Which Ayu song that attracted you into becoming a fan in the first place ?
 

Once upon a time, none of us know of ayu's existence.
It is when we listened to one of her hits that we become attracted, and then addicted to her.
Im not sure if there is a discussion on this topic b4....im new here, juz discovered this wonderful forum !

I am a late fan, where I only started listening to ayumi during her (miss) understood era. Being a chinese malaysian, not much ppl here are into JPop and i dont understand a single word of japanese. I used to listen to chinese songs like jay n david tao etc. One day thou, i feel very bored with my current playlist and decided to listen to jpop. So i downloaded miss understood, which was ayu's latest album at that time. AFter the first track, Bold and Delicious, i was like...ohh no....jpop is not for me.
but after reading many great reviews on her album n concerts, on one boring night i went to you tube to watch some of her live performance. it was truly a memorable night indeed.

A Song for XX during Dome Tour.....this is the song that turn my life into an ayu fan. she sang with so much emotion...it send chills thru my spine...

after that, i listen to miss understood again, and begining to like it a lot.
I go on to buy the original CD of (miss) understood, followed by secret, and the recent A BEST 2 -black- and -white-.

i have been listening to ayu for like, 24/7 since the past 6 months...and i'm proud to say that i am familiar with all her songs now...

i was introduced to Ayu sometime two years ago, a friend sent me "Because of You" - I enjoyed the track but only listened to it casually. six months later, "fairyland" came out and the video was so fun and full of energy, so i decided to download some more. i then downloaded "evolution" which immediately became and obsession....and ive been hooked ever since.

I started liking her after noticing the A best commercial on TV. I got hooked by songs 'End Roll' and 'M'.

Catcher In The Light, the first Ayu song that i heard... and i Love it!

I not sure which song actually did it...but it was defintely the songs-with-PVs from the MY STORY album...(GAME,walking proud,Moments,CAROLS) these were the ones...

then i wasnt really into her but really loved MS (and i tot it was a BEST album coz of the title.so i bot it)

then came STEP you/is this LOVE? and still i wasnt hooked..but between that period and fairyland was the time i was hooked...and during THIS period..i bought her other albums...so i guess all of them contributed to this 'hook'..lol

SURREAL took my breath away and TO BE confirmed I'd be her fan forever.

i still remember the site where i downloaded her music for the first time, sadly that website does not exist anymore, but the first songs i heard from her were evolution and surreal and fly high.......surreal is what got me hooked, and i've been an obsessive fan since her memorial address era.......

I didn't know which artist it was at the moment (WinMx times XD) but this song swept me away instantly. It was like I had been looking for it all along without knowing what I was looking for. It sounded amazingly emotional both the vocals and arrangements, everything about it was perfect.

Later on songs like Fly High, Free & Easy and Boys & Girls "sealed the deal" ;)

It wasn't just one song, becouse the absolutely first Ayu-thing I heard/saw, I believe it was the AyuMiX II commercial, but the song I liked the most in it was Fly High remix. I took me few years to finally put my hands on it though.

for me it was Dearest. I found out about her from Inuyasha. After that one, I got hooked.

I heard evolution but thought she looked weird back then .. then during her Rainbow era I accidentally d/l her "Real Me" MV and instantly fell in love with her ever since ...

i hate it back then when those winmx users will name the video to something else .. that's how I got her MV accidentally hahah

i became hooked the day fairyland came out. that was the first day i l;istened to her and ever since i loved her. the first song i actually heard was A Song For XX though.

i found out about her because i had to do a school project on her ~~

Naturally - I saw the visee cm with Ayu in a white dress sitting on the moon - my first Ayu download and I was hooked with the Naturally "Dolly remix" I than downloaded Naturally and fell in love with the song
I then saw the PV of Evolution and I became a Ayu fan getting anything about her ^^

STEP you. That was the first song I heard, and I was instantly hooked, I thought the video was amazing. Actually, STEP you was really what sparked my interest in J-POP in general.

Actually, the first song I like was the remix to poker face(I believe it was the Spiritual remix to it, correct me if I'm wrong). It got me to d/l M, evolution, Boys and Girls and the remix to Fly High(forgot the last name, but it's the Vincent remix or Ferry Corsten remix)

Well, Dearest was the first I heard, but not the first I loved (that was no more words). But, evolution helped pique my interest, then again Free & Easy boosted it up a little.

I heard a full length preview of SURREAL at Last.fm and I thought it was an amazing song.

as a honkongese, i always think ayu is cool
the 1 st song that i listen to is real me, which i mocked about how bad her english is.. but when the euro mix is released, i am obssessed with the song.. not ayu though..
way later. she released memorial address, i borrowed her album and listen to the song and i am obssessed with because of u( not ayu yet)
it is not until my story- about you, game came out that i really can't get my mind off ayu, with the concert dvd, walking proud , carols and moments just stuck into my mind forever

a friend recommended "Fly high" back around 2000~2001, and then i saw ayu on MTV China during my Shanghai trip in 2002. afterwards i picked up my first ayu cd at narita airport (Free & Easy) and from then on i was hooked :)

I heard this story from you in another thread. I'm not sure if I said anything, but I really like it. There was a time where Ayu's words really saved me too. They still do. ^^


I came in I am... era. My first songs -- evolution, Naturally, and still alone -- came off some P2P program that hasn't existed in years. Ayu was a random download; I didn't know anything about her. Except for a small period during the Rainbow-era, I've liked her ever since.

STEP you, i found out in the advertisements. This gorgeous tune hooked me up to become a Ayu fan. And im proud of it.

My first Ayu songs ever were like teddy bear or For my Dear..

I think they came "together", since I listened to them both at around the same time..

And from there, a love for Ayu was born. :D

SEASONS and evolution.

I remember finding her really pretty. I was always on this blog hamazaki.net and the girl's layout was always Ayu. I download a bunch of her songs but SEASONS and evolution stood out the most and made me a fan!

Well, I already heard about her for some years but I wasn't into Japanese Music at that time. But one day, I watch No way to say video on my television and I was captivated by the music and her voice. I can still remember it well. The composition was so sad and melodious, just the type of song I had been looking for during back then. No way to say has become one my favourite Ayu/Japanese songs and that song made me find a new love for music. And that is Japanese Music. I'm into Japanese Music that I rarely listen to English songs or other languages. But that doesn't mean I'm not updating myself with new English songs everyday. It's just I'm not into it as much as before. No way to say was a huge impact. It change my music taste for the rest of my life.

Same here. Evolution had just been released when one day I randomly downloaded it from an mp3 rotation site. I was hooked in no time. I still remember the site even today ;)

I have to say Depends on you got me into Ayumi's music and that is when I started listening more of her songs and she became my number 1 since.

In my heart, she's not only the Queen of J pop but also the Queen of International music. :)

I downloaded 'moments randomly in 2004 i think, listned to it occasionally, then came 'about you, and watching ayu preform hanabi live is what got me hooked! she had so much emotion in her voice =)

when i started listening to ayu and reading her lyric translations she really helped me though one of the roughest parts of my past, she said things that i diddnt know i felt until she defined it. people talk about her music being life changing and it really is amazing that one person can mean so much ^^;

It was the first song I heard from Ayu. I had extremely strange feeling when I heard Ayu for the first time. Her voice was.. weird and maybe a little bit funny. I listened only to that song from Ayu and I thought she makes only trance songs. After a month or couple I found more Ayu's songs, original ones. :P

At that time, I was watching 'Fighter' by Christina Aguilera on youtube and there were comments stating similarities with this and the 'ourselves' video. Out of curiousity, I just watched the video and... I WAS HOOKED!

Damn, the song is original and the video, except for the scene when Ayu is trapped between the two walls, is totally different from 'Fighter'!

I then watched her other videos and their artistic view and her poetic lyrics made me a fan, not forgetting 'ourselves', of course.

i first heard SEASONS but didnt care much for it.. then my bestfrend went to japan n when he came back, he showed me a video of a full show called MUSIC STATION that he recorded while he was there..

i was watchin it till i heard a song that sounds really unique n amazing.. the singers voice was squeaky n she was wearing a black dress n had blonde hair.. i ask my frend of who that girl was n he told me that shes Ayumi Hamasaki n that shes the biggest hit in Japan at that moment.. i went to my bestfrens house everyday after that, just to watch that video.. oh ya, it was Ayumi singing Surreal ;_)

I first heard ayu when her RAINBOW was released, tv ads were playing some of ayu's new song and when i heard Voyage, i thought it is the most beautiful song i ever heard, but i took little notice of it. Soon, A BALLAD was released. I heard M and RAINBOW and was again mesmerised by it. (T_T) it was only after MY STORY did i decided to buy her album, in particular, RAINBOW!!! n i never regreted that moment in the CD shop :D

I think the first song that attracted me to Ayu was "Trauma." A remix of it though.
