realize_! 27th November 2006 01:39 AM

THAT'S the cover for "The Sweet Escape"!? -bleh- it's horrible. The song's better make up for it.

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 27th November 2006 01:48 AM

The song's do make up for it. There amazing!

Mad_Cactuar 27th November 2006 02:29 AM

Yay Gwen! She's currently on the top of my priority list. I must get The Sweet Escape first. It's a pretty good album, and it'll definitely grow on me like L.A.M.B did.

No Doubt = <3

Simple Kind Of Life I love lots.

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 27th November 2006 04:42 AM

The Sun reports that with Gwen Stefani set to release her second solo album 'The Sweet Escape' next month, the singer is looking forward to returning to No Doubt soon. "I don't think I will make another solo album," she said. "I can't predict anything, but I don't plan on making one of these solo dance project records. I definitely feel myself going back to No Doubt after this to do a new album."

Well that disappoints me. I do like No Doubt, but I like her solo stuff a lot more (at least L.A.M.B.). Wind It Up is really growing on me, like I thought it would, but I can't wait to hear the rest of the album. Regardless, I'll buy it the day it comes out, since albums are usually the cheapest on the week of their release.

Quite dissapointing but I doubt she has enough creativity left in herself to make another album. I think she needs a 3 year break before she considers another album. Despte still being incredible, The Sweet Escape isn't as magical as L.A.M.B and I suppose she should enjoy a few years with No Doubt bottling up her dance/pop ideas until she can't take it anymore.

On the bright side, I absolutely love No Doubt and I wonder how will they sound now, since Gwen has a whole new pop sound to her. Will they sound different? I hope so!

spookshow 27th November 2006 08:36 AM

the sweet escape leaked some time last week, but it's a crappy version so i'm waiting for a better version to leak before i listen

wind it up is so catchy! i love that song!

Keishi 27th November 2006 03:18 PM

Wind It Up is addictive. But seriously. It scared the hell out of me. O_O No matter how good the song is. The yodeling is the one that freaked me out the most.

HvnSntGurl 27th November 2006 05:50 PM

I felt the same way. When I first heard it I thought it was crazy.
Then again all her music is kind of like that. So I got used to it.

AFTERSCHOOL 28th November 2006 04:25 AM

I hate it. Die, Wind It Up.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Gwen. Wind It Up is just BLAH though.

moombasista 28th November 2006 06:06 AM

Gwen/No Doubt fans: Please post in this thread only.

The starter of the other thread is an idiot and had made it a point that they were deleting all of their posts and never returning to AHS.

Now, suddenly they're back trying to edit their posts to make the tread look more like mine.

Please don't post in that other thread. We've moved on. Wind it up!!

OMG YAY! Even though I love Gwen's solo stuff, I miss No Doubt

Tragic Kingdom and Rock Steady are 2 of my all time favorite albums EVER!

I didn't really like it at first LOL

But now it's not bad I guess

explodingbird 28th November 2006 06:59 AM

They have a right to post in whichever thread they wish to.

Anyway. The new album's okay. Not great, but some great songs populate it - Fluorescent. Mmmm.

Yummy is totally Milkshake part 2.

The title track is annoying as hell, though, and the album cover is hideous.

moombasista 28th November 2006 07:07 AM

Yes they do but why can't you be on my side TJ?

OMG I thought we were friends *sobs*

AFTERSCHOOL 28th November 2006 02:33 PM

The thread there has more posts. O_o

Mad_Cactuar 28th November 2006 02:54 PM

But that person was being a senseless and mean and even talked about about AHS fans. I believe you missed the whole drama Winterkill, you have no idea how much she did because she was pissed.

I love the title track, only heard it once but the loop got stuck in my head since. She cusses a lot on the new CD. :eek The pictures in the booklet are quite pretty, aside from one or two that made her look like a man in drag.

Keishi 28th November 2006 04:02 PM

I like how Wind It Up video is a big parody of Sound Of Music. :laugh
I can't figure up what is the blue dress scene though. I doubt if that one is from Sound Of Music too.

BabyUtada 28th November 2006 07:04 PM

Does anyone know when The Sweet Escape is being released????....I'm on the edge of my seat here!!!! LOL! I can't get enough Gwen...and her Harajuku Girls. :D She just had a baby and now she's releasing an album....yay! Gwen!!!!!

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 28th November 2006 11:22 PM

Release dates:

December 2nd - Australia
December 4th - World
December 5th - North America

I think the Harajuku girls are kind of gone for this album.

^ yea I know... I'm so excited, I can't wait. I get it before everyone else here *evil laugh*

namiie 29th November 2006 01:34 AM

I love Gwen's solo stuff but trutfully, I think she is better off with No Doubt. Her vocal capabilities truly shine with ND ^_^ I'm a big fan of "Love Angel Music Baby" and "The Sweet Escape" sounds like it will be promising...however, if I listen to "Wind It Up" too much I get a little bit of a headache o_o

Keishi 29th November 2006 03:23 AM

Kingofpop: I think those blonde girls are the Harajuku girls.

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 29th November 2006 03:29 AM

^ yea but they just seem like normal dancers now... there's no harajuku feel.

moombasista 29th November 2006 03:35 AM

I think the harajuku girls are like... over

I'm glad 'cause they were annoying

Keishi 29th November 2006 03:49 AM

Lol yeah. They are a bit over the top, in terms of dressing. But oh well. Most of Japanese are all like that.

moombasista 29th November 2006 06:57 AM

OMG harajuku LOL

hallelujah_united 29th November 2006 03:13 PM

This **** is bananas! :laugh

I promise to take pictures with them when I visit Japan. :)

Weslicious 29th November 2006 05:02 PM

The Harajuku girls are scary in Wind It Up.

I've just found out 'Love' used to dance for kuu :)

She's gonna have to keep the Harajuku girls for a while LAMB wasn't toured in Europe so when she tours Sweet Escape I'm guessing there'll be lots of LAMB songs and many mentions of Harajuku.
Plus she's got the Harajuku Lovers clothing line.

Mad_Cactuar 29th November 2006 11:15 PM

Are you guys sure? o.o I thought those were normal white dancers?

moombasista 30th November 2006 01:44 AM

It looks like the harajuku girls to me :shrug

http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/2616/dancersid3.jpg

What does this key mean?

http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/9171/keyqv1.jpg

Mad_Cactuar 30th November 2006 11:55 AM

Yeah, looks Asian to me. Wow, she did that to the Harajuku Girls? :dead2

I think it's a Gwen key or a symbolic whatever, but it looks nice.

Next single is "Yummy", confirmed by promos being sent to stores and stations, says Wikipedia. It beat "The Sweet Escape". Not good. Both are good songs, but "TDE" has a bigger chance at success with A-Corny stuck in it.

Keishi 30th November 2006 11:59 AM

I think that's the key that she used to 'wind' her girls up.

Damn, can we have like SOME songs on the top 10 that aren't R&B/hip-hop influenced? PLEASE? I mean, no disrepsect for the genres, I'm just getting sick of it. Glad the song got so high, though... it's good. Beyoncé deserves to be there too. But I want Carrie Underwood to make it ;_;

And I still think the album is just.... okay. Love.Angel.Music.Baby was much better - Gwen wasn't rappnig so much and mashed up a larger variety of genres. It didn't feel as... empty and cold as The Sweet Escape does.

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 3rd December 2006 08:52 AM

Yay! GO GWEN!!, Damn Akon!

Mad_Cactuar 3rd December 2006 09:37 AM

Despite being the countdown for years (it sure seemed like it), Before She Cheats is still gaining points. Which is quite astonishing.

Now I'm hoping Say It Right returns Furtado to the Top 10, a big shame that Maneater only got as high as #16, given that it was a slice of extra-good pop.

explodingbird 3rd December 2006 09:52 AM

Hee hee. Before SHE Cheats. Hee hee.

It slipped back down to #19, but I'm honestly hoping it leaps into the top 10. It'd be too much to hope for #1, but that'd be AWESOME.

Say it Right > Maneater, to me... Say it Right is one of my favorite songs off of Loose. I hope it makes the top 10 too.

Mad_Cactuar 3rd December 2006 09:55 AM

Hee hee, glad you saw that it was intentional. When has there been a proper "I CHEATED ON MY MAN, I'MMA HOE, SO WHAT?!" song? The only cheating song from a woman's perspective has been Rihanna. Lyric writing can bear with a little more originality.

explodingbird 3rd December 2006 10:06 AM

Noty necessarily. TLC's done some cheating songs. Monica has Don't Gotta Go Home with DMX, where she plays his mistress. There are plenty of cheating songs from the woman's point of view. You just gotta dig.

Anyway! To veer the topic back onto Gwen, I... don't care much for No Doubt but I still can't wait to hear what they come up with next year. Sucks that apparently, she's done with the solo stuff, but if The Sweet Escape is any indication, she really should quit before she truly screws up (and this album comes close on many occasions, something LAMB managed to avoid. Except for the catchy but EXTREMELY EMBARRASSING Harajuku Girls).

moombasista 5th December 2006 12:14 AM

Gwen will be the musical guest on SNL on December 9

Norrel 6th December 2006 03:39 AM

Yay, just bought Sweet Escape and Harajuku Lovers tour ^_^

I love how you can give Sweet Escape an alternate cover with the booklet

JaysenRyan 6th December 2006 03:49 AM

I heard WIND IT UP on the radio today, for the first time, and I cannot believe how generic and boring it is. I actually liked the Yodeling for some scary reason, but the song as a whole is very boring. It's a knockoff of Hollaback Girl with some What you waiting for smashed in, and it stinks. Sorry, not trying to bash cuz i love Gwen, but this single sucks.

Gwen's SNL performance was pretty good. The dance is neat, I think.

Wonder why she just performed once, though. =/

Ahh, really? Reminds me of when No Doubt did that with Rock Steady (and when Michelle Branch did it with The Spirit Room). Good thing, too, the normal cover sucks.

Course, I... won't be buying it for awhile anyway, so...

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 11th December 2006 03:41 AM

Yay! I got the sweet escape and it's the special edition.

It comes with:

"Wind It Up" (Harajuku Lovers live version) - 3:26 (iTunes pre-order version, Europe / UK / Australia Special Edition version, Japan)

"Orange County Girl" (Harajuku Lovers live - video) (Europe / UK / Australia Special Edition version, Japan)

I also think the alterate cover is better so i'm using it. For the moment.

Here are lame scans since my digital camera is broken.

Mad_Cactuar 11th December 2006 03:45 AM

She looks a little drag in the second cover, although that's a pretty angle and pose.

moombasista 11th December 2006 04:16 AM

Cool scans KoP

The SNL performance sucked. She looked like ew

Watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uJ3OebhszM

Here are some pictures from the TRL performance:

drewbilation 11th December 2006 06:51 AM

Wow, I love her hair in the TRL performance.

Mad_Cactuar 11th December 2006 08:38 AM

I agree, she does look like ew, sista. Ew. I absolutely detest the hairdo especially if looked at from the front. Sideways it's not as ew though.

explodingbird 11th December 2006 09:24 AM

Jesus Christ. That's hideous... reminds me of her pictures in the Rock Steady booklet.

It's even worse than when Nadia Turner wore a fro-hawk for American Idol 4:

truehappiness 11th December 2006 09:42 AM

Wind it up~

Yodel - lay - e - yodel - lay - e - yodel - o~

Anyways, I think that the song is annoying, but it's eerily.. addictive D:

explodingbird 11th December 2006 09:47 AM

I've heard tales of people who actually love The Sweet Escape - the song, that is - and think Akon sounds cool or is barely noticeable on there.

If only. I'm all for "different strokes for different folks," but that's ridiculous.

Mad_Cactuar 11th December 2006 10:05 AM

I love that song, and I also like Nadia Turner. But Akon sucks and so does Nadia's hairstyle in that picture.

Keishi 11th December 2006 10:40 AM

Err....random but....

what song did she sample for the Hollaback Girl song?

Weslicious 11th December 2006 12:57 PM

It's got a bit of Queens 'ANother One Bites The Dust'. It's not sampled as such and I don't think it's credited in the album booklet.

Ayumi-Yummi 12th December 2006 08:29 AM

I have a different special ed. version of the album, the bonus disc is a DVD with the Wind It Up video from Harajuku Lover's DVD, and some behind the scenes of making 2 songs from the new album (one song with Tony from No Doubt the other with Pharell), and the AOL interviews from like 2004. Also there are the making the tour clips also on the Harajuku Lovers tour DVD. This bonus DVD is kinda neat.

explodingbird 12th December 2006 09:02 AM

Is it just me, or, these days... basically, I've noticed, a lot of albums... their single covers are just pictures from the album's photoshoot, so those pictures show up in the album as well. Anyone else noticed that? Gwen didn't do that before, but with this album, definitely. And... I dunno. It kind of ruins things. I know physical singles aren't a big thing outside of Japan, and so covers aren't as big a deal either. But I wish they'd just... try something different, give us new pictures.

Mad_Cactuar 12th December 2006 09:13 AM

I realized that, but I kinda like it. It's like chapters ripped off from a book, has this whole "family" feel to the albums and singles. Look at Fergie. That wench didn't use the mock Fergalicious cover in her booklet and went with a worse one instead.

But the Japanese ones are cool, still. I love the elaborate photoshoots and designs for each single and album, it's so varied and individualistic. But the single designs often have nothing to do whatsoever with the album's art concept.

Unless you're Gwen Stefani and can somehow have a set of singles and album covers that are all different and unpredictable and still maintain cohesion and prettiness. Speaking of L.A.M.B of course.

I don't think Gwen will use more pictures from her album for the next single since the others are all similar to the cover. Which would be a mess, since she already used something from the album. She might as well used the crying picture for Wind It Up.

Keishi 12th December 2006 07:47 PM

I think there's more other sampled beats other than that. I don't really recognize though, but HG is a really familiar song. o_O

It has been done since like...long time ago, AFAIK.
On a random note, Angela Aki also did the same thing with her singles & album. The standing pose. The big font on the center.

And yeah, I doubt if she's going to use the 'album' promo pic as the next single's cover. Or maybe, the single cover is going to be her boobs & the key necklace.

moombasista 12th December 2006 09:28 PM

explodingbird 13th December 2006 05:39 AM

Gwen's got a greasy hand. Ew. And she looks ANGRYYYYYYYY.

And she kind of has Mariah Face going on there.

Mad_Cactuar 13th December 2006 05:49 AM

Damn, I'm SO NERVOUS. Ciara and the Dreamgirls are releasing on the same day, I hope Gwen does well! I saw Wiki, somebody added the chart position for The Sweet Escape that states #3 and I really hope that's false false false.

Ciara did 340,000 or so I've heard. Can Gwen really beat that? I hope hope hope so! OMG, anticipation! I'm more psyched up now than Secret (as Ayu never fails getting #1). SOMEONE TELL ME!! How did the album do? Shouldn't we all know by now?!

From what I understand, it's expected to hit #3 at around 250K. It was a pretty weak release week anyway, and I don't mind, since the album wasn't that great anyway. We should know for sure tomorrow, though.

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 13th December 2006 06:24 AM

OMG! it has to better than that, even Janet managed to debut at number 2.

But for Ciara to beat that by 90,000 copies is... moronic. Her album was a lot weaker, IMO. Yeah, initial reviews have been a little better than The Sweet Escape, but I'm sure the negative ones will crop up by next week.

Gwen debuted at #5 last year with 309,000 copies I think. I don't mind if she debuted outside the Top 50, but she should be able to beat Ciara shouldn't she? Her singles have all been doing better than Ciara. Even with the dismal chart positions for What You Waiting For in the US enabled it to debut with over 300,000 copies, Wind It Up got #6 this time! I was expecting 600,000 y'know. :weep Justin Timberlake can, why not Gwen?

Am I the only one who thinks that this album is another masterpiece? :bshake It's so awesome.

Curse them who leaked the CD! :gnash

I think it's a masterpiece too, there is not a single song on the album that I hate and so many that I love. There were a few I disliked at the start but they grew on me. ATM i'm liking it more than L.A.M.B

Mad_Cactuar 13th December 2006 06:42 AM

Yep, I felt the same way at first. "OMG LAMB IS BETTER" etc. Now I like this CD a little more, but they're both awesome.

Ciara's The Evolution leaked 2 weeks ago, according to isohunt.
Gwen's The Sweet Escape leaked 3.3 weeks ago.

Damn it's so annoying. First Ayu debuts with terrible sales, now Gwen. Why are all the good guys getting the bad sales? :cry I want 300,000 copies taken off from FutureSex/LoveSounds and added to The Sweet Escape. And I want Koda's Black Cherry to leak NOW.

firefox 13th December 2006 10:13 AM

4 in the morning is my only favorite...

explodingbird 13th December 2006 10:21 AM

Ehh, a lot of people think the album was mediocre. That's all there is to it. People like different music for different reasons.

And leaking really has nothing to do with sales. Mariah Carey's album got leaked a couple of weeks early and look how it did. Justin Timberlake? His new album leaked like... a month before the release date, I believe. It was very early in any case. People bought it because they liked what they heard.

A bunch of different things factor into why things sell the way they do, but why make a big fuss over it? Won't change the sales.

Mad_Cactuar 13th December 2006 03:09 PM

WOOHOO, got my copy. Not a special edition (heard that was an exclusive for Australia) but mine's good enough. Wish it didn't have that live track tacked on the end. Anyway, yep, confirmed, all tracks brilliant. Except the live track, I hate live tracks. I even avoid the mp3's, but this one is tacked on the CD. Damn.

Akon's appearance is extremely limited. He has like two lines in total, and even those are drowned out by the WOOOOs. Pharell is more audible in the other tracks but he's way better when he's not doing his solo crap.

The icy, ballady like tracks are simply beautiful. It's like being in a whole new world. Wonderful Life especially. And Yummy is just plain crazy frickin awesome it should have been the first single.

I want the singles to be:
1) Wind It Up
2) The Sweet Escape
3) Now That You Got It
4) Yummy
5) Wonderful Life

and if possible...
6) Orange County Girl
7) Breakin' Up

Swizz Beatz contribution was obvious from the "HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY!" in the background. Identical to his contribution to B'Day, Get Me Bodied.

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 13th December 2006 11:25 PM

Hehe.

I want the singles to be:

Wind it up
Yummy
Wonderful life
Breakin' Up
Don't get it twisted

moombasista 14th December 2006 12:14 AM

OMG Chris those are so cute!

Billboard

Ciara's "Ciara: The Evolution" leads three new titles onto the top three spots on The Billboard 200, bowing at No. 1 with 338,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The LaFace set achieves the R&B starlet's best charting position and sales week ever. Ciara's debut effort, 2004's "Goodies," entered at No. 3 with 125,000 and has sold 2.63 million to date.

The Shady/Aftermath/Interscope compilation "Eminem Presents: The Re-Up" lands at No. 2 with 309,000. Featuring a host of new Eminem tracks plus appearances from 50 Cent and members of the Shady Records roster, the album comes a year after Eminem's "Curtain Call: The Hits" opened at No. 1 with 441,000.

Gwen Stefani one-ups the peak position of her smash 2004 Interscope solo debut "Love.Angel.Music.Baby" with "The Sweet Escape," which debuts at No. 3 with 243,000. Its predecessor opened at No. 7 but eventually climbed to No. 5 thanks to the success of singles like "Hollaback Girl."

The soundtrack to Disney's "Hannah Montana" falls 2-4 in its seventh week on the chart despite a 47% increase in sales to 243,000. The Sony BMG Strategic Marketing Group/EMI/Universal/Zomba hits compilation "NOW 23" slips 4-5 with 185,000 (+20%).

Il Divo's "Siempre" (SYCO/Columbia) experiences a 128% sales boom, re-entering the top 10 with a 16-6 surge. Fueled in part by a Dec. 6 appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," the group's "Ancora" also rockets forward 161-87, a 174% increase, while "The Christmas Collection" moves 3-1 on the Top Pop Catalog chart with a nearly 200% boost in sales.

Chris Daughtry's 19 Recordings/RCA debut "Daughtry" falls 3-7 with 155,000, a flat sales change, while the new Beatles collection "Love" (Apple Corps Ltd./Capitol) drops 5-8 with 152,000 (+3%). Sarah McLachlan's Arista holiday album "Wintersong" dips 7-9 with 137,000 and an 18% sales increase. Carrie Underwood, who won two Billboard Music Awards last week, inches up 13-10 with "Some Hearts" (Arista Nashville) on a 50% sales boost to 126,000.

Most of the performers from the event see increases for their albums that are larger than the 27.8% uptick of the overall market. Fergie's "The Dutchess" is up 62% at No. 19 while Nickelback (No. 21, up 42%), the Fray (No. 33, up 52%) and Mary J. Blige (No. 134, up 95%) also see gains. Even winners that accepted their trophies on the show but didn't perform also saw some spikes, including the soundtrack of "High School Musical" (No. 27, up 33%), Nelly Furtado (No. 49, up 64%), Chris Brown (No. 98, up 39%), Three Days Grace (No. 106, up 44%) and Kenny Chesney (Nos. 118 and 121, both up more than 30%).

Last week's chart-topper, Incubus' "Light Grenades," sets an undesirable record on The Billboard by dropping to No. 37, the biggest position drop ever from No. 1. Previously, Marilyn Manson's 2003 album "The Golden Age of Grotesque" held the record after sliding to No. 21 in its second week.

The Music World Music/Sony Urban Music/Columbia/ Sony Music Soundtrax soundtrack to "Dreamgirls," the single-disc "highlights" version," bows at No. 20 with 92,000. The longer two-disc version enters at No. 132. Other big debuts this week include Lil Scrappy's "Bred 2 Die -- Born 2 Live" (BME) at No. 24 with 82,000 units and R&B veteran Brian McKnight's "Ten" (Warner Bros.) at No. 32 with 63,000.

Besides Daughtry's, the only other album in the top 25 to experience a sales decrease was Jay-Z's "Kingdom Come" (Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam), which slides 6-15 in its third week on a 27% sales decline to 101,000.

Overall, album sales are up 27.8% from last week's count and are down 1.9% compared to the same week a year ago at 18.86 million units. Sales for 2006 are down 5% compared to 2005 at 519.4 million units.

I think the album is awesome! It's modern, trashy, sexy and loud!

Its got attitude and the lyrics are good too.

Oh and yummy is so ****in' hot! I makes me wanna dance like a ho :bshake

IYFreak 14th December 2006 12:27 AM

I think this album is awesome too.

I think the album will sell well with the help of the upcoming singles.

Mad_Cactuar 14th December 2006 08:27 AM

Yep, when Yummy gets released, I think it will be in the Top 10 for quite a while. :bshake I love the lyrics.

Horrid though that it sold the same amount with Hannah montana.

explodingbird 14th December 2006 09:00 AM

Hmm... on the subject of singles... I'd like to hear the others be:

Fluorescent
4 in the Morning
Wonderful Life (Yeah, right. Won't happen)

A fifth single? I guess... err...

...I'll... hit you guys back on that one.

It must be real bad since she sold the same amount as a singer I have never heard of. I think this album will sell well though. something like LAMB which sold over 3 million there and stayed on the American charts for so long.

I'm hoping she releases some multiple A sides, since I doubt she would release "wonderful life" and "Fluorescent" as single a sides.

Mad_Cactuar 14th December 2006 09:55 AM

Hannah Montana is a Disney artist who has a TV show, and that album is the soundtrack of the TV show, so yeah it's pretty bad. Children, preteen, family music. Crappy. Something like High School Musical, but baadddd.

If Cool had a chance, I'm sure Wonderful Life could be a single. Perhaps the meaning and lyrics might be a setback. Don't Get It Twisted is pretty awesome too. But Yummy MUST be a single

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 14th December 2006 10:03 AM

Looks like I wont be checking out Hannah.

I thought they have confirmed Yummy as the second single??

explodingbird 14th December 2006 10:04 AM

Nah. It's too much of a Milkshake rip-off, and Gwen and Pharrell both sound insanely bored in it. Seriously, in the verses, there's enough monotone from both sides to overwhelm the world and kill any other existing vocal inflections or tones. That and enough left over to make a whole new Cassie album!

So it'll become a single.

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 14th December 2006 10:06 AM

I absolutlely love when she says "It's time to make you sweat" just turns me on for some reason :D

Mad_Cactuar 14th December 2006 10:06 AM

It barely even sounds like Milkshake. Very minimalistic and pure genius. The lyrics speak for itself. I love her conversation with Pharell in the second (third?) verse.

I thought it was confirmed as the second single too, but Gwen recently said it's going to be the title track. Yummy will probably be the third single.

Monotone is the new melody. :laugh 1 LOVE, Until that day, Breakin' Up, Yummy, etc. etc.

explodingbird 14th December 2006 10:10 AM

Don't forget Me & U and... well, yeah, everything that girl recorded.

Ehh, Yummy seems lazy to me. And it does carry similarities to Milkshake to my ears - especially the beginning. I think Pharrell just fell asleep at the wheel and decided to go for what worked for him in the past (without resorting to Hollaback Girl).

Mad_Cactuar 14th December 2006 10:15 AM

Hollaback was quite dreadful, IMO. I thought it was going to fail miserably in the US charts while Rich Girl would be #1 eventhough I didn't like both of them. Seems to be the other way round though.

Does Gwen ever make B-sides?

Weslicious 14th December 2006 01:19 PM

She hasn't had a B-side so far. No Doubt had enough to make a B-side album though so I doubt she's against the idea.

Yummy and the beginning of Fluorescent are soooooooo Peaches-esque.
Is 'Don't Get It Twisted' about her finding out she was pregnant? The lyrics sound that way but I cannot be sure.

I dunno about Fluorescent being a single. It's one of those that sounds most like it was one of the LAMB leftovers. It's got the 80's feel and she mentions superlovers, so why would she release a leftover?

Early Winter must have a video at least. I love that song.

moombasista 15th December 2006 12:11 AM

future singles IMO:

the sweet escape
yummy
4 in the morning
orange county girl

I agree about the whole Akon thing.

I think he's only listed 'cause he produced the track and did "woooohooooo" so much LOL

You know what I found weird? The whole SNL performance thing. I was sure that her and Akon would've done the sweet escape.

It was weird that she only performed once and then Akon performed his song, I wanna love you, the second time.

Maybe they had drama backstage?

The sweet escape is not doing that well in Australia or the UK :(

debuted at:

Australia: 15 (strangely enough, it was enough to make it go gold already)
UK: 26

but in good news to me while looking at the ARIA charts hehe, Ultimate kylie got back up to number 8 after two years and has been certified 4x platinum. There's always a silver lining. :banana2 :clapclap :vbhappy :shimmy :bshake :yatta

Kobayashiwoof 15th December 2006 10:30 AM

im not so surprised of it not doing well, i have only seen the CM on TV twice:( none of my friends like wind it up as well, and they think downloading for free is cooler than buying cds <_<

Mad_Cactuar 15th December 2006 12:52 PM

^ Well, the single has hardly been released in those places. The album was released a week before the single in the UK. Which is quite silly. And I think Wind It Up was released very recently in Australia.
