I love Donna Summer! Where the other disco fans at?! I mean you just can't beat the classics, even her new songs are fantastic.

Before even looking I already knew who created this thread, simply by reading the title :D

Donna's aight tho, even if I'm not particularly a fan.

I love that song, so catchy!

fanmail 29th March 2008 09:56 PM

Vinylfantasy 30th March 2008 09:46 AM

I love the galloping synchopation in I Feel Love. :D

Miku 30th March 2008 10:11 AM

mininamie 31st March 2008 06:05 AM

Is Donna still releasing music?? I had no idea.

Vinylfantasy 31st March 2008 09:13 AM

Yep, she's released a few house tracks over the past couple years and her new record called "Crayons" is coming out May 20th. It's an entirely house album, no more disco unfortunately. I love house music and they say that house is disco's revenge anyways, so I'm not too sad about it. The first single from the album is called "I'm A Fire" and is available on iTunes. :D I have it, it's so great! She's still got it folks! If you'd like a preview of her new song, I'll hook you up. The iTunes versions are basically all instrumental sections of the song. :P

The Queen of Disco's first album in 17 years!! AHH! *so excited*

*dies and goes to heaven*

Miss thing sounds GREAT!

Vinylfantasy 3rd May 2008 06:43 AM

Check out this video rundown of Crayons! Donna talks about a few tracks and it sounds like it's gonna be a fun record! I've been playing Stamp Your Feet and I'm A Fire a bunch lately, they're so fun to work out to. :D I prefer her disco a lot more than her house music but I am really excited for this CD to come out. The remixes are gonna be killer!

Miku 8th May 2008 08:46 PM

Donna's really beautiful on the covers ^^

Mirai Noah 9th May 2008 04:47 PM

Ah, I didn't see this thread before! I love Donna Summer! Glad to see she's releasing something new!

Northerner 10th May 2008 09:10 PM

Haha, it's funny that you mention her --- one of my friends is addicted to "I Feel Love," and he recently sent me the song. :)

..:DisarO:.. 12th May 2008 01:03 AM

Wow... I thought no one here was into her music. I love her!
I'd say that my favorite track is "She works hard for the money". Such an 80s song.

I've heard part of her new material, and it sounds promising.

catcher_inthelight 12th May 2008 08:46 AM

hOLY CRAP!! that is some good music from what I heard on that video I might have to actually have to go to the store and BUY IT!!! and I never even really LIKED HER!! BUT THIS IS HOT!!!!!

Vinylfantasy 12th May 2008 11:09 AM

Her myspace is all decked out in Crayons info! There are TV and tour dates scheduled!!! I'm gonna go see her in British Columbia this summer! :D It's much closer than going to Spokane for me (it's on the opposite side of my state).

CRAYONS IS ON VH1'S THE LEAK! IT'S FANTASTIC!!

jknza2664 14th May 2008 06:33 AM

I'm pretty impressed! While it's nothing terribly original, I'd say a good 2/3 of the album is quality house/dance tracks that I would be happy to hear in a club or something. The album seems pretty top-heavy (all the good tracks being at the beginning and middle) and Crayons is mah groooove lol

Can't wait for its release

Vinylfantasy 14th May 2008 07:59 AM

I totally agree. She isn't exactly bringing anything new to the table, but it's most definitely going to be my feel-good album of the summer.

jknza2664 14th May 2008 08:11 AM

this album is so clearly aimed at the gay community. the queen is back? clearly. lol my favorite tracks are mr. music, crayons, the queen is back, fame, and the queen is back. driving down brazil seems to be growing on me though.

Vinylfantasy 15th May 2008 02:06 AM

Here's The Queen Is Back. I'll keep my eyes open, I'm surprised the whole album hasn't leaked yet since it's up on VH1.

This was posted in her Myspace blog today:

Donna will be making the following television appearances in support of the new album:

Entertainment Tonight - 5/22

Extra - 5/22

CBS Sunday Morning - 5/25

Today Show Summer concert series 5/30

Late Show With David Letterman - 6/2

Vinylfantasy 19th May 2008 01:10 AM

The retail version of Crayons has leaked! :D It's so deliciously good!!

jknza2664 19th May 2008 02:48 AM

I feel somewhat conflicted in saying that Donna's album is, on the whole, better than either Kylie's, Janet's, or Madonna's! Those three had a few nice standout tracks each, but each one as complete works were mixed bags. Crayons, on the other hand, is a pretty solid album throughout with none that necessarily WOW me out of my seat, but a bunch of very strong dance tracks. In that respect it's kind of like Blackout - not stylistically similar just the quality of it for me.

Though she has had 17 years. It's the least she could do LOL

Partino 21st May 2008 01:38 AM

THIS ALBUM IS SSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GGGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDD!!

It's pure disco ... I LOVE IT ...

Fav. Tracks so far ..

Fame
Slide Over Backwards
Science Of Love
Bring Down The Reign
Crayons
Stamp your feet

Vinylfantasy 21st May 2008 07:30 PM

From her Myspace blog:

** TUNE IN TONIGHT **

AMERICAN IDOL FINALE

SPECIAL SURPRISE GUEST APPEARANCE BY
DONNA SUMMER

SHE WILL PERFORM HER NEW SINGLE "STAMP YOUR FEET"

AIRS ON FOX - 8PM - 10PM EST

Vinylfantasy 22nd May 2008 11:42 AM

Donna totally killed on Idol!!! I was really happy to hear her do Last Dance and Stamp Your Feet. I really think that Stamp Your Feet is going to be for Donna Summer what Believe was for Cher.

jknza2664 23rd May 2008 08:06 AM

For some reason the chorus sounded particularly anthematic during that performance. The verses were eh, it was just like hurry up get to the chorus Donna! haha
All in all I think it served as good promotion - reminding people of her old hits (with updated production that sounded great) and showing them that she's still got it voicewise and musicwise on her new record. This album needs to do well and this thread needs to recruit fans! lol

Vinylfantasy 24th May 2008 06:55 AM

Check out this wonderful TV interview she did with Tavis Smiley!
