Anyone play an instrument?
 

Seeing as this is a forum for a singer with fans who listen to all kinds of artists and types of music I was wondering...anyone play an instrument? Casually or whatever?

I know a bit of classical guitar and am getting my new electric soon :P :

I want to learn Bass later on this year, I was going to start with it, but apparently it's easier to learn this and then pick it up.

Oh yeah I am teaching myself violin too :P (I have a lot of spare time...:innocent)

I wanted to play an instrument in school so bad but my Mother wouldn't let me, I didn't get to do most of the stuff I wanted to do in school like Gymnastics or play an instrument. I always wanted to play either the Violin or the flute. Those ones really stuck out to me. And I'm also reading La Corda D'oro and it makes me wish I did play one of them ; ;

Lol i came last in music actually...

I got 1/10 for playing the drums. My hands and legs just don't sync.
Guitars i also got 1/10. Damn too difficult for me lol.
Pianos/keyboards were much easier 10/10.

But i sucked with practical subjects from th start anyways, theory based lessons FTW :P!

But after those music lessons at school i don't play instruments anymore besides the rare occasions i feel like playing the ode to joy on the keyboarding at home XD!!

It is never too late! I am 18 now and I have only just started learning different things. An instrument can mean so many things to the person who plays it, IMO it's totally worth learning something on your own accord.


KuroixShiroi_Namida, you got to play these instruments in school?! Lucky, we did all theory based stuff, then at the very end of the term we would have to do a keyboard composition or sing something. Me and my friend did a rip of cover of Eminem's "The Real Slim Shady" :lech

I've played the flute for eleven years, and I can sort of play the piano. I've also tinkered around with the oboe, recorder, and piccolo.

i was an awesome viola player for 5 years, lost interest in it my final year and quit. In primary school i was compared to high school students :heart. Viola teacher was an ass hole anyway. Now in music, i focus on music composition and writing.

I can play the flute. Used to be pretty good at it but now I'm extremely rusty. Haven't played it in a long while. Nowadays I usually fiddle around with my friend's electric guitar and try to make some sense of it. Haha, if I'm lucky I can get a few notes and a chord or two down.

I can play the Alto Saxphone, I've been playing for about three years. I'm pretty good, I can hit the hit the high notes pretty easily.

I used to play the violin :)

ive played piano for almost a year now, but people say i sound like i've played for years. At my last recital people were shocked to find out that i'd only been playing for 9 months.

I played the flute and piccolo for six years, but haven't touched either much since I graduated from high school. I wasn't in any kind of band during college either. I can still play though if the urge ever hits. :) I was always really good at it too and while I may be a bit rusty nowadays, I can always polish up my skills when neccesary. :D

I've been playing the clarinet for over 7 years. (First chair this year, haha!) I don't know if I'll continue to play it after high school, though. [shrugs]

i play piano. i wanna play guitar. i TRIED learning violin (like, at 4 years old?) never worked out. don't know why =\

I played keyboard/piano a few years ago for a little while, but now I'm playing Bass and I love it. :]

I can play Bass guitar and guitar, and also piano. I also played Violin for three years as well, and bassoon for four.

Woooo clarinet! I played plarinet through jr high and high school, as well as the bassoon for a year. I also took piano lessons for 6 years. Now I don't pay any instruments, but I remember how to read music so I can pick up most instruments... except drums. My boyfriend's the drummer, I'm definitly not!

I played flute when I was in middle school and piano for a while in high school.

I can play the Steel Pans - I have learned to play the Sitar and the Guitar

I used to take piano lessons and occasionally sit and play and figure out melodies, but that's about it.

I played trumpet for four years, piano for five and guitar hero guitar for a few months. :)

Piano. I'm okay, I should practice. It's been awhile.

I played Piano & Violin before i moved here to Canada
& now i just play the flute. I still remember how to play the piano & violin though ;)

I play on the piano for 9 years... Learned DEAREST on the piano and now I will look for sheet: Together When and JEWEL... I love to play anime and Japanish song, but I also play Beethoven and Mozart... I love playing...!!!

I play some piano and I've been playing flute since I was 11! :laugh But I play more piano now! XD I used to play violin when I was little. :)

I play the piano, but since I've been away at school and there's no piano around here I haven't played in a while.

Does singing in the shower and in my car count as playing a musical instrument?! lol

Nah, I love to sing, but I get nervous in front of people now. I sang in my church and school choruses for years, but that was before I decided that hundreds of people staring at me while I sang wasn't my idea of a good time, and the mere idea now reduces me to a fetal position in the corner. lol

I played guitar for a very short period of time, and I can play bits and pieces of Tori Amos songs on piano, lol.

well I can play the piano, I want to learn how to play the guitar but my mom won't let me -_-' because she doesn't think I'm serious about learning to play another instrument.

Alto Sax for 6 years~ Only problem is I can't read rhythms to save my life ^^;; I have to hear them, or no dice

I play the trumpet for 3 years already. Before that I played the tuba for a year. And I'm really serious about continuing trumpet as a profession... I just bought a mouthpiece today... cost S$145.

i played violin for about 5 years, an im currently in orchestra.
i played piano when i was little, but i quit. now im tryin 2 teach myself piano again, so i can play these popular songs xD

I've been playing the e-Bass guitar for just about 15 years now and e-guitar for about 11.
I can play some drums and I'm a killer tambourine player!....I just kill it! :P

Piano, and - a long, long time ago - the clarinet.

I used to play the clarinet and saxophone.
Now I play the trumpet, which I like the most.

I used to play violin and piano, and in school I played flute!
But I didn't have time to practice as much as I should, so I quit.
But now I focus on singing and songwriting. ^^

^ so how's the singing and songwriting going so far?
I think it's great when you can write lyrics, I wish could write something..

I play clarinet. I've been playing for 4 years. I play mostly in band class, but I can play other stuff that isn't peices written for a concert band. Like Hope Or Pain, Walking Proud, the Mario Bros. Theme, Colours of the Rainbow, Hikari (of Kingdom Hearts fame), and CaramellDansen. (XD)

I dabble on piano. I've never had a lesson, and I have no idea what the correct hand position is. I just put my hands wherever convinient. When I get bored, I'll play a song I like from my iPod and figure out how to play it on the keyboard I have in my room. At which point I can transpose it and play it on my clarinet. (thats how I can play the random stuff mentioned above) Your mind is screaming the words "BAND GEEK!!!!!", isn't it?... I thought so...

I'm learning melophone, but I suck at it. (I suck at all brass instruments) fyi, melophone is the same as a french horn (as in, it sounds the same) but its shaped more like a trumpet for marching. (although its significantly larger than a trumpet)

On that note (lol, some pun intended), I did marching band this past year, and I'll do it again next year. I intend to do it every year of high school.

I dabble on flute/piccolo. Whenever one of my freinds let me play their flute, I always try to play something, but I'm really bad at it. I can play, maybe 10 notes, and they're not even consecutive. That's why I learned the piccolo solo from last year's feild show on clarinet.

So despite everything I just said, I really only play clarinet...

Right now, after Trumpet... I've self-taught myself A LITTLE on how to play Marimba and suspended cymbal lol.

I was learning how to play guitar but had to stop.

I've wanted to learn how to play the flute for quite sometime too...

I play acousitc guitar, my fingers are too fat to play electric xD(and i prefer the sound of an acoustic one), im probably beginning to learn (E-)Bass soon

I taught myself how to play the guitar and piano. I been playing the piano for 10 years and I recently like 3 years ago started with the guitar.

I played piano a long time ago, but then I gave up, lol. *miss those days*.

i wanted to be a violinist or a drummer but my father wont let...
