ASIA TOUR 2008 Asian dates confirmed!

A source now states the dates and locations of the ASIA TOUR 2008 ~10th Anniversary~ overseas stops!

Quote:

2008/09/20 (Saturday) - Hong Kong - Asia-World Expo
2008/10/18 (Saturday) - Shanghai - Shanghai Grand Stage
2008/11/01 (Saturday) - Taipei - Taipei Arena
2008/11/02 (Sunday) - Taipei - Taipei Arena
Source

This is one long tour.. @_@

It's only a matter of time before her official site announces it now. [though, I don't think it'll need a thread of its own since there seems to be a bunch of Asian tour date threads.. D:~]

Also, the article states that the tour's production costs were upwards of 2.5 billion yen, or 23.1 million USD.

zoomzoom 20th June 2008 07:59 AM

I'm surprised to see so few dates with last years success, just one extra Taiwan and the same in China. And the Chinese dates are a month apart? It seems long, but it's only 4 concerts..

[taskin.ayu] 20th June 2008 07:59 AM

Yeah this tour is going on very late. It doesn't leave much time to do a CDL concert does it? O_O

truehappiness 20th June 2008 08:00 AM

Well, they're far apart for a good reason, I imagine..

Most likely to allow enough time to transport the stage materials and set them up. :\

CDLs are usually planned mid-November.

Basically, she's worked from CDL07-08 directly to AT08 up until the end of June, then doing a-nation '08, then resuming her AT08 schedule to finally work on CDL08-09. @_@

LacusClyne 20th June 2008 08:01 AM

only one additional concert fo taipei..... i thought they will add more, seeing last year's sucess

ALPHY 20th June 2008 08:02 AM

Dang, I guess we'll see a DVD release of the tour next year then. >=\

Well they're managing to bring it from Shanghai to Taipei in under 2 weeks.

truehappiness 20th June 2008 08:04 AM

My hunch is that they might start editing the June 29th show, and kind of ignore the Asian stops for the DVD..

I think Namie Amuro did this with her PLAY TOUR and it worked out a lot better than the AT07 fiasco.

lol, I guessed the Taiwan date. @_@

Lanz16 20th June 2008 08:30 AM

The tour production cost makes me :thud
Anyways, its a "YAY!" for that Ayu will come in Hong Kong again!!! XD

AyUmIXx 20th June 2008 08:32 AM

hoahhhhhhhhhh..two dates for Taipei stop??
wahhh so lucky Taiwanese fans gotta see Ayu for twice..wahhhhh!!!
thanks for the info :)

SunshineSlayer 20th June 2008 08:32 AM

There are huge gaps between those dates. I'm thinking new single for sure.

truehappiness 20th June 2008 08:39 AM

We're probably going to get a new single at the end of AT08's Japan leg.

The large gaps inbetween the tours tend to be for Ayu to rest [as well as to transport the stage from place to place..]~

I_you_me 20th June 2008 08:42 AM

thanks for the news

prussian blue 20th June 2008 09:00 AM

no singapore :weep i was weeping again now... but maybe i'll go to china/taiwan this year end so maybe i'll be there? hhohohoho what a dream...

Ayumiko 20th June 2008 09:07 AM

I'm sure she's gonna release something during the overseas concerts to promote and stuff. I'm glad there's 2 taipei concerts...HK should have 2 as well.

truehappiness 20th June 2008 09:10 AM

HK probably can't have two because the Asia-World Expo Arena is pretty big.. 13,500 seats.. probably the biggest venue of the Asian dates..

Kobayashiwoof 20th June 2008 09:14 AM

Ayumi!!!! I really hope you make new songs during your tour :(.

se7entheaven 20th June 2008 09:28 AM

then she won't really have enough time for new album in December? wow
I think this time she must've planned something different for Overseas fans, and those lucky fans will get to listen her new singles, imagine: summer/fall/winter singles, anything that ayu'll release this year ^^. 2 ates in Taiwan means many more Taiwan artist will go and see this spectacular show coz it's ayu's anniversary tour ^^ I hope the DVD isn't coming next December'09 LOL That'll be sucks. I think this DVD will only Include Japan stops, then maybe the Overseas shows will be bundled together in CDL08-09 DVD early next year, maybe???...I dunno...confusing...coz Kylie Minogue one it before, SHOWGIRL an SHOWGIRL Homecoming, so I supposed ayu'll change something in the tracklist or anything else this time round ^^

Choyan 20th June 2008 10:08 AM

nice... though, I still can't make it to any dates still v-v~...it's such a pitty TwT~~~

LacusClyne 20th June 2008 10:18 AM

now the dates are confirm, it means really no singapore

Bashumaru 20th June 2008 10:25 AM

23.1 Million is for the whole tour right o_o, not just the Asia stops? The Hong Kong date is so late T_T, if it was earlier I could make it T_T, I hope we can get releases though.

truehappiness 20th June 2008 10:27 AM

Generally, tour costs cover the entire tour.

23.1 million for Asia only would be absurd. :|

AyuHamasaki01 20th June 2008 10:33 AM

So she has 4 overseas concerts?

KuroixShiroi_Namida 20th June 2008 10:37 AM

Why am i living in Australia? :mini!

FeNgZhEnG 20th June 2008 10:59 AM

it's kinda expected that Singapore is not one of her tour stops

keikeiaznqueen 20th June 2008 11:20 AM

-celebrates-

Good, I'm saving money for the HK stop now...

AyuGAME 20th June 2008 11:48 AM

FINALLY!!! i already booked my shanghai ticket, two weeks ago...hopefully i can get it...
wish me luck guys!!!

I_you_me - your set is gorgeus!!! i love it so much...

ayumisrael 20th June 2008 12:01 PM

ooo 4 dates this time!
1 more than last year!
So the tour ends on 2nd November XD.
I wonder how will she be able to record a new album on that time unless if she will record most of the tracks this summer.

extepan 20th June 2008 12:07 PM

god...1 show in hk and TWO shows in taipei? that's unfair!

4ever*ayu 20th June 2008 12:38 PM

...aahhh...so not close...1 extra show but not in Indonesia/Malaysia/Singapore...

Thx for the info..!

SolarAngel 20th June 2008 12:47 PM

I'm guessing a single in July and she'll work on her album during august and the time between hongkong and shanghai.

TITANIC 20th June 2008 01:26 PM

are they using same stage with asia tour 2007?
i thought one performance would be held with her bday

Seeing how high-budget the stage is this year, I'm sure they need more time to prep moving and setting it up for each overseas location

terra 20th June 2008 02:46 PM

GREAT!!!!
It finally official!

se7entheaven 20th June 2008 02:48 PM

tokyoxjapanxfan 20th June 2008 04:24 PM

omg! haha this tour is sooo long! o_O thanks for the info~

minna 20th June 2008 04:51 PM

only 4 dates? I thought there would be more

anyway what a long tour (O_O) ! it started in what, March? and it will end in November!

alternarist 20th June 2008 05:32 PM

haha i find it funny that almost everyone is super and extremely excited about when the official dates of the asian stops will be released. and when it's really released, everybody is like "oh... ok"

ayu have like around 3 weeks in between each stop. i wonder if she will sorta forget some dance steps or what :P

According to the website on the first post, this is what it says,

Quote:

The theme of this year's ASIA TOUR 2008 is "harbour". Ayu would like to use the theme of "harbour" to represent the different places ayu have been to the past 10 years and present the concert in the most extravagant way. Ayu also like to use all the "strength" she had gained from all the places she had been to continue pushing on her career.

AyuGAME 20th June 2008 05:39 PM

^i think its the same theme like what she use in her japan tour...
her concert stage for this year show is more extravagant than last year tour...and so many property on this year tour...i think that's why she spend 3 weeks between each stops

alternarist 20th June 2008 05:46 PM

yeah.. it's more or less gonna be the exact same show. Since ayu already insisted on the consistency of the concerts in both japan and asian stops last year, i guess she will do it so this year..

It all fits. ayu is back for a-nation so chances of new setlist is relative low.
the time period in between each asian stop is quite big. which means the ship gonna take some time to be set up..

of cos.. this is jus my speculation... not necessarily true.

wenren93 20th June 2008 06:57 PM

D: no singapore, argggggg
but i'm getting my ex girlfren whom every year going back to japan to visit her god grandma and also for vacation to help me get ayu stuffs :D wuhahahahha

Though it's only 2 weeks between the Shangai and Taipei stops, so it can be done in less time.

Bigtop 20th June 2008 08:31 PM

Thanks for sharing the details! Can't wait for these...

criminal 20th June 2008 09:15 PM

Does avex make any profit with a high production cost like that or are they kinda spending some of their "savings" on Ayumi since she's... well, Hamasaki Ayumi?

polka-dot-jewel 20th June 2008 11:53 PM

lol I just saw this on her official site.

She's really gonna be busy this year. She's gonna take a small break before rehearsing for a-nation, then she'll be doing a-nation, then three weeks later, she'll be starting the Asia leg of her tour. =O

Can't wait to hear more about the tour~! =D

I'm pretty sure that they do. However, I think it's mostly tour goods that they make money from.. that and the sponsors [Panasonic and etc] help pay some of the costs.

Multiplying the price of the tickets [7800 yen] and the amount of fans that will watch [260,000] gives us around 2,028,000,000, two billion twenty-eight million.

And then you add the goods that people probably purchase [a shirt, random object, ayupan, and a fan, which is around 5700 yen] times the amount of people.. comes out to be: 1,462,000,000, one billion, four hundred sixty-two million.

2,020,000,000 + 1,462,000,000 = 3,482,000,000 yen = 32.5 million USD

Of course, you have to take into account that people will pay different prices for tickets and that people will buy TONS more or TONS less tour goods. I think that they tend to make quite a bit more.. I mean, that's how they can keep doing all of these tours. It seems as though the tour costs are always pretty high for Ayu's shows. Probably because they know that Ayu can bring in enough money so that they don't perform at a loss.

I think because Ayumi's biggest profits nowadays are from her tours Avex does sponsor.

And like Truehappiness's calculation, they pretty much get the money back.

hmm 260.000 fans willw atch? o.O is it the biggest tour ever held for ayu??

AyuGAME 21st June 2008 06:52 AM

^not really, i think her 2002 tour, is the biggest show... arena tour + stadium tour + open air concert...

taskinillusion 21st June 2008 06:55 AM

Wow, November?! She's always so busy!

truehappiness 21st June 2008 08:34 AM

Her 2002 tours were somewhat separate from each other, while this year it seems as though everything's really really close to one another.. @_@

[CDL -> AT -> a-nation -> AT -> CDL]

Ayumi Hamasaki to hit Chinese cities again

Japanese pop queen Ayumi Hamasaki is set to hit Hong Kong, Shanghai and Taipei for her second Asian tour, the exact same Chinese cities as her first tour last year, her agent Avex announced on Thursday.
Ayumi's solo concert reaches Hong Kong on September 20, the Shanghai Grand Stage on October 18, and the Taipei Arena on November 1.

Despite the announcement, at the beginning of 2008, that she had gone deaf in her left ear, the tour for celebrating the tenth anniversary of Ayumi's singing career started as scheduled on April 5 in Tokyo. So far, the concerts across Japan have drawn a total audience of some 230, 000 people, the Shanghai-based Oriental Morning Post reports.
