~About alan~

Alan Dawa Dolma, referred to as alan is a Chinese singer of Khampa Tibetan descent who made her Japanese-language debut in 2007 with the single Ashita e no Sanka. She is the first and still the only singer from mainland China signed by Avex Trax to release Japanese songs, and her designated producer and composer is Kikuchi Kazuhito. alan is a devout Buddhist and all of her songs deal with love, hope, peace and the environment.

Yeah I totally agree that alan's not-so-popularity IS avex's fault. I mean, if avex promoted her previous singles more, surely the would have reached the Top 10. See what happened when they promoted Natsukashii Mirai??? If alan's album flops, it's totally avex's fault. It's definetly not alan's mistake. (Well, of course it isn't! All her single released so far are amazing! All alan can to do create more songs. The rest is up to avex.....)

and...i think avex isn't giving alan that much of attention...they're all busy with namie and ayu~ i mean they should give alan more attention, cause it's either make or break with her debut album, i mean if people don't even know her, how will anyone even know she have an amazing voice and range~....i hope the water single have a tie-in, maybe a CM~...well i can wish..>_<

^ all we can do is hope for the best after RED CLIFF comes out, im sure she will gain popularity after thats released

i just hope that just the popularity of red cliff will be enough for her album to sell well..maybe that's why avex doesn't really promote alan that much, they probably think having a song as the theme for red cliff is enough to catapult alan into the spotlight~

^ yeah i think so too well any artist to have their song as theme song is kinda enough to promote itself i guess but is red cliff even released yet in japan ?

The weird thing is, avex is pouring lots of money into making her Japanese better, and they've given her really nice photoshoots and PVs, so I wonder why they fall short on promo.

I actually didn't download alan's PVs either, of course, I plan to buy the CD+DVDs though

oh very soon then! i hope when people in japan watch the movie..that they'll notice a girl named "alan"(well i hope they know it's a girl @_@) sang the theme song..i just hope for the japanese channels on tv, they'll cover RED CLIFF, and in the mean time be promoting alan like "wow, this amazing person sang the theme song, her single is out" etc., things like that~

when it comes to my favourite artists i download loads of their stuff and buy/or will buy their products as soon as i get the money, so i dont think its a bad thing if you download their stuff.

well i plan on buying her debut album CD+DVD, so downloading isn't a bad thing..unless all you do is download, and never buy even your fave artist's material~

What I'm afraid of is that avex will allow the popularity of RED CLIFF to do the job for them, and they won't promote the water single. Hopefully that won't be the case. And thanks mcken for all your contributions!!! :D

yeah Sora Uta's fantastic :yes , too bad it didn't managed to crack the top20 , I thought it had a chance especially Kaze no Tegami :(

I think the water single is a test. If RED CLIFF is enough to self-promote her, then the water single will sell well and they don't have to worry about promotion. If it doesn't sell well then they know they have to get their act together and hurry to promote the album.

But to be honest. I think they're paying a lot more attention to alan than they are with other artists. I constantly see alan's pictures advertising her releases next to Ayu's on websites. Normally the smaller artists don't really get anything.

And I think Kaze no Tegami sold amazingly considering it got NO promotion whatsoever.

yeah & you look at the way the covers of her singles are , they're so pretty & it keeps getting better from her 3rd single onwards in terms of design & etc

alan is like sand...she's all loose, it's unclear for now, but after lightning strikes(big sales) then you'll see a gorgeous shiny glass~
she's still raw and her success all depends on the decisions that avex makes!

I don't like the PV it's very depressing stuff . The song's already depressing & then the PV just didn't make things any better although I do admit the CD + DVD cover's hotter

I hope the local HMV can import the CD only edition over from Japan cos I can just download the PVs of alan from the net & now my laptop can't play region code 2 dvds anymore :(

although the dvd player in the living room can play region code 2 dvds but still ...

The RED CLIFF PV is simply beautiful. Its kind of calm in a way, but oh so pretty. Depressing, but in a beautiful way. Aaaaaw.

Though, it looks like they made the right choice for Kaze no Tegami, based off the bonus video showing the cover photo shoot, a lot of the others weren't too focused, XD

Avex feels they're spoiling us too much if they give us beautiful covers.
I find it funny how avex puts alan's new releases next Ayu's but her sales never really go anywhere.

On the bright side, she's doing quite well if you put her current single sales up against, say, Hitotsu.
