Ayu can sell 650,000 no problem right now. But she will have some problem selling over 700,000. She needs at least 50,000 copies which is unlikely now that her weekly sales are at 5,000 copies. She should release an album cut video off one of the songs in SECRET to promote the album more. But I guess it's too late and the fact that A BEST 2 is coming out really soon.

When A BEST 2's coming out, the cd stores will usually put Secret beside the BEST albums. So I'm sure there'll be a little boost of Secret sales at the end of Feb :D.

well.. i dun think the sales will drop from 5000 copies to less than 300 copies in just a week. So yes! 650K is no problem at all :P

The drop from last week to this week isn't that bad! Almost 650,000 copies!

I think it'll make it to 660k or 670k, maybe 680k. Ayu's albums tend to hang on there for the longest time. Thanks for the update.

I'm not complaining because the entire pop industry is going quite bad, so it's not ayu's fault that she isn't selling as much as before. Maybe it's because of Itunes (Japan) that people wants to buy her cd digitally instead of going to a store...just my opinion. :3

well, the thing is, since I believe music physical sales are declining, there's a bigger difference per each. 1.3 maybe, but 1.5 is okay too...:)

Oh ya, forgot to mention that I divided 5th and 6th week sales equally. Shouldn't affect the estimate very much at all.
So I predict 656730 total units sold.

This assumes the trend continues; as you guys say, A Best 2 may very well boost sales.

Remember the sales from (m)u, that evened out at around 500-1k for almost 40 weeks or something.

Yea I remember some of those numbers stayed pretty constant for long stretches of time. But at least this gives sort of a lower bound. I wonder how pronounced that constant sales period is in general. Hard to model.

this is what I was thinking too when I first saw the model, because I told hiru that it would sell more, because this is usually what happens, and probably happened for a lot of the other albums too (i keep thinking of a ballads, but i'm not too sure). 655k is really low by my standards (but those might just be very high), however that is at an exponential decline, which is what function represents, I think that it will most definitly sell more, at a rate like what you said...and with the best albums...who knows.

A lot of small things, but mainly that she's kept going for 8 years and her music doesn't appeal to as many as it did during her peak. It happens. She might hit another peak again, but there's very few artists who managed. At least she doesn't seem to have any plans on quitting soon.

I try not to have standards, and I kind of just ignore the sales...i dont know why they are disappointing. According to other artists, these sales are fantastic right? Because it's ayu? I guess...

eek.. i was hoping secret would sell more. Although the drop between last week and this wasn't so bad, but what was up with the > 50% drop between the first and second weeks. :(
