I got the DVD yesterday!!!! Amazing!!!!! I SOO THINK THAT AYU SHOULD GET # 1!!! AMAZING DVD!!! But #2 is still amazing!!!! GO AYU!!!

It doesn't surprise me. Although not well known to western fans, Kuwata Keisuke is extremely popular and it's been awhile since he has released a solo concert on DVD I think. Even Ayu is a fan of his, so I doubt she minds. :)

Not that I care about rankings, but 'losing' #1 to Kuwata Keisuke is quite honourable. He's awesome, and he's been around for a long time!! Even Ayu's a fan of him!

Probably it #2. I don't think it's a big deal anyway since she didn't have a streak going on anyways.

recently all the competitors ayu r facing are those really famous and popular artists...tts why she lost to exile,kobukuro and now kuwata keisuke...and surprisinly tohoshinki's dvd released on the same week too...all the big stars are on the chart to fight with ayu! LOL

Ayu's a fan of Kuwata Keisuke too! So maybe even she's contributing to his CD+DVD sales! Haha! (Refer to the Voyage 2002 Music Station Episode when she freaks out. That's Kuwata Keisuke)

But yup, he's been in the industry for an ultra long period of time as compared to Ayu, so maybe it's only fair? But heck, Ayu still ranks top for DVD sales this week! Since he's is a CD+DVD. It's rather weird to be pitting them against each other since CD+DVDs (logically speaking) OBVIOUSLY sell more than solely DVDs.

The reasoning for the show being the way it was seemed pretty good though.

I mean, if you had thousands of fans overseas that you wanted to see certain elements of a live, I'm sure you'd redo them at your WORLD/ASIA TOUR..

Hmmm... Well, no actually.. Japan has seen those stuff already. For them that it's an Asia Tour might be exciting but it's nothing to them. The show we see on DVD is a performance in Japan and not outside. She could've at least done something new while she was in Japan and indeed as you said leave the old recycled stuff for Asia, because outside Japan they're already wetting themselves she's even comming there.

Btw... is it true it fell down to #4? Because I want to know what the sales are to be honest

...I didn't quite like that they interdispersed the documentary among the actual live concert. I also didn't like that they re-mastered the audio in the manner that they did...it made the entire live look lip-synched. It was just...weird.

I don't think they did much to remaster the audio...

gosh poor ayu. i can't believe her dvd sales are always so low...

But her concerts sell! :D That's the more important factor. One concert ticket = 1 DVD and perhaps even more!

Well, for the NUMEROUS fans who have already seen her concert, getting her concert DVD is just kind of like a bonus for collection? Yup, if you've seen it, you'll probably remember it. I guess the bulk of them are fans, but they're probably civic-minded enough to not splurge excessively on Ayu items.

Don't forget the goods and the stuff that they buy too! That accounts for A LOT of the revenue. DVDs are obviously more expensive. So if you really factor in the costs, that would cost a lot! It's good though to release DVDs, because fans who haven't managed to watch the concert can watch it, and well, the smaller pool of die-hard Ayu fans can collect the DVDs!

And since it's an ASIA TOUR, I'm pretty sure it'll sell better overseas too like Hong Kong, Taiwan and China! I think overseas fans tend to value and treasure Ayu items more than the Japanese do. But I guess absence makes the heart grow fonder. It's because her overseas fans aren't in direct contact with her that perhaps they are more attached to Ayu items rather than the Japanese, who would look upon Ayu as less "exclusive" than her overseas fans, explaining perhaps the lower sales of her DVD. It has always been the case anyway.

I don't really consider those sales that bad at all. Just compare it with other DVD released by Ayu and you'll see. It looks like it will end with similiar sales with AT2006 maybe, or little lower ^^

She has never sold a DVD more than 150k copies, not even during her peak. (Please do correct if I am wrong.)

It's mainly because ayu is one of the artists that has a lot of dates in huge arenas so most of the fans/people who would buy the DVD watched this concert live, most of the others perform in small halls that can contain 1500-2500 people ^-^.

The total sales of the DVDs aren't low though either for a DVD.

namie's 1st week sales even higher than ayu.....

I think it's not the reason, many artist play in big arena or dome (some Johnny's) and sells more than ayu.

Hmm...I don't think Ayu did too much promoting for the DVD but 50K for its 1st week is still good. Next week, her remix albums are debuting and I just excited to see how that will sale. :yes

saw the 1st week sale, i thought remix album will sell as low as this DVD

Ayu's last few dvd's debuted with 30-40k. This is higher than that. Dunno what crack all y'all have been smoking.

AT06 debuted with around 1,000 - 2,000 more than AT07..

But I guess Kuwata Keisuke's mammoth release had people crazy. XD

As long as it sells as close to the AT06 one there is nothing to worry about. And well Namie doesn't have as many concert DVDs as Ayu does, as far as I know..

It's nice to have 46,512 in the first week which is not far from AT06.
It even did better than A museum, hope AT07 can sell more than 100K!

Yes, i agree, you make great sense here. Well, japanese fans always get to see ayu and this has been going on for close to ten years. Many had already seen her live at least a few times so i guess only fervent supporters will go an extra step in purchasing her DVDs. And yea, probably concert dvds have a higher chance of selling better in overseas as they ''cherish'' ayu more since ayu doesn't visit her overseas fans that often compared to japanese counterparts.

the number looks great...i think if the sales would be better if the cover has some "ayu" on it...
