Are you interested in K-Pop?
 

Hey! I would like to know if you guys are interested in K-Pop. I've been thinking of doing a K-Pop download thread since I've became a huge fan of K-Pop (and recently, even more than J-Pop) but I'm not sure if there's many people in AHS that are interested in it.

I see a lot of people that only listen to J-Pop and a few that only listen to either BoA or Wonder Girls as K-Pop artists. But there's so many great K-Pop artists to discover (I'm still discovering it!) and I would like to share some recommendations. If people are interested in it of course. (I'm kinda lazy to upload stuff... XD)

So yeah, tell me what you think.

i would love to hear more K-pop, i've been thinking about getting into it, just never remembered

i only listened to one song by epik high
have 3 albums of Clazziquai....but only listen to 1 song in them

so yeah, i really need a lot of recommendations/help with k-pop

Yeahh... I really like the idea of a K-pop download thread. I do love some K-pop singers and it's really hard to find their stuff...

I like only 3 korean albums of BoA and Seo Taiji's Blind Love and naran ayo :yes

I'm into K-pop, even if not totally hXc. I almost only listen to female vocals except for Epik High, and I'm mostly interested in dance/techno artists.

My faves are: Lee Jung Hyun, Uhm Jung Hwa, Epik High, Wonder Girls, Chae Yeon, Lee Hyori, Cherry Filter, and Kara.

I might make a K-Pop download thread then! Don't expect boybands like SuJu, DBSK, SS501, Big Bang... I only like SHINee and I have an album of DBSK only. XD Don't expect SE7EN and Rain either.

Wow, I'm surprised to see that another person here likes them! They are so underrated!

I am. I've dabbled in BoA and Dong Bang Shin Ki (well actually I happen to like them a lot...) and SE7EN of course but I'd really like to know about more....

Meh, K-Pop is kinda boring to me. I only like BoA, Wonder Girls, Younha, and Cherry Filter. I'm not too big of a fan of K-Pop; I'm kinda the odd one out among my Korean friends because I'm way more into J-Pop than I am into K-Pop. :laugh J-Pop is just a lot more appealing to me. :P

In addition, I think the Japanese language sounds a lot nicer than the Korean language. I still think the Korean language can sound pretty, but it can also sound pretty rough. I guess that's another reason why I like J-Pop more than K-Pop.

K-Pop actually played a HUGE part in the beginning of my Asian music venture. I started with Hikki and Ayu, and then got heavily into Rain and Se7en. Today my fav artists are Wonder Girls, SHINee, Big Bang, Tae Yang, Super Junior, Girls Generation, Se7en and Rain :heart

I'm really into K-pop now. very urban and r&b

I think Korean language is beautiful. It can sound a bit more rough in talking. But in singing, :heart.

I love k-pop. Several times each year, there are some very good Korean concerts in Los Angeles. It's amazing that many of the best Korean groups and singers come for these shows.

I like K-Pop. It's nice.

I like some of BoA's, DBSK's and Super Junior's songs, but I rarely like the whole albums (besides No.1 and SORRY, SORRY) there are also a couple of H.O.T, Ivy, Epik High and Loveholic songs I like.

I don't know why but somehow I just don't find K-pop so interesting and worth listening like I find J-pop. o.O I have tried to figure out this but I still haven't got any idea why. I have heard couple of korean pop songs and I just thought "oh okay, this ain't my thing". :D

Definitely not. And I never will be. I mean I'll listen to BoA's Girls On Top but that's as far as I'm going. Kpop (!IMO IMO IMO!) is really boring, repetitive, and overrated.

Ugh Girls on Top was terrible. I liked BoA's earlier works, both Korean and Japanese, but everything started going downhill much like K-pop has gone in general.

K-pop was great in the 90s now its pretty much dead. I do like Se7en but he hasn't come out with anything decent since his whole transition into the U.S. phase. Groups like Big Bang, Wonder Girls, Afterschool make me wanna puke :puke

^lol yeah...all those groups x_x. I dont really like the Girls on Top album...I just meant the one song, Girls on Top LMAO

:no i really don't like the way the language sounds. i like japanese music because i think the laguage sounds good without even knowing what the words mean, korean just doesn't sound good to me. i don't like spanish music either or most other foreign languages. i don't even like polish music and i am polish because i don't think it's a nice language to sing. :laugh

Yeah, I'm interested in it. Though I think that most of the time, K-pop artists will release an album or mini-album with like one or two REALLY good songs and the rest are bad or mediocre. Their really good songs are so interesting though that it takes forever to get tired of them. And I think Koreans are the best singers in Asia, plus the Korean language sounds pretty.

and just recently I have been listening to Girls' Generation.

Yeah I'm interested in it. Its not like OBSESSIVE with all of these boy/girl groups (so... so... so... many and they JUST KEEP COMING!!! :O) but I do like a lot of whats being released. I'm in a BEG/TVXQ/BoA/Rain/2PM/G-Dragon/Younha phase. And with G-dragon I'm just constantly listening to Heartbreaker still... haha. Can't help it. I go through ultimate phases with that song. One day I'll hate it... and then for the next MONTH I can't stop listening to it. So addictive. Same thing with Abracadabra.

Sorry Sorry, Mirotic, Genie (Tell me your Wish), Gee, Bo Peep, Oh! (SNSD), Heartbreaker, to name a few. I'm always up for recommendations, as long as they're catchy. For whatever reason I can listen to ANYTHING of Jpop, but when it comes to Kpop it must be pop/dance or mainstream. :P

how about. can someone introduce to me to a kpop artists . . .that doesnt sound like every washed out american boy band from the early 2000s. and girl groups that have sincerely deep and unique songs that arent overly generic? please. then ill listen to kpop ^___~ (btw i liked BoA but then i was like. i could just listen to Beyonce or something XD) (can u try to relate to my opinion too. i know its hard)

to me kpop is like rap music. i will dance to it at a dance or party (im not club age yet XD)
but it lacks any sentimental value for me and does nothing special or surrealish for me
and typically it sounds generic and the boy bands sound the same to my ears who have gotten over american boy bands after i turned 7 yrs old. they sing but to me they dont make music.

ive listenend to a few more popular songs from each band and frankly im not gonna be hearing kpop at dances (except the multicultral club full of koreans at my school that im in that used a little for the dance contest)

Yes :yes (checking OMONA they didn't LJ many times per day xD) And it's not only DBSK and BoA. I don't have a band/artist which I don't like. But I can't keep up with that huge number of boybands and girlband nowadays xDDD

I could help you, but what kind of music do you like? As in, what genre? Pop, urban, hip-hop, indie pop, indie rock, modern rock, alternative, bossa nova, electronica, acid jazz, lounge, acoustic, r&b?

Also, anything that is popular is usually "generic". Yes, there's a lot of catchy pop songs in Korea that are really popular but don't necessarily have deep lyrics. But there's so much more to discover. For example, SNSD's hits are mostly "generic". But they also have really powerful and beautiful ballads. Like almost all girl groups (After School, KARA, Secret, Wonder Girls...). But excluding groups like 2NE1 and 4minute that has only released dance songs so far. Most groups will promoted catchier and brighter song because they are usually bigger hits. But it doesn't mean they only sing dance songs. ;)

SNSD's "Dear Mom" always makes me wanna cry. :cry

Yes, I looooove Kpop. I used to not, though. I mean, aside from the occasional BoA song in Korean and some really random stuff like OST songs, I just didn't listen to Kpop at all. One day a friend of mine let me listen to an OST song from Jisun (Farewell Without Farewell) and it got me interested in her, so I checked out the song she did with Epik High (One) and just fell in love from there. <3
