Any problems with Yesasia?

I wonder if it's okay to post this here, but since I might be buying the new album via Yesasia, I wanted to know if people have encountered any problems when ordering from them, especially those who live in Asia like I do? This is my first time using their services :)

Go ahead and share any horror stories (cracks on the CD case, CDs unwrapped in plastic, hacked credit cards, fungus growing on the CD, etc) :P Don't spare the details!

Qt Mashi 10th December 2007 02:34 PM

hmmm well i only ever had 1 CD cracked a little out of like 30 cd's/dvd's

i like yesasia! free shipping if u spend $50!

i think it's very trustworthy, unlike ebay!!! :eviltongu

Kobayashiwoof 10th December 2007 02:43 PM

i have only had a small crack on the case, but other than that, they are a very reliable service. I have moved to HMV JP for most of my purchases, because its ideally cheaper and easier for me. I have ordered from yesasia many times and have received over 50 products from them, all in tip-top condition pretty much. Only problem is that its not really an ideal time of year to order cd's with the free shipping, because mail is hectic this time of the year, but if you dont mind the chance of waiting longer go for it!, or choose their EMS shipping.

criminal 10th December 2007 03:35 PM

Actually, you get free shipping with an order of $25.

Anyway, be sure to write something like "Please handle with care." in the text box while ordering, that way you can be sure that it'll come in extra plastic and in a cardboard box, instead of an envelope.

devilayu 10th December 2007 08:52 PM

I've never had any major problems with YesAsia.com before. I think I might have had one minorly cracked case in the 4+ years that I've been ordering from them.

milky_way 10th December 2007 08:58 PM

The only problems I've had are cracked cases, but now I order from CDJapan.

zoomzoom 10th December 2007 10:15 PM

I got one cracked case too, only once tho and I orded many times from them.

everlastingRAINBOW 10th December 2007 10:19 PM

I say "please ship item in a box" and they always do! If you don't ask them to, they'll ship it in an envelope :(

DestinyWishes 10th December 2007 10:37 PM

I've ordered 10 CDs from there so far, 2 more coming and I've had no problems with them. Everything was perfect.

polka-dot-jewel 10th December 2007 11:30 PM

Yeah I've ordered many items from there, and the only problem I've had is a payment issue and a slightly bent poster. Otherwise, they're very reliable and quick with shipping!

marekcarey 10th December 2007 11:45 PM

Ive never had any problems. I love fast shippig, great prices, free shipping fees (at most times ^^) and they always give some bonuses like free coupons etc. I love to buy there ^^ I wish I had more money to spend there ^^

LacusClyne 11th December 2007 02:49 AM

i had 2 cracked case from YesAsia.....even i asked them to put in a box, but it comes in an envelope.....

i had changed my orders to HMV japan, faster and cheaper

Blasterion 11th December 2007 09:25 AM

In the (almost) 4 years I ordered from them, I only had one cracked single case,
altough I wonder how it got cracked, since they always put my items in a box..?

But anyways, I've ordered most of my stuff from them, and that's a lot,
and well, so far so good ;)

bondingo 11th December 2007 10:22 AM

I've been ordering from Yesasia for just above two years and the only problems I've ever had are a very slightly cracked CD case and a DVD that was not in the part of the case you stick it in so it had been rumbling around inside the case and accumulating scratches until it arrived at my home. To my knowledge though, if you are ever dissatisfied with the condition of the item, I'm pretty sure they will gladly give you a replacement. You have absolutely nothing to worry about. You aren't accountable for anything that isn't your fault.

kilia22 11th December 2007 11:08 AM

Oh, I had that too with UTADA UNITED 2006. Thankfully it played like a charm.

marty518 11th December 2007 04:35 PM

I've ordered from them sooo many times, and I have never had a problem ever.

Queen Bee 11th December 2007 04:56 PM

I order from there rarely because every time I order a poster it comes damaged to the extreme but when I order CDs from time to time they always arrive in perfect condition.

But the envelope has bubble wrap. :yes

orochicloud 11th December 2007 05:28 PM

I've had 3 CD cases cracked from when I used to order with them. I now use HMV since its cheaper and faster :)

Uemarasan 12th December 2007 03:58 PM

Thanks so much, everyone! You've all been so nice with your responses :) Hmm, now I'm torn between Yesasia and HMV. I'll comparison shop before ultimately deciding. But it seems like almost everyone has had at least one cracked CD case from Yesasia. That worries me a bit :P

Ryuuzaki 12th December 2007 06:40 PM

i have no broken cd case until yet from the cds i purchased through YA

Plumeria 12th December 2007 06:45 PM

I've also had a cracked case, but other than that no problems! I always order from them.

I'm not pulling or pushing you to any side since you're the one making the purchase, but let me just tell you that when I ordered from HMV HK, they sent the item to me in a paper envelope! D: From across the world. But I don't know, maybe HMV Japan has different methods and maybe that was just a mistake on their part.

If you do happen to get a cracked case, you can return it and they will pay for shipping :P

KuroixShiroi_Namida 12th December 2007 08:46 PM

YesAsia is awesome - especially when you get those little toys for free. But i use CD Japan to pre-order first press stuff lol!

milky_way 13th December 2007 08:07 PM

Besides cracked cases, I've also read stories that they won't send some first press items, like poster, that were supposed to be free when you pre-order. Instead they turn around and sell it on their site even though it was supposed to come with the CD.

Nihonjin_Berryz 14th December 2007 03:55 AM

What are the differences in Japan Version, Hong Kong Version, and Taiwan Version etc. at Yesasia.com?

milky_way 14th December 2007 04:58 AM

^ Nothing really. The obi might be in a different language and it'll be cheaper.

zoomzoom 14th December 2007 05:00 AM

I think the Japanese versions have higher quality of paper and cd case too. People commented on the overseas to look cheap.

Xianghua 14th December 2007 05:35 AM

I haven't had any problems. Of course I've had some small cracks on the CD cases but that's expected with delivery through the mail. :P

Earth_maiden 19th December 2007 02:13 PM

My glitter/fated CD+DVD OS single had a giant crack from top to bottom of the CD case. It was big enough that I had to change the CD case (not easy with a double CD/DVD case, I had to retire one of my very old singles, lol). I've ordered from yesasia 5 times before and live in Australia, so I don't blame Yesasia for the damage, but it was still very annoying and disappointing.

Azmaria 19th December 2007 08:50 PM

from the 4 years I have been ordering from them, I only got once a problem and that was that I never recived the movie of MoonChild (limited edition) after I complained they shipped another copy without charging anything. I am very satisfied with YesAsia

eeriegirl 20th December 2007 10:49 PM

if you are thinking buying from them movie DVD with english subtitle, read this. i am speaking from my recent personal experience. it might not happen to you, then you have no problem. i opened the DVD "Muoi" Korean horror film last time, only then I realized they sent me "Region 3" version, instead "Region 1" for U.S. after i talked to the customer service, i agreed to play it on my PC. Here is the first lesson to learn, check the region code as soon as you receive the package. I always ordered DVD in "region 1" i know that much. anyway, i was willing to compromise because the rep told me that don't have region 1!? Enuf about this said here. before the movie started to play, i made the necessary change regarding c.c., sub, to eng-u.s.. But when movie started to play, everything is shown in Korean, i was totally lost as to where to "click" to get to "where". i even checked SAMI format in the media player to capture the c.c., sub. I made at least 6 calls with the first 15 minutes. one of the rep even told me to search the web and download the necessary software to play Eng. sub.!? GOT TO BE KIDDING!
finally when I called them saying i was ready to return this DVD. she said "No, you can't because you already opened the case". i was very angry at that time, decided to take a break from this movie and pop in the Japanse animation DVD "My neighbor totoro" which I bought from local Fry's Electronic. The switching of dub, sub. between pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~-Eng is as easy as snapping your fingers. The main lessos to be learn here is when you order DVD, double check to make sure you receive with correct "Region code". If you rely on english subtitle, you want to make sure it is easy to get to whether you play it in stand-alone DVD, or PC. Customer service certainly is no help at all in this area.
I finally got it to work after I "clicked" at everything I could find the the screen. If you ask me I still don't know what i did to get the eng. sub. only when the main feature starts to play, the eng. sub appears, but the openning page still shows only Korean. If you read, understand Korean, you will be fine, but then you would'nt need Eng. sub, right? sorry to have you read such a lengthy post.

i got Fedex shipping; Black Cherry arrived really damaged; i damaged it even more cos i was pissed off and got a new one xD but they refused to repay me for the Fedex; bastards.

Oh and my CDL 05 06 didnt come with booklet. and then i bvought Bounce and Lovers albu; by Kuu,; over a month ago./ still not shipped.........

zoomzoom 27th December 2007 08:44 AM

^ I would ask them about it if you ordered over a month ago.. the missing booklet is probably because you got a re-released one.
