i think their music is ok and i like the club mix of "all the things she said" i thought it was interesting knowing they are 2 girls that love each other (lesbians) and sing together...its just....kinda cool for gay ppl out there...not that im gay...im just ok w/ ppl being gay =) everybody just be themselves right =P oh well i was just curious what others though ^^; |
It's a great single I love it.
The song is very, very cool but it's funny how the lyrics are so lesbian LOL
All the things she said All the things she said Running through my head All the things she said All the things she said Running through my head This is not enough I'm in serious s--t, I feel totally lost If I'm asking for help it's only because Being with you has opened my eyes Could I ever believe such a perfect surprise? I keep asking myself, wondering how I keep closing my eyes but I can't block you out Wanna fly to a place where it's just you and me Nobody else so we can be free All the things she said All the things she said Running through my head All the things she said All the things she said Running through my head This is not enough This is not enough All the things she said All the things she said And I'm all mixed up, feeling cornered and rushed They say it's my fault but I want her so much Wanna fly her away where the sun and rain Come in over my face, wash away all the shame When they stop and stare - don't worry me Cause I'm feeling for her what she's feeling for me I can try to pretend, I can try to forget But it's driving me mad, going out of my head All the things she said All the things she said Running through my head All the things she said All the things she said Running through my head This is not enough This is not enough All the things she said All the things she said Mother looking at me Tell me what do you see? Yes, I've lost my mind Daddy looking at me Will I ever be free? Have I crossed the line? All the things she said All the things she said Running through my head All the things she said All the things she said Running through my head This is not enough This is not enough All the things she said All the things she said LOL I was quite shocked when I watched the video....two beautiful girls (the singers from the group) are probably not even 18 and are kissing on the rain while people look at them as if they were doing the worst thing in the world lol. :laugh I like their other song " Nas Ne Dogonjat" as well, it's a cool trance song! |
ok, although their relationships are kinda weird but the song's very nice, hope that they aren't becoming another bubble band.
Oh, wow. I had no idea that they were lesbians (haven't seen the video). That's pretty bold of them to take a step like that....
I love the song. SOme of their other songs are awsome too. I'm gonna buy the album soon.
I love the song so much!I do not find the lesbian part of the song or the video very strange.I find it very mature that they would tell the world and not hide it so that the media can exploit it later on.
The song is pretty cool. I totally forget where I first heard it though. It is getting radio play in the US? Does anyone have any more info about this group? I'll try to find the video for it, lol, sounds controversial. Interesting.....haha
Did you hear it on one of MTV's Spankin' New Music things after some show?I did, I heard it after watching The Osbournes.Sharooooooon!Lol!
I heard it on the radio a few days ago and saw a commercial promoting the song on MTV on Tuesday night probably at the same time Chireresu did after watching the Osbournes. bulmasman also sent me a clip of one of their songs and I instantly liked it. Hopefully their new single will get more airplay because it really does have great music behind the lyrics.
yeah i just think its a great little change from what i have heard or seen =P even though i have d/led most of their music i think i will buy their album =)
Yeah, I really liked their video. It had a storyline! It was beautifully made!!! But, unfortunately, I haven't heard them on the radio... but I have seen a promotion for them on MTV2... Funny... I thought their U.S. album came out a long time ago... |
I think that they are going to reach the number 1 spot in the UK charts either this week or next week. I hope that they can make it, they really deserve it with that song.
If I hadn't heard that the song was about lesbians, then I probably wouldn't have made the connection. Since you guys pointed it out, I can go back and see what ya mean in the lryics. I actually have heard this song on the radio, but I haven't seen the video on TV. One of my friends was walking down the hall singing it, hahaha.
Hahaha these two are strange. I found some info at MTV.com. The two are stirring a lot of controversy in the US, but they're popular in Russia
http://www.mtv.com/news/yhif/tatu/ "none of the group's representatives will affirm that Volkova and Katina are the genuine article. And while the girls might love to kiss, they're not about to tell. "Every song is about our life," concluded Katina. "Everybody thinks we are lesbians. But we just love each other." Riiight, lol. They're not lesbians, but they love each other and enjoye kissing each other, haha. Maybe I don't know the true meaning of the word, lol. They're music is very dancey. |
Anyone listened to "Nas Ne dogonjat" from them? It's a trance song, very good one. They hit and run a worker with a truck in the video. Very funny LOL (Geez dun think I'm a sadistic person LOL):laugh
on mtv....
italy: 1. Madonna "Die Another Day" 2. Tiromancino "Perme E Importante" 3. T.A.T.U "All The Things She Said" 4. Jennifer Lopez "Jenny From The Block" 5. Cremonini Cesare "Vieni A Vedere Perche" latin america: 1. Audioslave "Cochise" 2. Shakira "Que Me Quedes Tu" 3. T.A.T.U. "All The Things She Said" 4. Miranda "Bailarina" 5. Los Pericos "Complicado Y Aturdido" (on a side note.....japan... 1. Ayumi Hamasaki "Real Me" 2. Chemistry "My Gift To You" 3. Going Steady "Wakamonotachi" 4. Mr. Children "Hero" 5. Rip Slyme "Blue Be Bop" ^^; go ayu~ ) |
Not only are they lesbians, but they're Russian. VERY difficult for people from places other than a spanish/french/european language speaking country to become famous in America. I think it's great, and "All The Things She Said" is mighty catchy.
Issac was going for what I said though... the LAST thing the world needs is another pop band... ugh. They sound more rockish to me... kinda remind me of Ayumi with the pop vocals and rock music |
They sound more dancey and techno than anything to me.

t.A.T.u.: the newest international craze
I know a topic similar to this was posted at AHS, but I can't find it anywhere. . .
http://taty.co.uk/gallery.files/big/tattoo1750.jpg Thanks to bulmasman, mainstream radio, and mp3s, I am now a big fan of the Russian girl duo t.A.T.u. (spelled "taty" in Russian, but pronounced "tattoo"). t.A.T.u. is a duo with Julia Volkova and Lena Katina formed in 2001 who had instant fame in their Russian homeland. Their first album "200 Po Vstrecnoj" was a huge hit and their fame spread. In December of last year, their English album "200 Km/H in the Wrong Lane" was released and their popularity spread throughout North America, Europe, and Australia, making them an international sensation. Not only are the girls known for the music, but because of their controversial marketing image. In videos, promotional pictures, and even in their lyrics (not written by them) they're portrayed as lesbians. Yes, people might frown upon this, but it's done in a very tasteful manner. It's genuine love and not flaunted to the point where it's complete sexual trash (such as Christina Aguilera's "Dirty" video). Even in their songs, they describe how they are not accepted not even by their family and friends, yet want to be free just like the rest of society is. Are we in love? Do we deserve To bear the shame of this whole world? And like the night we camouflage denial -- from "Stars" http://taty.co.uk/gallery.files/big/tattoo812.jpg Many question, are they really lesbians, or is it purely a marketing strategy? The girls have never admitted to it, yet marketing suggests otherwise. Whichever it is, they demonstrate how everyone should be accepted for who they are no matter what the cause may be. And their message is being sent throughout the world through their brillant music. I've honestly never heard anything like their music before. It's a combination of trance/techno/pop/rock/eurobeat all in one. Imagine listening to HAL, Hybrid, and a rock band all at the same time. Plus, both of them have very beautiful voices that seem angelic, especially in "All the Things She Said." What surprised me when I listened to both the English and Russian versions of songs was that they speak perfect English with (very cute) accents. Unlike most J-pop artists that put English into songs and can't pronounce them, Julia and Lena speak the words flawlessly as if it was their native language. I urge each of you to give their songs a listen. If not all, definately listen to either "Not Gonna Get Us," "All the Things She Said," or "How Soon is Now." Or if you want to hear the Russian versions which are even better than the English ones, they're "Nas ne Dagoniat" ("Not Gonna Get Us") and "Ya Soshla S Uma" ("All the Things She Said" literally meaning "I've Lost My Mind"). I know you'll enjoy them. All the songs on their English album are: Not Gonna Get Us -- definately download All the Things She Said -- definately download Show Me Love 30 Minutes How Soon is Now Clowns Malchik Gay Stars Ya Soshla S Uma (Original Russian Version of "All the Things She Said") Nas ne Dagoniat (Original Russian Version of "Not Gonna Get Us") Show Me Love (Extended Version) All the Things She Said (Music Video) t.A.T.u.'s success goes to show that with effort and good material, international artists do have chances of succeeding in the West. Sure, t.A.T.u.'s marketing image might have aided greatly to theirs, but their music is what really stands out. It's unlike music that's popular in today's twisted pop society, but that difference is slowly making its influence in the West. (pictures from taty.co.uk) |
Thanks for the info.
Well I think they're really lesbians....I don't think they would kid with something like that just to get attention to them. If we can't call their attitudes as being "lesbian"then we will have to say just like they do : that they "(we) are just 2 girls who love each other" mwuhahahhahahahahahahhahaha:laugh :roflmao :laugh
Just wanted to post something I found aobut them.
Of course, selling sex is nothing new. But there's some question whether T.A.T.U. actually ascribe to the sapphic lifestyle they project: While management has eagerly released titillating details to the press — such as how the girls insist on a double bed in their hotel rooms — none of the group's representatives will affirm that Volkova and Katina are the genuine article. And while the girls might love to kiss, they're not about to tell. "Every song is about our life," concluded Katina. "Everybody thinks we are lesbians. But we just love each other." So. I wonder if they are, or aren't.. Not that it really matters. And they've been getting air time here in Canada too. |
All the things she said is pretty cool. But I think they're fake. People say that they have boyfriends, and I wouldn't be surprised. They just seem like big fakers and they know if they stir controversy by humping each other and slobbering all over each other then they'll sell more records. If they really were in love with each other, why wouldn't they admit it? Why would they deny their love? They're not afraid of being labelled as lesbians since they practically screw each other on stage to get attention, so why not express their love for each other? lol I think they're fakers.
I downloaded the Russian version of All the Things She Said, and it's very harsh. The Russian language is just very ummm, odd sounding in my opinion. It's just very different, and it sounds really odd to me. I didn't like it very much, but I like the English version. The Russian version of All the Things She Said is called "Ya soshla s uma" but I had lots of trouble finding it online. It's not very common so it might be a little tricky to find. The song has some really cool remixs too like All The Things She Said (DJ Blizzard Remix). If you haven't heard anything from Tatu, you should defintely try a song or two. And their master plan of looking like lesbians (whether it's fake or not) is definitely working. 'Cause if they didn't appear to be lesbians, then we wouldn't be talking about them as much. I think all of this controversy is helping them become known in the USA, and it's working. |
hmmm even if they did fake they still deep kiss each other. As they don't admit it directly, there's the possibility that they are faking the fact that they aren't lesbians as well. They might say it in a dubious way so that people who don't like lesbians will keep wondering "no it's probably all fake so there's no problem" too. Having boyfriends is not a mark for a girl being hetero nowadays - They might be bi. :p

Here's the cover of the "All the things she said" single:
(the image has a heavy scene so to people who don't like to see this just don't look LOL) Grant - have you listened to "Nas Ne Dogonjat"? the russian doesn't sound weird in that song in my opinion :P |
ooh. I like that image!

About the kissing -- there are many pictures from performances where they've kissed. They're probably staged since they do it during most of their performances. Also, in magazine pictures they're always seen with their arms around each other in some way, but I still think it's a big marketing ploy. As Grant mentioned, it definately won attention from people around the world but they still fail to admit to it. When asked about their sexuality, they always give a "maybe yes, maybe no"-type answer without giving a straight answer of "yes" or "no." Even the curiosity of them being such a couple makes them even more famous. Oh well, their music still makes up for even more fame. |
I've heard previews of "They're not going to get us" and it bugs me so much. I don't like it at all so I haven't bothered to download the full version. I think the Russian version would bug me even more, haha. I dunno, maybe if I get some free time I'll try it.
you know i was watching trl and i think they were number 10 but neways the host guy...forget his name...said that they ACTUALLY have boyfriends both do, so..i guess they are just trying to open ppl's minds send some sort of msg maybe..(doesnt mean their are not bi of course =_=;;)
I think it's pretty crappy to play up to a certain demogogue (in this case, gays), and then say that you're not. It's like if I went around making out with other guys and said I wasn't gay. Same concept. I think they're just trying to sell albums using shock value.
Do you think it's possible they are bisexual? They could love each other and have boyfriends. I mean, it is possible to like both sexes. I'm not sure how all this controversy will fair in America, though. I suppose they could be faking it to get publicity. It would make sense, since there haven't been a whole lot of homosexual groups out there. And by not actually confirming that they are homosexual, they can't really be pinpointed as homosexual. It's really a very interesting situation.
I'd like to think they aren't faking it..
Even if they aren't gay, or bisexual.. They still can love each other. No matter what, they obviously have a relationship where they trust and feel comfortable doing anything with each other. That's all that really matters, ne? If only we could all have relationships like that. |
I think that their song are just "implementing" that what if, both of them are lesbian, and one of them express her feelings through the song?
Lesbian or not, I don't care. it's just as simple as that cos' I've been doing this to Ayumi too. So since I believe that Ayumi is... totally OK so why not T.a.T.u? |
Quote:
ayu lesbian? thats a first =P
Huh, Ayumi a lesbian. I'm confused :(
lol. Where is Nagase when we need him? hahaha :P
The more famous you get, the more apt you are to be called gay. Madonna got it. Someone said they were lovers at their school in Redford? I think that's where she lived. I know it was near me, ha ha!
And then Janet Jackson's ex husband wrote a book about how she and her friends would have orgies while they were together. You gotta take the good with the bad! |
Not that it's bad, ne? As long as they're secure in their own sexuality, it doesn't matter what the world thinks.
I don't like the song at all :(
I don't like the sound or whatelse...I don't like it +g+ |
I apologize for the confuse taht I have caused, there are some logical arror at there.... hmm.....
Well of course she is not lesbian! C'mon! *still thinking what's wrong with my fingers and my brain....* |
Anybody Like T-a-T-u?
I love tatu i love there new song! ^_^ i bought there album aswell, despite all the criticism i have heard, its wikked!:cool :D
Aren't they fake lesbians though? They do it just to have controversy surrounding them so that they can sell more records. Although I did sorta like "All the things she said" I think it sucks if you have to stoop that low just to sell your album.
i like T-a-T-u.
apparently lena's grandmother was interviewed and she was like [what? of course my granddaughter isnt a lesbian.. shes always hang around with some boy] or something... so it probably is all marketing... it worked tho :p
yeh it worked!:P or maybe lena never told her granny! lol:P
They're fake. They've said it themselves that they're not lesbians, lol. They crawl all over each other to sell more records.
it doesn't matter when it comes to sexuality...
i think what really matters is their own happiness...if they r happy together then just let them be... life is too short...happiness goes a long way... but there r lots of rumours about them...Yulia is the wilder 1...having posed in Playboy..got kicked out of another group bcos she sexually harassed other members...n she often grab Lena's breast for no apparent reason...even in the middle of a photoshoot or an interview... but there r rumours that their homosexualism is fake...it's made up to boost album sales...they were seen with their own respective boyfriend... i'm not too sure what's the truth...i dig their music..some of them...the russian version of "not gonna get us" is nice... |
i personally thought the songs were quite fresh and interesting.. but the MV was- BLAH! lol..
Oh well..it sold alot of albums (i guess) so the marketing plot worked..lol.
I read somewhere they have a contract which says the managers can push them about and tell them to act like lesbians. Still, it's saaad! People have to pretend something they aren't to sell music. The manager probably was a dirty old bastid anyway..lol |
Their manager/producer Ivan Shapovalov IS a dirty old man and that little fact is pretty well known in Russia :P he was actually on the search for an act that would appeal to guys with fetishes for little schoolgirls and lesbians and tatu was the result of tryouts for that. Lena's bisexual and has a boyfriend and Yulia is VERY bisexual and extraordinarily kinky, and the two have a sisterly relationship behind the scenes, apparently. Good for them.
I first heard of them through a friend of mine who DL'd the song's video (as broadcast on MuchMusic WAAAYYY before they really hit it big)... he DL'd it cuz it was Victoria's theme on WWE (he's a big wrestling fan). Anyway, after that I was like "dude, they rock" and just downloaded EVERYTHING. They were still really obscure at the time, and I really didn't expect them to hit it big, but they did. Anyway, i have all their russian and english songs now as well as a whole lot of remixes. I have most of their videos too, and the ones for "30 minut" (30 Minutes) and "Prostie Dvizhenia" ("Simple Movements") are NOT for young people, they're a bit risky as far as sexual content. Okay, "Prostie Dvizhenia" is REALLY risky. Likewise, even the videos for "Nas Ne Dagonjat" ("Not Gonna Get Us") and "Ya Soshla S Uma" ("All the Things She Said") had to be edited for content as well as lipsynch for the american audience. Kinda weird to watch the originals. They have a russian song called "Doschitai Do Sta" ("Count to 100") that was really good but never got re-recorded in english, you guys should give it a DL. "Ya Tvoy Vrag" was never released in english either. "Klouny", the russian version of "Clowns", is far superior to the english version, as is "Malchik Gay" (cept there's a word in the russian version of Malchik Gay that's bleeped out and I SO want to know what they were saying there). And did anyone else hear about when Tatu were gonna film their video in Tokyo in late june, and they got barred from doing it?[/color] |
Yeah, I heard about the ordeal with filming the vid in Tokyo. If I'm not mistaken, they wanted to film in one of the big shopping areas like Akihabara, but the police put a stop to it.
As for the group itself, I first heard of them a few years ago. I was looking up info on Russian trance act PPK as they had just had a big hit with their "Resurection" track. I came across an article about them, where I saw something along the lines of "PPK, the latest musical offering from Russia since Taty" ("Taty" being the way the group's name is spelled in Cyrillic, as mentioned earlier in this thread). Wondering what sort of music this Taty group made, I checked them out. Hearing "Ya Soshla S Uma" I became even more interested. I really liked the production on the track and the vocals were quite unique, as I had never really heard Russian singing before. I looked into some more of their music. "Nas Ne Dagoniat" was another that I quite enjoyed, as the breaks in that song are fairly pimp. I ended up buying a couple of their CDs on import. I'm not all that keen on the english release of 200 Km/H in the Wrong Lane. Trevor Horn and Co. messed with some of the production. A little for the better; more for the worse, I thought. Backing up a point Delirium made, the Russian version "Malchik Gay" is some quality eurodance in my book, but the English one is just blah. |
T.A.T.U Nice but lesbi.....
i love Tatu's music...i dont mind that they're gay but they just kinda scare me w/ there makin out all the time and their nude photos....
i like the music... just not them... ^^ btw: russian is awesome....yey! i love to sing in russian..its pretty easy ^^ |
their music isn't bad...it's good to have a change once in a while :D
I like t.A.T.u I have their album.
It's all for publicity, you can also affirm that with the phony kiss between Madonna and Britney. Girls kissing = more sales. However, I do think some of their Russian songs (ya soshla s uma (all the things she said)) sound kind of cool. Malchik Gay, Zachem Ja, and Prostie Dvizhenija. Sorry if what I said was redundant, didn't feel like reading :p
i really like t.a.t.u! their music is really catchy and addictive. i especially like the song "not gonna get us" and "show me love".
Their music is cacthy, does anyone like their new album? I'm going to listen to it now ^^
they have cool music if you are into electropop.
All of their albums are are 10 out of 10. Its crazy they have been around for 11 years now. . .
Their music was catchy, but pretty much just this...
