^ 'Animato' was an awesome song....one of my favs off the album. My most favorite song was probably 'Tippy Toe' even though it was muy scandalosa :innocent. 'About me' is also an amazing track along with 'You Make Me Want to be a Man' :D.

Yeah yeah yeah, I listened to "About Me" today and there's something soo personal about that song you just can't help but love.

"Animato" is easily one of her best songs period. Japanese or English. I can't believe she could make something so amazing by herself. That just goes to show Hikki really has that indescribable magic that only she can do.

It's my favorite track followed by The Workout!!

I seriously cannot say enough about Animato. It's such a magical track.

^ LOL I had no idea people made a big deal about 'About me'. Tbh, when AyUta first showed it to me I had no idea who it was xD! I thought it was just some American singer and she was like 'No! That's Utada!'....lol but yeah 'Animato' rox my sox. 'The Workout' is pretty cool but that whole tuba or trombone thing at the end is kind of...erm strange <.<...I think my least favorite song would probably be 'Exodus '04'...Idk I just think it's an incredibly boring song :/.

Oooh and I almost forgot! I absolutely love 'Hotel Lobby'! I'm dying to know the story behind it too since it's a little vague.

I like this song a little (the chorus is kinda nice) but the majority of it is such crap IMO, especially the verses:

:laugh Oops, we both made typos, lol. But either way that song's lyrics make me go "wat". That's the big problem I had with EXODUS... the lyrics were awkward. Like, why does she have to sing about "born-again Christians" when she's making a club song? Sorry, Hikki, but stuff like that (and the King Tutankhamun reference) is just not necessary at all. Also, did anyone else feel like her enunciation or something was really strange. Like she always sounded out of breath and like she was stretching her words too much. Really awkward.

it probably would have flopped either way lol. but easy breezy as the LEAD SINGLE? wlell, IDJ are known for screwing over their artists... :laugh

Yeah, it didn't get much on the promotional scale so a flop was pretty much inevitable. But the least they could have done was make some nice videos and release stronger songs as singles.

Although I did enjoy Devil Inside - WHY was there no PV?!

Devil Inside was such a catchy song. I'm not surprised it was a club hit.

Yeah it is such a great song. I love the overall theme of the song and the Japanese-influenced instrumentation is hot!

In really wish Kremlin Dusk was a single, it was my favourite song on the album. I love the bit which starts when she goes "Born in a war of opposite attraction...". It seems so dramatic and I love it!

I dun really like Kremlin Dusk, dunno why.
And I hope the English album will be something like HEART STATION: soothing, but with deep thoughts (well all her jpn albums have deep thoughts anywayz). For the lead single, I hope it'll be something more serious, rather than silly "I'm Japan-ne-se". No more stupid video, no more weird make up.. Something more natural...

It's good to bring her Japanese image to the western anywayz. It's already proven that the ancient geisha look didn't work at all. :P

Is anyone else kinda scared for Hikki? The American music scene is dominated by such craptacular stuff lately... it's all about ridiculous hooks and awful beats. No one really cares about good music. The only refreshing artist I've seen in a while is Leona Lewis.

^ I am a a little, but even though the album was a flop in America, it sold pretty well in Japan. I have faith in her though, I'm pretty sure its gonna sound good,I dont know if it's gonna sell though, we will just have to wait and see...

i have faith that utada will create a SOLID masterpiece, but however, i really don't have much faith in her selling and becoming a hit, no matter who produces her.

The vote goes towards the video as a whole. The focus isn't on whether Hikki was in the video or not. I still think Kiss & Cry was the better PV of the two though. The lipsynching was a nice touch.

oh I meant because it was Hikki's song with the video not that Hikki was in the video...I mean it was just a montage of clips...its not like it was anything creative...at least that's what I think.

I hated the Kiss & Cry PV, the animation was sooo ugly and they didn't even finish the song [they cut off my favorite part], Beautiful World PV was better because at least it did a good job of promoting its tie-in

Either way, seeing the track record for that Stargate person makes me also wonder if she's going to continue in her "hip hop" theme for her English stuff. I don't think that's a bad thing per se, only that those releases from those artists aren't... really good songs. Sold well and are impressive, yeah, but musically? :/ Hard to say I guess.

Just about all the music in Japan is generic now and it has been for along time. Ayumi's music ain't nothing but old ass Matsuda Seiko music. Namie ain't nothin' but some derived ass Hikki songs...if not her then TLC. BoA music aint nothin' but old ass Britney Spears music. Koda Kumi music/image ain't nothin' but some old ass copied american music. All the J-rock artist music ain't nothin; but old ass B'z music. I could keep going but yall get the point. Just about everything that we listen to is generic. So all this Stargate is genertic nees to be put to rest. I bet most of yall like all that generic music they puts out anyway. :rolleyes

Just to answer that, colour-wise, there's a Japanese word for everything. :) But fruit-wise, I think it's because oranges aren't a native fruit to Japan? Therefore, when an orange was introduced, they took the English word for it and started to use it. When it comes to writing lyrics as well, I would definitely rather use "daiyamondo" or "daiamondo" rather than "kongouseki", just because it flows more than kongouseki does. But in normal conversation, I'm not sure because, I don't talk much about diamonds in conversations. :(

Umm...gotta disagree on this. I don't know Seiko so I can't say anything about this but Namie being derived from Hikki songs...don't think so. Namie's style is way different from Hikki's and Namie has a certain variety to her music that Hikki doesn't really follow. For me, it's like if you want a uptempo song, you better look at Namie's discrography and although I'm a Hikki fan, I can't really say something like that for her. BoA being like Britney Spears...yeah, not seein it. Koda Kumi isn't really a copied American aritst; she's got soooo much on them it's not even funny. If someone can name one person to compare her too with an actual explanation instead of bashing then maybe I'll see something but as of now, yeah, not gonna buy that.

Anyways, I would HATE it if she started doing the type of music that was listed with Stargate. I don't think they all sound generic / the same but there is a definite stylistic connection that I don't like with Hikki. Honestly, Don't Stop The Music is the best song on that list but I don't wanna Hikki to do a song like that. Besides, Stargate is not the only ones in charge cause you know Hikki will have her say in this so I'm sure it's not gonna be like a "generic American song"

, I mean look at timberland, sure he changed a few things with her songs, but Hikki still had control over her lyrics, I honestly dont think the song is gonna be that much of an "American genetic song" I mean look at EXODUS . I dont think Hikki is gonna give them to much control when it comes to her music, she may take some of their advice, but I dont see her changing her music to fit their idea of what the think is good music

^ I HAVE to agree on this. Some way or another she is going to have control over what she creates. She's not one to allow others to completely mess with her music, and I like that. I know for sure we are going to hear some amazing Hikki songs when the album leaks.

I know I cant wait to hear it, and I'm pretty sure the album will do good if they just promote it enogh, how do they expect her to be realized if she is not promoted. I dont even remember ever seeing her music videos on T.V (if they ever were anyway :grumpy)

For her first English album, I was sure she was going to get good promotion because she had been working with Timbaland, but I guess I was wrong. But maybe with Stargate it will turn out different.

Maybe she'll work with Timbaland again since everything he's doing seems to be a hit these days and will give her more promotion. I would love to see her interviewed and stuff and see the video premiere on MTV

I know I cant wait to see how this will turn out to be, I remeber looking for her Exodus CD in stores like WAL-MART and target but I never found them there I had to get it online

I don't really remember her receiving much promotion for EXODUS, but apparently some of my classmates who don't know her (or know her from Kingdom Hearts...) recognized her whenever I said her name, saying that apparently someone had said that she's supposed to be "the next biggest thing" in the American music industry, or something like that.

But like... when EXODUS came out in stores, even, I didn't really see the album... anywhere. -_-;

It'd be nice to see her get some promotion this time around. ^o)

I actually found a copy at Best Buy so I was pleasantly surprised and it was my 1st Hikki album :)

But they only had 1 copy so I was lucky I snatched it up. I would love to see her next album in stores but I'll pre-order just in case...

I bought Exodus at FYE I think. And I also saw it at Best Buy at some point in time. Now, all the stores only have the little separator thing with "Utada" on it, but no Utada CDs. :( I also saw her on TV once (on MTV, I think) out of pure luck. They were talking about Exodus.
