Introducing Satomi Takasugi! -debut single out 06.06-

Satomi Takasugi is an ex-gravure idol, race queen and current solo singer on avex sub-label Rhythm Zone. She is a former member of the avex girl group wi☆th, with fellow gravure idols/race queens Chinatsu Wakatsuki, Iori and Kana Hoshino. She will be releasing her debut solo single on June 6th. The title track, "tabibito," will be used as an image song for the "saiyuuki" movie starring SMAP's Shingo Katori starting July 14th.

Max Matsuura has called her the next Ayumi Hamasaki or Kumi Koda on his blog.

where i can find the preview of her debut single? i have browse her website..and i can't find it

^ I think it says on her site she's born in 1985 making her 22 years old. I don't think that's like unacceptable age to debut in j-pop. Ayu was 20yo when she made her mainstream debut.

anyways, I think it shows potential on her part how Avex has put her on Rhythm Zone instead of say, Sonic Groove :o

The preview kind of reminded me of Hitomi Shimatani's music (not her singing, though). I like it. :)

"Tabibito" means "traveler".

A gravure models are usually pre-teen or teen female idols who pose in clothed or suggestive photos.

yea, that's true. but if i'd have to compare her to those two, i think i'd pick ayu, cuz she's kind of mature and classy, i guess? can't explain it, lol.

i think her voice is really similar to aya ueto voice...
but satomi is more mature than aya...

I think he just means the push avex is gonna give her. The movie her single is being used in should be huge. The drama it's based off got excellent ratings.

An ex-gravure idol and race queen? Oh god, it's another Leah Dizon. As long as she doesn't overdo the "sexy" image so that she seems ****ty, there's a chance I might like her. The preview sounds pretty nice, but who knows if she can actually sing.

I'll try her..actually she and leah arent the only ex idol there XD Zard used to be a Race Queen too and after that she begin her singin' career with the band ZARD and became VEEEEEEERY SUCCESSFUL even when ZARD lost the members and she remained as solo with the same name and stopped to be on tv and magazines, being an ex race queen doesnt mean to be sexy XD Zard wasnt sexy at all and plus she never shows herself in tv since 1993 XD

haha..i don't think so..avex work hard to promote beni arashiro..but her sales keep declining..although she still appear on some CM...but her music carrier is really bad

^ That's true, but I don't think Beni had Max Matsuura calling her the next Ayumi Hamasaki on his blog either. I think avex wants Satomi to do well, so they're pushing her big time. Her debut single has a HUGE tie-in, she's got all kinds of appearances lined up and, most importantly, she's debuting with a GOOD song.

She was supposed to debut back in February with a cover of Yoshiyuki Ohsawa's "soshite boku wa tohou ni kureru" - and she even performed it at last year's Rhythm Nation - but I think Max/avex pushed it back her debut now so they could make sure she'd do well.

I dont think Avex promotes Beni so much...when he really wants to make someone BIG he does it, like he will do with Satomi, we can see already how big is her promotion and she didnt even debut yet!

yeah..just wait and see..i have a big hope on satomi too...

her voice is more beautiful than i thought, the song is amazing, however, the structure strays slightly from the norm. but the song is awesome nonetheless
