Ayu - unfair acting on AT 07
I was watching the doc from AT07 And I am so in shock! Midoring and Chisa gotta learn dancing on that material rope (like on CDL 07-08). They do it in pain and tears...I think it coast them much...And when they gotta learn this Ayu watch this and say she dont like this...She tells Midoring and Chisa to learn a new choreography with rings! Girls was so angry sad and they cry....Ayu didnt say it to them personality she ask Peco to do this...Ayu act so unfair to girls...they hard work to make a choreography and at least Ayu say she don't like it....
I think she act like a Holy Cow or something |
Well, you know how we girls are...
Sometimes we can be mean to eachother :yes And well, just because Ayu is famous this whole thing just gets like "OMG! she did this..." But you know, she's also a person ... And trust me, I think I would've done the same. But it's Ayu's show, so... :innocent *throws paper away* |
Also Ayu even admitted back during Dome Tour, I believe, that she's hard on her dancers so I'm not too surprised.
|
yeah what this about...if she tought it don´t fit gosh the it doesn´t....do a new one...thats what the rehersales are for....they have month of practice...
|
ayu did that??!!! I love her alot.. But she's too perfectionist sometimes... I'll go thinking, "why does everyone have to live up to your high expectations? It's also luck that brings u where now, don't be too much!!" I thought of this of about 5 seconds and after that I liked her back again... haha
|
I actually think it's important that she's hard on them! Afterall, it's a "ayumi hamasaki" show. People come with high expectations! If it was any other artiste, it wouldn't matter that much. But this is Ayu you're talking about. I don't really see a problem with it. She's always maintained high standards, this isn't any different.
|
It's Ayu's show. If she wants to change something, let her. In the end, she's the one signing off on their paychecks.
|
are you sure that's the reason why she changed it? coz I dunno Japanese...if somebody that knows Japanese can confirm this, that would be great. :)

Her show, her rules :P
|
Maybe it looked really bad and she realized that they wouldn't get it working properly on time or that it could go wrong during the concert.

It's not as if she told them a week before the first performance. Ayu expects perfection especially in huge tour like this. If something's obviously not gonna work, there's no sense in letting it go on. Plus, I'd hardly call it destroying their hard work. They've been with Ayu for a while, so if they didn't like how she ran things, they could've left a long time ago.
I admit, I like the hoops better than I probably would've liked the ribbons :/ |
If something looks wrong or does not get a move on quickly then whoever is in charge has to take the bull by the horn and make immediate changes. This happens in productions and even film making [Its happening with me a lot with doing my Media filming project]
Basically its her tour, Everyone is going to see her so she has to put her foot down to make sure everything happens properly |
At the end of the day its the 'ayumi hamasaki ASIA TOUR' not 'Chisa and Midoring ASIA TOUR'. Ok maybe ayu could have considered using the idea but obviously she had something else in mind. Besides, if Peco just decided to take it on herself to arrange it she should have gone through ayu first as its her show.
It wasn't a total lost tho, they got to do it at CDL07-08 :P |
since im not fluent in japanese i dont know for sure but from the CDL 06-07 documentary video, it looked like subaru got some lip from ayu for something he did. she may be the nicest person in the world but when you're in charge you have to do things that you dont like to do. ayu probably did not want to waste all of midoring and chisa's efforts and get them angry, but if she saw something she didnt like its ultimately her call to take it out or not.
plus it couldnt have been that serious. midoring and chisa have been part of ayu's dance team for a long time now and still are after CDL 07-08 |

AyuŽs the star, she calls the shots. whenever the dancers pay Ayu to do her job, IŽd worry about that. |
I just feel like they are just under a lot of pressure. And I'm sure there are a lot more behind scene stuff that we do not get to see. And yeah I totally agree that it's ayu's show and I'm sure all the dancers who has worked with her knows that she is very critical on things!! Plus she did say on her Dome tour that she is very hard on her dancers and staff but at the same time she feels like she is a mom to them. Wondering if they are ok? if she is too hard on them. But it's all for the greater good!
|
well in my dance classes happended similar things 9_9 ...you work so much in a coreography... and when everything was all right the teachers say that was "horrible, borring... etc" and obviously everybody stared to cry -_- ... so in a big show like Ayu's concerts is normal that thinks like those happened...
I haven't seen that part of the documentary, so I can't say if Ayu was right or wrong, I'm only sayin' that this kind of things are more usual that you think ^^ |
It is really what anyone would go through if you were working for one of the biggest artists in Asia. ^^

Does anyone even know if it was Ayu who gave the final word and said: "Boo, you guys sucked?" :|

ayu just been proffesional, I don't think that she's the only artist to have high demands from her dancers in her show, of course it's sometimes not so nice but it's better for the show that ayu will act like that, if she wouldn't the show would look like an amature's show.
|
I echo what most people wrote here. She said that if she were the viewer, she wouldn't be satisfied by that performance. If I'm not wrong, she also said that they could try it again next year, if they practice more. I'll have to watch that part again.
|
First of all, I would say, don't jump to conclusions. Unless someone here knows what was actually being said, it's easy to misconstrue things.
It's worth noting that not only might the ropes not have fit in, but they were also dangerous. One small slip up and... yeah. On another note, it is Ayu's tour and if she doesn't think something fits, then it's her decision to make ... along with other people's I'm sure. When you're in charge, you're gonna have to make tough decisions, and you can't just roll with something you're not comfortable with. And honestly, I prefer the rings. |
I think it might be better if the ropes are left for professionals to do it. It is very dangerous especially when you're so high up and there is no place for safety belt or whatever to hook on to like the hoops...and plus they still need to perform after...what if something bad happens. I rather see them wait and practice longer on it than having greater risk of getting injured. In the 10th anniversary cdl, the rope part was done by someone else not the usual dancers I recognize...and she looked pretty professional...I thought that was a smart choice.
|
I'm not really shocked if she did that
That shows her as a perfectionist artist u know really there are some artist who doesnt care about anything else she just make sure the stage finished, rehearse, then live and I personally would have been like ayu if I myself was a singer LOL u have to comment on something whether its good or bad rite I mean, its your show, u have to give the best, not just a so-so things to show her dancers will understand it everytime u see ayu's making of video or documentary u can see that she's is really a perfrectionist and professional person u see in glitter/fated, she even 'direct' some scenes and in talkin' 2 myself, she 'teach' some dance moves in BoCDL, she really oversee her dancers work etc |
LOL if she was really harsh on the dancers, maybe they could also criticize ayu's vocals when she started training on stage? "c'mon ayu, with these crappy vocals, you won't really please the crowd. you can do better" :evillaugh
I do know the next day they would be looking for a new job though :laugh |
Actually, she did cancel the act, but then after she also cried (though seperately from the dancers) for the dancers. They were all emotional about it and the pressure. so please do not judge Ayu like that. She want it to be perfect for us and not put so mcuh stress on the dancers because what if they fall and hurt themselve during the concert? So Ayu also cry for them...
|
somethimes I think ayu's dancers keep changing is becoz she keep forcing them
lol maybe shu-ya got a special treat LOL |
huh, sif oui~ no pain no gain~
Being critical, strict and harsh might sound negative but it's all for the better result in the end. If no one pushes you to try do more than your 'limit' then how would you know that IS your limit? How would you improve without someone saying you're not doing good enough?? also, even if she cancelled the act, or ends up not liking it, they should know after being pushed so hard and working/training so hard to learn to do it properly, at least they know they've can do soemthing which they previously can NOT do, and perhaps even be happy that they got the chance to learn it .... it would feel real stink when they are told that but changes like these shouldn't be a suprise, honestly, it's the show biz~ as long as there is time, things like this can always happen~... ----------- --- well, hasn't Gomi been around since Dome Tour lol? That's longer than shuya right |
She's just being the boss. She's in charge, and real world is like that. My friend gets yelled at all the time at work, even though her boss is a family friend. It's sometimes hard to forget that yes, they're performers, but in the end, it's not a hobby, it's a job.

I think because they were trying learn it to no avail did she say, "do the rings instead". We have to figure that there are multiple shows to a tour, so they have to learn something they can execute all the time. In the end, they must have had enough time to do it at the end of the year, so they should be happy.
But if you're not hard on your workers, how do you expect them to work? You can see the comradery between Ayu and her dancers, so it shouldn't be a problem. There are things work related, and things that are more personal. |
I have a better resolution! Their fault for becoming dancers :laugh The life of a dancer is a looong and rigorous one :yes
|
ayu's just doing her job to make her show look perfect..
can't blame her~ |
I don't know japanese but there was the scene with her close up and she was crying, (i think) because maybe she heard about how they must have felt when they were asked to switch to rings. She really cares for them but its professional so... plus those rope thingies were really hard for them both.
Plus, the rings were cooler in my opinion, the rope things were a bit boring to watch |
Don't fret though..
After those two were kinda "..." with the whole fabric thing [which was over by June], Ayu rehired KAERU as part of her dance crew [she was the one in charge of the whole aerial act with the fabric, and was the one who demonstrated it at first]... And then KAERU did it at CDL07-08 after Together When... , so it's all good. XD |
No matter what kind of show is going on, you can't be a push-over when you're in charge.
Come on, imagine Ayumi being more lenient about choreography (or anything for that matter!). The dancers, backup singers, whoever, simply wouldn't care or give it their all. They'd get the vibe that Ayumi (or the leader of any project) obviously doesn't care if it's not a spectacular performance, therefore they'd figure they not bother. When you're in charge, you've got to take charge and sometimes be aggressive. ... Damn. I was going to say more and had a lot more to explain about this sort of thing, but now I forgot it all. *snaps fingers* Well, anyway, rehearsals aren't always fun and games. Especially for this kind of concert, hard work and some lip is most likely -- 99.9% likely -- going to be aroused. I'm sure what happens in most shows/concerts happened here -- they all had fun in the end and forgave any differences between one another. ANYWAY. I don't think this is something to worry about, like, if Ayumi's kind presence isn't real or not. ;) (Gee. I didn't realize how far I went on. Oh, well. :shrug) |
If she gives hard time to dancers to improve, we cannot see the great tour from ayu, right?
Don't forget, ayu also works so hard. |
I dont think she was wrong for cutting the rope thing...quite frankly, it wasn't looking so good....but also when Peco was talking to the dancers she mentioned it being really risky...so that probably had a lot to do with it.
|
i think all performers are like this, not just ayu. watching madonna's making of her confessions tour, i definitely felt hints of *****iness towards her back up singers! but as a top earning artist, you have to be a perfectionist to be a top earning artist. there isn't room for a bad job. i sympathize with the dancers and if i were them, i'd be pissed off too, but that is something that comes with their job and i'm sure they know better than anyone what to expect.
|
I didn't think it was *****y at all.
I thought it was very professional.. a lot could've gone wrong if they went ahead with it. :O |

If Ayu hadn't done it, someone else (producer) would have....she was doing her job, I would say.

meh, life is unfair sometimes. but her show, she's the boss xD
|
I respect ayu so much more for being perfectionist... This is she is the only artist who i buy original cd's and dvd's.
Maybe im too soft on those views though as i am perfectionist also hehe... i anger some of my friends alot by being like this - but in the end they are impressed at what they achieved and cannot believe they could do it. I get to see my friend so proud of themselves when i push them :) so i dont think you should be so harsh on ayu... It is performers who throw something together and say "thats good enough" that you should be hard on. Quote:

True, guys. Also, I think ayu is rather loyal to her cast. I mean, she's been using the same guitarist, bass player, back up singers and dancers for years. Many of them are pretty ugly looking, and her back up singer performances can be considered questionable by some, but ayu still firmly works with them. If she were the insensitive kind, I believe part of her team would already have changed over the years.
|
Well...I haven't watched the DVD yet since...I don't have it but seeing that people in Asia watches her concert DVDs they might expect the same quality in this concert. If it messes up then they get injured and people might start thinking that the concert is not what as good its supposed to be and they'll stop attending if she ever comes back.
And also take teachers for example, (well mine) the band teacher has to be the "wicked witch of the west" because she wants her students to play well. If the band teacher wasn't like that then the students don't learn and won't play well and they have to perform a lot. Well thats my opinion. ^^;; |
It's her concert, her rules, her choice.
Plus she's also probably thinking of the dancers safety, also if it's an Asia Tour she probably wanted the concert to look it's best. |
well... its a little bit mean to her dancer
i know ayu want sa "perfection" but i think ALL THE PROFESSIANALS are doing this kind of attitude (i'm not saying ayu has bad attitude) so as a dancer she has to do what her boss said even its hard the dancer has to know the risk at first since they signed it, so they have to accept it (i got a performing teacher and her attitude is like ayu too! the model, the attitude and her "perfectionist is totally like her!!) |
but we are thrilled by the dancers' performance on that rings..
both of them looked stunning!!! it's because of Ayu!! and of course their hardworks too :) |
it's work. no need to act "friendly" just because you "hang out" a lots with your dancers
|
I was a bit sad for the dancers, they practised real hard for the aerial dance.
|
i think shes mean and strict to ALL of her dancers :)
but it might be cuz of the short of female dancers, ayu made them to work harder...and its midori not midoring ^^ |
well it's her first ASIA TOUR, I guess she wants it to be perfect! lol
|
Oh, just a question. Does anyone actually have the clip so we can see it for ourselves?
|
You gotta download 1st disc of asia tour from JPS :D
|
well, i think is pretty acceptable as ayu is a professional artist and ... a perfectionist too.
yeah her concert = her rules, but wad i mean is that .. ayu and her team is always trying to give the BEST show for the audience ( and of course , her FANS like us :D ) well, i think the girls do understand her situation as well as ayu does too. and yeah.. at least ayu admitted in the documentaries .. ( consider apologize to the girls le bahh? ) |
yeah.. it's ayu's show. i dont think ayu would want any of her dancers to ruin her show. i am glad that her dancers do spent some fair shares of joys together. ayu is not totally bad. When it comes to fun, all are happy together. When it's work, ayu is the boss man...
to be nicely said, ayu wouldnt want her dancers to hurt themselves shld something happen to be blunt, ayu jus didnt want her dancers to ruin her show. HER show. it's jus how we look at it. and the hoops dance isnt that bad right? different methods with the same effect. so why grumble? :D |
actually I saw lotsa of times Ayumi being mean, in ntv 2004 report for example, she was mean cuz they brought her the wrong t-shirts!
ugh....on the one hand that;s okay, she's the boss, on the other....I guess it's just a trait of character maybe? she supposed to be bossy, everything must be ideal... |
Quote:

Well I think it is a little unfair, but if they were messing up big time, then it makes sense as to why she made a cut. :shrug
It would be terrible if they made an awkward (and not to mention noticeable) mistake, but I can see why you are a little offended. But you do what you gotta do, I guess lol. |
Well, it's not really unfair because both dancers really couldn't do the dance well..
IMO, they could've probably done it perfect maybe once out of twenty times.. It looked like they didn't have the strength to lift their bodies up.. |
she must doing that to make the performance as perfect as she can i guess...
Its a outside Japan Concert...must be good for the fan that watching her concert once in a lifetime..at stadium i mean not at home by DVD like me..>_< |
Frankly, what Ayu did was mild compared to how things go in show business. That's just how it works when you're putting on a show. Sometimes entire numbers will get cut the afternoon before the show opens. This means that some people might even lose their jobs if they only appear in that one number. It cold and tough, but that's just how it goes.
If things aren't coming together quickly and nicely enough, they have to be either changed or cut. Ayu could have simply removed Chisa and Midoring entirely from that part of the show, but she didn't. She had Peco give them something else to do, so they will at least still be on stage. At the end of the day, that's all a dancer can ask for. And the fact that Ayu went through Peco is a sheer matter of administration. Peco is the choreographer, which means the fabric routine was her responsibility--not Chisa and Midoring. Dancers are only pawns in show business. If Ayu went straight to the dancers, that would be like the general manager of a department store going to two clerks in the menswear department and telling them that their immediate boss (the menswear department manager) has to sell green socks instead of red socks. You don't do that--you work your way down through the bureaucracy, and Ayu is at the top of that. |
But I think team are deep friends - you can see this at concerts so there is no hard boss-emloyee relation
|
I agree with evolusean. I don't think it's unfair.
They signed up for the job, and it comes with it. Being a dancer is not easy, it's super hard work, and things like that have happened and will happen in the future also. |
Quote:
she's the boss, it's her show and if she doesn't like something she changes that, even if she has to be hard/mean/~or else~ to employees (especially if she's the producer of the whole thing... dunno if she is this time, but probably, yes) |
They don't work for nothing, they get to travel a lot for free and they get paid for what they do.
|
The fact that Ayu cried after that is evident that she is hurt too.
She did it to protect Chisa and Midori... and also of course to protect her own show. A good leader is hated (not that I'm saying that her dancers hate her...), the fact that what Ayu did actually pissed someone off just proves that she's an excellent leader, which is why her tours rock so much. |
While we're at it lets complain about each time she said she didn't like something. >.>
|
she's almost the executive producer, what do you expect? not defending ayu, but this is reality - you listen to the boss.
