Which single song best corresponds with its cover?
 

The title is pretty self-explainatory. ;)

Out of all of Ayumi's singles, which song (that was featured as a single) best corresponds with its cover? The songs you may use are songs that were used ONLY for the single! Let me clear that up: Do not pick any B-sides (i.e. Beautiful Fighters or Will) or remixes/recycled songs (i.e. Secret). This also excludes teens from the Startin'/Born To Be... single.

Basically it means that the only song you can pick for the evolution single is evolution, you know? However, you may choose Bold & Delicious AND/OR Pride for said single.

Make sense? :P

But about singles...humm it's a bit hard. Anyway, I choose:

The cover is really bright and glittering. Lot of colors and lights.

I personally think Fairyland and Glitter. I think the covers best correspond with the songs. Though I do think that the Heaven cover represents the song well. :D

But the perfectest is probably Daybreak. Literally, the day was breaking. :laugh

I'd say glitter/fated, fairyland, CAROLS (I think the video was originally supposed to feature her on the swing singing), forgiveness, voyage, Endless sorrow and M.

I think the vogue/Far away/SEASONS covers represent the songs very well.

I think Daybreak and Voyage pretty much define each other when it comes to their songs and cover photos.

Daybreak - the clouds with the glare of the sun on them could remind someone of 'daybreak' as the song and title suggest.

Voyage - The way Ayu is standing in the middle of a forest with a white horse can really spark someone's imagination...it looks so adventurous (or in other words that she is on a mission or 'voyage' to a far away place).

Despite the fact that Talkin' 2 myself's cover looked more like a fashion magazine, I think it portrayed the attitude of the song well.

Well, Surreal, it practically was taken from the PV. And audience, Fairyland, Endless Sorrow, Heaven, and probably something I can't think of.

You are correct. If you were to watch the CAROLS making-of, it shows a scene where she is on a swing. :)

I think most of her recent summer singles work well (BLUE BIRD, glitter, fairyland). I agree with all of yours also, along with No way to say. :)

I would say Endless Sorrow, Whatever (maybe?), Free and Easy, and I don't know, but those are my guesses.

I've always felt that the 'Endless Sorrow' cover represents the song well.

Well a lot of her singles do correspond with the songs pretty well... and sorry to be off topic but does anyone know why the swing scene was cut from the CAROLS PV in the end? I thought it looked really beautiful and cool with the camera effects.

I remember waiting anxiously to go home from 6th grade to see what the Endless Sorrow cover was going to be (it was supposed to be revealed that day). I was so excited and I couldn't stop thinking up different covers in my head! When I got home and saw the actual cover, I was surprised because it was nothing like I had thought, and yet it was perfect.

So to me, Endless Sorrow.

Also Evolution and M. She had the most awesome single covers back then. :)

I think "BLUE BIRD"'s cover is very true to the feel of the song as well. Album-wise, "I am..." has a very ethereal, wistful feel to it and I think it corresponds well with the overall message of the album.

maybe the director after the edition thought that CAROLS looks better with a nocturne atmosphere, and that swing day scene don't fix with the others shots...OR...maybe that movie roll got damaged.

they hit the nail on the head, IMO. :D

I really like this idea for the topic but its worth pointing out that Ayu doesn't always convey the imagery for the a-side on the cover every single time. Sometimes its conveying something else or another track on the single. Just like in her PVs. I also think, despite it being Ayu and for all her love of symbolism and allegory, she sometimes has no connection to anything and goes for a great asthetic. Such as the B&D covers or Fairyland, for example.

I think the best expression of the a-side on a single in image form is probably NEVER EVER.

Poker Face (ayu's face is solemn and emotionless)
Far away (ayu is standing on a deck? and she's looking into the distance)
Audience (there's an audience of ayus)
Surreal (it portrays ayu as a catlike character in a surrealistic way)
Endless Sorrow (ayu is sitting on a ledge by herself in a sad way)
Daybreak (the background is of "daybreak")
Heaven (ayu is looking up into heaven)
