Thoughts on "fated" preview
 

So here we go again :D

What do you think about it? I found it was pretty different from what I imagined, which is a good thing. Seems like she's experimenting with a new phase :D I'm liking it since it seems to blend in with the "glitter" preview so far.

I think it's great so far! "fated" actually made me REALLY excited about the single. ^^ Still so long until the release...
But I have to say ayu's voice DOES sound different. Almost like a live performance (specially because of the emphasized vibrato in the end).

Hmm. I have mixed opinions.
Yes her voice sounds a little weird, but the tune sounds really lovely, I couldn't give a full opinion until I heard the actual song though.

You know what I think? it really sounds like a CREA composition to me...the melody is sorta random, like CREA songs are....
but so far, not very impressed..maybe the full version will be better....

So far, it sounds excellent. It's a new kind of melody for her, it's not ultra repetitive like a Tetsuya Yukumi composition. (Watch it be composed by him, though.)

I like the way the melody sounds. Her voice in the song might take a while to get used to, but I like the way the melody is.

It's quite nice, I get better emotions than I got from the glitter preview.

I like it! Has a sad atmosphere to it and suits the traditional japanese movie well. Loved the music arrangement and I can't wait for it to come out! Her music has been starting to sound the same recently to me and I think this will be a nice change!

Actually from what I've seen from this preview she couldn't exactly work on a rock ballad but she had to work on something with ballad/mid-tempo elements. The movie looks like a traditional/horror movie so probably she was kinda restricted on how she could work on this song.

And I wouldn't worry about not having rock songs. Ayu loves rock music so we'll probably get something in fall/winter. The movie sounds fairly interesting. Inoe Mao [HYD main female actress] has a part of this movie and she has proven that her acting skills rock.

I think it's okay. Her vocals are amazingly good though. I won't know until I hear the whole thing though...One thing is for certain though, I'm not getting the same excitement vibes that I had for the Bold & Delicious preview and that isn't a good sign for me personally.

Well, we don't really get much of a preview for either of the songs..

I think that the song has potential. The melody isn't too typical of an Ayu song, and there's interesting guitar-soloness in it. :O

For most, the PVs will probably make or break these songs.

I think I know EXACTLY how you feel. ^^ I wasn't so excited for a preview since... Well, quite some time. xD I actually have to keep myself from listening to it over and over again... (I actually don't want to get too excited, though it's difficult not to. ^^a)

Somehow it's a little between "It was" and "Secret" for me. It has the mid-tempo rock from "It was" and the live feeling and emotion from "Secret".

The song preview sounds different..before I thought it would be a song like is this love? but it turns out to be completely different. This song sounds like its from the i am.../RAINBOW era...I love it so far :D

fated already sounds just A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!! Like a Moments/It was combination, I think I'll love hit, glitter/fated is definitly going to be a great single!!!!!!! and I won't wonder if it will sell more than BLUE BIRD...though sales are not what they used to... but glitter and fated from the preview really got me excited with the single.

Seems interesting, different from what I was expecting. It sounds promising from the preview, and different from her recent ballads and similar songs. Looking forward to hearing the full version.

uhh....not too impressed with the song......sob sob i really wanted it to be like is this love? but i'm not surprised considering the song is for a love movie, it really wouldn't match i suppose....so far i like glitter more.....

Sounds lovely!! Great potential, can't wait to hear the full version! I find it really cool watching the movie trailer with it. There have been times when I've been at the cinema watching trailers going "I wonder what it'd be like to hear an Ayu song in this kind of atmosphere..." So this is especially cool

I found it very bland =/ I don't think that the song will grow much on me. I don't think I'll enjoy much this single... *sigh*

yeah once again i feel this new single will not be great, as ayu is following her same old "Ill recycle my old sounds into new ones" theme. i love ayu so much, but i have low hopes. I pray im wrong. i really do. but as long as others like it, then im glad.

Actually I think this melody IS Fresh! It's not like BLUE BIRD in which DAI popped into my mind at once, or like fairyland that was remarkably like angel's song OR glitter in which indepedent popped into my head.

Why this is not the first A-side is beyond me and now I'm really hoping it's going to get at least a little more promotion than usual.

I don't think these are neccesarily the final arrangements, but I like the acoustic sound of the drums, it seems more raw than the usual rock/pop ballads she does (form f.ex MY STORY).

Also I think if this movie turns out to be a hit (which is likely as it's by a pretty famous director ^_^), maybe we'll see this single have a longer chart time than her usual recent releases.

I hope the people looking for something a little new will be satisfied. It's still pop music and she's not evoloving quickly, but I think this may turn out a little different in some way. We'll have to wait and see...

I kind of hope they do more with the arrangement than what we've heard so far.

Ive heard the tune somewhere before..

I listened to the preview from the trailer but i'm still gonna wait for the full version to make my judgement.

For a while I had been agonizing for a ballad (since we didn't get one throughout the course of the year in 2006) and then "JEWEL" popped up and it was amazing (still is). I listened to the CM a few times but would not listen to the full song until the album came out and I am so glad I didn't because it seemed everyone just got sick of it by the time it came out and it deserves more than that. Anyways, then came "part of ME" - good but not like "JEWEL", and now this... It isn't too great now since I am yearning for another "is this LOVE?" but I know it isn't going to be a terrible song. Can't wait for the new single! I'm more excited for "glitter" though :D

Well... I don't really think she follows such a thing... I think that glitter and fated from the previews sound like fresh songs... They are just has the same genre (as some previous) pop and the other one mid-tempo rockish ballad because those are one of the genres ayu sings... You can't expect that ayu will fresh herself with new types like hip-hop or country music ^_^ lol.
It really depends what your favorite genres and therefor I think it doesn't bad but not so fresh for you...
But I don't think those compositions and arrangements are really repeated... they sound totally brand new ^_^.
I think that even ayu is good at not recycling older songs... She might've done it sometimes but almost rarely. Because it's a summer single most likely it will have popish song but the added song is not like wow we heard it already... and even the summer song is the same genre as fairyland and BLUE BIRD, and has summery lyrics and feeling (and most likely summery PV) but it's nothing like those previous songs, except for the song is popish and optimistic, if you get what I mean ... If ayu would recycle that much her fame wouldv'e gone to 0 sales (less than 90,000 for a release) because mainly Japanese like hot new changes and the recycling types I would say not their favorites.

I kinda like the song....and i played it on repeat last night for about 20 times...and it really sounds sad...but i can totally see Ayu being able to sing this song live...

the melody is different from her usual ballad, which is surprising...and from the trailer, it seems that the song has ended...which kinda disappoints me in a way because her vocals....they are very,,hmm...normal? i guess...lets hear the full wan thou

I like her voice. It fits the movie.

Instead of people thinking about what the songs she's making are for, they're judging her music based on their own perceptions of what genres should be.

fated was written for the movie just like HEAVEN did for shinobi.. (I just remembered that both songs ayu written it after watching the movie) and the song really fits the movie (atleast it fit the trailer)

When I first heard this, I was like "O_O I can't wait for this single! It's going to be a fairyland/alterna single! ^^" The song is awesome and I can't wait for a full verison! It's like...Will+alterna+part of Me! =D

I like the high note sher hits at the end. The vibrato thing does get on my nerves sometimes, but i really like this song. It sound more like it would be a album track, not a single track though.

And it sounds CREAish for me ^_^ There is an information that this song is for the Japanese adaptation of "The Ring 2" (I have seen all parts of the ring and I've never heard songs like "is this LOVE" in it). So Ithink that song fits this movie? sad and dramatic... Yeah? I want this single!

Finally, Ayu has a sound that ditches the repetitive melody for a chorus! Few of her past songs have done that, I'm glad she's heading in this direction. I like the sound of fated from what I'm hearing so far. Good song!

Oh man. This is love. I absolutely love love love the preview! It's extremely rare for me to enjoy her previews too, I haven't really liked a preview from the start since "JEWEL" came out. But jeezus "fated" sounds great! This song totally destroys "glitter". Now I am totally pumped for this release!

NO, ayu's voice is pretty angelic in there. I don't find any voices that actually can be better than that (at least for me).

This song sounds very different and it's absolutely a new material of ayu's songs. On the other hand, it's quite a typical j-pop.

It's fine with me if you don't like the preview, but calling it 'recycled' is going too far. You're going to have to find another excuse not to like it. Generic, maybe that can apply, but as far as I'm concerned there are only a handful of Ayu songs that aren't generic. Like what?

I hope one day, Ayu truly makes a horrible CD. With xylophones and glockenspiels and her snorting like a pig. Just to spite all of you.

Depends on your perception on "kiddies stuff" but don't comment if you didn't even read the novel or the manga. It was definitely not kiddies stuff [according to many] since they were were violent and had a lot of references to sex and rape. Personally killing people doesn't make me think of kid stuff. Also in many countries had the movie is rated 18+
