[NEWS] Jolin Tsai went to Ayu's concert~
 

well everyone here know Jolin right? well my sister in Taiwan told me that Jolin went to Ayu's concert, she read it in the newspapers and that she was in the VIP room, there were also many other Taiwanese singers who went but dunno their name.

i don't think this should be in the news section because my sister could be wrong but she did say she read it in the newspapers and i don't have any sources so whoever finds the news article would be cool :)

I read on a newspaper article over at ayunite, it stated that jolin went, so did Cyndi wang and a few other taiwan celebrities.

The newspaper article stated that Jolin took another route- a more discreet one- to avoid reporters asking her about the whole " Jolin copying Ayu" matter.

I have always known myself that Jolin has been copying Ayumi and maybe even
Namie. Whenever I see Jolin I always compare her with Ayumi and Namie because
of that. I think it was mentioned before that she had an outfit that was of Ayumi's
or copied from Ayumi's before. Jolin mentioned it long ago. :D

Okay people who are saying Jolin is a disgrace and a copycat should grow up. If you actually watched Jolin's PVs or listened to her recent music, you'd know that she's hardly anything like Ayumi.

I'm a fan of both Ayumi and Jolin and I can see with my own eyes that Jolin is not copying Ayumi.

With that being said, it's obvious that Jolin is a fan of Ayumi. She went to her concert, just like Ayu went to Madonna's. How would you like it if everyone said that Ayu should be looked down upon and should be crying and shamed and people should "smash" Ayu if they were there because SHE copied Madonna? And of course Ayu should feel ashamed of herself for even showing up at Madonna's concert. Right? It's the same thing as Jolin going to Ayumi's.

... Some comments are okay if you've actually evaluated the situation rationally, but saying that Jolin should be ashamed or even physically hurt because she went to Ayumi's concert, well I think that's just barbaric. Grow up.

Personally I feel honoured that one of Asia's most popular artists ever decided to attend Ayumi's concert.

I don't see how ayu being a big fan of madonna attending her last concert (as seen in a deiji deiji diary) and taking ideas from her is any different than jolin doing the same with ayu. I actually find it quite remarkable that these big stars all find their traces from another big star they admire.

Nice to hear local artists went to ayus concert. Im not surprised jolin went. I wouldnt be surprised if she took some notes too..lol after all ayus concerts are really great to watch. I did see some resemblance in jolins recent concert tour where she had water fountain and the lift up stage with the crystal danglings..but whatever...hopefully her new concert dvd wont have ayus name on it again like her J1 concert dvd.

Just to let you know, I'm not a Jolin fan anymore and it has nothing to do with her 'copyings' - I just dislike her current style, prefer the older ones.
But I think that people have a right to so-call 'bash' anyone they want to - some might feel rather childish/silly - at least they are just voicing their own opinions. I'm sure most of us have artistes that we don't like and we will 'bash' them 1 way or the other so yeah I dont think they are childish or silly comments. Afterall this is a forum.

they said jolin entered the concert thru the backdoor (if ur chinese, u shud noe wad i mean) instead of using the front one.. although the other singers used the main one...

It's not surprising at all hehe. I was just thinking Jolin might not be able to make it due to her coming concert in Singapore but seems that she made it after all.

It's really a waste not to watch (whether you are a celebrity yourself or not) when it's like Ayu's first out-of-Japan tour and it's not like that she'll do another Taiwan live in near future. And especially when she can get the VIP seat lols. xD

Even if I weren't an Ayu fan but had the chance to go, I would =)

With the Taiwanese so influenced by Japanese culture, you can't really blame Jolin for 'copying'. That's how I see it.

It's good that other singers respect Ayu enough to go to her concert. I think it's interesting that Ayu admires Madonna and she went to her conert, while Jolin admires Ayu and so she went to Ayu's concert. It's like the circle of life, diva style.

their songs are not in the same genre, but their styles are almost the same..

Some ppl think its their music that ppl are comparing to but its not. Their music is not alike at all..totally different. Its the style, appearance, everything else thats quite influenced by mainly ayu and other jpop and western artists.

I could say something to the effects of "the theif always returns to the scene of the crime"...but I don't really know Jolin enough to say that. If she does copy Ayu, that's fine as long as she's woman enough to admit it. If not, then she's not very honest with herself or her fans for that matter.

A year ago I watched the MV for "Dancing Diva" by Jolin and I didn't see any simularities between her and Ayu in it. I saw more J.Lo and Beyonce in it than Ayu. Maybe she does copy Ayu, i wouldn't know; only the fans of both Jolin and Ayu would know that for sure. One thing I do know for sure though, Ayumi Hamasaki is a trendsetter. She wears the styles that make our wallets seem like barren deserts when we try to imitate her. Whether we are rich and famous (like Jolin) and/or broke (like me..lol) if we like Ayu's style we will try to imitate it because we like it. Of course there are those who want to BE Ayu...but that's a another story that I DON'T think applies to Miss. Tsai.

Haha I noticed Jolin's concert entrance was on a swing, kinda similar to Ayu's (Ayu's concert entrance for HK was on a swing). I'm happy that Ayu does influence other singers, it shows Ayu's real creative in her designs. Yeah Ayu does take reference from Madonna, for eg her foxtail for Evolution. Copying or being similar is unavoidable, Ayu does mix in some of her style in stuff she takes reference from so it becomes unique.

When we do design, we also study alot of reference materials but have to modify and mix in a little creativity of our own. Just dun do whole-sale copying, keep some room for ur own creativity.

I actually think that Madonna "copies" from Ayu. The giant cross from her 2006 Confessions Tour? I remember seeing a cross in Ayu's Countdown 2005 as well.

I also remember seeing Ayu's foxtail as early as Surreal (she performed with a white foxtail on NHK's Popjam). That would be in 2000. I saw Madonna's foxtail on her 2001 Drowned World Tour. There might be an earlier instance, though... Of course, I think some unknown girl in Harajuku wore the foxtail first :)

Madonna is a VERY clever artist. She gets a lot of her ideas from sources that are underground and not mainstream, therefore not that well-known, so that she always seems "fresh" and "original". So everyone please don't use the argument of her not knowing who Ayu is. Remember Madonna's Hollywood music video? And the unknown European fashion photographer whose work it copied? I wouldn't be suprised if she knew who Ayu was.

Anyway, the idea of "copying" expressed in this thread seems too oversimplified for my taste. Ayu_Jayson said it best: "Ayu does mix in some of her style in stuff she takes reference from so it becomes unique". Same goes for Madonna, whose influences are from around the world. Same for John Galliano. Same for The Beatles. All these great pop artists.

Originality, whatever that means, doesn't exist in the world anyway. Everything in this world, its different cultures, ideas, and people, will always have things in common, will always find in each other the most suprising similarities, and that's what makes life so beautiful.

I'm sure Madonna's heard of Ayumi. She's been to Japan alot.

Dudes, the Jolin hate needs to stop. She's a talented musician in her own right. Can singers go to other singers' concerts without malicious intentions? Ayu's been to Madonna's concerts before and has used some Madonna concepts in her own shows. Inspiration is a healthy thing.

Ayu did the cross before madonna did. Ayu did it in her cdl 05-06 concerts and madonna later on did it in her confessions tour. From the pics Ive seen that ayu 'copied' madonna is the clothing, concert costumes and the way she performs it, and pvs.

Wouldn't consider Ami copying Ayu either, as you said. Both were released close so probably it was avex's idea. The doll thing is already overused. Anastacia used it before both of them.

It's a fact that artists copy/are inspired. I don't mind as long as they don't completely rip off an artist's style and claim it as their own creation. Ayu only took some ideas and incorporated them to her style. I don't see the huge deal about it.

J-Pop is actually inspired from American pop so it's pretty obvious that some elements will be present in J-Pop too.

I know that Jolin copied Ayu in the past, yet ever since she switched labels most of her music is the most original stuff I've seen around. Maybe because it was her record label who was forcing her to copy material? What truly pisses me off is when people go running around bashing Jolin because she goes to Ayu's concert. C'mon.. I don't know you but that seriously sounds like someone needs to grow up and quit hating someone they don't know.
