[CHINESE TABLOIDS] Koda Kumi cannot get big crowds like Ayumi

well it's from a chinese tabloids so don't take it too seriously but I still like this article ... although I'm a huge fan of Kumi as well ...

BASIC TRANSLATION:
A magazine from Japan call <<Flash>> recently conducted a survey studying how much people participate in artist's events. Mr. Children, B'z, Southern All Stars are known to be the top artists that can get most people to their events, with an average of 120,000 people going to their concerts. And Ayumi Hamasaki lead the female category with an average of 50,000 people. While Koda Kumi only have an average of 15,000 people.

And then the next paragraph pretty much say that SMAP help a Arena Tour in Sept. 28, 2006 and sang a song call <<Everybody>> and Koda Kumi appeared to do a duet with them, making 55,000 fans in the arena screamed.

Thanks for sharing. Not surprising.

But I think Kuu could catch up slowly.

Qt Mashi 4th October 2006 10:31 PM

lol xD

i don't believe that...Ayu probably can gather more fans but they probably exagerated Ku's one

Depending on what she does and what songs she does, she can probably get a big crowd like Ayumi... if she works for it.

This article is thrilling, but it doesn't surprise me. :P

Zeke. 4th October 2006 10:54 PM

As much as I really like Ku, this really made my day!

:yes

kotora 4th October 2006 11:15 PM

I like them both, ayu and koda. They are different especially their music style. I think we should not compare them. I don't know why everyone like to compare two different style singers together. It NEVER works.

tokyoxjapanxfan 4th October 2006 11:17 PM

i also like the fact that more people purchased ayu's goods at a-nation than ku's ... but thanks for this too!! :)

immel 4th October 2006 11:21 PM

Ugh, they list so many number but without stated sources, and it's estimations?

Thanks for the article, although it isn't really telling me anything.

Yeah exactly, and the magazine "Flash" always provides some un-support-able data or information.

Two words for this magazine... BULL ****.

Well , I like they support ayu this time, but I don't like that they compare ayu and koda.

BigAyuFan 5th October 2006 12:47 AM

haha i see y u put up the smily face now XP

Raleigh 5th October 2006 01:15 AM

Well it's not surprising. Ayu's far more established than Kumi.

~X2RADialbomber~ 5th October 2006 01:17 AM

Yay.. This is so great to be finally able to read something like this! GO AYUMI!

gishimura 5th October 2006 01:22 AM

can c that ayumi 1 person can make it 50,000
n koda + SMAP only reach 55,000
so thats mean each of them only get 27,500

I think in this case its different
They are comparing how many people go to their events, and has nothing to do with their musical styles

SMAP are the biggest tour acts in Japan. They sell-out 80k stadiums.

truehappiness 5th October 2006 01:55 AM

Well, I think it's cause of their age range :p

but it might. Based on what sort of music is popular in the country...

I mean, if Ayu would come to America, and people compared the number of people going to her concert to like, Beyonce's...I mean...who do you think is going to have a larger crowd?

I know that is a bit of an exaggeration, but...Ayu is way more established and stable, and, this is just a guess, but I could definitely see Avex spending way more time and money on Ayu's concerts, making them more huge, drawing more people...I mean...I would EXPECT Ayu's concerts to be more extravagant than Kuu's given her status.

This doesn't surprise me at all...it shouldn't surprise anyone...I don't even know why it is an article...it's just crap.

Princess_Of_Roses 5th October 2006 02:13 AM

I find this very stupid...

O_O..it doesnt..ayu fills stadiums..and kumi doesnt get that much space :headache

Terri 5th October 2006 02:32 AM

Where do these people get off on comparing people?

I agree with u...
Why ppl love to compare singers that have different style ???
We love Ayu and Ku the way they're singing...

AyuGAME 5th October 2006 02:54 AM

whatever...ayu is ayu...kuu is kuu...
for me ayu is the best...for the others..i dont know

Aisha_Angel 5th October 2006 03:08 AM

ehh, I dunno; I kind of don't think avex has too much confidence in Koda as far as arena-stadium touring. I think that's why they put her in smaller venues. And I guess mostly because there is kind of only so much a visual conceptor can do with songs that kind of talk about the same things..."do me like this...do me like that" you know the typical style of today's mainstream music. I guess that's why they give artists like Ayu the bigger venues simply because she has more to say and people really wanna hear it. There will probably come a time where avex will dig deep in their pockets and give Kuu the arena tour her fans think she deserves but I don't think they'll get the same feelings they would get from *heart-reaching* artists like Ayu. They kind of put a lot into their performances.

I will say this though, I believe the bigger the tour the harder you have to work at staying in shape. It's more than singing, it's dancing, acting and reaching out. You have to do that every day even when you just don't feel like it. So maybe that's another factor as to why Kuu doesn't get those big venues: maybe she's not physically/emotionally prepared for that?

you should not really compare like this. kuu is just to see one song. while, SMAP did the whole performance.

but, anyway, i'm curious to see the both of them dancing. it's says they are dancing a hot dance.

lol, not really. These figures I am assuming are combined figures from an entire tour. So that 50,000 is a combo of all the arenas Ayu played on her last tour. (I'm not saying their numbers are accurate though.) Whereas that 55,000 for SMAP and a duet w/ Kumi is 55,000 for one concert date. Trust me SMAP holds concerts in much larger venues than Ayu does - they easily fill up football stadiums.

Psychotic_X 5th October 2006 03:34 AM

who says Koda isn't heart reaching...?

This is only Koda's 2nd tour... It'd be a major jump from Zepp to Arena/Stadium tours... They are increasing her venues as time goes on so they can see what she's capable of...

This is what Ayu's 303593879484th Tour.... She's been around of over a decade and over the years she acculmulated a tonne of loyal fans within Japan and internationally... That's why she has such large tours... Also the amount of money Avex puts into her tours are immense... Look at her stage designs... She is number #1 in Japan.. And she's been there for awhile...

This article is a load of *******... Where are their facts?! If it was an article about Ayu having an affair or seeing a psychiatrist then its fake... But Ayu being able to pull 50k people and Koda only being able to get 15k is a load of ****...

You can't compare them... Koda recently got big and Avex hasn't given her the chance to pull in 50k people... Give Koda some time.... In a few years she'll be reeling in people... She's reeling them in now with her current tour... Yeah not as much as Ayu but she's got a smaller venue...

Don't go on about not being emotionally prepared or physically prepared... Koda is more than physically prepared that Ayu... She dances rather than just stand there and sing and move a bit here and there....

mishidabo 5th October 2006 03:44 AM

she may not get the crowds now.. but she is getting the sales ^^

ayu_fan929 5th October 2006 03:44 AM

^
^I agree. This is just her 2nd nation wide tour. Last year it was Zepp tours and I don't think she even did 10 shows of those. This year, the venues are slightly larger (hall tours) and she's like 40+ shows in this concert. Maybe after this one, avex might schedule a larger (arena) tour for her.

I think you're confused. It's not "SMAP + Kuu" = 55,000. Kuu was just a surprise guest at one of SMAP's concert. SMAP can easily outsell Ayu in tour tickets.

There is absolutely no relation/connection between "the songs that kind of talk about the same things" and the size of a venue.

alternarist 5th October 2006 05:44 AM

Koda Kumi can only attract men..

Yukitora 5th October 2006 05:53 AM

^actually most of her fanbase are women >_>

Just like the Pussycat Dolls are advertised for girls.

The funny things about tabloids (which makes me not like them very much) is that you always have to try to figure out how much of the information in the is actually useable, by yourself. It gets pretty annoying :D. Also you realize that in the end, what information you have use of is that Ayu draws bigger crowds than Koda ... not really news.

more and more girls in japan are looking up to kuu and trying to imitatie her dress style. i got a whole load of japanese magazine to show for that. and they like kuu for her cute lyrics, which makes them feel happy.:)

back on topic, kuu had a closer image. but let's not forget that she just started having tours and more attention this 2 years. keep this in mind that ayu started Poker Face quite smoothly, and had more fans from the start. while, kuu's career on the other hand is just starting, you can't expect a company to throw big cash now.

who's that?! All the concerts I've seen artists wear 3/4 outfits rather than change after every single song...

yes kuu changes, so does namie, hitomi(shimatani) + others but they are not as dramatic and colorful as ayu's. thats my take on it which is why I prefer ayu's concerts in general. her costumes are fun (may not be the best but, fun), and everything about her stage presense is entertaining. She knows how to cheer an audience.

Yes she is entertaining... she's an awesome performer and she really works a crowd..

Yes well not all artists get GIGANTIC stages where they can come out of a flower or go flying around in cages 100m in the air.... You can't compare Kuu and Ayu or Ayu to any other artist... Obviously Ayu's concerts are going to be more visually impressive... Her stage designs and everything is so awesome... but yeah she gets a tonne of cash into it thats why....

I don't mind the discussion it's just people are so ****in over dramatic about it! They won't rest until one or the other gives up.

immel 5th October 2006 05:16 PM

I agree very much.

I don't care about Koda, although I know more about her then I would like to... as I always try to read all posts, lol.

as i said on the VERY FIRST LINE of my very FIRST POST ...

this is just from a tabloid .. a HK one too .. so don't take it like it is scienitifically proven facts and what not ... I said it's just a nice read ...

some of you can't seem to grasp on this simple simple concept ..

Exactly, and for those who can't grasp that simple fact there's people who make sure to critisize it.

It's terrible how many that actually read and believe blindly in tabloids and text written down by people that they do not know anything about. Some people here are obviously just trying to teach others that text that presents no real arguments, sources, or anything, can't be trusted blindly :).

There isn't any place like that in Japan, unless they like set up a stage out in the open air and has people fill up a huge grass plan or something.

http://www.worldstadiums.com/asia/co...an/kanto.shtml

The biggest one with seats is Yokohoma Intl' Stadium with 72 370 seats.

Mad_Cactuar 6th October 2006 02:54 PM

Well, pretty obvious. Ayu's been famous for like forever and Kuu's just started. I like the fact Ayu has that much people though. :D

hallelujah_united 6th October 2006 04:43 PM

Usually these massive concerts are outdoor ones that are held at a huge park or empty space. Yokohama Stadium MIGHT be able to hold 100,000 though, provided all three stands and the field area are filled to the brim.

I'm sure all the Cantonese here will be slightly amused at the description of Koda Kumi at the part where the report says she appeared in the SMAP concert.

agreed. ayu had been of attention for years and it's no surprise that she can get big crowds, it will be weird if she CAN'T.
while kuu just started to be more popular, and knowing her strong stage performance, she will be able to get more at a future date.
