[News] Ayumi: No prawns, crabs, dairy and eggs when I'm in Taiwan!

Not even little bugsies must be found in the suite, that's what Ayumi told her selected-hotel's management.

The Japanese female pop singer who is due to start her very first concert on Saturday (24th March) will be scheduled to arrive at Taiwan on 22nd March (Thursday) (NOTE: It has been changed to 21st March).

Apart from her massive team of 500 people combining Japanese and Taiwanese staffs, Ayumi stressed that there must be no prawn, crabs and dairy/egg products on her menu. All she wants is just curry or beef tripe rice.

On top of that she also demanded that the hotel must ensure that not one single insects must "invade" her suite, cos' she is afraid of them.

Ayumi is so ensuring her concert for success, that she had mobilized over 500 people as her staffs for the event from both countries. The organizer "Super Dome" even went as far as preparing a five-million-New Taiwan Dollar-worth van as her personal transport in Taiwan.

Besides many people and many cars, her personal luggage has around 120 suitcases at her disposal, that means three to five 3.5 tonne mini trucks to cover that much of her personal belongings.

What she wants from her hotel anyway? Oh that's simple, just no prawns, no crabs, no dairy products and no eggs on her menu to avoid any sort of freak allergies/sickness, and just curry rice and tripe rice plus red globe grapes and Taiwanese local fruits will do.

And most notably 40 humidfiers (to protect her skin and voice), and there musn't be any sort of bugs inside her suite, and the hotel was like they were preparing a war, that should be able to create a record for the strictest accomodation requirement rules ever for a foreign pop star in Taiwan.

Oh what a diva ...

isaac hiew 20th March 2007 06:51 PM

yeah, but it's quite understandable that she wants a perfect, zero-defect performance, note that she just wants curry rice and/or beef tripe rice, that we can say that actually she is very common-like.

tomoko-stepyou 20th March 2007 06:53 PM

Well, I wouldn't want bugs in my room either...

YuriChan 20th March 2007 06:55 PM

Same here.. I would grab a newspaper and swat it (unless it's a wasp)! >.<

isaac hiew 20th March 2007 06:58 PM

Now I know why so many gals love ayu...... you all think alike! XD

Tasked 20th March 2007 06:59 PM

if there's a bug in my room, it HAS to die before I go to sleep, so I do understand her.. This performance is obviously very important to Ayu. This is her first concert in the country and she probably wants to give her absolute best to her fans. And she has the wealth and power to get exactly what she needs for it to be perfect, so why shouldn't she?

emi♡ 20th March 2007 07:03 PM

she's hilarious :laugh

i wonder what will happen if she finds a bug...omg...i would go in and plant a fake plastic one on purpose...

~ayu-cake~ 20th March 2007 07:04 PM

I don't think i'd want a bug in my room either :S
That's not diva like at all.
And the menu thing, cmon' does it really matter? It's not like she's asking for a special curry from half way around the world :S
Haha, funny read.

Sankyuu :)

JinHamasaki 20th March 2007 07:09 PM

I remember her saying she wanted to try the local foods? I guess not...

What's the news source?

Impracticable 20th March 2007 07:17 PM

z0mg ayumi! <3

Ayumiko 20th March 2007 07:25 PM

maybe she would want to try local food after the concert. I hate it when theres a bug in my room...I wont be able to sleep unless I get someone to kill it for me.

panda87 20th March 2007 07:38 PM

yeah, i wouldn't be able to sleep to stay in a room if there's a bug in it. i hate creep crawly and flying things. ew ew ew. i totally understand ayu. and her menu? its not like she's asking for something fancy. ayu wants to give her fans her best, especially since she's out-of-country. heheh. this is all reasonable. she's a true diva, yep yep.

Zacek 20th March 2007 07:49 PM

Very interesting to know, and so far from those little-star-boys and girls that with one album, they feel like the king of the world.

We love you Ayu!

ohsixthirty 20th March 2007 07:49 PM

what'd those poor little bugs ever do to you guys?

alternarist 20th March 2007 08:28 PM

its all understandable. she doesnt wanna get diarrhoea or whatsoever just before her first concert outside of japan. its jus a precaution.

and well for the bugs... haha most females are scared of bugs. so what can i say?

Cyria 20th March 2007 08:47 PM

Thanks for the news! Some touring celebs have made far crazier demands.

~*Mabushii*~ 20th March 2007 09:12 PM

well, I'D want to avoid allergies/freak illness as well when I go to places.
I also do not like bugs..
I dont even have enough clothes to fit THAT many suit cases

oh and this? "moisturizer machines " I COMPLETELY understand.. :) you want to look and sound your best for your fans in a country where you have NEVER had a concert before.. of course you want to look and sound your best!
More power to you Ayu! You are FAR from being a "Diva" omg.. people should read about J-Lo and how SHE is with her hotel demands.. then Ayu will seem like nothing

miniayumi 20th March 2007 09:12 PM

I think those "moisturizing machinese" are humidifiers. :)

She sure does love curry! Oh, and beef tripe, popular with Japanese too?

the angel song 20th March 2007 09:30 PM

i think the way this was written over emphasized her demands. she actually comes off as humble "strict diet for fear of illness in foreign country, no bugs in room because just...yuck, keep voice and body in check..." it's no different than taking extra precautions the morning of a big test to ensure you'll do your best. this is her first time to hold a big concert out of her "comfort zone" and her requests aren't really that bogus.

ahhh i love ayu...!

:roflmao

In a way I'm thinking, "Good for her for thinking this isn't just 'some' concert." On the other hand... what a diva, as you all said before. :laugh But I sort of don't blame her.

By the way, I think I already know the answer to this, but is Ayu planning on speaking in Japanese during her MC sessions when she's in other countries?

criminal 20th March 2007 09:57 PM

It's nothing that uncommon, I would like every place I stay in to be insect-free as well.

And the other requests aren't asking too much either as I'm sure avex is paying the hotel top dollar.

theprojectzero 20th March 2007 10:16 PM

AYUMI IS SUCH A BIG FLYING POOFTER!

Well personally I wouldn't like bugs in a hotel room either.

astameth 20th March 2007 10:39 PM

Ok, she doesn't want bugs in her suite, normal, after all, who would want.. But why she thinks that she needs to ask for that ! Taiwan is not Third World, this is a real disrespect for Taiwanese people. She can also ask for hot water and a clean bed sheet.. :rolleyes

minna 20th March 2007 10:44 PM

me too. if there was a bug in my room I wouldn't want to sleep with it...
but i understand. she wants the best for her concerts! and her menu, if she wants that it's that it must be good for her no?
I think that her request are ok!

Ayumiko 20th March 2007 11:17 PM

I dont think she is trying to disrespect taiwanese people....I wouldnt be surprised if she request that whereever she stays at overseas.

I remember hearing a US diva who would demand her hotel room's walls white whereever she goes and if they're not, she would tell them to paint it white. I forgot who it was... so not wanting bugs is a little request compared to that.

Peger 20th March 2007 11:24 PM

I just love her more when i hear all the diva stories lol

Mmmm, yummy, nothing says tasty like eating moisturizer XDDD!

Jordan 20th March 2007 11:45 PM

How come Ayu's team is so big?

Aisha_Angel 20th March 2007 11:53 PM

Gosh, they make it seem like she's the cookie monster or something. All she requested is what a lot of us don't want in our rooms: BUGS...a couple of machines that I use to go to sleep: a HUMIDIFIER...and her favorite health foods. Good gracious, they'd better be glad I'm not the star...I'd be labelled as trying to eat Taiwan out of house and home compared to Ayu.

The personal belongings are probably her animals, their care-stuff, her clothings/costumes, accessories/makeup and back up supplies. At least this type of beefed up security means NO LOST LUGGAGE...::hint-hint to the members of what used to be Destiny's Child...get some security&back up costumes and you won't lose ALL your stuff::

Overall, her demands are nowhere near the insanity of Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey.

minna 20th March 2007 11:58 PM

i don't think she's a diva! she wants to be at her best for her perfomances so I think it's normal that she's asking to eat whatever she wants!

& bugs...i understand her completly! if there was one in my room I wouldn't want to sleep until somebody killed it

ayumeg 21st March 2007 12:53 AM

If I had as much money/power as her, I'd ask for MORE. Haha.

truehappiness 21st March 2007 12:54 AM

It's probably a humidifier she wants, not a moisturizer-machine. LOL

Tell one of her many dogs to take a chomp at it!!!!:innocent Just kidding, I don't think she would like that idea either.

Ani_C 21st March 2007 01:04 AM

HAHAHA! What a nag xDDDD I mean I agree with the whole bug thing but jeez xD I could so see Ayu making all these demands all pissed off or worried. :D Thanks for sharing.

Kikaru 21st March 2007 01:06 AM

Interestingly enough, I saw something on the news the other night that even a lot of high-star hotels have a lot of unseen rodents and bugs, and it really made me want to stop traveling.

Personally, I'm terrified of bugs, so I get her completely.

I'm pretty sure this includes the hundreds of people who are coming over from Japan just to assemble the set. In other words, most of those 500 are stagehands and construction workers.

Just to clear things up, the demands made on the hotel are NOT a complete tour rider (which is what I assume people are referring to when they mention demands from other divas). A contract rider consists of requirements/demands for everything from stage design to accomodations to transportation and dressing rooms. If this is what her hotel list looks like, imagine what she wants for her concert backstage room.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. At a glance, there is little wonder why her Asian tour isn't more extensive. I'm sure there were countries that got scared off by just part of the rider.

truehappiness 21st March 2007 01:14 AM

That'd mean that perhaps, some countries might not've been able to provide for her needs and were eliminated from a list of "possible" cities to go..

geneticboi 21st March 2007 01:43 AM

lol "preparing a war"

Bruised.Sapphire 21st March 2007 01:58 AM

xD Well, not like this wasn't expected.

SheFliesHigher 21st March 2007 02:21 AM

Bah, American celebrities have demanded way worse....like using Dasani spring water for taking a bath and having only brown M&Ms candies in a bowl.

Beauty4123 21st March 2007 02:26 AM

that was interesting. thanks for the info.

MemorialAddress 21st March 2007 02:30 AM

Ick, who would want bugs in their room/allergies?! :dead2
Ayu's such a diva lol :tbiggrin

Hahaha you are so right! :yes
Ive heard of so many off the wall requests from celebrities like Mariah Carey and Madonna :D

yatsuda 21st March 2007 02:31 AM

Ah, the humidifiers... she said she'd bring 20 of them, when interviewed on Music Station.
She's such a diva, LOL!! I didn't expect any less from Ayu!

truehappiness 21st March 2007 03:22 AM

Well, hopefully she doesn't turn into a prune from all that water in the air! LOL

LacusClyne 21st March 2007 03:38 AM

no bugs of coz! that will be disgusting~~~

but curry rice? ayu, do you want to kill your throat?

Peger 21st March 2007 03:52 AM

Well curry rice is mad good lol....

pbs1605 21st March 2007 05:13 AM

perfectdeath 21st March 2007 08:52 AM

well, even if she is that demanding, i find what i read in chinese magazines hard to believe anyway, considering all the other crazy things i've heard from them

Nu-NRG 21st March 2007 08:55 AM

based on the how the reporter writing ayu's name in chinese
...this is one of those bashing newspaper from hk again
can really disregard this lil...news or if it is real anyway

isaac hiew 21st March 2007 11:54 AM

*cough*

well guys, this is the very first time I have ever heard of "humidifier" in my entire life!

alright, I have corrected the mistakes. Thanks for pointing that out. Anything else?

Surreal 21st March 2007 12:47 PM

Well, that's pretty simple demand! I wouldn't want bugs too!

lol , I agree with you. it is a bit disrespectful to specifically ask a room with no bugs like Taiwan is some undeveloped country.

she's staying in Taipei , so I think she might stay at Four Seasons Taipei or something of that level. doesn't exactly look like a place where you might need to ask for no bugs ...

since the magazine is a chinese tabloid they're probably trying to make ayu look bad. Chinese tabloids try to make everyone look bad no matter what nationality , i guess stories like that sell better lol

haruki 21st March 2007 01:13 PM

well, i dun think thats very demanding, like wut other members said, US singers demand way worse than this.

but anyhow, i dun think its really that COOL to demand this and that. I think thats irritating.
Ayu is just demanding a clean room (obviously, very japanese would expect that from a 5-star hotel) and a specified diet.

I think Ayu is really humble and do not cause problems to everyone where ever she goes despite the fact that she is a megastar.

*how is she gonna use her 5 lorries of luggage for only a few days stay??*

Isthan 21st March 2007 01:56 PM

I don't think she's being a diva at all. It's a very important performance and she wants everything to be perfect. I'd complain about the bugs too...

Qt Mashi 21st March 2007 02:21 PM

lol that's funny~

but it's good in a way because wat if Ayu does get sick and the whole concert thing will be cancelled and ruined!

philh 21st March 2007 02:31 PM

Reasonable requests actually. Not weird at all like most western celebrities. :)

Lol "Ayu-Diva cancels her Asian tour becouse of a fake bug in her 5-star suite!" :laugh

I guess it's always possible there could be a bug in the room, at least a single one, no matter how high-class the hotel is. I mean, they just need to fly through the window or whatever... it's not that hardcore of her to ask that it's made sure that there is no bugs when she gets to her suite.

One thing I don't get is her luggage... 120 cases? What for? Is she bringing her whole house along? Why would she need all that stuff, it's not like she's going there to stay forever... oO"

nanami606 21st March 2007 06:55 PM

What the hell does she need that many shoes and clothes for? It's not like she's going to stay there for a five million years. Fame sure does get to the head. Waste of money. I can understand the food thing though. And the bug thing to some level.

panda87 21st March 2007 07:08 PM

hmmm, maybe she brought so many clothings in case of emergency or in case she gets indecisive on wat to wear since she won't have time for shopping. um... and maybe for concert meetings and rehearsals and.... yeah. that'll use a lot of clothing... i think if i was ayu, i'd do that too, especially in a foreign country, you wanna make a perfect impression... imo. hehe.

nanami606 21st March 2007 10:12 PM

A few pairs of everything would do in that case imo. but tons and tons of clothing is just too much...

Kikaru 21st March 2007 11:37 PM

Well, if the costumes are put in the suitcases, then I'm not surprised. Judging by how elaborate those costumes are, I wouldn't be so surprised. Plus rehearsals and everything.

truehappiness 22nd March 2007 12:50 AM

Ayu has a lot of clothes. D:

Shouldn't that be known from the hundreds of magazine shoots she's done, and the HUNDREDS UPON HUNDREDS of outfits we've seen her in? I think it's normal that she'd bring so many outfits/shoes, since she probably doesn't wanna wear the same thing twice :D

Kikaru 22nd March 2007 04:14 AM

^Actually, I don't think a lot of the magazine shoot cloth are actually hers. Probably owned by the magazine company or studio, tell her to wear it or something, then take it back. If she likes it, she might get it later.

It might explain the similar clothings between celebrities.

I also would imagine a lot of those briefcases contains makeup for the stage performances, since she wears quite bit of makeup when performing.

haruki 22nd March 2007 04:59 AM

whatever it is! i m so happie for her!

Well, sometimes they state that she brings her own little things to wear along with her for the photoshoot.. and the companies that let her model the clothing probably let her keep something she likes as a "gift" to her.

Jinkoundo 23rd March 2007 12:03 PM

Hey, its Ayu she can do that if she wants.

isaac hiew 23rd March 2007 05:27 PM

imagine a bug in her curry rice, alright that's gross!

kayokyokufan 24th March 2007 12:13 AM

I don't think there's anything wrong with her being picky about the menu. The only thing that sounds a bit diva-ish is the 'bug' thing. I mean, bugs are tiny. They can get past you without you noticing. Sure, there are measures the hotel can take to prevent them from getting in her room, but they can't promise to keep every single bug out.

Yabisi 24th March 2007 05:55 AM

LOL Thats a bit extreme, but Taiwan does have some killer bugs X_x

Piccolo 24th March 2007 05:58 PM

I love Diva <3

Ikasamah Imuya 31st March 2007 10:43 AM

not so surprising news
we all knew her behavior as well
she's kind of a diva...that's OK
almost famous stars always required something like this for all time, that's not so strange
becuase there were also many bad rumours about ayu when she was in Thailand (my country), either.
she didn't care anything, that's normally...huh
because when she were in my counthry many years ago, she rejected to bow to her higness majesty, too.
Fortunately that her highness majesty ignored her behavior, because we're all different form other countries

extepan 3rd April 2007 04:44 PM

why does she even need 120 suitcases????????
