Ayu's song title that you dislike and would like to rename?

I am not sure if this is a good thread for discussion. Let's try
There are many interesting and nice ayu songs, but some song titles are weird and some fans dislike it. If you could rename those songs, what would you like to rename?

Here is my list.
(1) my name's WOMEN = I really want to rename this title. The song is great especially ayu preformed in ARENA TOUR 2005.
The title I would like for this song: my lady name

(2) Are you wake up? = Wrong grammar..
The title I would like for this song: Are you awake?

(3) Bold & Delicious = hmm I cannot see the title that is related to the song.
The title I would like for this song: Raise your hands

(4) P.S II = No! I am not going to play the video game!
The title I would like for this song: Tearless from Powder Snow

(5) (miss)understood = First time I saw the song title, I through it would has two songs titles (miss and understood) that became one big theme. The song is great but the title is weird.
The title I would like for this song: Misinterpret

(6) still alone = I don't know why ayu didn't use "Survivor" instead. Remember the rumor for this song was called "Survivor". I deadly love this title.
The title I would like for this song: Survivor

(7)Naturally = Same as "still alone", the rumor was better the real title.
The title I would like for this song: NATURAL

(8)fairyland = hmm I don't like the title.
The title I would like for this song: Utopia

(9) CAROLS = First time I saw the name, it confused me. CAROL with S? How many Carol in person in this song? Well it is a christmas song..
The title I would like for this song: My love

(10) girlish = weird but nice title... but I still want to rename.
The title I would like for this song: cheerful

I know,, ayu's song are unique, but some fans always discuss the song titles. We should share what we think about ayu's song title..:tipsy :tipsy :tipsy

alt.total-loser 3rd October 2006 01:32 AM

Hmm. Not too many.

1. Startin' = I just... kind of feel embarrassed when I say the title. I don't know why, but it bugs me.
The title I would like for this song: Starting

2. Greatful days = Sorry. But I can't stand things spelled wrong, even if this spelling seems to make more sense.
The title I would like for this song: Grateful days

3. FRIEND II - Ugh. Too many IIs. >__> And I don't like the word 'friend' much, anyway.
The title I would like for this song: WAITING

4. Introduction - Please. How boring sounding, especially since it's the first track.
The title I would like for this song: Racing

5. Interlude - The title's so obvious and simple.
The title I would like for this song: Celestial

realize_! 3rd October 2006 01:39 AM

I can't really like dislike the titles because that's what makes it that much more unique and different :D including the bad grammar, but I'f I had to choose....

Who...

don't know what to rename it though

LacusClyne 3rd October 2006 01:57 AM

i respect ayu's decision for her song titles. she wanted a name to fit in.

but, i really HATE B&D. it does not goes at all.....

No_Doubt 3rd October 2006 02:28 AM

Not sure why people don't like the title Bold & Delicious, I think it's precious. It fits the theme of the song well, not to mention "BOLD & DELICIOUSSS!!!!" is shouted through the entire song. The only song I wish was renamed was theme of a-nation '03, because it's such a boring title.

benslave4u 3rd October 2006 02:57 AM

I echo with some of you guys' idea that respect ayu's opinion and I think ayu named those songs that way for a reason! other than those grammar mistakes I think all of ayu's song are really well named and I also think Bold&Delicious is the perfect name for that song!! So i would so I love ayu's way of naming those songs!

:yes

I'm happy with Ayu's titles.

Only the ones with really bad english bug me...and the only one, that I can think of now, is Are You Wake Up. It's a cute title...but it's...annoying to say...should it be...Are You Woken Up, or Are you awake...I don't know...The only reason why i don't really care about it too much, is that I understand what she is trying to say with the title...and there isn't really an english way to say it without losing the "cuteness" or whatever she was trying to get at...so, whatever...yeah...this post was useless...because, I really wouldn't change any aspect of ayu's music...

darkswordz 3rd October 2006 05:14 AM

i'm fine with all her title, nothing much bugs me :D

AyuGAME 3rd October 2006 05:40 AM

hanabi episode II - looks like star wars for me so i want to change it with sadness...
the rest is ok for me

Deep snow 3rd October 2006 06:42 AM

let's see, lots of them though,

POWDER SNOW >> Deep snow :p

girlish >> PRECIOUS

SEASONS >> MIRACLE

fairyland >> NEVERLAND

Startin' >> Desire

BLUE BIRD >> BLUE SKY, or maybe Bright & Blue

Replace >> Make A Wish (i dunno, i always think this song fits really well as my birthday song)

walking proud >> isn't it supposed to be walking proudly? well, i like it to be Endless though...

SURREAL >> FOREVER

About You >> You are... (i think "About You" is too cheesy for a rock song)

is this LOVE? >> everything everything (yes ppl, twice)

In The Corner >> in the corner (only the capitalization bugs me)

my name's WOMEN >> CLOWNS

theme of a-nation '03 (the stupidest title EVARRR) >> MATSURI (you know, like HANABI, which is a brilliant title [and dull song at the same time])

Born To Be... >> Born to be Free (ppl will fill the "..." w/ dirty words)

Pride >> Fraud

actually there's still a *****load of titles i'd like to change, but can't think of 'em ATM,

and put aside those crazy titles, ayu DOES have some really brilliant ones, such as:

Bold & Delicious
UNITE!
I am...
RAINBOW
INSPIRE
Moments
CAROLS
M
July 1st
Greatful days
forgiveness
ourselves
HANABI
Voyage
Will
HEAVEN, etc

those titles are perfect!

alternarist 3rd October 2006 09:09 AM

^ I think INSPIRE, Voyage and HEAVEN are great!! some weird ones are Greatful days (huh?), M and Will (what is she trying to say?).

other than that, i respect ayu's decision. its her song! not ours.. after all. ayu's english is not perfect. :D

Mad_Cactuar 3rd October 2006 09:12 AM

I can't believe no one mentioned the hideous:

STEP you

Switch it to something proper, "1,2,STEP" for instance.

truehappiness 3rd October 2006 09:27 AM

Then people would jump on it saying it's some weird that girl copy... LOL

I think it'd be wrong to change any Ayu song's title.. :/
Personally, I feel that if you change anything about Ayu's discography, then it'd seem a little odd..

Imagine if M was called Bliss.. o_o~

Or endless sorrow called SEPIA..

jeffycue 3rd October 2006 09:28 AM

the only song title that i dont like is my name's WOMEN.. i just hate it. even the song.. hehehe

STEP you and other wrong grammar or weird title songs are nice and cool for me..

Mad_Cactuar 3rd October 2006 09:36 AM

At least 'STEP' then. Why the "you"? If she ever goes international, it will so be tabloid fodder.

truehappiness 3rd October 2006 09:38 AM

I can't imagine calling STEP you anything other than that.. lol

It gives the song a certain uniqueness to have such a weird name.. like how Bold&Delicious is how its named.. lol

Mad_Cactuar 3rd October 2006 09:43 AM

I know, but it's partly because we can't change it so we accepted it. I think if she had a poll to vote for best song title between "1,2,STEP", "STEPS", "STEP", and "STEP YOU", I very stronly doubt anyone would choose "STEP YOU".

truehappiness 3rd October 2006 09:45 AM

STEP you is a lyric in the song though..

Sorta like naming Are You Wake Up? something like "Are You Awake?" because that'd be boring. LOL

I'd choose STEP you cause STEP/STEPS seems incomplete.. and 1,2 STEP..is another song.

Mad_Cactuar 3rd October 2006 09:53 AM

^ You're delusional. Must be because you live in Anaheim.

truehappiness 3rd October 2006 09:55 AM

Nah.

If I was delusional, I'd imagine that STEP you is a horrid name and that it should immediately be changed to something like "STEP with YOU" lol

Mad_Cactuar 3rd October 2006 09:58 AM

I'd like that title more though. Anyway, the damage is done. Ironically, it's such an amazing track despite the title.

truehappiness 3rd October 2006 10:00 AM

I think that out of MY STORY and (m)u..

STEP you and my name's WOMEN are like, the ones that represent the most.. 'disagreed on' titles.. where people were like "WHAT THE HECK IS THIS NAME" lol

She didn't have weird titles before then so.. :/

Mad_Cactuar 3rd October 2006 10:02 AM

I'm sure Ayu outdoes herself in the future. :D With a brain like that..

Poker face. LOL.

truehappiness 3rd October 2006 10:03 AM

But that's like, a real expression, and it kinda makes sense if you think about it emotionally.. :o

Mad_Cactuar 3rd October 2006 10:04 AM

Hilarious, still.

:roflmao That name cracks me up. Poker Face. :roflmao

M_aria 3rd October 2006 10:19 AM

Out of all the songs mentioned I a little surprised to see [M]... I think it's perfect.
I thought I heard that Ayu doesn't always come up or decides on the song titles and that's why some of them don't necessarily relate to the lyrics... I could be wrong...
I do agree on the songs with bad grammar or incorrect spelling. When I uploaded my name's WOMEN to my iPod, I changed it to WOMAN, since that's the one that irks me the most.

immel 3rd October 2006 12:56 PM

I'm horribly much in love with all her song titles which sometimes seem pretty random but are still somehow in context with the song itself.

I don't like when song titles are perfect and/or mainstream - enough of that already :D.

The one that I don't like very much is theme of a-nation '03.

Okay, several of her songs could have had "better" names, but this is what Ayu wants to give us in her ignorance :D.

Eu-Kun 3rd October 2006 01:03 PM

i want to change Are You Wake Up? LOL it shows that ayu is an engrish master

immel 3rd October 2006 01:09 PM

I will be the eternal protector of Are You Wake Up?... haha, I love both the title and the song.

No, AT06 didn't get me biased AT ALL!

~X2RADialbomber~ 3rd October 2006 02:25 PM

I would never ever change any of her song titles. They are so beautiful already, that I'd probably just ruin them if I changed them

ohsixthirty 3rd October 2006 02:32 PM

well...if i had to pick, i would change BLUE BIRD and fairyland. its not that i hate them, just that i don't particularly care for them.

spacelion 3rd October 2006 02:43 PM

most of the tracks on (miss)understood.

criminal 3rd October 2006 06:04 PM

I want Beautiful Day to be BEAUTIFUL DAY.
alterna should be changed too, but I'm not sure to what.

explodingbird 3rd October 2006 06:55 PM

I think all of Ayu's song titles give her songs (and herself) personality. They're unique. They're memorable. They stand out.

The only one I would change? HANA. I know (or, well, think) some translations of the title are "flower" and "flower petal", as well as "nose"... well, okay, I'm using suteki.nu for this. But leave me alone. It's all I have.

Anyway, the translation I see on there that I always think about when I see HANA? "snivel, nasal mucus, snot."

I Agree with you! I like the titles and everything she does the way it is. Everything Ayu creates is a concept and something different at least for the people that live in different parts of the world like myself. I think it's very interesting to see the song titles that she and other J-Pop artists use.

Diana 3rd October 2006 08:01 PM

hm... I don`t like Bold & Delicious too much as a title. And BLUE BIRD ;_;

nodoka 3rd October 2006 08:53 PM

That whole LOVEppears album title thingy REALLY pissed me off. It took me like a month to learn how to pronounce it correctly.

YumeHamasaki 3rd October 2006 08:57 PM

are You wake Up? i think ti kinda fits if ya think about it...i mean, if you are asking if soemone's awake, that person could still be sleeping, so the fact that the grammar's wrong, makes sense since the title seems kinda sleepish. The song wakes you up definently, but i think that it's focused on that, not whether the title's grammar's correct. And plus, the song after it, it's fairyland, this land shouldn't be a place that you care about grammar. That's why i think the name's okay. Besides, Ayu wouldnt' make that mistake accidently, cause it's so easibly noticable that it's wrong. Someone on her lil crew prolly know english to make sure she doesn't make the mistake of grammar usage.

I dont' have any problems with the names. To change About You to "you are..." doesnt' seem right to me. I think "you are" sounds balladish. About You sounds good to me. now that i think about it, i think humming 7/4 is a bad name. I dunno if you noticed but the reason i's called that is because the 7/4 means the 4/4 time the song's in. The reason why i hate the title is because the whole songs not in that time signature. It's only at a certain part that it is, the beginning, that's it. I think the song should be called "Humming!" and that's it.

Ava 4th October 2006 01:06 AM

nonono.

all the names you gave are... horrible? ôo
i like all original names

truehappiness 4th October 2006 01:09 AM

I don't see why you'd want to change titles.. :p

Maybe pre-release..
Again: Imagine Endless sorrow as SEPIA or M as Bliss..
totally not the same.

terra 4th October 2006 01:45 AM

Well, maybe some sounded weird but I try to accept it...really....

Coz I dunno how to fix it....like:
1. STEP you --> Step on ypu, or what??
2. still alone --> as I know it's not Ayu which is alone, but it is someone whose never been alone
3. SEASONS --> In the lyric, 'season' word only appears in the first paret and gone, so what's the connection??
4. Naturally --> 'Naturally' wanted to go away??
5. HANABI --> Luv the lyric and the title but it would be more fit if it's changes to more 'missing you' word..but hey I enjoying this song while staring at the fireworks on my night in Singapore...missing my BF
6. NEVER EVER --> Hmm...what's the connection between never ever and you want to give the most beautiful thing to that person?
7. RAINBOW --> No rain can get the rainbow...?? Supporting and supported??

Well maybe that's all but most of her title is cool though

Isthan 4th October 2006 02:56 PM

Eh? I've never thought that any of her titles are bad or about renaming them.

Well, I I had to choose one I'd choose (miss)understood. I don't know how I'd rename it but as it is now it reminds a bit too much about Pink.

Raiu-Ayu 4th October 2006 04:06 PM

I love ayu's song titles. I would maybe change the pronouciation of 'A Song for XX' from "A Song for" to "A Song for XX" so that you say the "XX". Other than that I have no problems with them ^_^

ayu_ready? 4th October 2006 04:43 PM

my name's WOMEN-wrong spelling :dead2
Greatful days-the same ^
BLUE BIRD-weird, typical :shakehead
Beautiful Fighters-wha? :shakehead
(m)u-nooo, everybody has such song :no
STEP you-weird:o
is this LOVE?-typical. too much.:no
In The Corner-how does the song title fits the song? :shakehead
Beautiful Day-what do I dislike? just...the title is sooo simple :(
rainy day-that's the same to ^
flower garden-ehh...:innocent
AUDIENCE-just dislike, that's all

HanabiChick 4th October 2006 05:27 PM

The only one I'd change is Bold & Delicious, because it's really the worst name. Don't know what I'd change it to, though, nothing could really suit it.

You can say such things that means you are ALSO a kid, well not really a kid only.. Los...er, maybe?

If we all love everything from ayu, that doesn't mean you like ayu but blindly love ayu.

This thread is just for sharing our feeling of ayu song titles, but so many immature ahs users try to argue how they are always right.

I think this thread should better be closed.

fairyland - Paradise
+/More than - ?
NEVER EVER - One Wish
appears - .. it just doesn't make sense. WHAT appears? .. I know, she means Love Appears, but still.. it doesn't make sense to just say "appears" alone
A Song for XX "A Song for..." would be less confusing, wouldn't it?

well i like all the titles she picked for these songs:yes and besides u cant really blame her if some things r wrong grammer like "are you wake up" well shes japanese writing and picking and english words.
the only thing i might change would be one of my favorite songs fairyland,I just didnt think the lyrics matches up to the thought of the title.but i still love the song:D

Paradise does sound pretty, but I'd rather it were her next summer song's title. fairyland fits the nostalgic, wistful feel of the song and the imagery in the video.

+ is kind of that song nobody cares about anyway. It's just there. I'd rather it were named ...

NEVER EVER.... I dunno. I'd have to check the lyrics for that to see how it fits.

appears sounds rather mysterious and alluring to me, although if it were named LOVE appears or, obviously, LOVEppears, we'd have a clearer title track - although I wonder if the capitalized LOVE in LOVE~refrain~ was supposed to be the other half of the album's title... I do like appears fine as is, though.

A Song for... - I'm not sure. It might seem a bit incomplete. I think XX adds in that whole "this song is for everyone" quality to it.

extepan 5th October 2006 06:46 AM

i only wanted the ones with wrong grammar or spelling to be renamed to correct english

"appears" in that song doesn't mean "emerges" or "comes out".
It means "seems"
LOVEppears is meant to be interpreted as "Love appears to be like blah-blah-blah...".

and "XX" in a common expression for "Someone" in Japanese / Chinese.

"Greatful" is wrong and "grateful" is right, according to the dictionary.

>__> Although for many years I spelled it as greatful...

Her Engrish titles:

Greatful Days: Grateful Days (makes more sense)

Step You to something else lol.
Ever Free: Free Forever
Depend on You: Depend on Me
Appears: Appear
Everywhere Nowhere: Everywhere to Nowhere

Haha, that's so true. I never pay much attention to that song.

As for changing any of the titles though, I'm not a fan of Flower garden or theme of a-nation '03. The first just doesn't seem to suit the mood of the song and the second is just such a generic title that it could at least have been called something less obvious.

I love Ayu's Engrish titles though. I think it gives them character and they absolutely should not be changed. STEP you and my name's WOMEN are just too cute :)

Rurutia 11th October 2006 12:21 AM

CAROLS (It had nothing to do with Christmas)
STEP you (UGH! Engrish is not cute)
Are You Wake Up? (too drunk) :drunk

Aisha_Angel 11th October 2006 02:38 AM

"And Then"...it's so ready for a "And Then WHAT?" comment...ehh maybe "Next Time" I dunno; mostly I just don't like this song.

"humming 7/4" simply because I don't think anyone knows what it's supposed to mean; though it is quite unique. How about "humming 24/7" or "humming 7/24"

"CAROLS"...it's the most misspelled Ayu song ever I think. Maybe she should have named it "Melody"...

"Startin'" love the song but I don't like how everybody always seems to say, "Starting". Even Ayu kind of says it whenever she performs it live. If I could I'd just change it to "Starting"

OMG; the two songs I am SO angry about: "Key ~eternal tie version~ and "Memorial Address ~session take 2~ (or however they are written). So far I haven't seen or heard anything about an official like *Ayu&song-composer* version of Key...and Memorial Address makes me wonder where are the other takes.
Basically I'd just change them to "Key ~an eternal tie~" and "Memorial Address".

That's all I can think of so far...

evolusean 11th October 2006 04:27 AM

It seems that a lot of people really don't consider Ayu's titles and lyrics very closely. Maybe some people are reading poor translations, but for the most part, Ayu's titles always appear in the song in some way, shape, or form. It's just that the lyrics are Japanese and the titles are English, so the titles appear in the lyrics usually as concepts rather than words. They are very much conceptual, to embody the idea of the entire song. Others, like HANABI or CAROLS, don't appear in the song, but either suit the song's musical feel or have some sort of personal relevance (eg HANABI being the name of the bar where the emotional story behind the song took place).

Ayu generally has the best titles, but the only ones I would change are:

1. "theme of a-nation '03" because it deserves to be a stand-alone song.

2. "Startin'" because I hate when people chop off a perfectly good "G" in writing.

3. "Are You Wake Up?" because it is absurd, even if it was intended to be a pun on Ayu's name. As far as name puns go, "Ayu Ready?" was a lot more clever, because it was a pun that actually worked on both sides.

I am not a big fan of the phrase "Beautiful Fighters", but since it appears in the song anyway, there's no real point in changing the title.

Oh, I never thought about that, um, how do you mean, like Ayu Wake Up?

^^I never though of it that way...haha. If it was intended to be that way...then it is cute...well....it was always cute...even if wierd...

Could also be Are You Wake Up? - AYWU? - but that's a bit ... far fetched.

"CAROLS"...it's the most misspelled Ayu song ever I think.
Hope you mean other people misspell the word since CAROLS itself is spelled right. But it does have a witnery feel - which is why I think the title is very fitting.

Although for some reason I'd find it absolutely hilarious if it were misspelled CARLOS or something.

For those who wonder... CAROLS.

It's very correctly spelled and it does have a sensible meaning :).

Technically not a Christmas song, definitely not loud or joyous, but it was her winter single. People associate winter with Christmas, so.... yeah, it definitely fits.

I think the iiiiiiiIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIiiiiiiiiiii's are pretty loud ;)... oh well.

Yeah, her titles are a tad off here and there.

Honestly the only thing that could be changed in my opinion is Are You Wake Up? I imagine she would've had it something like, Ayu Wake Up?, although that seems a little too obvious.

I guess I'm just so used to Ayu's song titles that I've grown to like them just the way they are.

wasn't the title somekind of protest... like a crying ayu on the A BEST cover? I heard something like that.
