all that charting data is so sad for sifow, nothing charts :P

anyways, I've often heard speculation that a lot of non-mainstream music is sold in a way that it doesn't count towards oricon. thru various web-services & smaller record stores & post catalogues & in clubs. I wonder if there's any thruth to this?

Well she doesn't exactly have potential to sell so I think they focus on artists which are more likely to sell a lot. At least she did perform on rare occasions compared to artists who sell like her.

Also gals don't exactly have a great reputation so I think only gals would purchase sifow's stuff.

True, stores need a license from Oricon so stuff can be counted on oricon i herd.

sifow COULD be selling DECENTLY but her sales are just not counted.

Her albums that charted are most likely the few copies that sold in big stores like HMV, Tower records etc, and those stores don't carry many copies of her stuff. I was told from a member that when he went in CD shops, most of them didnt carry sifow's stuff and those that did, only carried one of each release.

Well I've heard from my friend that even artists like Hitomi Shimatani also have that problem. Like they don't stock singles in CD shops. I guess only the largest stores do carry CDs of artists which are not huge because small ones aren't willing to take the risk. It's a shame really but with a small fanbase I guess it's not like they can do much or even care that much. I think they should try something like a CD signing event though.

^ That sucks, though. I really like her and that failed to chart thing is a sad. :(

does cdjapan counts in oricon? 'cause I know that when you buy on yesasia she has the money but it doesn't count in oricon chart :(

they should keep more stuff of sifow..but they probably don't want to take the risk of loosing money...

Yeah, all of those "failed to charts" are pretty depressing... I wish Avex would do SOMETHING to promote her... I just don't understand why they have a contract with her if they're not going to DO anything with it and try to cash in on her? What's in it for them?

Well probably her fanbase is enough to cover the costs and they know that sifow doesn't have much potential through promotion due to her gal image.

Well sifow would say that one of the reasons why she created her company was because she realised that people had a bad image of her. I'm not exactly an expert into this but I do believe the general consensus is that gals are superficial girls who drop out of school and some become escorts, etc. Anyway the genre also is outdated in Japan so that also isn't helpful.

I'm not an expert me too but from everything I read this is what I know

gyarus have a bad reputation
even if now they are different
the fact is that when it started, some gyarus where doing escort, prostitution..things like that to buy clothes etc..
even if it was a minority of gyarus, people thought that they were all like that
they don't go to really go to school
they want to have fun in life, and people think that they are superficial


even if today gyarus totally changed the reputation is still there, following them
and this is why Sifow started Gal Revolution, to make realise people that gyarus aren't what they think now

Right, gyaru is a subculture seen in general as in conflict with traditional Japanese mores because gyaru don't necessarily want to go to college, get a job and then become a normal housewife.

Unless there's some kind of GAL popularity comeback, sifow isn't going to chart anytime soon.

But its good to see that sifow is surprising many business men and women by becoming a smart, VERY successful person and is a person of the Gyaru style. I bet she pwns heaps of those business men in conferences and they are like "Damn..that hot chick is right... work that mini skirt!!"

i admire for sifow becoming basically a self made millionaire by the young age of 21. She made about $750 000.000 or something in profit the first financial year of REVROSSA CLARITY's opening. I wish i was one of those little kiddies in China making sifow's clothes :(

Okay so..I just listened to Love Spell all the way through.

AND I FRIGGIN LOVE IT!

I liked Clarity, but I felt some of the tracks were kinda just filler crap, whereas with Love Spell I love almost every single track (almost all tracks on iTunes have 4/5 stars or more, whereas with Clarity some have 2-3 stars).

I don't feel like giving a detailed review right now, but I just basically wanted to say I think Love Spell is definitely a lot better and it shows growth in sifow, and makes me excited for a new single.

I didn't like CLARITY either. But i loved & YOU REVOLUTION xD

making money off retailing fashion is very profitable in Japan. that's why everyone & their mama has chlothing/fashion lines for sale in Japan.

I know atleast Ayu, hitomi & sifow have clothing/fashion/whatever lines.

I know these days plenty of celebs in the west have their own clothing lines & parfumes, but the trend definitely started in Japan.

Ayumi? I thought MTRLG was just something Ayumi promoted/designed some outfits for, but not her's.

I thought DPI is the resolution of the pic? My scanner only scans at 150 DPI or 300DPI though LOL.

Wasn't it announced in December 06 there would be a Spring single in 07 (Carat). There's been no such announcement yet. However, we weren't aware she'd recorded Carat until she mentioned in her brog.

Well, it all starts back when the Gal/Gyaru styles frist came out.

They were dark. Like, the colour of chocolate bars. They were crazy, like they were a few fries short of a Happy Meal. And most of all, they were different.

The Japanese see the ideal woman as having pale skin, and being well mannered. These girls were not.

I read somewhere, that these girls just wanted to rebel. Stop living the way society wanted them to, and just do what they want.

The Japanese media started running stories about these girls being *****s and what not, as there were cases of it.

Even to this day, when the tan has been lightened, and the personalities toned down, they still have a bad rep. Flip through EGG magazine, pretty much the Gal Bible. One of the oldest Gal magazines, if not the oldest. Anyways, in pretty much every issue, they talk about things like how to give *******s, and other sexual things.

On top of that Gals were known to drop out of high school and/or run away from home. This happens a lot with Manba, as seen in a semi-recent video, chronicling the lives of Angeleek, the most respected Gal Circle.

Was it Buriteri who started the Gonguro trend? I've read it said much yet can find little info on her? All I know is whoever she was has done a full 360 and is now Uber pale :S

You know, I was wondering... Does anyone know anything about sifow's parents or family? Like, what did/do they do for a living? How did sifow get interested in music? Were/are her parents supportive of her business/music career? I realized I don't really know a whole lot about sifow other than what's on her last.fm bio and whatnot and was just curious if anyone knew some not-so-well-known stuff about her. :)

Okay so, in case anyone missed it, a week or so ago in sifow's Brog, she posted some gorgeous pictures of her in a BEAUTIFUL kimono! I don't know what the occasion was (she's already past the age of 20, so it wasn't the coming of age ceremony even though that is in January... unless she went to support some of her friends or something and just felt like dressing up too), but regardless the occasion (I wish I could read and understand Japanese so I'd KNOW), she looks amazing!

um well~ all i know is that sifow saved up like $10 000 from her part time job when she was at school and asked her parents for another $10 000 to help start up her company, which was her indie CD's. I think according to her official profile on her website, her first CD was ABBA. So yeah, her parents helped with the GAL revolution financially when it first started, which is all i know about them lol, i might study the GAL REVO manga tonight and see if i can get anything out of it :P. Her Mum is probably hot too.

MAKI OGURO IS SUPER FAMOUS!!! She is the singer of ANATA DAKE MITSUMETERU of SLAM DUNK ANIME! She make back vocal of many Being Giza Artists (you know Being was the most successfull label in the 90s?), she was a close friend of ZARD and went to her funeral, Maki Oguro was Hidetoshi Nakata's ex girlfriend etc ^^

Anyway tomorrow I will go to Shibuya 109, I need to buy the outfits for my first concert and my friend told me I can find what I need at cheap there ^^

Naaah, she was going somewhere. There were two other pictures with her and a bunch of other regular (non-gyaru) girls in kimono at whatever event/occasion she was going to.
