Why does Ayu still wear the monitor in her left ear?
 

If Ayu has completely gone deaf in her left ear why does she still wear the monitor in that ear during Countdown 2007-2008?

She wasn't aware of her left ear being completely deaf at the time.

no. cuz she had known for a year right? she's been wearing it cuz she was hiding the fact that she lost all hearing in it from everyone but her godmother... no one else knew... so she still wore it in her left ear right?

I don't think that monitor was functioning. It seems as if she knew and was probably blocking out any sound from entering the left ear with it.. if you look closely, she never takes the monitor out of the left ear, whereas she takes the one out of the working right ear numerous times during the concert.

Usually during MCs, she takes both out, but she left the left one inside for the whole concert.

I'm tired of seeing that GIF, it's too sad especially since Ayu wants to move on but it's hard when everyone keeps bringing it up >.<; But yeah, not surprised if she left it in there to not worry anyone. Let's move on guys ^^ It's what she wants.

Sorry to have made it, but it was a lot easier than just telling people: "HEY LOOK AT 1:31:30!!" That's not really the time, but.. yeah.

she knew it for a year?...i tot it was like..only the later part of 2007...

^No one knows for sure, but probably in between the talkin' 2 myself and Together When performances, since that's when she switched to her glittery plugs.

As to why she's still wearing it, I guess it looks better too. Symmetry kinda thing, plus she probably doesn't wanna make it that obvious and draw attention to it, making people feel sorry for her all the time.

She also had problems way before. Like during her A Best concert, she collapsed and she couldn't hear out of her ear, so she had to wear an ear piece for the rest of the night.

I think if I were in her position I'd wear something too, but for symmetry and to also block out any unnecessary noise in a severely damaged ear. All I can think of everytime I read/see something like this is "I hope she's treating that right ear like a queen."

That gif is painful to watch... probably cause it's slowed down haha. But I don't think she's in pain, just.. it's difficult to get out, yeah?

There is a much simpler, less dramatic explanation.

Ear monitors come in sets of 2, guys. That's just how they are made and sold.

There are two ear pieces, which are connected to eachother by wire, and then to a small pack which is strapped to the performer (usually in a pouch somewhere on the back). The pack sends and receives wireless signals to and from a pre-amp. They're basically just like regular ear-bud headphones, only much better quality, and often fitted to an individual's ear. Cutting the unnecessary wire for the left ear monitor (1) is just plain stupid because they cost a fortune, and (2) might damage the monitor's function.

This is actually the first time I've seen that .GIF....I didn't notice that. Poor Ayu. I also thought that at the time she didn't know about her left ear being completely deaf and that she was just wearing one on that ear to shield further damage, and that she went in for her checkup AFTER the CDL. But I guess I was wrong :no

The gif makes me so sad... But I doubt its because of the pain that she winced...

It is that she breathless and tired after all that running and jumping and that thing is a little though to removed, so she just plucked it out and made a lface that shows she removed it with difficulty...
So please dun be sad everyone... =)
