I picked the second option. As much as I love Jolin, I still have no idea about how the music industry in China goes and I don't listen to C-Pop much. So I cannot say if she's the best Chinese singer. But I know for sure that I love Dancing Diva album a lot.



I kinda predict that everyone will bring up all the copycat issues. I suggest this thread is directed into....the New Jolin Tsai who finally had a grasp on originality.

I really don't know all the chinese music industry, but a lot of chinese female artists looks too sucks for me. Jolin is my favorite until yet.

She has some nice songs, but I'm still just a casual listener and not a fan.

the first time i was exposed to jolin was when my friend made me watch one of her concerts...
it was nice, not too bad...but it was annoying how everytime she would be like 'the next song is....*song song sing sing over* yay, did everyone like it? here's the next song...' etc. etc.


she needs to be a bit more like ayu and put in more visuals other than fireworks, dancing, and shiny stuff

plus, the concert that i watched had some weird (UGLY) guy singing, too...
why not get some ayu screenovers while she changes her costume instead of some guy 'singing' (i have a major grudge against rappers)??!

to be honest with u guys , I never said jolin is really a copycat (in terms of similarities compared to ayu..:no) , it's just I can't her looks & everything about her! I don't feel that comfortable listening to her music even though I'm used to it listening to chinese radio stations at work inside my workplace which is a factory with all of those aunties in their 40s to 60s (yes! I'm not lying!)...

and u know what, jolin still remains no.1 most disliked and hated mandopop singer on my list! *two thumbs down* :eviltongu

I agree that Jolin is like various female artists in this world, but she have a magic in her songs. I think this one. But I know that opinions can be different than our things.

I feel bad that I hate her even if I've never really listened to her. But I just dislike her. I'm not a big fan of Chinese music at all, the language gives me a headache. Plus I'm lean more towards Japanese because that's my background, my mother was Japanese and I'm trying to discover that part about myself. Jolin just seems bland to me, I've heard a song of hers a while ago, can't remember the name and I hated it. I remember the PV had fireworks and such in it...hmm..

She's pretty and all, but her voice isn't that captivating. But then again, I do like that one song by her, 'Sexy Lips'... i think? other than that, can't stand her

She's OK.

I think she is an inspiration for all the ugly girls out there who want to be famous. Jolin Tsai proves that it is possible. I respect her for that.

I think she has a great voice, but her image is something else. She tries WAY too hard most of the time. She's really pretty and I'm sure she's quite unique on her own, but lately very few costumes/covers/image-related stuff in general is "Jolin". It's like she takes ideas from here and there and puts them together and frankly it's really noticeable that she's trying to be someone else....but other than that I think she has an enormous amount of talent. :yes

I agree that her image had been a bit unoriginal in the past but lately she seems to develop her own style herself. I love her image right now because it's quite stylish and mature.

I like it. Some songs Jolin are cool.

i like her, but she's not the best in cpop, i love her songs, but i would choose others over hers, she's very talented, but not enough for me to fall in love with her music, she's sells a lot of albums, but she's becoming a product...

I didn't pick an option since I'm really just undecided at the moment, but I did love her at a time. Magic, Castle, J-Game, and Dancing Diva were all great albums. Agent J, on the other hand, was the most disappointing, dry release of hers since she started doing music that didn't suck (before Magic). Now I'm just kind of iffy about her. She certainly doesn't sing much better than your average woman and I've heard from numerous people who have met her that she is a snobby witch in person.

However, her production is so slick that she's managed to release some fantastic material (obviously with her voice as nothing more than an instrument to make the songs work). Really, she's just you atypical pop singer. She isn't all too original. She can't really sing that well. But she comes from an industry where most singers just sing dull ass ballads with no originality, so even though she sings her fair share of these songs, she has enough fantastic upbeat, original tracks to make her relevant. And she certainly does seem to have a great work ethic, and I at least have some respect for her because of that. I just would like to see something exciting from her again since it's been so long.

While I may not be Jolin's biggest fan, I will always defend her from the ridiculous "copycat" claims. How in the heck has she copied anyone? People are always saying she's copied Ayu so many times, but seriously where? I own four Jolin albums and have seen almost all her videos and there is nothing I see that is blatantly ripping off anyone. Just because her music is Pop, that certainly doesn't make her a "copycat" of any other person who sings Pop music.

I couldn't stand the language so I avoided listening to c-pop and such, but when I gave Jolin a try, I instantly fell in love with her music. She's...different. Her music is always so unique and sometimes really weird, like the 'Nice Cat' song. She's great :D

Ok well I don't really hate her but I definitely don't like her. Her voice kind of irritates me tbh....and it's funny because I usually listen to artists that have 'unique' voices if you know what I mean.

Lots of my friends love her but when i listen to her she's kinda boring to me...

I agree with bondingo - her voice isn't amazing and she's another manufactured idol in a somewhat bland industry, but she works with the right producers and composers and that makes all the difference. I know she's been taking over her image lately, but I still see her as a singer and not an artist.

i suggest...all~if you like pop, magic and castle is great, if you like danceable music, dancing diva, if you like sweet ballads with pop, then j-game is great! if you want a variety of everything, agent j is awesome

I agree with you for once. :| I've been a fan of her for a long time and it's obvious she's had waaay too much plastic surgery. She's starting to look like those 70-year-old plastic surgery addictsss.

I always think it's funny how people say she had too much plastic surgery. She looks just like her mother and sister, only her mother is way older and she's prettier than her sister. So unless they all went to the same plastic surgeon...

Anyway, I think Jolin is sweet. She's a fashion leader, has good~catchy music, is really pretty and has a good voice. I am in love with Myself and she's the best chinese singer :yes

If it's true I'm shocked ! she don't even writes her lyrics or composes her music and is well known to be a copycat O_o but she came in Ayu concert in 2007 so I don't know if it's true ?

^ tbh I don't know if it's true, but I remember how ayu fans were angry about that (especially after comparing all those similar looks). I even remember how I tried to defend her saying that may be bashing ayu was part of her image, or she just tried to gain some attention.

but that was like 10 years ago. I've just tried to google it and google gave me nothing. hmm. may be some old folks here remember that.

I listened to her Muse album last month and it's a nice one but not spectacular and pretty generic.I think she's ok,I sometimes listen to her songs but I'm not THAT impressed.
