Ok, just to tell, this is thread for fun :) I just found this video and got interested of what you guys think x3 Oh well... Watch it HERE!!
So far... I noticed that they want to make their eyes bigger, change their nose (lift it a little bit? depends) and they eyebrows? (??) Ok... If you ask me, this is a little too much of everything :( They actually change their whole face. Oh well, that`s their choice. ... :)
So this are my comments:

I dont see any proof of plastic surgery, as some guy in the comments posted, they might just have grown up and their facial structure changed a bit.
Also, I dont think ayu had surgery, since you can see the way she looked during her idol days, and now, and you'll notice she had the same eyes as before.

well...I think that these are a bit questionable...honestly, and im not going to deny that the stars get plastic surgery because that would just be stupid, but i personally think a lot also has to do with make-up, hair, and super photoshopping (mainly that) of pictures.

I mean just look at the thread in chat about photoshopping celebrities, i'm sure that any day, pictures of young stars unphotoshopped are going to look way different than adult ones that are photoshopped.

Still not denying that they don't have surgery though. And you're right...they do seem to have an obsession with eyes and noses...its actually kinda starting to annoy me now, but, whatever.

Most of them look like they just matured + make up wonders + a bit of photoshop for the magazine pictures they use as "after" pictures.

Yeahh... I don't think that video proves much except:

for some people their eyes did change, probably due to eyelid surgery since genetically a lot of asians are born with single eyelids (which makes the eyes seem small) so surgery can make it a double one. that's really minor to me though.

still, this doesn't show proof of anything else... people grow up and change, simple.

It's known that they use pictures of other people as the "before" picture than actual baby pics of the artist. I've yet to see any evidence of ayu looking "plastic" or any other obious changes.

Ehhhh I don't really know if Ayu got plastic surgery cuz they mess with her eyes in photoshoots a lot but when you see her performing or on shows her eyes don't look that big. Plus, where do they get that Utada got plastic surgery :rolleyes???

um breasts don't stop growing until you're like 18-21 or so...

It's just annoying that people pull these pictures from when celebrities are like 15 years old...and i'm sorry, but during the teenage years people grow the most, comparing pictures like that isn't enough to convince me.

However about kuu...i think the most obvious thing she did are the moles of course. And probably her nose, anything else, i think can be done with tape, pads, 15 handlers, and photoshopping.

As for Ayu, I still don't see any really substantial evidence. I wish there was, because it definitely looks like she did, but, eh whatever.

Does it matter anyway? Everyone does it sometime or another in show business, and I personally wish that they would get plastic surgery instead of photoshopping, that just, sucks. But both seem on the same plane, it's not going to change anyway.

Koda Kumi definitely has push up bras and probably photoshop and that explains why sometimes they are big and others well.. not so big.

Yeh, they chose bad pics to compare. Tons of make up and everything that makes you look better... I just found it interesting to discuss a little :)

It is, I wonder like, what if every celebrity on the face of the planet had something done, would people care? Would it be like front page news?

I mean like, is there a taboo against getting plastic surgery in todays world? Maybe it's just that, I live in california, and well, I know at least 5 people who've all had at least three things done, on top of spending tons of munny at spas, on fake tanning and all that, I think it's stupid, but then, I never really had a problem with myself, I wonder how it is for people who do.

I saw that video not long ago. What I can say is...

Before and after photos like those can't tell anything. Okay, for some, it's a bit obvious. For others, I don't even see what changed. They took the wrong pictures to compare. If the person who did the video want to be accurate, at least take 2 pictures that are candids. How can you compare a normal picture and a magazine picture?

Besides, if they did or not have surgery, it's not a big deal.

As for Koda, it's impossible she got a boob job. I don't believe that.

^exactly. You take a picture where it's obvious that the model/actor/singer was going for the big eyed look and a picture where they're smiling wildly--they're not going to be the same. And also there are various ways to make your breasts look larger without surgery.

I even doubt about the validity about saying that Maki Goto had a boobjob, because she debuted at age 13, and they do grow well after that. And even then, some women put on weight into their breast well after puberty.

I mean, in some it's obvious that a haircut, nicely done makeup, and some loss of weight will have an effect. Koda Kumi does not look perfect in lives, neither does Ayu, Hikki, Ai, etc. You can't use magazine pics because they've been heavily photoshopped.

I think we're all mature enough to accept that yes the majority of our favorite Japanese musicians/actors have had surgery. It doesn't affect the quality of their work, guys. It just means they want to put their best faces forward (literally). Honestly, the proof in these pictures (and numerous before/after pictures not posted here) is quite compelling. Obviously no one is going to publicly admit to having plastic surgery or deny it, but I think those kinds of surgeries are incredibly common in Asia anyway (especially eyelid lift; hell, my own parents want me to do that).

As almost everyone has already said, aging and the fact that a professional photo shoot is drastically different from a younger candid are obviously going to affect the picture immensely. The Ayu pic on the right was distorted and weird anyways. And I'm sick of this everyone copying everyone else bull**** (i.e. Madonna being copied by Ayu). It's almost as moronic as the whole Jolin copying Ayu topics were.

Same feelings. The comparison images are misleading because photoshop and make up are known to make a world of difference.

why do some people compare Ayu pics (present) with the last 3 or 4 year pics? our faces also change. They might think I've done surgery if they compare my pics (present) with the last 1 or 2 or 3 or whatsoever . . :D
I think korean also have done a lot of surgeries especially their eyes cos many asian have narrow eye including me . .

I still didn't see a cutting proof to anything and if I don't see it, I don't assume.

I HONESTLY doubt koda kumi did plastic surgery. Her high school photo or make up one looks very similar to her album picture imo( I LEARNED THIS =D) this is comparing face wise at least. I don't think Ai Otsuka did either, the proof I saw was a high school photo of her and she didn't look taht different, just squintier but that might be due to her HUGH smile XD. For Ayu I think she did do it but thats ok she wasn't ugly before =)!

Honestly...the ONE thing I hate about before pictures in Japan, is that they're always stupid school pictures.

With rules in schools being the way they are...I mean come on. No make up. No nice hair.

They're usually fatter. Not to mention that they're younger, and therefore still growing.

Ayumi has a very nice body, even if she´s slim and all, but she´s got a wonderful shape on it, and so does Namie.

I agree with all the comments here, most of them didn´t do anything to themselves except fixing their teeth.

But I think that, for Avex and all the record companies:

Isn´t it easier to find a pretty girl to begin with? Why would they spend all the money to make a makeover on random looking girls/ugly girls, risking themselves to lose the money if they don´t have success? It´s stupid, and if you see Ayu and Koda at the beginning of their careers, they were not as different as the "before" pics (also because their style was not as developed). And undergoing surgery after you are popular and well-known is stupid, cause I mean, the chances to get discovered and ruin their images are great. I think that apart from the teeth, the rest is natural.

And the few makeup less pics of Ayu (miss understood tour pamphlet I think), she looks quite similar to her younger self, just that, well, older xD

Too true! I always see pics of J-stars when they're kids and people pointing the finger and saying, "SEE!!! PLASTIC SURGERY!" It's very annoying :rolleyes And to be honest, they don't look too drastically different anyway, if you smacked some make up on those old photos, fixed their hair and photoshop them a bit, you get what we have now lol.

When I first came to the forum...everyone talked about it like it was common knowledge and accepted. Now I'm not so sure.

Nah, that one is pretty true. Back in 2006, there was an official message from Hello Project that she was sick for a few weeks....when she came back, her chest was magically a few sizes bigger. :)

As for these pictures and vids though, its just ridiculous to compare old candid shots of somebody to professional photo shoots.

Ayumi is often to hard to tell. I don't think Namie has changed at all. If I remember right, Koda actually admitted to plastic surgery. And I think that Gackt obviously did something to his nose. Other than that, I can't really comment on anyone because the evidence is just too small.

As for people like ayu i honestly don't think she got her eyes done. she has def got botox and her lips done but when you see her without make up and her extensions she looks exactly the same as her ASFXX days :thud

^ Well, the one thing you have to remember about the photo books though is that they always choose shots/angles and bikinis that make the HP girls often look bigger than they actually are. Not to mention editing afterwords. Even so, her breasts look bigger now than in any of those photos. :) If you look at the full photos in the photobooks that those pictures are from, her breasts look small to medium compared to the rest of her body.
For Maki I remember (as did pretty much everyone else at the time) that her chest looked noticeably quite a bit bigger after supposedly being "sick." When you compare video of her prior to 06 (HP elder club winter '06 being the last concert with her normal chest) to anything after that, you definitely see a difference.

wat ticks me off the most in those comparison pictures is when they use horrible pictures like the one where i saw Gackt in glasses and the Gackt now. like, WTF? how can you possibly tell.

PLUS, as you grow older, you eyes become more defined. if i showed you my high school pictures to now, you'd think i had eyelid surgery which i did not. they became more defined.

ALSO, some pictures, the lighting really helps in defining my nose. in some pictures, it looks big. in others, it looks sharper and more narrow.

people naturally change through time and what they go through. tears have made my mom's eyes look super puffy now compared to when she was younger where her eye's appeared more open. my dad's eyes are more defined now then when he was younger when his eyes were more "chinkier" (for lack of better term).

most times it's a great angle and lighting. and plus, i can wear enhancements for better cleavage that would definitely make it seem i had some surgery done. there are wonder bras out there. i have a few :P

Actually I think V-u-den might be natural. Rika always kinda had a large chest and Yui's look natural to me. Erika I don't know about, but she is the smallest of the three anyways.

She only admit that her moles were removed, that's all.
People (western fans to be accurate) misinterpret an interview she gave because of lacking japanese knowledge... she said in this interview that she uses eye glue and such things to make her eyes look bigger even in free time. I know that because someone on a big western fashion forum about Gyarus actually read this interview. She was so furious about people telling Kumi had plastic surgery and she isn't even a fan, that was funny back then! XD

Kumi was a really fat kid and she lost much weight as a teenager with the help of her boyfriend.
Her face became slimmer when she grew up, I think that's the only drastic change.

About the Gackt nose job thing:
I remember reading in his autobiography that he got into quite a few knife fights and motorbike accidents. It's highly likely his nose change is from reconstruction surgery. :)

Really? See I remember the moles thing, because she did have some awful ones that are obvious she had removed...at one point i did think that she just got skinnier...

but you know what...her being overweight as a kid really makes a lot of sense as to how her breasts are shaped now...not just their size...her breasts are really...oddly shaped.
