It's not gone unnoticed that music's needed a bloody good kick up the arse for some time now. Indie and R & B are all well and good, but what the hell are we supposed to dance to? Well wonder no more, because The Saturdays are about to throw themselves headfirst into your consciousness like a five-woman whirlwind, and bring back some much-needed, shameless fun to the charts.

They're pure pop and proud of it. "Why are people ashamed of pop?" says Mollie. "Everyone's taking themselves so seriously at the moment. We're a proper, full-on girl band and we're loving it." "We're not models who can't sing - we can all sing, we can all dance," adds Frankie, "and no one's telling us who to be or what to do. We're all different because we're just ourselves, and that's the way it should be."
their first single, the Yazoo-sampling "If This Is Love," will be released on July 28th.

aqua_crystal 5th July 2008 10:24 AM

I love their unique style!!!! I'm really excited to hear more from these gurls!!

drewbilation 7th July 2008 12:55 AM

the girls have uploaded a new track to their MySpace, "Lies."

also, the cover+tracklist for "If This Is Love" is now out:

01. If This Is Love
02. What Am I Gonna Do?

mi|kshake 8th July 2008 10:43 PM

If This Is Love is rather catchy!

mi|kshake~

drewbilation 17th July 2008 10:33 PM

a sampler including snippets of six album tracks has now leaked to YouTube.

the songs are:
01. Up
02. Keep Her
03. Issues
04. Lies
05. Set Me Off
06. If This Is Love

also, it seems "Up" is slated to be their second single.

stickyrice 17th July 2008 10:49 PM

I really really love "If This Is Love" <3 I've been playing it non-stop the past few days. I'm definitely looking forward towards their album!

drewbilation 18th July 2008 11:03 PM

The Saturdays were interviewed and performed on GMTV this morning. Frankie's near tripping and Vanessa's top nearly coming off towards the end of the perf was fun, haha.

Re:★ 19th July 2008 05:27 PM

What happened to Frankies hair? o___o'

drewbilation 19th July 2008 09:15 PM

looks like she got it trimmed a bit shorter. I liked it better how she had it on tour, though.

also, there's a preview of the b-side, "What Am I Gonna Do?" now on 7digital.

bernardation 20th July 2008 11:46 PM

they remind me of the power rangers

Re:★ 23rd July 2008 01:14 AM

I'm officially addicted to If This is Love. The chorus is so damn catchy~

drewbilation 23rd July 2008 11:59 PM

on the official forum, Vanessa has confirmed that "Up" will be their second single, to be released sometime in September. she also said that they are filming the video next week.

the group is also performing on Loose Women tomorrow afternoon.

Re:★ 27th July 2008 09:56 PM

Bought the single earlier today! It was 4 euro for the two songs tho, that's like 2 euro per song. :eviltongu I wouldn't have got it if the single was on iTunes Ireland but isn't atm - wtf? I thought I'd support the girls anyway so yay~

Anyone want me to upload?

drewbilation 27th July 2008 11:49 PM

^ did you get the remix bundle or the one with "What Am I Gonna Do?" if you don't mind uploading, it'd be appreciated. =D

I tried to buy the two bundles on 7digital, as well as the "intro video," but couldn't because I'm not in the UK. dang, I really wanted the extended ver. of "If This Is Love," too. =/ anyway, I've pre-ordered two copies of the CD, though, lol.

The store only had the version with the b-side. It's hard to get singles here nowadays. I only noticed that there was an extended version of If This is Love after buying the single. :headache

I'm uploading now anyway~

drewbilation 28th July 2008 12:58 AM

oh, you bought the CD? for some reason I was thinking you'd downloaded it, despite you saying it wasn't on iTunes yet. but, yeah, the remixes/extended ver. are download-only. they only had one CD release for this, with the b-side.

and, yay! thanks <3

Re:★ 28th July 2008 01:41 AM

The upload was going at like, 25kbp/s or smthn. o____o' Plus I went to watch BBUK again. :P

Here it is anyway.

drewbilation 28th July 2008 02:11 AM

^ hooray, thanks! and in 320kbps too! <3

too bad they put the radio edit on there, though.

drewbilation 4th August 2008 12:24 AM

the single ended up at no. 8 for the week. sales will be available tomorrow.

also, Una gave some details about the "Up" video shoot on the official forum:

edit~ sales were 14,990. the single is currently still at no. 9 in the midweeks, having sold 3,892 copies today. that is actually more than they sold last Tuesday!

drewbilation 22nd August 2008 06:24 PM

there's a making of "Up" video on their official site, under "Behind the Scenes." looks like it's going to be AMAZING.

the girls also shot the cover for "Up," their album and the last two singles yesterday, and there's some behind the scenes stuff for that as well.

also, "If This Is Love" has now sold 33,299 copies in three weeks.

drewbilation 31st August 2008 07:17 PM

fourth post in a row =o

anyway, Frankie is going to premiere "Up" on Radio 1's Switch tonight at 8:40. you can listen live on its website. also, the video will premiere tomorrow on Yahoo.com.

Re:★ 31st August 2008 07:28 PM

No love for The Sats. :no I can't wait for tomorrow now! I heard Up for the first time yesterday while surfing Perez. It's really neat, I dunno if it's as good as ITIL or Issues but I still really like it~

drewbilation 31st August 2008 07:34 PM

they do have fan(s) on here, though. they just don't post in this thread much.

also, another album track leaked today, called "Not Good Enough." it sounds a bit like a slower "Lies."

drewbilation 3rd September 2008 12:52 AM

the video's out. I like it, but I think my expectations were too high. the song is still <3333 though.

Una choosing her mic, and her hair-blowy-landing = AMAZING. also, Vanessa is a ****ing diva.

Re:★ 7th September 2008 06:15 PM

I love Up! Is it true that the album's called Taking Back Sunday? =x

Lol, I downloaded New Direction by S Club Juniors yesterday!

drewbilation 7th September 2008 11:46 PM

that was the rumored title, but it seems like they've changed it. we'll know all the details pretty soon, 'cause it's out October 20th.

drewbilation 9th September 2008 04:30 PM

the album's title is officially "Chasing Lights."

Re:★ 13th September 2008 07:37 PM

Neat title. Do you have a HQ rip of Up by chance? I only have this horrible radio rip that cuts at certain places. I'm addicted to the song and I'm so buying it at HMV when it's out!

drewbilation 13th September 2008 07:39 PM

^ I uploaded the HQ promo disc in the downloads section last night.

Re:★ 13th September 2008 09:52 PM

^ Oh. :bchuck I'll thank you there!

drewbilation 13th September 2008 10:47 PM

^ yeah. the remixes are a bit lackluster, imo, though I do like the Wideboys mix a bit.

also, preview of the "Up" b-side, "Crashing Down," is out. and surprisingly, Mollie actually gets to sing in this.

drewbilation 17th September 2008 12:02 PM

"Up" cover art is out:

Pop band The Saturdays are set to guest star in an episode of Late Night Hollyoaks to be screened in November on E4. The Saturdays are a five piece girl band who supported Girls Aloud on their stadium tour and have recently taken the charts by storm with their first single If This Is Love, which reaching number eight in the singles charts.

It's The Battle of the Bands competition and Hollyoaks student band, The Dirty Diegos are chasing their dream of making it big. As the band prepare to take to the stage they run into The Saturdays, who are headlining the gig.

Drummer Rhys (Andy Moss) does his best to chat the girls up, much to their amusement, while the other members of the band try to overcome their first night nerves and find themselves bickering amongst themselves. Josh (Sonny Flood) has upset the other members of the band and it is down to one of the members of The Saturdays to persuade The Diegos' keyboard player Sasha (Nathalie Emmanuel) to overcome her fears and give it her best shot.

As the competition heats up, The Dirty Diegos take to the stage and after a hesitant start they pull off a great performance but will it be enough to snatch the award?

Lucy Allan, Producer of Late Night Hollyoaks said: "We are very excited to have The Saturdays on board and can't wait to hear their performance – I am sure that they will teach The Dirty Diegos a thing or two!"

The Saturdays said: "We're really excited about being in Late Night Hollyoaks because we love the show! We are a bit nervous though about performing in front of the cast!"

The scenes involving The Saturdays will be filmed at a Liverpool club over the next couple of weeks. Late Night Hollyoaks will be screened on E4 in November.

drewbilation 4th October 2008 04:44 AM

"Crashing Down" has leaked in full. it is veryveryvery amazing. <3

if their b-sides have been this good, I honestly can't wait to hear how the album tracks turn out.

Re:★ 5th October 2008 12:41 AM

The album cover for Chasing Lights is out, isn't it? My and my friend were outraged that Rochelle and Una are wearing the same color dresses! >____<

drewbilation 5th October 2008 06:53 PM

^ I haven't seen it yet. link me plz?

but~ starting Monday, their official MySpace will be uploading 30 second clips of each album track, and the full thing will be available to stream on Channel 4 starting the 13th.

they also performed a bit of "If This Is Love," "Up" and were interviewed yesterday on BBC Sound. Una revealed that Vanessa is most likely to get knocked up by Eddie Murphy lolz!

and, one last thing, the group has taught the dance to "If This Is Love" on Britannia High, and will make a few more appearances within the coming weeks.

aqua_crystal 5th October 2008 06:57 PM

But it may be safe to assume that's why it got pushed back. It definitely gives them a better chance of getting a good sales rank. I really hope they can get Top 5.

drewbilation 7th October 2008 06:36 PM

their MySpace now has a sample of "Keep Her" up.

also, the album cover is out~

drewbilation 10th October 2008 07:42 PM

^ it was removed this morning, but you can still listen here. "Chasing Lights" has now been uploaded.

the girls were also on GMTV this morning: interview and performance.

also, happy 27th birthday to Una today~

aqua_crystal 11th October 2008 06:20 AM

Happy Birthday UNA!!!!

Re:★ 12th October 2008 03:15 AM

Wheeeeeeee! I bought the single off of iTunes! The quality is really nice! But I'm a bit worried because without thinking about it I downloaded the single track by track! So does that mean the download doesn't count towards the chart?! :(

If it it does I'll be so mad! :irked

drewbilation 12th October 2008 03:53 AM

it still counts! but downloading like that just makes it so "Crashing Down" could potentially chart individually instead of bundled with "Up."

drewbilation 13th October 2008 01:34 AM

I thought it was going to flop, but "Up" is doing AMAZING so far: it's currently at no. 16 on iTunes main and no. 8 on pop, no. 7 on Amazon singles chart and no. 3 on HMV pre-order chart.

I just hope they can keep it up for the rest of the week. <3

bondingo 13th October 2008 01:56 AM

Yeah, I hope you haven't spoken too soon. I would love for this single to do really well. It seriously deserves to. I'm more concerned about album sales though, but with the single doing well, there's a much better chance of the album selling well.

drewbilation 14th October 2008 06:03 PM

they're up to no. 2 on iTunes, and no. 4 in the midweeks. they're only 50 copies behind no. 3, though - and that's counting the sales before they go to no. 2 on iTunes.

also, they performed acoustic versions of "Chasing Lights" and "Issues" on MTV Sessions today. very nice!

bondingo 14th October 2008 08:04 PM

The success of Up so far makes me honestly so happy. They really deserve it.

And wow, those performances were flawless. I have to admit, they can all sing (although Frankie isn't that great), and are easily better singers than Girls Aloud as a whole.

drewbilation 15th October 2008 01:47 AM

a preview of "Fall" is now on their MySpace.

bondingo 15th October 2008 01:56 AM

As much as I love their ballads, I do hope that's the last one on their album, because the debut album of a pop group shouldn't be too ballad-heavy.

drewbilation 15th October 2008 02:44 AM

I think "Vulnerable," tomorrow's song, is also a ballad. if it is (and I'm just guessing based on the title), then that's four ballads, which isn't too bad imo.

drewbilation 15th October 2008 04:59 PM

the "Vulnerable" preview is up on their MySpace. it's not quite a ballad, but it's not really uptempo either. it's good, though.

HMV has also uploaded slightly different samples of each track.

bondingo 15th October 2008 08:03 PM

After listening to all the previews, it's clear that this is going to be a solid debut. This is going to be a great album and I'm really hoping the sales reflect that.

drewbilation 19th October 2008 10:37 PM

Cheryl praised The Satz on last night's X-Factor.

also, "Up" is no. 5 for the week on the singles chart. sales will be released tomorrow, but should be around 20k.

Re:★ 19th October 2008 11:43 PM

Woop! Top five! Mollie's interview on Radio One was totally kyoot, she said there was apparently there was rumor going around that Lies was called Pies and was going to be used for Weight Watchers. :lmfao

I loved XF last night, y'all should check out Ruth's performance of Purple Rain! :heart

drewbilation 20th October 2008 12:28 AM

oh, god. I remember that "Pies" rumor from their official forum, which then spread to Wiki.

Quote:

WeightWatchers have also confirmed that The Saturdays second single will be 'Lies'. As part of WeightWatchers 'Biggest Loser' (in weight) campaign, The Saturdays will be re-recording some of the lyrics of the song, which will then be called 'Pies'. This will be released as a B-Side on the single and 5% of the profits from the single will go to the WeightWatchers charity to help its overweight members. The lyrics will only differ slightly from "...all you ever told me, Lies..." to "...all you ever gave me, Pies...". The song is not intended to poke fun, but be something that overweight people can relate to. As part of the campaign, The Saturdays will attend a number of WeightWatchers events close to the release of the single. The single will be relesed in October 2008.
it was shocking how many people believed it, too... lol.

drewbilation 20th October 2008 02:50 PM

sales for "Up" are 26,593 for the week.

also, the full album is available for streaming here.

aqua_crystal 20th October 2008 04:03 PM

^^Wow. Really good sales! And thanks for the link!!

stickyrice 20th October 2008 09:29 PM

The album is fantastic. Chasing Lights is possibly my favourite track on the album. It's amazing!

drewbilation 26th October 2008 11:59 PM

"Up" is no. 6 this week and has sold another 22,539 copies.

Re:★ 27th October 2008 02:56 AM

I noticed that today. Woop woop!

:hat

drewbilation 28th October 2008 11:27 PM

"Chasing Lights" is no. 9 in the midweeks, and "Up" is no. 7.

"Chasing Lights" could easily rise by the end of the week as the girls have a CD singing on the 30th, and will also perform on Live Lounge that morning.

also, the group minus Frankie cooked and performed "Up" on This Morning yesterday. they have a new mic stand routine and the vocals are actually live.

drewbilation 30th October 2008 04:56 PM

The Satz performed "Up" and "Issues" at the National Television Awards last night.

they were also on Live Lounge this morning, performing an acoustic version of "Up" as well as a cover of "Beggin'."

also, happy 19th birthday to Vanessa today! <3

Corybobory 30th October 2008 05:40 PM

I downloaded the album yesterday and am impressed! It's better than I expected. I really like "Issues", "Chasing Lights", and "Keep Her".

JaysenRyan 30th October 2008 09:22 PM

ive listened to this album a billion times already and i have to say "Up" "Keep her" and "Lies" are by far my favorites.

Re:★ 2nd November 2008 06:16 PM

Album just missed the top ten, at #11. Blame Oasis. :P

drewbilation 2nd November 2008 07:34 PM

11's not bad, but it's a bit disappointing after they spent all week at no. 9 in the mids. and since "Up" has just had its third week in the top ten, I don't think we have to worry about them getting dropped right now.

if the next single flops, though, I think they're done. =/

edit~ the album sold 22,294 which is not bad at all for no. 11! they sold about 1k less than Sugababes' album last week, and it was no. 8.

also, "Up" sold another 22,491 copies this week, bringing its total to 71,623.

Wow! Up sold really well!!! And the album didn't sell badly at all!! It sold more than I thought it would at this stage. Plus, #11 isn't such a bad position, considering how new they are....

"Up" was no. 13 last week and sold 19,025 copies, and "Chasing Lights" was no. 21 and sold 13,036 copies. their totals are now 90,648 and 35,429, respectively.

also, on Monday the girls had a shoot for FHM magazine and rerecorded a bit of their next single, "Issues."

they also shot the video on Thursday:

^^Oh so they'll be releasing a video for Issues?! Good choice! Love that song!

drewbilation 15th November 2008 11:17 PM

^ yep. the single itself is supposed to be released in mid-January, so they should be able to get an easy top ten placement, and the video will probably be out sometime in December.

It's too bad the album isn't selling that well. I really want them to have a hit that really boosts them to A-list status. I thought Up might do that but I guess it wasn't huge enough to impact the album sales in a major way.

Apparently, after successfully directing the provocative and elaborately costumed Girls Aloud "Can’t Speak French" video, our man Petro is the ladies choice for Great Britain’s hottest chart topping girl groups, with The Saturdays being the latest to enlist him to direct their most recent video…here's a shot from the set of him wrangling the lovely ladies on a beach clearly far, far, away from Los Angeles:

More to come soon...stay tuned!

definitely a more mature look for them! and I love how they're keeping with their color-coding theme with the umbrellas, but in a much less obvious way. <3

^^Dayum, man!! I loove those umbrellas!! Divas get everything. Seriously.

"Issues" will be released January 5th, and the b-side will be a studio version of "Beggin'."

Oh my God! I loved their Live Lounge version of Beggin', so this is amazing. I can't wait :D

I love Issues! And the picture is great, I love that they are using colors in such a fun and creative way.

I downloaded the album last weekend and it's pretty good for a new group. I really like Up and Work, but I can hardly listen to Issues :/ which sucks since it's the next single haha

THE Saturdays are already planning to re-release their debut album.

Despite having two Top 10 smashes under their belts, blonde Mollie King, 21, told me: "We've decided to relaunch the album on January 5 and we might even add some new tracks.

"People say we've done well but we're not there yet.

"At least we’re not one-hit wonders."

But the popsters, who performed at the launch of Air Asia's new £99 flights from London to Kuala Lumpur, are not quite leading the glam life yet.

Mollie added: "We filmed our next single Issues on a beach – but rather than somewhere hot like Miami we shot it in a freezing Whitstable."

The only way is up ladies…

I'll most likely be buying this.
