well to be fair, although a lot of people know about the 1 week early release, most of the world is still only aware of the official release on 01/01/08

Isn't it a little pointless to add the JBook chart positions? They change rapidly and will be out of date in, like, an hour or so.

nothing should really happen, FANS should love an artist because of the music and not because of the sales.

Nobody here loves her for her sales. We just wish to see her sell well. After all, this is how she earns some of her money. :shrug If she doesn't sell well, it's her career that is affected. And us fans don't want her career to be affected.

Right now on Jbook, it's really close between Kobukuro and Ayu for the #1 spot since they've been trading places.

So they should stop using that 1.1. crap because it's all a fib.... IMHO.

I dunno, am I the only one who doesn't get the point of saying it comes out one day, releasing it a week early, and then treating two weeks' worth of sales as the first week of it? It's just so needlessly competitive.

It's probably a Japanese thing for releasing like a day early. Holidays for releasing a week early because of the new year. Treating 2 weeks' worth of sales as the first week is an Oricon thing because they take a break.

Official Oricon sales by Monday although we'll probably get non-Oricon numbers by the weekend.

Yes this "preview" really shocked me out. I was like, "OMG it's only the 2nd of Jan and it's no. 2 already?"
Reading thru the post I assume we'll get either of the below if the album is no. 2 this week:

a) heart attack for a minute
b) watery eye syndrome for a few hours
c) post-no. 2 depression for a few days (well I think I will get this for sure)
d) incompleteness feeling for the rest of our life (nah... probly I won't get this, cuz i believe that ayu will get no. 2 eventually if she keeps on releasing albums anywayz.. no one will be at the top forever)

I know Oricon is going to glue the last week of 2007 with the first week of 2008 (or smth like it), but is that why they're not putting up daily rankings since the 27th?... It's the 3rd today, so they're skipping like, a whole week of daily rankings... I don't get it...

the ranking of Ayu in Amazon & HMV is better than that of kobukuro

When I think about, I don't think I would mind Ayu being #2 or #3. I think Ayu herself won't feel the pressure anymore to always be at the top of the chart like she always did. Maybe it would be kind of a relief?

hmm i think Ayu would be disappointed because she did put alot of her heart into this album abuot her friend passing away and she also said she wanted us to listen to the album and feel it too, so it would be sad for her knowing that not as many ppl care about this album....

but i hope Ayu pulls through!!! it's also her 10th anniversary!!! and her big 30 coming up!!!

I personally don't think Ayu minds being #2 or whatever. I think that after 10 years of being the J-Pop Queen, if she ends up being #2, it wouldn't make her sad. She have accomplished so much already. Having a few #2 wouldn't be the end of the world. But avex... LOL. they would probably freak out.

When Ayu get #1, this will make AVEX realize that they need to include more stuff on Ayumi's album...let's say, 18 PVs for 16 songs...that way, people will be more attracted to her stuff. That doesn't mean she got #1 for the week - that's still up in the air. "Bowing in at the top spot" means she entered the chart at #1, probably for the day because Oricon still hasn't updated past 12/27. Hopefully she does get #1 for the week, but it's still not known for sure.

btw, I'm astounded by the lack of maturity of some of the people around here...
