Part of me PV!
OMG
i saw the PV ~ i love it but i dont like her with the uber blonde hair .. she looks like a witch however i love the song the song is so nICE !!! THE BEGINNING IS SO SO GOOD ! its like a modern traditional song :love tHIS song is like so much better than every SECRET songs ! btw its so freaky to see her hair grow and too many bugs ! |
I absolutely LOVE this PV. The best by this director so far - it certainly tops most of the PVs from last year.
This video has a lot to analyze in it but that will have to wait cause I'm late for class! |
OMG the beginning. it reminds me of Haru yo, Koi.. Beatiful!! beautiful!.. And yeah; the director never made something this good before =).. I really like it!! the effects are great and the song is great too!!
And. blonde hair = a witch? yeah? and I loove it xD |
ZOMGZ! My hair-do fell out, now I must die! And then my hair will continue to grow!
I was pretty disappointed after the first watch. Ayu looked really old with that blonde hair when she was in the pink kimono. Lots of eye candy, though. Guess I'll have to go watch it more...I don't think there's anything special about the song, either. *sigh* Edit: I would never call this the best he's ever done, nothing tops 'momentum' for me. :luv2 |
I loved the colors, the imagery, and the special effects! The director didn't overdo them like in "Startin'", so in this video, they were very cohesive. I know the meaning has to do with reincarnation and how death is just a part of life...but it's obvious there's more to going on with the other aspects of it. I bet someone will put this video to "Will", since the song style fits it much better.
Beautiful pv. I wish the videos on "Secret" were this nice. |

Just kidding. In Austria it's 8 pm while I'm typing this. *gg* It's indeed her best PV since....since....since a long time. Let's start with the colour choice and the costumes: Red suits her really good. Remember that red-ish kimono in tsuki-ni-shizumu and the voyage pv and also the ayu-mix CM? The day I heard WILL for the first time, a red-ish PV had come to my mind. I was so disappointed that she hasn't mad a PV for that great song. Red is her colour, period. ------------------------ AYU could be in her old days a good enka singer. She has the voice and also the look in a kimono for that. The costumes are really well made. Maybe a little to colourish but thats not worth to mention. Since I'm not so good in japanese history I can't say from which period the costumes are but the look very authentic. ------------------------- ------------------------- The story for this PV was about the limit. She touched my heart once more.:bawl The whole dying and reincarnating story was beyond anything I had in my mind. Don't get me wrong but the scene when she dies was well done.... and heartbreaking of course. Maybe she's telling us that A-BEST 2 is the end of an ERA and a new ERA is about to begin. This sentence has been floating in my mind since the day I heard something about A-BEST 2 but now it's official. There is also the possibility that she's about to end her career for a while to concentrate on other things but I doubt that. (You'll never know before she hasn't finished her asia tour.) -------------------------- so that's it for now. waitin to see more comments to discuss specific scenes. and yes ... it's shuya |
OMFG. I absolutely LOVE it!!! This was soo much better than what I expected. ^0^!!!
|
It was okay. It was beautiful, the special effects were nice. And I liked the plot (and the fact that there actually was a plot).
I just don't think that the video followed the pace of the song well enough. And I don't really like the song. I'm getting tierd of these type of ballads now..they all have the similar structure, similar arrangements, similar lyrics...It's killing me. What she she needs is a new fresh sound! |
It looks like maybe it's based off a story?
Anyway, this is one of my favorite Ayu videos and songs to date. She really pulled through with this one, I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes... Ayu will forever be my idol, no matter how much she sells...as long as she makes things like this. |
I actually really like this PV although a song this good deserves something better.
The bit where she died then her hair started to grow kinda creeped me out a little X_X Really; what was the damn point of that!? Finally we get ayu in a kimono for a PV rather than a CM. I actually like her hair in this one. Her look reminds me of Hatsumomo from Memoirs of a Geisha when she wasn't out entertaining |
I LOVE IT!
I LOVE THE SONG! I LOVE THE PV <3~ The song is WOW~ A mix of 'Will' and 'walking proud' *-* It's so Wonderful, so 'Beautiful' that you can see that again and again in a row =33 Every exceptionnal, the most well-structed for me since Ladies Night personnally *0* I LOVE the beauty aspect of the PV, the colors, and the cycle of life =3 Ayu is SO GORGEOUS on the PV *kills himself* BEST work of Takahide Ishii since he joined Ayu's PVs =3333 |
Wow, it's totally out of my expectation. She once again pulled it off with a new idea and style in her PV. Well, let's say, the director is able to show a variety of PV genre. Overall, I like it and the story is really thought-provoking, that's why i like her pv. It's classical and enlightening
|
This was GREAT. I am excited, I'll be in Japan when they are still promoting the album, woo-hoo!!
I really love the whole feel of the pv, it sent shivers up my spine! |
It's a very beautiful PV, and I like the full version of the song. It's quite a sad PV, and the song itself seems to have a touch of sadness too. It's the second time in recent months that Ayu has had a PV that deals with death, very interesting.
|
If its somethingimportant put it in spoilers.
Im trying to read if any1 posted on youtube and now i know what happens -_- |

I absolutely love it. I really like it when Ayu shows how soft and delicate her voice can be, and her vibrato was actually very good with this song--the vocal style reminds of me of "Will" :D
|

Usually when we have these threads it's to discuss the PV freely, so people don't use spoilers - generally people would use spoilers in other parts of the forum. Youtube links are usually posted in the download section and not in the discussion threads :yes |
I have but one word to describe this PV. Beautiful.
|
It reminds me of a creation story from a mythology that I can't really remember...where somebody dies and plants sprung up from the body.
The use of colors is interesting, especially since we tend to associate red and pink as "happy colors", yet in this PV they're associated with death. |
Wow. Just wow.
I already knew I loved the song, but the PV was awesome. In fact the only thing so far that I still don't like is the title! :laugh Anyway, I feel like I actually got most of what was going on for a change. Although ugh...white kimono Ayu freaked me out. =x |
I think white kimono Ayu has gone a little too far in the lipsticks department...
|
I really like the song but I think the preview is kinda cheesy. Pretty, but cheesy nonetheless.
|
wow....this pv is just too awesome! I love everything about it...very beautifully done...love the song too! Im so happy ayu went back to being cool again...I thought the pv would be very boring since its a ballad but this was really unexpected! thank you ayu...im so happy...T_T
|
love the song! but the PV is too red LoL, anyway i love the part when she "dies"
|
I love it! But.. I think she needs to start picking less repetetive chorus melodies for her ballads..
|
I think i am the only one who thinks the pv is CRAP...
maybe it's too much of a word... but i seriously didn't like it. The song is wonderful... but the PV - she looks bad, the 'story' (i can't really find any story behind it - it's just LOTS of random symbolism) is extremaly cheesy (dying under a cherry blossom, PLEASE!), the colors are bad, the CG animals look unnatural (the horse is the exception, but it doesn't fit the fakeness of this PV). When the snake ate the mantis - i was laughing... and it was supposed to be such a dramatic scene... The growing hair is so GROSS... I really liked some of the moments... when she put out this thing out of her hair and destroyed that sakura petal, or when the lamp started burning... but that's like... ALL... plus... SHUYA AGAIN! Why do i have to keep seeing SHUYA in her PVs? I'm DEAD TIRED of SHUYA! GO AWAY! The director made such a better work with CHU-LIP... Dissapointed... maybe tomorrow after seeing it more timesi i will change my mind a little... The song is BEAUTIFUL at least... |
The pv is quite good compared to some of the last year pvs. Everything looks good except the hair growing part... they could have done a better CG for that.
Also, the snake and mantis (?) part... I dun really understand at all.. |
Ahhhhhh, A good PV after so long!! :yatta
I don't like the song, it's really repetitive, The red lipstick and the CG were horrible but I think it was def. better than the recent PVs she's released. |
i guess the red lipstick part is how people make up when they wear traditional clothes. People in Japan probly won't find the red lipstick part that weird compared to us :D

I actually really like the animals...to me, the horse being tied up to the tree (whereas usually horses represent pure, unbridled freedom) is largely symbolic of who Ayu is supposed to represent in this video--she's supposed to be be free with her lover dude, but because she's tied up to the tree for so long waiting for him, she eventually dies and becomes ONE with the tree (and thus the growing hair = roots, y'know)? And the CHU-LIP PV was really, really random. The cow poo = not good taste. I'd take overusage of lipstick over cow poo anyday lol. What really confuses me is what the traveling people/soldiers were wearing. Ayu is in a traditional Japanese kimono (albeit, at first I thought it was a Chinese dress due to the frequency of use of those colors and patterns in China), but then what the people are wearing (the ones carrying the lanterns) are more like Chinese headgear or even Thai. I'm not a Japanese history buff, but I definitely recognize some of those as Chinese/Thai cultural patterns. Or maybe her lover IS Chinese and he has to come overseas, which is why it takes him so long :laugh I actually really like the pink and red. She could've done a lot worse (aka the BLINDING lights in the Born to Be PV), and pink and red are usually the spring colors of Asian cultures. I like how this one, no matter how pretty it is, is more than pure eyecandy (like JEWEL; that was an unshameful jewelry commerical to me), and holds certain depths that need decoding :D I like it. |

When she fell on the ground and her hair started growing I was like, "Great, now she's going to grow into a tree.." I was pretty surprised that she just died instead!
|
...but the BIG RED LIPSTICK had to symbolize something!!! :faint
|
Not to be culturally biased or anything, but I think while some of the motifs in the PV might seem random, they make sense if you look at it in an "asian" way.
For example, yes, Cherry Blossom tree is cheesy, but in Japan it does symbolize life. As for the red lipstick, well, if you look at the way Geishas dress and stuff, their lips are also bright red. So :shrug I don't think it's that odd, with the red. But then again, it was just chinese new year, so the redness still hadn't passed yet. The other costumes reminds me more of thai/cambodia actually. |
the pv was great and so was the song^^ the only thing i didnt like was the red lipstick make's ayu look really old XD
|
At first I wa so excited because I thought her reflection was the "Voyage" Ayu. Then I was just like "oh.". It was interesting. The snake bite was awesome. I didn't know Ayu was auditioning for the Grudge 3.
Very Chinese-y. Very old-looking Ayu. I guess we know what she'll look like in the future. |
Well first off i'd like to say
http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/9...fmezomgoc0.jpg But I LOVE THE SONG AND PV I SHALL MARRY IT AND WE SHALL OWN A CAT CALLED GEORGE well maybe not the last part but WOOOO tis great |
Yeah, Shiso, I didn't think this PV was exceptional either.
-The CGs were horrid. The growing hair was very fake and looked bad (like they were just using some cheap photoshop toools and making animation out of it. The snake looked weird. -wtf, ayu's hair color is horrible. The geisha ayu, yikes, what an horrid hair color LOL The other extremely blonde ayu was ok but the lipstick was way too bright red. :laugh And the japanese guy looked ridiculous with his 90' punkish hairdo in traditional clothing, bad mix XD -I do think the symbolisms there weren't random though. I think you can make a theory out of this PV, but I need more time to watch it properly. -I HATE PVs WITH SOUND EFFECTS. THEY SHOULD BE BANNED. They spoil the mood, spoil the song, and sometimes are poretty awkward. (I stopped watching the walking proud PV before it made me grow sick of the song just because of the stupid random sound effects). -I really liked the song, but it is very generic HAL JPOP. It doesn't add much to her discography, she could have released this album without that song and it wouldn't be much to miss. _I find it weird because I know H/\L has nothing to do with filming PVs, but even watching this PV made me think, wow this is so your typical HAL LOL |
Ayu-chan, I still love you, but that was horrid.
To me it was just a dramatic-wannabe nonsense. And the song is so unoriginal.. chorus repetetive and the rest is just another momentum. And the red lipstick? .... no comment |
I love this pv. I love everything about it. I just wish her makeup was different. She's to pale and pasty. She needed more color to herself. The lipstick should of been switched with the different kimono's and she needed eye shadow. It was not what I expected at all though. I still love it nonetheless.

Totally love the song and the PV :) I'm so getting A BEST 2 :)
|
Hm... I like it, a little wierd. Like the kimono but dont like her with red makeup x_x ew! And so weird blond! But I like everything else... WEIRD!^^ The song is just awsome
|
I liked her that blonde.
Reminds me of old times |
The PV itself was very well done, nice job on her and the director's part.
The song, however, was nothing special. |
I love the costumes so much. They're just stunning to me. I love the beginning when she is standing beside the tree. The colours of the PV are just so ____. I don't have any proper vocabulary.
The song is great. I love Ayumi's ballads, they always get to me and I always enjoy them. If this is really the same director as Born to be/BLUE BIRD/whatnot, he has done a great job this time. I am upset that the PV is only available on torrent right now. |
Quote:
The song is all right, it sounds pretty formulaic as far as Ayu ballads go, but it may grow on me. |
Didn't the flowers grow after she died?
|
Haha, it reminded me of an anime scene, and that guy in the end didn't help (he looked like an anime character!!) But it was a very beautiful PV, even with the horrid CGI. And in terms of cheesy? I think I can name you at least 10 Ayu PVs that are cheesier than this (i.e. Dearest, HANABI ~episode II~, HEAVEN). Ayu should've had black hair instead of blonde, and her bright red lipstick doesn't bother me too much. I'm glad this PV turned out good because the director doesn't have a very good track record with directing Ayumi's PVs. This is definitely one of her better PVs.
As for the song, it's honestly nothing special. It's pretty, and I'm glad it's not a dumb song like Startin' or Beautiful Fighters. However, it sounds like a mix of Walking Proud and No Way to Say. She needs to do something about her ballads fast because they've all been sounding exactly the same for a good 3 years. |

I love the PV. I love the colors. I love the atmosphere of the video. The song is great (although not the best). Once again, ayu did it. now I'm off to watch it again with my friend^^
|
Fantastic PV! Very different from what I expected. especially from the guy that did the Beautiful Fighters PV =P
|

......I don't get the PV...
at least for Momentum it made sense... this one...she just dies randomly |
First, I can't believe she chose Shuya as her male counterpart in the PV AGAIN!... Does she have a crush on him or something?
I actually thought CG was way better than in Startin', for example, or any of her videos for that matter... the horse looks completly real to me. Snake is obvious CG, so is that bug (what's the name in English?) and the butterflies. Really nice to see her in a kimono, although the things she had in her hair - that looked like cheap plastic, kinda distracting. Others were dressed nicely as well, although I have no idea why they were there in the first place (what for?), except for Shuya's character. The sound effects were distracting also, especially when the flowers grew, it was just too much of a detail to add sfx in that moment. I actually thought, after the very first scenes of the PV, the whole thing is like an answer to 'poker face', her very first video. There was a tree there with Ayu standing in front, and so there is in this one, but as the video progresses it shows that's not really the concept (although they could have had such in mind). When a DVD rips comes out, I'm gonna try to do a video edit with part of Me and poker face... Oh and BTW: I LOVED the plummeting red lipstick <3 The scenes on white background remind me of old Ayu. |
OMFG. THIS IS MY NEW FAVE PV. i love ayu i love ayu i love ayu.
and the song is lovely!! |
this is one of the most beautiful PV's I've seen in a loooong time. I love it.
I like the song also, but I think it has to grow on me before I go screaming 'I LOOOOOOOOVE IT!!!' ^^ |
I like the PV too, I love her dancers too haha.. The guys are so extremely hot, especially Shuya.. Oi so cute..
I don't know, in comparison to many of her latest released PV's I like it a lot more, but I don't think it matches up to some of her earlier PV's.. I wish the scale of it was a little larger somehow. |
I was VERY upset with the song, I find it terribly boring and un-original, I hope she does something better next time, Ayu doesn't win with me evey time. The PV ideas and quality was excellent however, but the way it was placed together was too boring, the story of the PV was boring, but not the ideas.
|
For some reason I envisioned the PV to be black and white.. D:
At least it's all interesting and WOW. The people who hate it, seriously.. this is Takahide Ishii we're talking about. This is AMAZING for him. And the sound effect is cocoons bursting open it seems.. The song has grown on me since the previews came out, so I'll probably be listening to the song for a while. I wonder what the interpretations of the PV will be.. |
I like the song! LOVE IT! But the PV was a little weird for me and it reminded me a little bit of Moments. :)
|
Don't most Asian cultures [well, the classical Asian cultures..] depict light haired princesses or w/e with really dark red lipstick? Or maybe I've been watching too many Chinese soaps..
I just feel like she was going for an "all out Asian-look" with this PV with traditional Asian ideas. I'm sure there's some sort of "tale" involving snakes and mantises.. |
Quote:
|
I love it. The PV is most definitly one of the most visually stunning she has done, and definitly a HUGE step forward for our mr. director, who many of us, including me, did not think would have done the best job.
The song, I mean, it's sooo walking proud lol I love it though. I think it depicts some of the classic ayu sound that is just perfect for her best album. |
Quote:
Whereas in this PV, there are a lot of things to consider--such as her suddenly falling over, the symbolism of the animals, and why she was in the big whited-out space when her lover meets her there (possibly heaven)? I like to think outside the mundane :innocent (Granted, this PV is no "RAINBOW"--which remains my favorite Ayu PV for the sheer depth it held with the two Ayus running away [past and present, in a sense], but I don't think it's as shallow as JEWEL is. The meanings are there--you just need to look past the incredibly pretty scenery) |
I'm not sure why because this usually doesn't happen to me, but I got teary eyed towards the end. :'D It was a really, really gorgeous vid I think. I loved it. And the song is also very pretty.
|
Some people seem to be a little overly picky to me. Like not liking the PV because you don't like the lipstick - the lipstick people, come on. :) Also about Ayu looking old? How? She looks exactly the same as she always does. Is it simply because people associate kimonos w/ old and therefore Ayu looks old? Also I think the CG looks pretty good considering the short amount of time that they would have had to do it in.
There are so many things that this PV does right and the things wrong with it are pretty minor - it seems pointless to knit pick so much. I agree about the song though. It is a pretty run of the mill ballad for Ayu. |
the song's pretty, but that's about it. it's like a mash up between "JEWEL" & "momentum" to me.
but i LOOOOOVE the PV. i love the traditional feel to it. i think it's her best in a while. =) |
Yep the song might be a run of the mill ayu, but I still like it a LOT these run of the mill songs got me into her and she's got bad run of the mills and good ones. This is one of the really god ones to me.
|
Best PV in years!!
|
I adore the song..
The first time I saw the PV, I was like "omg ok she just died.. because she took the chopstick things out of her hair.. wtf?" .. and I just looked at the surface.. but then I watched it again and started reading into the symbols.. and now I adore the PV too |
part of Me is just amazing in terms of the PV
it's the most artistic one i've seen from ayu it's one of the best for me now, including alterna, 1 LOVE, and About You the bridge of this song is also beautiful <3 i can't wait for the bonus track, if in fact it is real :) |
I first of all have to say that this song is just beautiful. I haven't watched the PV yet but from what I can tell from the screenshots; it's nothing short of beautiful.
I haven't read everyone's comments but a lot of peeps on page 2 were talking about the cultures of the costumes. I think AYU used this video to try and unite multiple Asian cultures...kind of like an ode to the Asian Tour that's getting ready to start?? Well anyway, for some reason I think the PV is going to be one of her most symbolic EVER so I'll hold off on what I think it may be about until I see it myself. Hmm...does anybody have the feeling that Inu-Yasha and a make-up for not having a PV for WILL (I'm still hurting over that...) are the major influences in this? Just wondering...They were the things I thought of when I saw the pictures...lol |
Good Points:
-I have always wanted Ayu to dress up in something traditional for once of her PVs, and her costumes were stunning. -There was a plot(?) and many, if any, symbolic objects. -I liked the song. Bad Points: -I really do wish there was more eye-candy. -The growing hair was quite disgusting as a matter of fact. -I hated the red lipstick! Aaaargh! That killed me. |
Part of me PV!
I LOVED it! *Downloaded from dreamora*
What did everyone else think? |
The first thing that came to my mind when I saw ayu in the pv is Anna Tsuchiya ...dont know why maybe coz of her new movie? but its all good :D
Am I the only one that loves her red lipstick and the blond hair? It seems either ppl loves this pv or hate it....well atleast this is way way way better than pvs like...lets say b&d, pride, startin, born to be, blue bird, beautiful fighters...yes all those we have been getting. This is a good start for ayu in 2007! |
I liked the pv a lot, there could have been more to it, and the hair thing reminded me of the grudge... but overall it was better than I expected.
Anyone have any idea on the symbolism? I'm at a loss |
I love the PV and I love the song but... I really do take issue with the sound effects, they're extremely poor and the video would be better off without them. I mean, why did the flowers sound like goo being ripped apart when they opened?
|
Wow I REALLY didn't expect such a good PV from that director! I always wanted Ayu to have a japanese themed PV. :3 Pity she has blonde hair. D:
I also like how they showed she was on a stage.. makes it seem like a kabuki performance. :3 |
on the insects and snake part, all i can think is:
ayu was the butterfly and the praying mantis ate it so she died~and the snake(the guy who ayu loves) wanted to take revenge and ate back the praying mantis~ i really like that idea if it's true~ |
Quote:
|
About the sound effects:
I actually didn't mind the sound affects, I liked the wings of the birds...but I HATE HATE HATE the stupid snake sound when it attacks the grasshopper. The snake is not a bullet train. |
Horrible shade of blonde hair + red lipstick+ kimono = wtf? o.o That was just really creepy.
PV's great considering the other stuff he directed. The snake was really cool even though it was CG. :D I wonder what was written on the dancers' arms though~ Song's pretty good. [OT] And why is it that almost all his PVs have to have Ayu's dancers in them? >.< |

Wow, two good Takahide Ishii PVs in a row.

I want to figure out the lyrics before I analyze the PV, so I'll be back later |
I love Ayu in red lipstick, I always have.
|
meh...ill keep my thoughts of the vid to myself...
the song is nice though! |
I've showed the pv to my friends at school(non of them are asian)
they loved it even though who ayu is and what the song is about all of them said the same thing "cinemography"(sp?) just like the movies Hero/Crouching Tiger Hiden Dragon etc personaly I loved the whole red theme of the pv...nice attempt and the geisha ayu ...I've been wishing something like that for ayu for the longest time ever since ayu-mi-x 4 released red does suit ayu best |
This PV clearly symoblise the belief of AFTER LIFE and rebirth (RENAISSANCE) in Buddhism~~ We can see ayu committed suicide and her hair grows continuously after her death. At the end, she turns into a TREE and new CHU-LIPS (XD) and blossoms grow from it meaning no matter how ayu changes, we as fans will support and accompany her eternally (we are the blossoms)
|
i just hear the song and see the pics not download the video because its too big..from what i see so far i really love part of Me...i have heard this song for about 25 times...and its really grow on me...the melody stuck in my head...its really good...
and looks like ayu get the idea for her PV from shinobi the lyrics of the song match shinobi very much too... for the song i dont feel ayu have something like this in the past, its really fresh for me..i really love interlude part...so beautiful |
I definitly love the PV Ayu looks gorgerous so beatiful, and the red really suits her like most said, even though she looked a bit old I don't mind it, she still looked beatiful
|
Lol, this is weird... It came out on Ash Wednesday, the day that Catholics realise that we have came from the earth, and will return to the earth. That's what happened to Ayu as well.... Weird. I loved the PV! Amazing work
