who want to become a j-pop singer that does not even live in japan?

I DOOOO!!! lol

Its my dream, I wanted to know if other people shares the same dream as me.

I'd rather be a singer/celebrity in America and be known throughout the world (if I'm lucky) :P

It's been a dream ever since I got into jpop. After seeing Utada and Ayu live out their lives for music and the fun they seemed to have making it, I've always wanted to do the same. I wanted to inspire people with my own lyrics, just as Ayu and Utada do. Although I've been thinking it over....I don't know what I want to do now. I'm learning Japanese but will it be enough to sing in Japan? But of course, Leah Dizon has helped me out greatly, showing me that someone with little knowledge of the language can make it into the music indutry there. Or do I want to try and get a singing career here, in the US?Where I know perfect and fluent english?

Well, that'd be fun ^^. But I suck at singing. At least my English phrases in my J-Pop songs would be perfect :).

I would like to be one but the only thing that's keeping me away from it it's my voice :P

Hm... no, I wouldn't want to be a singer!
I was studying to try to be an actor, and even did some commercials, but now that I'm on college that's kinda on hold.

I am recording a demo cd and going to send it to Sony Music Japan, and see if they like me.

My mom says "Your Spanish and you should be wanting to be a spanish singer"
I always reply "I don't konw spanish"

I wouldn't want to be a celebrity at all, it seems like WAY too much work, and pressure. I wouldn't want to be in the spotlight all the time, I'd HATE it, to have everyone's eyes on me.

nah, I wouldn't want to be a j-pop star. if I were to become a popstar, it'd hopefully be in my own country/language.

and Richard X would produce everything <3

People say I have a good singing voice/sing well. I'd never want to be a singer, much less a JPOP singer. Though I'd LOVE to learn how to play an acoustic guitar so that I'd be able to sing for friends on friends meetings, etc. I find it so charming LOL

I have a terrible singing voice, its kinda raspy and shaky.

I love singing in my spare time and I love Karaoke, but I'd never pursue a career professionally.

I'd love too but I'm already dedicated to other projects lol

If I had the chance then sure. I would join a girl group and be the useless one that just poses :heart

I want to be one because I've always loved singing and love Jpop but Im not skinny enough yet XD

ZOMG i like dream of singing in Japanese, plus I can dance and plus id try hard at the Job, pick me JE!!! I can see it now ill be part of the next boy band group equivalent to News or ARASHI and youll all be dounloading my awesome songs and concerts then my silly fangirls will try to make up gay fantasies with one of the other member of the group XD
but seriously it would be so awesome to be a J-pop performer. Ive already performed in Hip Hop dance competitions and it is really fun, nerveracking but fun!!

I just realized, I don't think I'm womanly enough to be a J-Pop singer :cry There go my dreams of being the next MatsuJun!

if i have the oppoetunity i'd like to be a singer especially in country like japan. but i dont like to be the spotlight most of the time cause its annoyed me, and those rumour (wow, i talk about that again if i have the popularity like ayu) so probably, i'd like to be in a band, playing some stuff, and some stage/costume design which i quite interest^^ sth like kanon wakeshima is good^^ and also i'd like to compose my own songs^^ if i can write melody for my lyrics... :weep and also i hope i can play my cello there \(^O^)/ or electric cello? :P

I have my 3 main hits, either wanna be a DANCER, ACTOR, or A SINGER...but I NEED vocal lessons.

Thanks prussian_blue but I made my demo on MD because my vocal teacher said its better than cd so I can't share...Actually I never shared much on this forum...only 3 songs but 1 or 2 years ago maybe ^_-

Anyway I didn't apply alone...I made a duo with a japanese girl ^^

And I agree with some of you...dont send only to Sony International Audition...try many other auditions..

Avex new audition is AVEX WORLD AUDITION..it means they pick also from oversea (I think..) and Victor also pick from oversea if I'm not wrong..

Tomorrow I will send demo for SONY TOBILABO / VICTOR VS and VICTOR MUSIC+a

I will probably be in Japan next year also, so maybe they can give me a chance ^_^ but i doubt since i havent had much singing lessons at all. Ive been dancing for over 2 years tho and I acted once or twice, but nahhh not gonna happen *blushes*

Thanks everyone ^_^ I also didn't take much vocal lessons..actually I started 6 months ago because in Italy I really didn't have the possibility to do it...but last year I met Joey Carbone and he listened to my demo and he said that I have got possibility if I get better with vocal lessons and I get used to the stage so I started to do some small auditions (the ones that they will pick you if you pay an amount bla bla bla) to get used to it (I was alone back then) but now with the duo and the experience I believe that I will be less nervous.

Yeah! Leah Dizon is a Victor artist but I don't follow her much (I like her songs but I don't think she is a good artist because her lives are -.-)...I like Jero (the black enka singer) who is also Victor that's why I wanna try to get in there ;)

Avex will be the latest audition since it will start in september and it's open to everyone..the other 3 auditions are different, you send the demo and then they will call you ^^

Avex website says that you can't apply if you are married but it's not so..I am married and I called to ask if I can apply or not and they said I can as long as I am not over 24 years old...and I'm 20 yo so it's ok ;)

I suggest to try all the auditions you can...Victor ones looks very interesting cause they're original:

Victor VS is searching for a SINGER and a SOUND CREATOR and when they will choose those 2 then they will work together for the first single of the singer...the new sound creator will do the music of the debut single of the singer they will pick.

Victor Music+a has all the Victor Staff available in different categories (example: 2 persons for POP, 2 persons for RAP etc) and you'll chose who of them will listen to your demo (if you do ROCK MUSIC you will have to choose from the staff for the ROCK category judging by their profile/hobbies/what they are searching for the new artist)

I sing pretty decently, but I don't think I have the mainstream J-pop vocals for a female. ^^'

if i had the voice and was able to, i'd be a jpop singer, lol. but my real career aspiration isn't to be a singer at all.

Oh, definitely. I'd be one of those singers who'd only appear at MelodiX! or MUSIC JAPAN with my trustworthy back-up band. :P Oh and I'd love to co-write and compose stuff. :O And oversee the arranging. Then I'd pop into a radio station or two with my handy interpreter and will hope to hit the top 200~!

That's exactly why you should try it...a different voice in the Jpop Industry is what makes the difference ;)

My voice is not common too of course, but my way of sing is japaneish while my partner (japanese girl) sings american/italian style (kind of mariah carey voice + italian opera voice)

On my demo cds there is:

Suki Sugite Baka Mitai (Def Diva's song) sang by us
Kakegae no nai mono (ZARD's song) sang by me
Dejavu (Beyonce's song) sang by my partner
The meaning of peace (Koda&BoA's song) sang by us

I don't know about AVEX because people who live in Japan directly go to the audition but Victor asks only demo + picture + application form that you will get from the audition you choose (every audition have different form)

I will go to see the Sony Tobilabo auditions on 26th July (its the third stage of the people picked last month) to see how it will be next month if they accept us until that stage ^^

As for me, naw, I wouldn't want to be a j-pop singer. For one, I know I'm a terrible singer; and secondly, I would rather be an American one and become even more popular. :)

In Japan of course, but my genre wouldn't be pop. At first I need some surgery on my eyes so I'd look more asian. I'd hide my real name and tell nobody that I'm actually from Europe. :mini

Except I would be in a Leah Dizon situation of having to like learn the language better and go to a foreign country with different customs and everything. I find her inspiring so that would be awesome if I could do that.

I would like to be a guitarist and go over and work with Hyde and L'Arc for a while though. Perhaps even play lead guitar for Olivia Lufkin's band for a bit. When it comes down to it though, I would rather make it here in the west as an artist then just do tours in Japan. That would be pretty awesome.

About Avex Audition I'm very sorry for the inconvinience but its a mistake..we thought that WORLD AUDITION means they take people all over the world but in the end it means the take PEOPLE FROM ALL NATIONALITIES WHO LIVES IN JAPAN...-_____- it means that if they didnt do that "world" audition and I send a demo to them they won't accept me? I can't believe it...

AHHH......... that's too bad. we must live in japan for joining the audition...

C-Pop/K-Pop singer is good too! But for me Chinese and Korean are very very difficult even with a "romanized" lyric T.T

I'm not a fan of Avex too but it would be pretty impossible to join the companies I love (GIZA and BMG) because BMG has the "ALWAYS SEARCH FOR NEW ARTIST" thing that means they get thousand of demos in a week and they list to half of them and GIZA mostly search for artists in Osaka even if they said that they take also in Tokyo but since ALL their artists are born and raised in Osaka and that they way of saying that they would accept demo from Tokyo too makes me think that I have no hope XD I don't want the demo sending audition, I want the live audition ^^

There's always the learning option hehe.
