weird title

Anyone know the meaning of these titles? because it makes me confused
1. Walking proud = walking proudly?
2. Everywhere nowhere
3. Heartplace = Place for heart?
:tipsy

1. Yes you are correct!
2. After you read the lyric, you'll understand what's 'everywhere nowhere'
3. I don't understand it either

HanabiChick 4th May 2007 10:12 AM

I think Heartplace might mean a place where your heart belongs, like to a person - something or somewhere you belong/fit in. The lyrics suggest that she's trying to find that place or person. That's how I interpret the song.

Yarumi 4th May 2007 01:20 PM

I agree with Hanabi chick on Heartplace... The song is about freedom... It's one of my favs!

What's wrong with Walking proud? seems good to me...

terra 5th May 2007 02:16 AM

Yeah, walking proud seems normal as you can read the lyrics it is stated that "to walk like you..." or sort of thing

One of the most confusing lyric for me is WHATEVER and vogue
As I try to interpret I got all confused with it

Vogue is fashion or style. I think Hamasaki might have been using it as "beauty" when talking about the person the song is about. It could have even been about how she felt maybe her career and she was in style and how it might just end quietly.

With WHATEVER I think we get the impression that it's like "Okay, yeah yeah whatever." But it might be something along the lines of, "whatever might happen..."

cater2u 5th May 2007 03:58 AM

How about ' end roll ' n 'momentum' ?

Jeanette 5th May 2007 04:04 AM

the only songs that I don't really understand the meaning of are.

Humming 7/4
kiss o'kill
Memorial address

end roll is a refrence to the ending credits? when she wrote that she thought her career was going to end soon (or had reached it's end?). i think someone else can elborate on that.

momentum is movement, hamasaki talks alot about the paths we are on and walking them. i think when she says in the song "my love for you is my last courage," it's like her love and the courage are letting her move. she's got momentum? i hope i explained that right.

cater2u 5th May 2007 04:12 AM

and ' a song is born '? it mean one song is born or Ayumi song is born? ^^;

alt.total-loser 5th May 2007 04:48 AM

o__o; The song title for A song is born... I think just means... Look! A song is born.

I dunno. CS? =/

sora2522 5th May 2007 05:08 AM

a song is born was a tribute to the 9-11 attack...that might be partly the name reason

memorial address was also rumoured to be her 'last' album, so the 'address', or speech, so it's supposed to be memorable (hence, memorial address)

alternarist 5th May 2007 06:58 AM

haha!! this is a very interesting thread!!! it enlightened me about ayu's song titles and its lyrics.. :D

Humming, i think she means "24/7" as in all the time... cos she says she'll keep on humming or something like that in the song....

and kiss o' kill is kiss or kill i'd say, lyrics:

The more you pretend to be strong, I see your weakness
The more you bare your fangs, I see your pain
You can be yourself, I'll accept you
You don't have to be afraid, because I know you
We shed tears as if we were laughing
And laugh as if we were crying

(the last chorus)...

so it's like she's saying "kiss (fix...) [what we have] or kill(it)"

Yeah, the song is about her Grandmother's death. A memorial is something in memory of someone or something. Someone else on here kept saying it was about her farthers death but from what I've heard we know nothing about her father and it's presumed he's still alive?

Just look at the lyrics and you can tell it's not about her grandmother. They were supposedly very close, so I DEFINITELY tend to do with the dad theory. But only Ayu knows for sure.

fanmail 5th May 2007 08:33 PM

Humming 7/4 ... isn't that a time signature?

4ever*ayu 11th May 2007 03:45 PM

what about HANABI, is it a japanese? what the word 'HANABI' means in english?

That's strange... I mean... I read somewhere Ayu's grandmother passed away in 1999 or around that time...

And Memorial Address is from 2004???

But if the song was about her grandmother passed away that would explane why she needed to cry at the AT03-04 performance :scry that was soo sad

Yeah, why would it be about her father, I read on pinkangelayu.free.fr that Ayu said: I don't even know if he's dead or alive

EDIT: I dunno if it's about her grandmother if they where very close, in the lyrics Ayu sings this:

Keishi 11th May 2007 04:24 PM

HANABI means fireworks. ;D
It's japanese.

4ever*ayu 11th May 2007 04:49 PM

how it related to the lyric? the lyric is about hope and wishes, right?

indeed, it's strange :yes

sora2522 11th May 2007 06:38 PM

all the lyrics can be found in the lyrics forum
plus, i think she mentions something about fireworks in the lyrics :P

extepan 11th May 2007 10:45 PM

Walking proud is actually grammatically correct, it is ok to say "i am walking proud" etc. so it is not so weird. the weirdest is kiss o kill for sure.

panda87 12th May 2007 12:37 AM

you know what title alone is weird? "ARE YOU WAKE UP?" like wtf? LOL!!!

but Hanabi, as fireworks, or in literal terms, flowers in the sky... i'm not too sure about how the lyrics and that title relates... hmmmmmm........ maybe it's a poetic way of saying how the constellation of the stars are like and on this specific night, they aren't there... i don't know.........

so in Episode II, she finds one at last and casts her wish onto that star, the beautiful memories and emotions that are within that wish are placed upon the stars and create a beautiful constellation that looks like a Hanabi................... i'm only guessing here though :/

sora2522 12th May 2007 01:22 AM

btw, before anyone asks:
hana means flower
so hanabi literally means fire flower

terra 12th May 2007 06:06 AM

IMO
HANABI I and II lyrics for me quiet related as seeing the night sky. Cast a wish on a star and some sort as if we see fireworks in the sky too. So it's some kind of missing someone while seeing the sky

OK, after I asked about vogue and WHATEVER

How about NEVER EVER? I'm still confused about it

anyone can help??

Well see, the song lyrics don't speak of childhood at all. She lost her grandmother as an adult and the line "the phone rang in the morning, breaking the quiet," when I hear that line I think of it as the bad news that some one died. She wouldn't get a phone call from her mother, whom she lives with saying "hey your dad left...oh he could be dead because you wont ever hear from him again!"

And someone else commented and made no sense and didn't really disprove the whole father/grandmother thing. "look at the lyrics..." uhhhh...no i'll touch them?

Yes yes, I agree about the phone ringing thing... but what would this mean:

I wish I could have heard from you
That I had certainly been loved by you
Only once, even if it had been a lie

Aga-chan 12th May 2007 08:33 AM

HANABI

The "H" single was released in summer and refers to events that ayu connects with this season. (Except for "independent" which was recorded much before the other two songs.) "July 1st" refers to her day off (the birthday party, meeting friends) while "HANABI" refers to watching firework.
Firework in Japan, I think, symbolizes something beautiful, but short-lived - in this case it symbolizes love. Also firework looks like little stars on the sky...

Memorial address

I doubt that "Memorial address" is about her grandmother. It doesn't make sense. Because they had a good relation, ayu probably wouldn't have written about her:

I wish I could have heard from you
That I had certainly been loved by you
Only once, even if it had been a lie

You would only feel this way and say such things, when you have never known that you have been loved by a person. ayu's father left her at an very early age. She hardly remembers and knows her father, so she probably can't remember to have heard - or felt - to have been loved by him.
Maybe ayu longs to hear it from him - even if it had been a lie - because she wants to feel relief that he didn't left her, because he didn't loved her...

Keishi 12th May 2007 11:10 AM

And also I heard that it's a traditional folklore that sometimes when you watch a fireworks, you can saw a reflection of someone that has passed away.

cater2u 12th May 2007 12:30 PM

i dont know to about never ever, and ever free... ?
and what the meaning of Haru yo, koi ?

waaahiyak.... so many confusing title... ( IMO lol )

Keishi 12th May 2007 02:35 PM

Are you asking about the title in Indonesian? I can explain that if that is what you mean.
Oh, Haru yo Koi means Spring Love (Spring, as in seasons).

4ever*ayu 12th May 2007 03:52 PM

as i know Haru yo Koi is not a song written by ayu, so its not so much related with ayu

what about kanariya, is it also japanese? what does it means?

fanmail 12th May 2007 04:00 PM

"kanariya" means "canary" ;) Here's the lyrics (that I remember):

"The canaries didn't cry, Not because they couldn't, They just didn't"

something like that xP

4ever*ayu 12th May 2007 04:39 PM

canary? i remember there is a crow in the music video, and not canaries, what was that all about? so confusing, neh?

Keishi 12th May 2007 04:48 PM

It's not a crow. I believe it's a canary.

I also think it's a canary

I'm sure it's a canary? Why would she put a crow in a song about canaries? lol

yeah... that would be weird

sora2522 12th May 2007 07:36 PM

but aren't canaries supposed to be like, tweety bird?
and isn't the robo-bird in the pv like, a raven or a crow?
maybe that has to do with the lyrics, somehow...
maybe the people are actually the canaries?

Impracticable 12th May 2007 09:16 PM

i think Humming 7/4 means like

1_3/4 (x) humming

like a math problem

thats the way i see it.

So like.

1_3/4 (x) humming = Singing.

JesA 12th May 2007 09:44 PM

^ i think the most logical meaning of Humming 7/4 is that the 7/4 is a time signature, meaning she's humming in 7/4 time...7 beats per measure, 4 notes to a whole note, 2 beats to a half note, and 1 beat to a quarter note. it doesn't sound much different than a song in 4/4 or 6/8 time, but there is a subtle difference.

and that isn't a canary in the Kanariya PV. It's too big. And the crow/raven/whatever it is, could symbolize some kind of darkness or sorrow. it would fit the lyrics. Just cuz the song is called Canary doesnt mean the PV HAS to have a canary in it.

Beffi 12th May 2007 10:13 PM

I thought it was a crow, but I knew the song was about a canary. It's black... but I don't know a thing about birds XD
But HANABI means firework.. I suppose that explains the firework things in the PV.

Impracticable 12th May 2007 10:30 PM

Yeah. HANABI (the lyrics) has nothing to do with fireworks
But if youthink of HANABI ~episode 2~ as a conitnuation, which it basically it is, the last line of HANABI~episode 2~ DOES have to do with Fireworks .. so it makes sense.

I think it is ...

"And that night my emotions for you blew up like fireworks in the night sky"

or something like that.

Beffi 12th May 2007 10:44 PM

HANABI:
I'm looking up at the stained sky
so my tears don't well up and fall.

HANABI ~episode II~ :
This feeling, this feeling, go up into the sky
And be dispersed beautifully like a firework

Yeah something to do with a firework in both the lyrics :)

This line would lean more towards her dad but (for what I heard, I could be wrong) her whole family was kind of distant and maybe she hardly heard "I love you" from her mother/father/grandmother.

Also, when her grandmother died she wasn't even in the same city as her family (wasn't she recording music at the begining of her career?). She could be refearing to the fact that she wasn't there when her grandmother died and that she didn't get hear her say that she loved Hamasaki.

sora2522 13th May 2007 04:29 AM

i think that it was before one of her concerts, when she found out her grandmother died
i think that the song's more related to her grandmother. just my opinion

anyways, for weird titles:
what about STEP you?
how can you STEP someone?

4ever*ayu 13th May 2007 05:18 AM

i just re-watch it, and i realized that IS A CANARY!
my low quality video tricked my eyes before, lol

sora2522 13th May 2007 05:42 AM

i repeat:
aren't canaries supposed to be like tweety bird?
and isn't tweety bird yellow?
or are canaries actually black and looney toons are just tricking us?

4ever*ayu 13th May 2007 06:14 AM

yes, i thought so too, as i know canaries are not supposed to be black
but maybe there's another kind of canaries in japan with black color

Beffi 13th May 2007 08:17 AM

Google images doesn't show us any black canaries :(
Veoh player has a high quality version of kanariya, I shall have another look :)

fanmail 13th May 2007 08:48 AM

STEP you ..... I had a great explanation for that but I lost it >_<

Keishi 13th May 2007 09:29 AM

If my memory serves me right, it's about steps in relationship. The first one is the glamour Ayu, where she charmed the man. But then she doesn't want to appear cheap, so she act cool (the second ayu). As their relationship advance, she began to appear more shy and afraid (the third ayu). Next, after she confirmed with their love she is not afraid to seduce him with her sexiness (the fourth ayu). I kinda forgot who wrote so though.

Beffi 13th May 2007 11:54 AM

Ooh so that's what STEP you means :) Thank-you.

Kanariya
Wikipedia tells us:
Quote:

It is yellow-green, with brownish streaking on its back.
So it is possibly not a canary, but the lyrics tell us:
The city is alive
The people are restless
The birds that
fly into the night

are already asleep.

The bird associated with night is a crow? Hence why it is black. :shrug I'm not sure.... but that's my expanation. We should just ask Ayu.
