Ayu and Ken Hirai to perform on CNN International?

Yeah, it seems a little fishy, but.. it's quite interesting. Anyone who can loosely translate is welcome to do so. <3

Excite:
Singer, Ayumi Hamasaki (28), and "World advancement" Katashi Hirai (34) from Katashi Hirai of ..walking.. & CNN will do "World advancement" through news special channel CNN of the United States. The one that guest performs to "Toque Asia" (December 4-8 later 11.30) produced with CNNj for Japan. Hamasaki and Hirai are the schedules of being broadcast to 200 countries or more in the world through international CNN as for this program, and will be introduced as a singer who represents not only Japan but also Asia.

It was two people that did "World advancement" as singer's Japanese representative who led literally as man and woman's solo artist.

To tell the truth, the long interview program is the first time though the toque in the popular music show etc. and interviews with the documentary program and the newspaper and the magazine have the experience by Hamasaki. How cooked Hamasaki with the toque of 30 minutes so that the foreigner such as CNN Tokyo correspondents may serve as the interviewer seems to be paid to attention though collection will be done on the ninth.

The toque is known as other Hirai is contrary with a damp singing voice by a light thing. Collection has already ended in here, and the content of the interview is called the topic in music a center. Here is attention. what expression Hirai shows aiming at the world

"Toque Asia" is "Approach a personal worldwide, famous person side" talk show. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe (52) performs in the past, and champion sumo wrestler and Cotoou states (23) of five night continuous broadcasting besides Hamasaki and Hirai appear this time.

It is inevitable that two artists who represent Japan because it extends it to each country of Europe, Asia, and as many as 200 countries including the United States attract attention in broadcasting. The activity that puts the world in view can be expected of two people (Hamasaki and Hirai) in the future, too.

evolusean 7th November 2006 04:39 AM

Here is my translation. This article sounds to be legit... We shall see!

Quote:

Ayu & Ken Hirai's "Global Expansion" via CNN

Singers Ayumi Hamasaki (28) and Ken Hirai (34) will partake in "global expansion" via American news specialty channel, CNN. They will make guest appearances on CNNj's Japan-aimed "Talk Asia" (Dec 4-8, 11:30pm). Through the program, which is set to be broadcast in over 200 countries on CNN International, Hamasaki and Hirai will be introduced as singers representing not only Japan, but Asia.

The two will "expand globally" on behalf of Japan, as they were on the record as the top market-leading male and female solo artists.

Although Hamasaki has experience being interviewed for newspapers and magazines, and also during music program talk shows & documentaries, this is in fact her first long interview. Her recording is set to take place on the 9th, but due to a foreigner serving as the interviewer, it seems CNN Tokyo correspondents are focused on how Hamasaki will be dealt with in the 30-minute talk.

Meanwhile, Hirai's talk, in contrast to his mellow singing voice, is understood to be light-hearted. Having already finished his recording, the topic of music is said to have been the heart of the interview. There is much concern with how Hirai, as well, will come accross to the world.

"Talk Asia" (a sort of "Drawing Close to the Personal Side of World Celebrities" talk show) has, in the past, featured Prime Minister Shinzou Abe (52); and in addition to Hamasaki and Hirai, oozeki Shuu Kotoou (23) will make an appearance on this show, which will air for five consecutive nights.

Based on the fact alone that the broadcast will go into over 200 countries including the United States, Europe, and Asia, the two Japanese artists are certain to gain attention. Following this, it seems we can expect efforts with the world in sight from both Hamasaki and Hirai.
* oozeki is a title of rank in Sumou. I believe it is the 2nd highest.

truehappiness 7th November 2006 04:43 AM

Thanks so much evolusean! I wonder what she'll say! :D

"Oh. I'm happy to be a representative for Japan :)!"

Hopefully someone in New York can capture this! :D

CNN International is a different channel than CNN. The city isn't relevant, it depends if the cable or satellite service carries the channel. Hope some Ayu fan out there gets this network.

truehappiness 7th November 2006 05:01 AM

Oh, I know..

I looked at CNN International's site and they said that New York was one of the few carriers of the channel.. so maybe? :D

~X2RADialbomber~ 7th November 2006 06:36 AM

Well I won't be able to see it, because I don't have Satellite, but OMG THIS IS AWESOME! I hope it's true!

If it all turns out to be true we can at least be sure of that Ayu isn't planning on giving up her career in the nearest future.

Thanks Sean for the translation.

I don't have CNNi. Does anyone up here have Direct TV Satellite? Maybe you can tell me what channel number it is so I can make sure. Going through 2500+ different channels is a little hard. I tried looking through where most of the news stations are but I didn't see it.

ayu1m 7th November 2006 03:17 PM

Thx for posting&transl

bokuga_shinjite 7th November 2006 03:30 PM

ohsixthirty 7th November 2006 06:31 PM

interesting. possibly true, but i'll wait and see.

i wonder about that line there at the end though, that says ayumi and ken will both have more of a world focus after the interview. it sounded like they meant career-wise, they'd be interested in the world, or did they mean that simply a lot of the world could possibly see the interview?

i don't get this channel anyhow, so if its true, i hope someone wil get it online.

micster 7th November 2006 06:33 PM

oooooooooo, sounds interestin'

IYFreak 7th November 2006 08:50 PM

*sighs* AYu probabaly won't be on there.

Dustie 7th November 2006 08:54 PM

Interesting. Is CNN International free to air (FTA)?... I think I saw it on the list on my satellite reciever...

IYFreak 7th November 2006 08:55 PM

yeah its free.

Olw---A 7th November 2006 08:56 PM

it's weird to see Ayu on US TV... simply she doesn't care 'bout the rest of the world (I talk about her business not the rest)... She doesn't want to export her music and she focuses on asian teritories... personnaly I think that's too strange to be true...

BUT IHOPE SHE'LL BE THERE... PLEASE AYU HEAR MY MESSAGE => go to CNN even if you're not invited !!!

IYFreak 7th November 2006 09:14 PM

^ What tha how can she go if she snot invited...just walk in on the show Lol thata would be funny then it would be like she's a Super Diva

I doubt she will sing, but it is most certain that they will lace the interview with some sort of clip(s) of her videos and/or concert footage. It's not really a talk-show talk show with musical guests and an audience. It's more of a news desk type, educational discussion show. I assume it will be something like the interview BoA did for PBS a few years ago.

Most literally translated, 世界を視野に入れた活動も期待できそうだ says "It seems we can expect activities with the world in their field of vision," meaning that the writer assumes this will encourage Ayu and Ken to do more work on a global level, as opposed to just in Japan.

It's not really an effort to promote herself, though. It is a cultural show, to educate people about the things that are out there beyond our own borders. It seems she and Ken were both asked to be guests because she is an influential person in Japanese business and culture. It's not to advance their careers (although that may be a positive side effect). Like I mentioned above, BoA did something similar with PBS a few years back, so it's not too strange.

evolution7931 7th November 2006 09:54 PM

Omg that'd be wicked.

Ayumiko 7th November 2006 10:37 PM

who's that mysterious shadow for december 8th? could that be ayu?

immel 7th November 2006 10:38 PM

Looking at how they have been revealed up till now I think that the shadow in question will be revealed tomorrow.

Jo-chan 7th November 2006 11:48 PM

I've got the show set up to record on my DVR. Thanks for the info!

IYFreak 7th November 2006 11:54 PM

so then is it official that AYu will appear or not it hasn't been confirmed yet

immel 7th November 2006 11:55 PM

It's not been confirmed yet.

AyuRlz 8th November 2006 12:56 AM

Loves! haha, this is indeed good publicity for both of them. for japan and the rest of asia too!

truehappiness 8th November 2006 01:54 AM

It hasn't been confirmed, but honestly, I think that it'd be dumb to doubt this.. especially when Ken's is confirmed.. :D

Ayumiko 8th November 2006 02:01 AM

is daily.co.jp reliable for 'rumors' like this??

truehappiness 8th November 2006 02:02 AM

Well, it's not so much a rumor..

I just labeled it as gossip because I wasn't sure if it was true exactly. I think it's less of a rumor/piece of gossip now and is more.. fact.. :D

http://www.jctv.co.jp/cnnj/japannow/index.html
You can see Ken Hirai if you scroll down to the TALK ASIA week of 12/4 - 8.. Ayu is going to be at the very end of that schedule most likely [on the 8th] since there's like, still no one there. XD

paperbag 8th November 2006 02:14 AM

If she is appearing on the show, does that mean she will speak English during her interview? Wasn't she learning English on her big break?

truehappiness 8th November 2006 02:18 AM

Dubbing over the people they interview is something Talk Asia seems to love doing. D:

Ayumiko 8th November 2006 02:25 AM

eww...like iron chef...lol...

truehappiness 8th November 2006 02:26 AM

CNN.com will always have an English / whatever language they have transcript of the interview for anyone that can't see the interview [unlikely since Ayu fans are like.. yeah.. XDD]

kaue_ 8th November 2006 02:30 AM

LOL! Dubbed Ayu, now that's going to be funny!

I think they mean foreign as in someone who isn't Japanese, but is asian and only knowns English or something.. :P

the mysterious figure for the 8th...
looks more like a manly figure than a female...
and ayu is quite petit....
plus there's 3 bubbles/circle under the shadow
ayu's name has 5 character
but that one has 3....
unless they put the chinese version of ayu's name
then that'll work...weird to see that though
chinese letters in a japanese site...

Well, duh? :P

Anyway, now that this is confirmed, -pokes staff to remove the [GOSSIP] from the title-~

immel 9th November 2006 02:40 PM

It's written like her artist name, surname in kanji and first name in hiragana.

Or what do you mean?

truehappiness 9th November 2006 02:44 PM

They were just all: "WTF THREE SPACES" but it was probably like that since most names tend to have three characters or something so it's just the template.. :P

So they were just saying: OH, so it was in hiragana after all! :D

evolusean 9th November 2006 05:39 PM

Most Japanese names have 4 or 5 characters. The 3 other guests shown are weirdos, with their 3-character names. Korean and Chinese names usually have 2 or 3.

But really, I think the 3 circles were just related to the Japan Now logo (the N-O-W are each in their own circle).

maneayu 9th November 2006 06:29 PM

Whose that third guy that's going to be on the show? He looks so familiar. I want to say the guy behind Nintendo but I'm not sure.

As for the program, I don't think I have that channel, but my GrandMommy-Mom does! Time to pay her a visit ^_^. Psych, I always visit my Mammy-Mammommy-Moms!

I'm pretty sure it's Shigeru Miyamoto, the dude behind Nintendo.
