She is Robyn. The most killingest pop star on the planet. A pint-sized atom bomb dispensing wisdom in three-minute modernist pop bulletins on the post-adolescent condition. Robin Miriam Carlsson was born in Stockholm, Sweden and spent the first seven years of her life touring with her director father and actress mother in their Constructivist-inspired theatre company. At the age of 13 she was discovered by Swedish pop singer Meja when singing a sad, self-written song about her parents' divorce in a school workshop. Already exploding in Sweden, The UK, France and Australia, Robyn has set her sights on America and is planning a pop overthrow.
she will be releasing her newest, self-titled album in the US on April 29th, as well as her new single, "Who's That Girl," in the UK on April 28th.

Partino 18th April 2008 02:04 AM

yay ... I thought I might be the only one on this board liking here .. even though she's not as good looking as I am *cough*... she's still kicking bums ... ~~~~BUM LIKE YOU~~~~~ <_L_O_V_E__T_H_A_T__S_O_N_G_<

ayuholic 18th April 2008 02:17 AM

KaoriNeko 18th April 2008 02:26 AM

YES~! dokidokisuru, we always end up liking the same music. lol
Robyn is awesome. Simple as that. I'm really glad to have a great pop artist in the US now. FINALLY ~

(besides my Madge of course...)

spookshow 18th April 2008 11:51 AM

i luuuurve robyn! she's so funky! and this whole re-releasing of the Robyn album makes me love the songs even more! Fingers crossed that the US realises that this girl kicks rear-ends!

i'd list my favourite songs, but i'd be here all day i think. :)

oh oh! and has everyone heard her "message in a bottle" (cover of a The Police song) snippet on her myspace? *excited squeal* it sounds great! i love that song!

*sigh* if only she would tour australia (and not as some part of a music festival with other bands which i have no interest in)

Haha I looove Robyn, With Every Heartbeat got me addicted to her <33
Not sure about her eyebrows though :P

KaoriNeko 22nd April 2008 10:00 PM

Who's That Girl got me addicted. Robyn is such an amazing album. I love Curriculum Vitae, it makes me LOL every time.

drewbilation 22nd April 2008 10:59 PM

it was "With Every Heartbeat" for me, too. more specifically, it was Girls Aloud's cover version that got me interested in hearing the original (which I loved), and then that got me into Robyn.

Halla 22nd April 2008 10:59 PM

better late than never I guess, this album was out here in 2005 and I'm so over it already :D

it's a good album tho :yes

JUICYxJEWEL 23rd April 2008 04:50 PM

She is milking it for all it's worth LOL.

Does anyone know if the Scandinavian original had a different version of Bum Like You. I've heard people saying they prefer the original, but can find nothing about it.

And is 'Tomteverkstan' Bionic Woman?

mi|kshake 23rd April 2008 11:20 PM

I really like Who's That Girl!

mi|kshake~

Bionic Woman is the interlude that goes "goodevening passengers, this is your captain speaking, we're going down..." (or something like that) the perfect intro to Crash & Burn Girl -- i love that song!

I've had the album since 2005 too. She should have released it world wide then <_<. The wait was tooo long ;-;

bondingo 26th April 2008 05:37 AM

This album is going to flop big time here in the US, as in worse than Kylies and Utada's :\

criminal 26th April 2008 01:28 PM

Eh, I only like With Every Heartbeat, sry2say. x_x

I worry that this could happen -- to me, it seems that Americans have totally different tastes to other countries...

fanmail 27th April 2008 12:49 AM

KONICHIWA *****ES IS FRIGGIN' HOT.

that is all. =D

Ayumi-Yummi 27th April 2008 01:32 AM

I'm gonna see her in SF, shocking though that tickets are STILL for sale! It's a shame, she's so amazing. WEH was a big dance hit on the radio here. I think the album will do good, she already received so many positive reviews from publications.

♥ you! 8th December 2008 08:27 AM

WHY IS SHE STILL RELEASING SINGLES FROM 'ROBYN?'

The album is amazing and all but like, when you've been listening to the same material since 05/06..:weep

*
oh wait the album was just released to the U.S April of this year. w/e I want new material. she was milked this album long enough :grumpy

drewbilation 8th December 2008 08:34 AM

^ she just rereleased the album in the UK a week or two back LOL.

apparently she's gone back to the studio, though, so hopefully we'll be getting some new material soon.

spookshow 8th December 2008 10:19 AM

the 'robyn' album is awesome, but its time for some new material!

anyone heard her new versions of keep this fire burning and show me love? pretty good!

Kobayashiwoof 9th December 2008 03:51 AM

I thought the new versions totally killed the originals. Especially Show Me Love... that was just weird

Vinylfantasy 21st March 2010 01:30 AM

Robyn's coming out with new music!! Her latest project will be released in three parts, featuring production by Klas Åhlund, Diplo and Röyksopp!! So excited to hear this cuz I love them! I have never been a huge Robyn fan at all but her latest single "FemBot" is fan-freakin-tastic.

FemBot

zoomzoom 21st March 2010 02:52 AM

Great news!

I'm so excited for her to work with Röyksopp again, The Girl And The Robot was such an amazing song.

Neko★munication 21st March 2010 03:11 AM

I remember discovering Konnichiwa *****es a few years ago... @__@ Oh god, I'm sorry to say it really put me off her music. It's so obnoxious and idiotic.

Luckily she redeemed herself when I heard With Every Heartbeat x) I seriously could not believe it was the same artist. But yeah... Konnichiwa *****es has tainted her in my eyes D:

rossbarney2003 24th October 2010 09:22 PM

I can't stop playing her latest single "Indestuctible". Especially the "Laidback Luke Remix". It's actually mad lol :-P

Indestructible (Laidback Luke Remix)

Pieces_of_SEVEN 24th October 2010 10:54 PM

Everyone has their music feux pas. She probably hadn't as much control over her music back then as she does now? I don't know, but I try not to judge artists on past songs.

ohsixthirty 3rd November 2010 04:52 AM

Robyn is performing here in a few days, I need to get tix!

Pieces_of_SEVEN 3rd November 2010 05:30 AM

Anyone watch Gossip Girl?
She performed on this weeks episode:

Excited for the full Body Talk album!

ohsixthirty 3rd November 2010 06:12 AM

^me too. I love the new version of indestructible.

Catzi 4th November 2010 03:48 AM

I just discovered her music via last.fm. It's so good! I love Criminal Intent, and the songs from Body Talk 2 all seem really good compared to what I've heard from Body Talk 1. I might just have to pick up the CD. :yes

Pieces_of_SEVEN 11th November 2010 11:48 PM

yayyy Body Talk leaked today!

haikudasai 15th November 2010 04:47 PM

That must have been awesome! I wish I could have seen her in concert.

Supposedly she's working on releasing more music in the same way that she released the Body Talk albums. I hope she starts releasing them sometime this year! After Body Talk I need MOAR!
