do you infect your friends with J-pop virus?
well
i do the first time i met j-pop i went crazy and keep promoting to my frenz victim 1: Z-san i know he likes cutie girl very much, and recommend her bout ai otsuka he instantly love her and went crazy for her too... now, i fell quite descent looking at ai and now its time for him to recommend her new song to me... he loves sakurambo VERY VERY MUCh... and also DAISUKI DAYO victim 2: C-chan i always ask her to help me to download some songs and burned it to the cd once i told her to download namie amuro's... and she loved it too~~ and one time she keeps listening to BABY DONT CRY... |
Oh...My friend Myla from like 4 years ago, went to High School with me this year, and we were on the subject of music and I told her what I like a lot, and she asked me for some...and of course my all time favorite had to have a cd made, NAMIE AMURO!!!
So I put 4 songs from PLAY, and the first song to get played was Hide & Seek, and she FELL IN LOVE WITH IT!!!...she's been asking me for the DVD, and the TOUR and I think she'll fall in love with Namie more than I have. |
well, i only "infected" to 3 friends XDDD
|
no. they think "chineeze songs r werd" :rolleyes
|
Tried to, but my friends don't like it, one of them even says "Ching Chang Chong" to tease me about it.... Instant A Star GCSE level in Japanese!.... Not.
|
hahaha well all my friends dond like the asian music! Because they cant understand the lyrics ! XDD Only 3 friends like Every Little Thing, BoA,Namie and Ayu!
|
I got two of my friends into J-pop. I got my best friend into Ayu and brought her MY STORY for her birthday and my second best friend I introduce to bands and artists all the while when I discover them.
|

I do try to infect some friends with Jpop virus, particularly get them interested in my fave artists. I do my friends 'favors' by recommending them songs of the genre they'd like. I wonder if I annoy them for doing that. (or being too excited while doing that)
My first victim is my college friend who listened to JEWEL and loved it immediately. Another friend listened to Baby dont cry by Namie and told me she loved it. Please teach me how to infect people with the Jpop virus! I desperately need more people loving Jpop where I'm at! |
YES! I got my 33 yr old sister, my niece, and my mom to like Ayumi and Koda. Im gonna get my grandma to like Yuna Ito watch me!
|
ugh, well, I'm actually GLAD that I'm the only J-Pop fan. It's more special, I think. Like, if I ever saw another J-pop obsessed fan at my school, I'd think it was cool for a few minutes, then I'd hate them for "stealing my interest". :laugh

And I infected only 1 friend, and he's my best friend ever so I don't mind (he loves Ayu the most like me,but he still doesn't know how other artists are also awesome). I just say "Let's keep Jpop for ourselves!!!"----->even if it is really cruel and selfish :luv2 |
LOL I only got one of my friends into it. Since then, she loves J-music.
|
People are immunized to it, where I live.
|
LOL I infected my mother xD! She actually liked Ayu and Namie :D
|
^ hey thats the with my mom ^^ She likes Namie, ayumi, and Utada, I think Namie is her favorite, since she has most of her songs in her i-Pod ^^
|
i wouldn't even bother mentioning japanese music or anything asian to my friends. they like the american rap songs, like lil' mamma, chris brown, etc..so i'm all alone. :( but it's all good, lol.
|
I managed to infect one friend(though there was anime involved) and my little brother (We shared an iTunes till I got a bigger iPod than him, of course I had control of it). My grandmother says she likes it, but whether that's true or not I don't know. My best friend actually got ME into it, and then I got to like it more than her XD
Though it's hard to get people to like Japanese music... My mom hates it, "Chingy Cho Music" as she calls it. I have friends who hate it too, not that that stops me from playing it when they're over... XD |
I don't think I've infected anyone. My friends all have very strong opinions about their music.
On the plus side, I've made them aware that such music exist. One step at a time, right? |

I kinda infected my sister though. And my mom thinks Koda is pretty. :D |

My dad thinks Koda is pretty, but it's because her boobs hang out every time he sees her. It's strange.
My brother and my parents both seem to like Ayu, although ELT is a bit of a strange music-choice for me to them.. and my brother is obsessed with remixes. |
Most of my friends have a built in immunity to J-pop.

^ Me niether, but like you said, the instant image they get is Morning Musume, crazy colors, wacky music and all.

Well, there are several reasons why people mock japanese music.
-The most ignorant people who have absolutely no clue, associate the word "japanese music" with old traditional chinese music, and even whistle something they've listened in some traditional tune, from some cartton or movie that joked with it. The fairly ignorant people associate japanese music with enka. -Some people associate japanese music with otakus -crazed nerd obsessive anime fanboys- who live entirely for cosplaying and swear they're truly Shinji Hikari from Evangelion, so they think: "ridiculous people => ridiculous music" -some people prefer their local music, and can't understand why people will look for stuff they can't even understand -The people who can actually go through all of those barriers face yet another one: associating japanese music entirely to ai otsuka and morning musume, a.k.a - Cute, nasal, annoying music for female children. |
Imagine the entire American music industry being boiled down to 50 cent or something :dead2
It's odd to me why people judge so quickly, but oh well. I think you lose out on a lot if you limit yourself.. and that goes both ways, like the people here who only listen to J-pop. |

However, japanese music is unknown to most, so I believe it's normal for the human behavior to not be so tolerant for things you hardly know much. A great example is in this forum actually. Some people here can't understand why others reject japanese music, but they can't see the richness there is in american music, other than the rap breakout that is happening now. |

There' a down side of not understanding the lyrics of songs we listen to, but it's a chance for the music itself and the emotion in it to touch our hearts. =)
|
I have infected my mom :D
Now, she likes Ayu. She watches AT05 with me, and listens to Ayu in the car! |
My firends are like die hard MCR fans, me and my friend were taking it in turns to put on music and later she says to someone else, "OMG it's horrible, it's like pop music." Well she listens to High School Musical as well so that's kind of well hypocrytical.
