I saw that too! The swings are nearly exactly the same. I also think the white outfit Ayu wears at the end is a bit like the pink outfit Nicole Kidman wears in the movie following the swing outfit.

Hmm...maybe she liked the style and ran with it? I actually like Ayu's outfit better, it's a little more...fluffy! xD <= I don't know how else to describe it really...^^;

The thing that jumped to my eyes was the swing. I never saw the movie, so when I saw a clip of it with Nicole Kidman on a swing, I instantly recognized the swing as identical to ayu's in her opening performance. It's a pretty unique swing, I didn't even think twice about it. From there I noticed their outfits looked pretty similar, with the hat and gold and all.

yep that's true... good observation guys reminds me like Moulin Rouge movie...

Well IMO most of the concert was Moulin Rouge inspired. The swing, the set, the costumes. The end of the concert is also Moulin Rouge inspired with the hearts in the back and the feathered costumes.

People shouldn't take it as copying, it's really just inspiration from the Moulin Rouge.

i think that kind of theme is so general...so we can't say she copy it...

Even though I saw "Moulin Rouge!" way before any pictures of Arena Tour 2007, I didn't notice the similarity in the swing scene! ^^ That'd be interesting to see Ayu sing "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend." :laugh

Raelian, after looking at your post, I never realised how much musical inspirations there were in her tours! The "Come What May" and "INSPIRE" outfit are certainly similar, as is the "Prima Donna" outfit/"HAPPY ENDING" outfit and the ballet after "Ill Muto"/"M."

Hmm... After seeing how similarities are found in "Moulin Rouge!" and "Phantom of the Opera," something tells me I'll expect a good answer from my submitted "I want to ask Ayu this!" question ("What musicals have you seen?"). That is, if it's even read. :P

Um, no one said she copied it, we just thought it was cool to see where she got the ideas from and to see her take on those famous scenes. No one yelled "waah she copied!" And if you don't see obvious similarity, you're in denial.

It's actually pretty cool for me to see the musical ideas. It's pretty obvious that she's taken ideas from the moulin rouge. Her arena tours always tend to be a little on the theatrical side.

I want a west-side story inspired one. :D

Perhaps she got some of the inspirations from there, but they are great! I'm glad that she got inspiration from Moulin Rouge coz it made her concert fantastic! Go Ayu!!

1) This isnt the 1st time she uses swings in her concert. refer to other concerts like arena tour 2002 and A museum.
2) ur thinking too much if u've watch all of ayu's concert u can see that she's been improving on her concerts costumes (sort of upgrading the costumes)

It's not that it's a swing, it's that it looks like ayu went out and bought the one used in Moulin Rouge :P They're identical. Then combined with the gold outfit and top hat, it's pretty similar.

You can't deny the INSPIRE outfit.. I mean, look at the head piece! It's the same.

Read through the thread next time. Do you really think those ideas popped into her head from nowhere? Everybody gets ideas from somewhere, she clearly got a lot of her concert ideas from musicals. They're always so theatrical. Like the kiss o'kill performance was clearly a reference to Phantom of the Opera. Just the beginning alone, then the capes.

And yea, I'd call the INSPIRE head piece near identical.

Ayu just got some inspiration from Moulin Rouge but Ayu gives it a whole different turn. Which is cool because you can't expect an artist, how great he/she is, to think of everthing her/himself.

interesting... never notice any of that... I think it's cool! n_n the moulin rouge costumes are also NOT original, they are inspire of dresses and costumes from that era so is all good. :D

I think Ayu tends to make things her own when she does draw inspiration from other places..

She has a unique Ayu-flair that she adds to the elements she does borrow from other sources.. :D

Well, AT08's End roll and HANABI also has that sort of theme too.

Since she started utilizing dancers [AT05] as "actors" in a sense... she's used that theme through each show.

Yeah, that girl and boy tries to hold hands but one of them just disappears...

you people are thinking way too much xD I just watch :yes and enjoy it. who cares if it's copied / inspired by other shows. it's enough as long as i enjoy it :D
