why do you buy singles ?
 

this's going to sound like a really DUH question but I want to know , do you buy a single because of :

- how pretty the single cover is
- the content of it

or is it because of the artiste ?

if the artist is like Kumi, then I buy all the singles because it's Kumi and I want to have all her singles and albums

- usually though I'll buy singles because I can't wait for the album, and you never know if an artist is gonna leave it off :)

^ yeah, i'm the same with KAT-TUN. i have all their albums & singles because i like to collect everything from them. :laugh

i get singles if they have extras that i like, such as a remix, DVD, or B-sides that won't make it on the studio album.

Usually it's cause I can't wait for the album. The second main reason is if it has a good remix or b-side. There have been a few instances where I just bought them for the cover alone. I haven't been about collecting all their stuff for a while now. I also get singles for the instrumental tracks.

mostly i wont buy singles cause its worthless, unless there's stuff that wont be in the album.

but for some artist like hitomi, i will buy it cause since she's very quiet now, i think im gonna buy the single for burying the "boreness" of her now (ig i have credit card :weep)

I think that's the reason most people buy singles - I mean you never how far the album will be after the single so many people [myself included] just wanna have the songs :)

I always use the stupid excuse - Because they have b-sides, instrumentals and sometimes remixes!!

No, actually i buy singles for the sake of collecting them. Yea now call me stupid. I think the cover plays a part too.

I buy ayu singles and usually kuu singles. Other artist depends on if i like the song or have the money :mini

I'm on a limited budget so I rarely buy singles. For example, I bought Morning Musume's Kanashimi Twilight because it was at a good price, considering I got a photobooklet and I couldn't see myself buying any album of theirs, but wanted to own that song physically.

If the song is just amazing and their aren't any overseas [cheaper] versions of the artist's album, then I buy the single, too.

i have 4 criterias for buying single :
1. because of the artist
2. because i have money at that moment
3. because of bonus
4. because of pretty cover

Since most of my idols are western artists, is a waste of money to buy singles, since they are released after the album is already out there, and for asian artists like Ayu, i prefer to wait until the albums are released... If not, i would be a very poor person.

I buy everything Tenjo Chiki/CSJH releases. I love everything they do :)

Well, I don't buy anything except from Hikki and Ami. I buy all their stuff because I am dedicated to them :D

I don't buy singles I buy only albums and DVDs.
I got ayu's CAROLS single because my japanese teacher (when I studied japanese in private lessons) bought it to me when she was in Japan (I didn't ask her to get me anything though, she surprised me, she was really kind!).

The only musician I purchase singles of is Utada Hikaru. I just like collecting CDs from my favourite artists. I used to buy heaps of singles all the time, Western and Japanese.

Well, for me it depends on several aspects.
First, the artist! If it's an artist whose music I love always (Hamasaki Ayumi & NEWS :love) then I just pre-order the single. I listen to it the first time after it's delivered to my home. If it's an artist that I'm just a fan of or an unknown artist, then I will preview the single.
Second, the content! After previewing the single, if I like it, I'll go to the online shop and see what's included in the single. I'll look at the price, the number of songs, and the cover. The major factor for me though is if I like the any of the songs on the single. If I do, then I'll pre-order/purchase.
In addition, if there is a poster bonus, and I'm a fan of the artist, I'll buy the single. I love posters! :luv2
Lastly, collecting. This is self-explanatory.

Ironically, I used to never buy singles. I always thought them to be a huge waste of money. However, nowadays, I buy more singles than I do albums. Ha ha!

I only buy singles for the b-sides/ remixes which aren't going to appear on the original album.

If the cover counted for me, i'd already had like 30 Ayu singles by now, she has some of the best single covers.

Because I have money and I don't know how to use it. :lmfao

2 reasons:

1. I'm obsessed with the artist (that would be Ayu and Arashi, LOL!!!)
2. I'm obsessed with the song (but that doesn't happen too often since I don't listen to many artists).
