Ayumi&Koda- So friendly!
 

Just saw the performance from MS! Gotta say it is one enjoyable MS imho! Did you all see how friendly Ayu and Koda were? They were talking to each other throughout the show! So I want to ask your opinions on it Hehe

Yep, I noticed it as well and posted about it in the MS news thread. :)

I thought it was something like when someone talks to you but you don't wanna talk to them but you pretend to be nice cause you don't wanna hurt there feelings and other people are watching.

Often times it was Ayu leaning over to talk to Koda.

Maybe they are just normal humans who can be friendly towards eachother?

I know they beling to the extremely aggressing artist-breed, but come one people, you know Ayu is a good person :).

No, but seriously... what is it that makes this require so much attention? It's a smart move from avex, if Ayu and Koda are friendly with eachother their fans will be too, and they'll start thinking that buying CDs from both artists isn't blasphemy against their favourite.

I'm guessing it's to show people that Ayu is not hateful to Koda due to 'selling more' :| or w/e..

Yeah I agree with your thoughts and I am also thinking that Avex asked them to be friendly so that both sides are balanced!!

I actually think that Kuu quite likes Ayu...why shouldn't they be nice to each other? Because they are "rivals"? (as if anyone could rival ayu) Come on people, can we all just grow up a bit?

There's a difference between being friendly to someone, because of respect and kindness and being friendly because you really get along with someone. And I think it's a visible difference.

I don't wanna get killed by Ku's fans, but... Rivalry? That's ridicilous. They are totally different just as their music styles, in fact - Kumi is after sexier image, she's more like a body-seller now, even though her music has improved a lot. She doesn't writes her own lyrics & music, etc. Ayumi is just pure beauty & splendid singer. She is the most talented singer I even heard about. She does write all of her amazing and such meaningful lyrics just by herself and she composes some of the most enjoyable melodies :luv2 Despite that I was a big Kumi fan (she was my top artist for a long time, just before Ayu) and she was my very first japanese artist, I'm with Ayu.

If you were a big time Kuu fan, you know that Kuu writes most of her lyrics..
There are songs where she doesn't write it but she writes most of her lyrics..
Yeah she may not write her own but that doesn't make her less of an artist..

Namie doesn't write any lyrics for her singles... BoA doesn't write that many either.. she writes a few but not nearly as much as Kuu... That doesn't make her lesser of an artist and it doesn't make Kuu better...

Just because you write music and lyrics doesn't make you better than someone else.. It jsut means you contribute more to your releases.. and maybe theyre more personal and related to your emotions....

I just got disappointed in Ku pretty much a lot. And I didn't mean that she's worse cuz she doesn't writes her own lyrics or music. I just like Ayu much more. It's not a silly comment, it's my opinion, I do think what I say, my dear friend.
And I do know how many lyrics Kumi wrote or co-wrote herself, just in case you wonder. Still, at the same time, I'm Kumi's fan and I'm not trying to say that she sucks or something. She's just not as good as she once was. At least for me.

Actually, I think it's a Music Station gimmick? It's like the reason why there's Mini Music Station where artistes talk to each other. I do think that through such a way, artistes really do get to know each other and it boost the ratings of the TV show knowing that artistes are good friends with each other.

In the past, you could only hear rumours like "I heard Ayu and Kaori Mochida and Hirai Ken are good friends and that they send e-mails to each other", but I think with Music Station, it kind of "affirms" this belief, and that artistes do know of each other's music and existence. (Just as how during an artiste's Music Station history they show other artistes singing to each other's songs) It's kind of a mutual respect that has the potential effect to offset the viewer ratings.

Urgh, it's the entire Ku vs. Ayu thing all over again. I like them both and I think that both of them are excellent artistes! Well, I think Ku has some songs that have great meaning like Rain, wow, really really meaningful lyrics. And Ayu, what can I say, GREAT meanings in her lyrics. She really makes you look at things from a new perspective.

I think both of them are equally good. Just because Ku has poppy tunes with raunchy lyrics doesn't necessarily mean she's shallow. Would you say the same for Namie too? No, it's a style that they choose to adopt. I mean sometimes I think what they're trying to project is that of music that is more closely associated with the rhythm, beat and feel. Lyrics may become a secondary component in that sense. However, that does not in any way mean that the artiste is shallow, as what some of you are suggesting about Ku. I think it's a fallacy you've made to assume that just because she has some raunchy lyrics and seemingly "senseless" lyrics in her songs necessitates that most of her songs are like that. You're not even giving Ku a chance in the argument.

Anyway, the topic here is on the "seeming" friendliness between Ku and Ayu so can we please end this rivalry thing now?

I love Kumi's lyrics, they are easier to understand. I never bother to analyze Ayu's lyrics. Not even my top favorite Shiina Ringo.

I'm listening their music, because of their music, their voice, their performance. If a singer writes a complicated lyrics, I would rather read Shakespeare's (sp?) novels than reading any artists' lyrics.
