Exercising to ayu!!!!

I was invited this Monday for a free section of Spinning in the gym I go to. I was in the cardio room, about to go jogging (and the spinning room is somewhere nearby, but I had never gone to it since I'm not signed in for spinning classes) when the instructor came and asked who wanted to do Spinning for free!! Of course I did accept the invitation (I'm so cheap LOL), since I was really wanting to do it, to see how it was like LOL They put electronic music and make you cycle at different speeds, intensity and weight, simulating mountain climbs and other different things, according to the beat of music. Most songs were regular/usual songs western songs I knew including a remix of U2 Vertigo and Don't Stop The Music by Rihanna, etc.

Today, I conviced the instructor to let me have yet another free spinning class:lech, because I really LOVED the first one I had (like the best/coolest aerobic exercise I've ever done) and I told her about the possibility of me signing in for those classes (it's extra pricey though since you have to pay a lot over the regular exercising program in the gym), and she invited me again LOL Then the songs started playing, and when it came to the second/third song, I heard "subete wa kitto kono te ni aru, koko ni yume wa oite ikenai", and I was cycling like mad and I thought "No way! ayumi hamasaki!? hahaha" This thing couldn't get ANY COOLER!! Of course, I'm kinda introverted so i didn't show much emotion, just kept on cycling, but I was really surprised because I can barely imagine someone in my city would know what the heck ayumi hamasaki is. It was a really cool remix of Fly high, but I can't remember which, since it's been years since i've listened to ayu's older remixes. It was fun though...if more cool songs like that are going to be played in the next sections, I'm totally signing in for Spinning classes!!!:yes

Anybody here exercises/has exercised to ayu songs? LOL

truehappiness 25th June 2008 05:40 PM

Hm... I think I've run to Ayu songs before. XD

However, it's interesting that you noted this, because our very own Rody! is a spinning instructor and regularly uses Ayu in his classes [he's somewhere in Europe though]~

kirei_ayumi 25th June 2008 05:42 PM

the best song is my opinion to exercise to is Trauma in combination with Tae Bo ^_^

KarenPang 25th June 2008 05:44 PM

1st of all , LOL at the thread :laugh

Quote:

LOL as a matter of fact I have . I gone through all of her non remix albums except for A Song For XX & LOVEppears whenever I hit the gym

there was a period of time where I will listen to her album by album on a non stop basis but since then , it's only by songs

it depends on my mood when I hit the gym on which song to tune into her , it can be a happy or an angry no.

ImpactBreaker 25th June 2008 05:45 PM

I don't uually listen to anything else other than the music the gym plays because I have that huge 30GB iPOD, and I don't haave any kind of pad/belt/w/e to hold it, so I never take it to the gym :no

Yeah, I remembered of Rody! when I was in the class, because of that fact ahahha :D Specially, because he recently recommended spinning in a certain thread (and gave me a few tips, thanks!) and I know how much of an ayu fan he is LOL

KarenPang 25th June 2008 05:52 PM

well the gym that's located downstairs of my house doesn't have such great facilities like the 1 you use so I have to make do with my mp3

aside from her songs , I also sometimes watch the PVs of her that I added/stored inside the memory card that I slot into my mp3 to watch to pass the time when I'm on the treadmill

best :D

alternarist 25th June 2008 06:02 PM

try watching ASIA TOUR DVD, den follow her dance steps in AUDIENCE, then follow by Boys & Girls.

criminal 25th June 2008 06:06 PM

Ugh.. I tried running once and I had my Sansa with me [I'm sure Ayumi came on at some point] and it was a total wreck. The music really messed up by running beat or w/e and I kept on tripping and stuff. I dislike music when I have to do anything physical. I go by rhythms in life and an outside rhythm [in this case, music] is a very problematic factor.

Though... I think that exercising to loud music [AYU-TORANSU!!] from speakers could be fun with an instructor and stuff.

greggerz189 25th June 2008 06:07 PM

All the time. Did the instructor play Ayu on purpose?

apple-pi 25th June 2008 06:11 PM

Omg, that's so cool. I wish I'd hear Ayu in random places too! Never happens T_T
Anyway, I always take walks while listening to my mp3, and I usually have a bunch of Ayu songs in it, so yeah ahah XD

Yeah, I guess it can break coordination depending on the type of exercise you might be doing and depending on the music, so it isn't always recommended.

Yeah, in the case of spinning it's really cool because all the exercise coordination is actually related to the beat of the music, and they choose the right songs for each kind of activity and level of exercise, so it's almost impossible to lose the track of the exercise when the instructor is constantly telling you what to do, and you can also see the other people doing the same thing, so you have all kinds of stimulation to do it. Even a noob like me (who totally messed up in the Yoga when I tried it once and had the instructor trying to correct me several times, and almost had my head separated from my body in a punch I almost took in Muai Thai, when I tried it once -and nevermore LOL- :laugh) can do everything precisely :laugh

ahah I'm not sure. In every class, they already bring a determined medley of songs that play in sequence. The instructor even tell us a briefing saying that song 1 is just to pick the pace and the last song will be heavy mountain climbing, for example, before everything starts, just that we can have an idea of what we're going to go through the instruction. so the ayu song had already been "studied" to be placed in the middle for the type of the activity we would do, so I guess I can say it was on purpose (since the song didn't play at random).

Yeah, the gym I go to is big, however they only play songs downstairs (the part where there's all the weightlifting stuff, and there's a room for several activities like Yoga, Muai Thai, and dancing aerobics like body pump). However, in the cardio section, which is upstairs, there's no music speakers or sound system, just TVs, and they are really boooring. I often go jogging on the treadmills, but it can get so monotous, because of the lack of entertainment (the only part upstairs that has a sound system is the spinning room). I thought about taking my iPOD there a few times so that it wouldn't be as annoying, but for the reasons I specified in my previous post, I don't. Most people there go with their mp3 players and iPOds though.

Like criminal, though, I don't think I'd pick the right songs to play while I'm jogging, so I guess it wouldn't work that well, even if I did bring my mp3 player.

I always had a simillar thought because I'm brazilian too (from Fortaleza) and I was like, "heck, will I ever listen to ayu here? Nobody knows ayu at all here" (Or at least I guess I haven't seem what's beside the tip of the iceberg LOL), so it was a big surprise to hear her in the gym :laugh

gogirlanime 25th June 2008 07:37 PM

I love doing cardio to ayu's trance and eurobeat stuff it really gets me going or keeps me going.

ayumisrael 25th June 2008 07:37 PM

wooo Fly high!!! Lucky you!! It's my most favorite song of ayu along with Depend on you I would cycle like mad XDD LOL.

CHE.R.RY 25th June 2008 07:48 PM

Aww you're so lucky lol! I don't think that would ever happen in my area :no. I've never exercised to Ayu's music because I barely exercise :O...but I'm thinking I should start soon because I feel like my metabolism is slowing down! Anyways, that's really cool, I wish I could experiece something like that xD.

[OFFTOPIC]
OMG, I was on a school trip with this kid who had been going to the same school as me for three years and when he let me browse his iPod I saw the name Hitomi Shimatani to my great surprise. [And he had some Ayumi songs that were featured in some animé. :P] PS. My city has about 11k people, so I think you're bound to find another J-music fan/casual listener in your city. :O

AyUta 25th June 2008 10:10 PM

:laugh That's awesome! Nah, I hardly exercise, but when I do I don't do it with music.
I should though. :) With Ayu and Hikki XD

Chibi_Venus 26th June 2008 12:17 AM

Have I exercised to Ayu's music? Yes.

Do I exercise to Ayu's music? All the time.

Her upbeat songs are perfect! Whether I'm riding my bike, jogging, dancing, I always have at least one song by Ayu in my workout routine. :D I only wish we could have iPods in my summer school gym class. I'd definitely feel more motivated!

Songs I usually exercise to (bolded songs are perfect for me):

ANGEL'S SONG
Beautiful Day
BLUE BIRD

Born To Be...
(don't) Leave me alone
everlasting dream "Rainbow Dew Drop Mix"
evolution
glitter
HEAVEN "House Mix"
HONEY
Ladies Night (also ~another night~)
M "Above & Beyond remix"
Mirrorcle World
Naturally "Wippenberg remix"
Not yet (also "Xelakad Remix")
Startin'
WE WISH
WHATEVER -Dub's 1999 Club Remix-/Version M

So, as you can see, the songs I usually exercise to have a constant beat and are either upbeat or a remix.

Seiko Yua 26th June 2008 12:19 AM

heck yes! she's all i exercise to :D i usually listen to some of dj amaya's remixes. they always get me going

ArchangelLegend 26th June 2008 06:24 AM

I think I've excercised to Blue Bird and some Fly High remix before. But if you count walking around campus as excercise, I've listened to many Ayu songs with my iPod. And if driving a car is a workout, I've listened to them all.

minna 26th June 2008 06:55 AM

ah you are so lucky!
I wish I would hear ayu at my school
but I think I have to forget that XDDDD

well at my next autumn session
I plan on goin o the gym at my school
so well, my Ipod is gonna play ayu songs for sure

but I really like doing exercise with ayu music :D

and well everytime I work at school // home (homeworks, etc.) Ayu is certainly playing (well it counts right? I'm training my brain with school stuff XDDDD)

lovelism 26th June 2008 10:18 AM

i tried ayu's songs while i'm exercising but i think Koda kumi's song is more suitable for Exercising with songs like BUT!

Walking in the campus counts! Driving the car, no:no :laugh

Like the muscles/heart, the brain needs training too, so I think it counts. I'm just wondering though, can you concetrate in studying when songs like 1LOVE/decision are playing? :laugh

Tasked 26th June 2008 11:08 AM

haha awesome thread. You mentioned me :D Well yea I'm a fitness and spinninginstructor in a gym in Groningen, the netherlands. I've used many japanese songs (mostly Ayu).. I personally really like rock and eurobeat/trance/remix for spinning but I try to have all genres in a class..

For Ayu I've used:
Catcher in the light
is this LOVE? (1 time.. didn't work well, somehow)
Until that day (got many requests for the mp3!)
Moments ayu-mi-x 6 remix
No way to say ayu-mi-x 6 remix
Not yet remix
Tasking remix
RAINBOW (cooldown)
evolution remix
M above & beyond mix (typicall spinning-music)
Mirrorcle World
Beautiful day
Together When...

Right now I'm about to use bold&delicious; but I'm not real sure yet.. These 2 months I'll be teaching 9 spinningclasses a week (on top of my own 3-times a day fitnessing), so I've gotta create a lesson with not too many Position1-isolations, or else I'll kill my knees......again.. -_-'.. I've got two jobs, but this one deserves my full attention..

emi♡ 26th June 2008 11:47 AM

the megamix on LOVEppears always gets my blood going lol

wenren93 26th June 2008 02:54 PM

ah ha :D
not a bad idea.
never thought of that before, but exercise while listening to ayu songs.. hmm wait, i did it once before, when i was jogging alone ( does that counted? LOL )

jiarongisme 26th June 2008 03:34 PM

I would recommend evolution.

I'll dance to it (the choreography in CDL 06-07 and AT07) but it's a gym thing so... lol :P

Lanz16 26th June 2008 03:38 PM

I've NEVER EVER tried to use Ayu's music as an exercise tool.

Since the AErobics uses music right now, I think I would give it a shot. :)

BTW, I think "Real me" is the best song for AErobics. :rolleyes

Kashoku 26th June 2008 03:42 PM

I run with my ipod shuffle and I have upbeat Ayu songs like Mirrorcle World, Fly High, Step YOU, evolution, ect.....

ayujarl 26th June 2008 04:11 PM

I use my "Ayu Summer songs" playlist to go yo gym :innocent

fairyland
BLUE BIRD

AyuHamasaki01 26th June 2008 05:13 PM

You are so lucky.

majrakun 26th June 2008 05:16 PM

This brought back some memories. I remember this one time, my PE teacher made all of us run around the track for a good 20 minutes. Imagine doing that under 40 degrees celcius of heat from the sun. Good thing she let us smuggle in our MP3 players and mobile phones. The only reason I must've survived was because of the Ayu songs I was listening to!

aqua_crystal 28th June 2008 10:36 PM

Yeah, I take my iPod to the gym and always listen to Ayu songs! Usually her remixes.

ImpactBreaker 18th September 2008 10:22 PM

LOL yesterday my spinning instructor played Fly high again.:spinning:colorjump But this time she actually said: "Do you guys know who this is? it's ayumi hamasaki! The most famous japanese pop star. This song is in japanese. She's the japanese madonna". She was out of the bike so she kept dancing to it ahahh And I looked at her and giggled but didn't say a word. It really is undoubtful that she might be an ayu fan after all :laugh It was the third song, and I was already exhausted, but when I noticed it was Fly high, I did have an inner bust of extra energy to try harder LOL

pommy48 19th September 2008 01:39 AM

LOL! that's such a cool experience!!

and i like listening to any of the remixes, STEP you from ayu mix 6 is great!

haha, you can probably win some brownie points from the instructor if you said that you're one of the mod for the greatest ayu international forum :roflmao

Sweet_Ai 19th September 2008 02:02 AM

Yeah, this summer when my friend and I exercised I listened to Ayumi on my iPod

kendelle 19th September 2008 01:53 PM

I don't go to the gym, but sometimes I whip out an Ayu Trance and go nuts. Then again, I sometimes start doing the dances when I watch her concerts. Trauma is probably the one I go to the most, because I can do the actions with Ayu XD

I don't think I'll ever hear Ayu in my daily life! :(

If I were you, I'd have struck up a conversation about ayu with the instructor and we'd be like, best friends after that XD!!! I'm usually shy about starting up conversations with people but if they're into ayu? Man, they better be ready for some verbal glomping. XD

That's most likely what I'm going to do this monday :) I'm usually not good with words but since I'm the most regular spinning trainee there, she often talks to me about some random stuff, so I'll most likely bring this subject when I see her early this Monday. I'll also get the chance to ask about a cool remix of a brazilian Axé song she often plays in one of her CDs which I've been looking for. I was supposed to have talked with her on that instruction, but when it ended some girls remained there and were talking to her about other stuff so I felt kind awkward to approach there and say "Oh so you're an ayu fan and...." and while I was cycling I was way too short of breath to say anything :dead2

Jwiz 21st September 2008 03:41 PM

Haha i tried before, when i was doing cardio exercises like running.

For e.g I planned to jog for one hour, so i brought my walkman phone & earplugs along, and listened to the whole of Secret album x]

Tomorrow I'm gonna teach a nice spinningclass with the new Mirrorcle World "Progressive Mix". I hope my people will like it =)

Melrose 22nd September 2008 09:15 PM

I prefer Namie Amuro or Koda Kumi, because Ayu's music doesn't really have nice excirsing beats imo. :3 And I can't stand her remixes..they're so bland, they hurt my ears.

Not the Madonna comment again. Ayu isn't a Japanese Madonna. >_> Slap the woman. : D

I guess it really depends on the type of exercise, the type of training and the type of song. I personally have a feeling her songs aren't very good for jogging, though I've actually never tried it, so I can't really say much. On the spinning, the remix of fly high that was played worked well though. About her remixes being bland, many are, specially the newest non-fanmade ones, but she has her share of good remixes imo tbh.

I don't like that comparison either, because I don't think ayu has anything alike to madonna's career other than:

-One being the "queen of pop" and the other being the "queen of JPOP"
-They both being the most succesful female singers over the years in their countries.
-Both being trend setters, etc.

However musically, they are completely different. ayu sings more about abstractions of feelings, love, and her conflicts and her personal experiences. madonna is a little bolder in that aspect as she sings about sexual/political/racial/religious/etc issues, etc. Also the types of compositions they sing is completely different. ayu often likes guitars and stuff, madonna is more into eletronic beats.

However, it's not like I really cared much, I mean, I was more surprised to find an ayu fan in my city, since I personally don't know any (other than the very few I've converted into her lol). And well, whenever we find articles on ayu over the net these comparisons are way too common. ayu herself was once asked about what she felt being compared to madonna in an interview, and she said she admired madonna and everything, so it's not like it's a huge deal imo.

ImpactBreaker 1st December 2008 02:32 PM

My spinning instructor played HANA [ Dj Amaya 2006 Hitsuzen Remix ] today. It's a really awesome remix, soooo good, specially for spinning :D But I had never listened to it before, other than she playing it (I know DJ Amaya's remixes are really famous among ayu fans but I'm afraid I haven't checked them out yet):eek:no She had played it a few times already, but I didn't know the name of the remix or who did it. I tried looking through the ones I have from her discography, but no luck, so I kept wondering if it was an unnoficial remix. I tried asking her the name of the remix today, but she didn't know the name atm, and she didn't have it written on the cd paper case, but she told me she got it from some website, so I went there and found it. :D

She was saying all the time during the instruction how ayumi is so awesome ahahah :laugh Exercising could never be as fun and pleasing :D
