A Song you disliked then liked
 

Dearest for me...It was my first Ayu song *when I first got into J-pop.*..

I hated it..O_O BADLY...

but now im starting to like it...not enough to Listen to it everyday, but its getting there..^__^

This also goes for some of her older songs...I found them..meh worthy..lol.. but now I actually take the time to listen..some are good..^^ *goes also with most non rock ayu songs haha..I just loved her rockish songs..at first O_O*

xD Dearest was the song I heard first, too. Back in 2003. I hated it. Thought she couldn't sing at all. Now I love that song.

I also didn't like INSPIRE for a very long time. After seeing it performed live, though, I slowly started to like it more and more and now it's one of my favorites.

Her older songs... o__o; They're decent enough. The ASFXX songs are like, beyond repair, sadly.

I still hate Dearest. Agh.

For me, it's Memorial Address. I just liked it yesterday after years of not liking it one bit. And then there's Because Of You, I liked it after I saw the PV. Fairyland too, but I only slightly disliked that one before. About You, I used to hate that one a lot. Now I love it, it's so frantic.

I still hate Dearest... Never liked Dearest... I don't know why so many people liked it.

For me, Most of her songs I disliked before liking them, Especially her ballads. I'd never listened to anyone singing ballads before, so I never really got into liking them, but now, after a year, I love M, and all her other ballads. I'd also have to say, Bold And Delicious... After hearing it at CDL 05-06, It changed my outlook on that song. I think it's fantastic now~

I hated GAME soooooooooooooooo much.

I hated Still Alone but now it's one of my favourites of hers.

I have a feeling that as this thread grows, so will the answers of Bold & Delicious. It was for me - it was loud, obnoxious, painful, schizophonic... far too much. But then I realized how joyful, bold (of course), sassy, and fun it was - plus I think reading the lyrics helped out a lot.

Next up would be HEAVEN. Initially, I found it dull, formulaic, and worthless. But it grew on me very very very slowly. It's gorgeous. Same for HANABI.

Moments is another one - originally, the verses were too plain and the chorus was screechy and nagging. Maybe it helped watching the PV - I'm not sure (well... the PV kind of creeped me out, but anyway) - but it also ended up growing on me with time.

There are a lot of songs for me:

Carols: Didn't know what the fuss was about, but Carols is really a sweet song.
Because of You: Didn't sound like music to my ears the first time I heard it. Now, I think it is a pretty decent rock song.
Dearest: One of my favorites now. Before, I thought it was the most boring song ever.
ASFXX: Never had paid attention, but now, I appreciate it.
B&D: Here we go! I think its pretty obvious why I hated it, but B&D gets me hyped up and puts me in a better mood.
Far Away: Of the Trilogy, I didn't pay any attention to this song, but I catched up soon enough.

I admit, I didn't like most of the album tracks off of My Story when I first heard them....but now they're growing on me, especially since I've read over the lyrics a little more. :)

appears: I used to think that it was very boring but now I find it to be quite the opposite.

HEAVEN: I just thought that was somewhat formulaic (as explodingbird said) and not really special compared to Will, but it's definitely grown on me.

Far Away: I still don't really like this song that much, but I like it slightly more than when I originally heard it :)

before this i hated it like crazy....

seasons- at first it sounded really bland...but now the music and lyrics really touch my heart.

Bold & Delicious! i used to hate it so much, but it is one of my favourite now :D

HEAVEN: Initially, i thought it was a boring ballad with a bad PV. after i realised how much emotions ayu put in in her performances, i like it a lot! the climax blew me off!!

BLUE BIRD: i was shocked that BLUE BIRD was released as the 40th single. it was too simple. den i thought the song was not bad.. :D

Memorial address: Arena Tour 2003 ~ 2004 made me LOVE this song.. :)

i hated WHATEVER when i first heard it, the wow wow wow stuff annoyed the heck outta me but now its one of my favs.

I never hated any ayu song! There are some I hardly listen to, of course. But I like all her songs - some more, others less.

But here's one little story:
vogue - I first listened to it online when I was about to discover ayus music more and more. This was at the beginning of 2002. It didn't grasped my attention. So I didn't download it. I listened to the "Kirari Natsu Ayu Mix" later on and liked it, so I gave the original a try and downloaded it. It was okay.
When I purchased "Duty" (mid-2003) and listened to it on random, the first song to pop up most of the time was "vogue". (As if the CD wanted me to like it. :yes lol) And so eventually after some time it really grew on me. So much that I prefer it over "SEASONS" now, when it comes to "The Trilogy".

I seem to belong to the 0,00001% who liked "Bold & Delicious" right away... :rolleyes :D

There hasn't really been any song I hated that I began to like after a while - tolerate would be the right word - never quite got as far as liking them. I suppose the closest thing would be that her rock-type songs were hard to listen to at first, but the more I listened to the albums from start to finish I got used to them and now I prefer those type of songs.

I loved evolution when I first listened to it, the very first song. Then it took a few days before I actually started listening to other songs, didn't really find any of them very good at first ... gradually, as I discovered more and more of her music, I started liking all of it.

There was never any song that I disliked and then started liking, I guess I am pretty good at judging what I like/don't like from the very start, or simply keep shut until I have an opinion that I am sure of.

Carols : at the beginning, I can't listen it because it's a ballad. Now it's one of my favorite song :D

I didn't like Dearest nor SEASONS.

Bold & Delicious : no guesses why! I think most people will find it really odd, but then grow on you. It's now on of my top 5 Ayu songs.

Fairyland : I heard it when it was first released, at that time I wasn't that into Ayu, and I thought it's beat and tempo were sooooooo messed up and it was a crap song. Then I watched the MY STORY Tour and LOVED Ayu from then on, and I love Fairyland now.....

AUDIENCE; UNITE!, vogue, poker face, trust, depend on you and many others ( I wasn´t able to stand her dunno why....now I love her....)

Pride - This, along with In The Corner (which I still dislike with a passion), was the worst song on (miss)understood for me at first, I thought the chorus was really-really annoying, but as time went on, I really started liking this song and now I love it. That can't be said about In The Corner, sadly. :D

CAROLS - I had heard so many good things about this song, so when I finally downloaded it, I listened to it, and I was like "WTF? That's it?! This song is so LAME." I hated it. I ended up performing it as my senior solo in my last chorus performance in high school. I had the piano music and everything.

SURREAL: I always thought it was kinda crappy so I never listened to it the full way through then I heard it on AT 2005 and I thought it was great :D

For me, it was Beautiful Fighters because when I first listened to it I thought the song was a joke but now I like it a lot.

I didn't quite dislike it, but I didn't pay UNITE! a lot of attention when I first heard it. Then I saw a live I liked, listened to it again and now it's one of my favourites. Because of You is another song that I kind of ignored the first time around.

Evolution: in the beginning I thought it had a wierd beat, but now it's like on the top of my most played list.

I think I ignored the 'new trilogy' until AT05 had a piece of it :p

Liar, HOPE or PAIN, HAPPY ENDING.. :p

I really hated NEVER EVER at first :gnash

I hated it from the CM for the single. Could not stand it and could not stand it in the Visee CM. Now it has become one of my ultimate favs!

I hated this song as well. But after listening to the Memorial Address CD a bunch of times, I grew to like it and had it on repeat for several days!

I disliked Heartplace when everyone else loved it. I hated it. It was so disappointing.

I used to hate STEP you and Bold & Delicious a lot. XDDD
When I first heard STEP you, I was kinda angry with the loss of the rockless heard in the Panasonic CM, but now I love it. XD With B&D, I hated it with the preview from the site, when I turned up the speakers and was scared with screaming nuns. XDDDDD It got better the more I listened to it.

I HATED Angel Song at first, but one day when i had the album on extremely loud that song suddenly clicked with me ^^. Love it now

HEAVEN... I didn't like it based off of the trailer for Shinobi. Then I heard the full version, and it slowly grew on me.

HOPE or PAIN... I thought it was meh at first, but now I really like it, especially after hearding the classical version.
