summary & translation:

Ayu had been a very pop jpop star even since her debut 5 years ago, she had faced many challenges and criticisms but she continues to face new things everyday and work on new ideas, shez been a singer, tv host, even appear in movies.

"ppl say once you've reached the age of 20-25, you start having dreams", said ayu, "I do and I have many dreams. 5 years have passed now and i think i've gained a lot but also lost many things. The greatest thing that I've gained, I believe, is that i've gained the support of many support and help." Ayu's quick climb to the top of jpop has gained her many unfavourable criticism, including her bad temper etc etc, but she won't wanna talk about that. "when i first started being a singer, i thought, this is just an unhuman job! how could somebody do things like this, my schedule is sooo tight, i was thinking to run away from all this, but now i'm used to it and i've adjusted my pace of live, i even think itz an interesting job."

she would give herself a mark of 70% for being a TV host for ayuready. "i wanna do sth more than wat traditional tv hosts do, and i always welcome audicence comments."

"my top priority now is to learn better english. ever since i set foot in other parts of the world last year, i've always been using japanese and english to express myself. i hope one day i dont' need a translator when i go overseas."

Didn't Ayu study english when she went to NEW YORK when she was 17, i thought she study music in NY for two years and came back to JAPNA

Grantith 15th April 2003 05:25 PM

I don't think Ayu was in New York for that long. She went to take vocal lessons and then returned to Japan, so I don't think it was 2 years (but I could be mistaken). She might have gotten a little basis in English while she was in NYC.

miruku 16th April 2003 06:00 AM

thanx for the info!

SheFliesHigher 17th April 2003 12:49 AM

Chireresu 18th April 2003 04:43 PM

Yay!!!Ayu is trying to learn English!!!!!I think that Ayu was in New York City for about eight months actually, I could be wrong though.

Sakuragirl421 18th April 2003 11:42 PM

ayu only gives herself 70%...oh well...she knows that no one is perfect and she's trying to learn more english so she can be an international singer so that's great! she's very optimistic and thats what i like about her!

Yuki 19th April 2003 12:10 AM

English is hard for most of the Japanese to learn. If you look at it, the subject goes first in Japanese.. and it's the other way around in English.. the verb's in blah, such and such places. XP .. I'd love to be fluent in Japanese and Chinese.. muah! .. Yeah, I think Ayu knows basic English, I'm glad to hear that she wants to learn it though XD.. I mean hey, she sang a little English in,"Real Me," right? :D And I read someplace that she communicates in her concerts in English sometimes.. I think Ayu learning English would be a big accomplishment for her.. I do not know if it was a requirement when she went to school.. (I know she dropped out when she was in 10th grade)

pSyko_mEi_ xD 19th April 2003 12:12 AM

thanx fur da translation and info !!!

at first i wondered if when she dropped out, she was either bricking it thinking ~have i made the right decision? am i gonna end up as an o.l?!~ or if she was just like ~i dont give a **** i can do anything~ but then like, byt then shed already done modelling & acting so she might have thought that was kind of a safety net for her, however trepidous that particular industry may be...
her storys kind of like madonnas tho... moving from some little area to the big city [michigan ~ new york / fukuoka ~ tokyo] and becoming like the most famous woman in that country... they were of similar ages as well... onaji unmei no you ni...

mimika 19th April 2003 02:47 AM

in fact she never like school in japan...she just fax a sheet to school saying "I quit"

that's how she dropped out

Yuki 20th April 2003 09:17 AM

I wouldn't blame her for not liking school, especially in Japan. No free time during the day. Study. Study. Study. :weep

Ibitsu Kokoro 8th May 2003 10:14 PM

Here comes ayumi!!!! YAY!!! I will go to her concerts!!!!
I hope she has one in Sacramento California!!!!

//hikari 8th May 2003 10:33 PM

I would love for an english album. With Hikaru's supposdly coming out soon and BoA becoming more and more interested in English, as other artists, maybe we could have an "Asian Invasion" XD

Yet.... what would be scary, is that maybe if an English album was to be... Would people in Japan accept her wanting to be an international star? Or would they feel that she sold Japan out for English speaking people? That's something that she would have to worry about.

Either way I'm just glad that she's done as much as she has, and will continue to do more. :)
