"Startin'" to like it yet?

I'm sittin' here, jamin' to Startn', and I thought, "this song is so much better than it has credit"! People trashed it, but you must admit, you put it on when you wanna dance nasty :yes! I know some of you love this song, so I'm not talking about you! Tell me what you think, has your opinion changed since last year? Is it all you hoped for and more :laugh?

truehappiness 7th December 2007 09:46 PM

Startin' was amazing to me ever since it came out!

It's so high energy! Makes you wanna get up and shake it. :O

Beauty4123 7th December 2007 09:49 PM

same here! I just loved how much fun the song was! I honestly feel powerful whenever I listen to Startin'. Although my love for it has simmer down a bit.

KuroixShiroi_Namida 7th December 2007 09:53 PM

Startin' was one of the songs that got me hooked to ayu. Though it is #37 on my last.fm XD!

Aga-chan 7th December 2007 09:54 PM

I liked "Startin'" from the beginning, too, basically. But I have to say that before/since the release of "Secret" I came to appreciate "Startin'" even more. ^^ Same goes for "Born To Be...".

Oh YES!

I hated it when it was first released, as I had only heard SURREAL and Dearest and I thought she had gone too "heavy metal", but I really liked it after... I dunno, watching the pv when it came out!

orochicloud 7th December 2007 10:16 PM

I remember everyone hated startin when the single was released (which was when I first heard ayu), but I fell in love with it since the first time :D

ComatoseBunnySnatcher 7th December 2007 10:20 PM

^really?
that was the time where I came to really know ayu!

ComatoseBunnySnatcher 7th December 2007 10:57 PM

^ yes!

I showed it to my sis and she said "It sounds like a Britney song" XD
Britney can't match this!

Northerner 7th December 2007 10:57 PM

I've always liked the song, but the PV is still terrible. :P

Kikaru 7th December 2007 10:58 PM

I was indifferent to it for a while, but then I put on shuffle for my ipod, and it came on, and I was totally like, OMG this is a good song.

Now it's like a top played song for me.

People keep comparing those two videos, just because they both have exploding motorcycles and kinda same colors. Besides that, they're really different. (Big difference: Toxic-sl*tty, Startin'-sexy)

ayumisrael 8th December 2007 02:20 AM

Startin' is fu**ing amazing.

milky_way 8th December 2007 02:26 AM

I was indifferent to it before, but it's now my #6 most played on iTunes.

Kashoku 8th December 2007 02:34 AM

It's number 4 on my extensive ipod list. I love the song. I loved it ever since it came out, and I love the extreme cheesiness of the video.

SheFliesHigher 8th December 2007 02:38 AM

Ha, I always liked it....I even liked the video, too, because it made me laugh. Plus those butterfly glasses were hot.

ImpactBreaker 8th December 2007 04:32 AM

Mediocre, at best.

And sorry, it can't be compared to "Toxic". Toxic is infinitely much better. :cool

But yep, the butterfly sunglasses looked cool on ayu, as well as her black outfit+hat at the graveyard. But the whole rest of the video was garbage.:dead2 The crap CG was quite unexcusable imo.

zoomzoom 8th December 2007 04:40 AM

^ I dont see how that awful jump off of the motorcycle is better cgi than Startin. Plus Britneys stumbling through lasers was so poorly made. Startin doesnt have super cgi, but it's on the same level as Toxic.

alternarist 8th December 2007 05:01 AM

i like Startin' a lot! it's full of energy when i first hear it. but now i think its pretty noisy =X

freedreamer 8th December 2007 05:03 AM

the song is strong...and hyper! haha i like it

sugarbasil 8th December 2007 08:57 AM

I love the song, but yeah, the PV was just so unbelievably cheesy it was hilarious. XD

bondingo 8th December 2007 09:06 AM

I've liked Startin' from the first listen and watching the PV had me hooked on it.

TITANIC 8th December 2007 09:13 AM

startin' and born to be is my favorite single 2006..
i love startin' upbeat song.it make me want dancing if i heard this song

Rurutia 8th December 2007 09:36 AM

startin is so incredibly high energy.....i just want to dance to it....and i hate dancing....thats how good it is Lol

Lumix 8th December 2007 09:53 AM

It's the best song ever! My favorite Ayu song and my cell's ring tone. =D

And the PV rocks everyone's socks as well.

Sasha 8th December 2007 09:57 AM

I really like it)

Chiharo 8th December 2007 10:30 AM

Yeah,Startin' is awesome!

Ryuuzaki 8th December 2007 11:23 AM

austin. ♥ 8th December 2007 01:44 PM

Startin' is actually my favourite Ayu song. :O

Aisha_Angel 8th December 2007 01:48 PM

Startin' was always awesome to me. I've played it so much around the house my parents and my brother used to hum it subconsciously.

Halla 8th December 2007 01:55 PM

at first I wasn't too crazy about "Startin" but after hearing it on "Secret" the song sorta grew on me & now it's one of the better songs on "Secret" :yes

I'm not comparing Toxic's MV with Startin' PV, just the songs. The fact toxic's MV is crap is not an excuse for Startin' PV to be crap. Utada has a much older (by older I mean a difference of years) futuristic PV that has much more tasteful CG effects. At times, Startin' PV looked like Donkey Kong Country CGs for SNES, so grotesque were the color gradations in the CGs.

KaoriNeko 8th December 2007 02:31 PM

^But still sexy.

pUrpLeSn0w 8th December 2007 02:55 PM

i lurve Startin' & it really make me wanna dance!!!
the PV was sooooooo hilarious~~~~ XDDDD
whenever i listen to Startin', would sub-conciously think of the part when ayu "bang" those ppl in the car..the face of 'em was so hilarious too! XD

chibi_sunny 8th December 2007 03:58 PM

It's not my favorite rock song by Ayu, but I really love the introduction of the song. It's alright, I could listen to it once in a while.
I still haven't grown to like the PV.

Yeah, I admit ayu dancing on the graveyard by swinging her dark hat was sexy, indeed. And the "I'm going to drill this * wall by my side because I'm hella cool with these glasses" looked sexy too.

Kikaru 8th December 2007 06:06 PM

I still want those butterfly glasses.

Anyhow, watching the PV always put a smile on my face, because the cheesiness is kind of endearing.

yea my brother does that too....since i listen to ayu so much....he's become familiar with the tunes...and he'll subconciously start whistling or humming the songs.....IT'S GREAT!!

Yeli13 8th December 2007 07:10 PM

I loved Startin', I love it and I will love it^^ It's simply one of my favorite song, it's so catchy!!!!

Ah ok, I read it as if you liked the Toxic graphics much better than Startin', which was weird to me since they're so similar. :P

nightlightyear 9th December 2007 01:46 AM

I tried to look for comparisons between Britney and Ayu on YouTube, but the only thing I found was a video of Britney's Gimme More with ayu's song Startin'. I dont see anything there but a sl!ttyer version of 1 LOVE and my name's WOMEN combined. :laugh

Anyway I loved Startin' since it first came out! My friend actually had a party one night and even though she was scared, she played the song. You wouldnt believe how many people got up and danced -- for fun and with their boy/girlfriends. (:lech) If you walked in or saw everyone dancing without hearing the music, youd think it was a popular song by a current-day singer!

Mirai Noah 9th December 2007 01:58 AM

I liked it when it came out. Then I got tired of it. Now I like it again. :)

CREA.tive 9th December 2007 02:13 AM

When it first came out, I thought it was okay, then I thought it was horrible, but now I really like it:D

MemorialAddress 9th December 2007 02:16 AM

I have always liked it, but everytime I hear it, I like it more and more LOL

:D :heart

darc_aqua 9th December 2007 04:46 AM

It got trashed for its PV. It was the first song I heard from Ayu and still lovin it. *still wondering why people hated the PV* its not that bad, cheesy but not terrible.

puddinx 9th December 2007 10:50 AM

Nice song, horrible PV.. >___<

freedreamer 9th December 2007 03:09 PM

apparently the people who like it all post here..haha...i do remember some people not realy liking it...bah o welll

Startin' does feel a lot better in Secret because it link until that Day... and 1 LOVE (which are both terrific songs)...:D

lfe. 9th December 2007 08:06 PM

i always liked the song, and i enjoy watching the PV also. i dunno what people dislike about it so much but i think its funny

evolutionricky 11th December 2007 07:07 AM

I love the song and the PV. she looks so good in it, she should do her hair that way again.

Blasterion 11th December 2007 09:40 AM

yes I have always loved that song, the music is just awesome,
the pv is maybe a little over the top, but that's what makes it fun I guess :D

Ayumiko 11th December 2007 09:53 AM

At first I liked the song but then I guess I played it too much and got sick of it and started not liking the song...I would skip the track on secret till recently I listened to secret again and forgot to skip it...I started to like it again. I used to think it doesn't fit in after until that day... but it actually does. I guess now the only song I skip on secret is beautiful fighters. I never liked that song and I never will.

yoshino 12th December 2007 07:00 AM

I began to like it..
even changed the blogskin to it.. hahaz..

/Rief 12th December 2007 02:03 PM

I like Startin', especially when AYU sing it live. But the PV is suck
