Aiko Kayo is a popular idol on avex trax. She made her debut, however, in 2001 auditioning for the 5th generation of Morning Musume. She made it to the final 9, but was not chosen due to her lack of dancing skill. She was quickly signed to avex trax's anime sub-label, avex mode, and begin training at the avex artist academy.

In December 2003 she released her debut single, "hitomi no naka no meikyuu," which was a minor hit on the Oricon charts. She followed that up with eight more singles before finally releasing her debut album, "Dolce," in March 2006.

Since then she has released three more singles, "☆HOME MADE STAR☆ ~Aiko Kayo no THEME~" in August 2006, "cosmic cosmetics," produced by capsule's Yasutaka Nakata, in November 2006 and "yuuki no CHIKARA" in April 2007.

I just got done renaming some of her files that I have from her Dolce album. Gonna give it another listen through later on. I must say she's quite a charming artist. She's a great listen if you're in a "MUST LISTEN TO SUPER POP MUSIC NOOOOW" mood. :laugh

Plus she's really, really cute. I'm surprised she doesn't sell more.

Aiko is cool! I feel that her releases are some of the better material out of the Avex camp these days. I enjoyed her album, and her singles have been very solid. "Hold on to love" and "Orange road" (c/w from "HOME MADE STAR..." ) are particular favorites of mine.

I wish she would get some field time during the TEAM dream futsal matches, though.:clapclap

I really love "solitude" from her first single, and her album tracks, "midori no kisetsu" and "yuugure wa LOVE SONG."

"cosmic cosmetics" is really cute, too.

Aiko's releasing her second album on June 6th! It'll come in three editions - a limited CD+photobook, CD+DVD and a normal CD-only.

Aiko is awesome! I'm happy to know that she will release her second album soon! WOW! My favourite song is Callin' ~Boku wo Yobu Koe~!!!

Yay second album! At least this one shouldn't be like a compilation of a million singles. :laugh

Aiko's going to be in a new unit with Nao Nagasawa and dream member Yuu Hasebe. Their debut single will be used as the ending theme to the upcoming Girl's BOX movie, and will feature a parapara style dance.

Apparently the unit was Nanase Hoshii's idea and she will act as the producer.

I just discovered her today, P♡P is great! My favourite track is cosmic cosmetics, which I only just found out was produced by Yasutaka Nakata, so no wonder. They should collaberate more often! Oh, and does anyone know what position P♡P reached? :]

It ranked 140th, but I've yet to find any sales. =x Her first album, "Dolce," ranked 175th its first week and sold 1,166 copies, though.

Also, she and/or Kingyo needs a new single soon. =/

The site for Aiko's movie, "Girl's BOX LOVERS HIGH" has opened. They're also releasing a "navigation" DVD for the movie on February 22. It'll feature interviews with the main cast, including Aiko, and making-of footage. The movie opens sometime in March.

Also, Aiko mentioned recording new songs for the movie a few months back, but I'm not sure if she'll release a new single or if it'll just be for the soundtrack.

Yuu, Nao and Aiko were all in Kingyo together.

The "Girl's BOX THE MOVIE LOVERS HIGH Vocal Collection" soundtrack will be out March 19th. It will presumably include a new track from Aiko.

looks like Aiko's been dropped/left avex. her official site was deleted, and all mentions of avex have been removed from her blog. sad. =(

Yeah, I still regularly listen to her music. I think much of the music that came out of Avex's Girl's BOX was some of the best stuff the label put out. I miss not only the artists like Aiko and SweetS, but the awesome production from people like ats- and Greenwich Fields.
