[ |
Quote:
|
Eh, he'll probably, not announcing it to us, ditch Mika for Yuna Ito or something D:
|
so is there anyway to get BanFan back???
|
No. He left for good :p
(winkwink) Like, for reals. |
I have never thought of disliking Ayumi Hamasaki. Yes sometimes I find her music lame but most of time her songs are like, jewellery or something. Being talented doesn't mean she has to be good at warble tones or anything like that. She's honest to music and she loves singing for us that's enough. And I do enjoy her songs.
BTW I hate those who hate an artist because of another one. That's mean. |
No i have not.
|
Hey she can do "warble tones"...check out that kimi dake ni on ayuready22, you'll see. It's freakin kickass too. Go Ayu! I've come to love the sound of her voice...
