Welcome To The Thirteenth Official Arashi Thread !

If I had to sum up this group in one word, it’d be “loveable”. They’re not an average boy band that bops around stage and lip syncs their songs while dancing provocative dances. The Stormy Boys are known and respected for their many works outside of the music world. Because of these ventures, their popularity has risen and keeps rising as their tenth anniversary nears.

What other boy band do you know that has balanced an extremely successful music career with acting careers and TV hosting careers? Not many, right? Over the course of their time in Johnny’s Jimusho, the Arashi boys have been in numerous successful dramas, hosted 11 shows (currently hosting three) and broadcast a weekly radio program. If that’s not hard work, I don’t know what is.

Things for the group haven’t always been so happy. Back in 2004, Aiba suffered pnuemothorax, the collapse of one lung due to immense pressure change in the chest cavity, which set the group back. Although Aiba felt he was just bothersome to the other members while he was hospitalized, the others thought otherwise. Even though he limited their promotional activities, all they thought about was his recovery. There’s also been scandals, like the one involving Nino and Masami Nagasawa and their “dating”. The incident got so serious, that jealous fans who bought tickets to their Time concert last summer had planned to get up and leave the venue when Nino began to sing. And of course we can’t forget Aiba’s scandalous photos being leaked by his ex-girlfiend. You know, the ones with him lying shirtless in bed with her? Aiba was almost suspended from Johnny’s for incident! And the recent fracture of Sho’s thumb during a rehearsal has risen fears for his health during their ever strenuous schedule. Although Arashi has had a few setbacks, they still continue to press forward!

But music is their primary focus of course, and their musical career has been nothing but an achievement. They debuted with their first single “A·RA·SHI” in November of 1999 and this single went on to become the highest first week single sales by a group. They held this award for seven years until KAT-TUN’s debut, “REAL FACE”, overtook it. Seven years is amazing, ne? And their musical success just hasn’t stopped yet, with the second highest single of last year and the current third highest selling single this year, Arashi’s music popularity is going great.

Although it may seem like the boys are serious workaholics, their fans recognize them as a group full of dorks. And these dorks happen to be the best of friends and have been for over 9 years. They aren’t just actors, singers, hosts, or performers - Arashi is a simply a family.

- Oldest Arashi member
- Even though he's the oldest, he's looks like one of the youngest, ne?
- He was chosen to be Arashi's leader through a Rock-Paper-Scissors game, he still wishes Sho had won instead of him.
- A known mama's boy, it's been said that he still allows his mother to buy clothes for him.
- Also known as Riida or Captain
- Has been known for his amazing artistic ability, allowing him to even tour Japan with his art exhibit, "Freestyle" which has also spawned a successful photobook.

- Arashi's animal lover, which explains his weekly appearance on Tensai! Shimura Dobutsuen to play with wild animals
- He's been known for his expert English.
- He's also a little ditzy, deciding to join Johnny's only with the dream of meeting his idol Miyake Ken and playing basketball with SMAP.
- He's known affectionately to fans as Aibaka for his often stupid statements of the obvious and such.
- He did his first solo butai last fall, which got great reviews by the critics
- He has a large birthmark that covers his left should to his upper arm, he likes it, but hates it when editors airbrush it out.

- Sho is known as Keio Boy throughout Johnny's Jimusho since he attended the prestigious college.
- He set the example for many of his kouhai that it's possible to attend college and still work, now many kouhai are attending university.
- Although he looks the most manly in Arashi, Sho is actually the biggest scaredy-cat.
- Hosts the popular news show, News ZERO, which he'll be covering the 2008 Olympics for.
- He writes all of the raps for Arashi's songs
- He studied English in university, so his pronunciation is really good. He also took Chinese in Junior High.

- The prankster of Arashi
- Has made his Hollywood debut in Clint Eastwood directed film, "Letters from Iwo-jima", which won him loads of praise
- Has composed and written many of his solo songs.
- He's a confessed game freak, he's been known to play his DS for hours.
- Knows how to play both piano and guitar very well.
- Is ambidextrous, but prefers to use his left hand.

- The fashionista of ARASHI, in fact: He didn’t like the HYD curly hairstyle because of the fashion problems it posed on him. When he was on set, it was fine because he had costumes, but once he was out, he couldn’t find anything in his wardrobe to compliment his curly hairstyle.
- Matsujun is considered an elite in Johnny's, because he is one of the three in his batch to join Johnny's Entertainment without having to audition.
- He's been known to be the "bait" for for Arashi, bringing in fans with his good look and acting ability.
- He's the most serious in Arashi about their work, he wants everything to be perfect for them.
- The youngest member of Arashi.

That's cool that One Love's being shortlisted although frankly it's not a song that can make me cry . Be with you can though . Now whenever I hear Be with you , I always remember the part where Aiba cried in their Time Summer Final Tour DVD :(

I wouldn't call myself a 'real' Arashi fan but... I love their variety shows. They are so stupid together. Especially at last week's "Himitsu no Arashi-chan" where they did another haunted house outing. I decided I would want to go places with Leader because he's completely unshakeable.

Anyhow, tonight's Himitsu no Arashi-chan was SO FUNNY. The last segment (Arashian Roulette) had them trying to pick the new-halves who had the least amount of plastic surgery.

same here, i only saw half of an episode of bambino and it didn't really interest me, lol. i hope he has a new drama next year.

^Well, I think it gradually gets better. I just finished watching it 1 or 2 weeks ago. It's a nice watch overall, but not a dorama one HAS to see.

I only find Bambino ! a-ok , it's nothing mind blowing frankly so to speak

I actually heard Nino's version of Friendship first then Aiba's version. Both versions are really good, I love this song!

Friendship's cute , in fact I don't mind all of Aiba's solos even though by right he's not the best vocalist in the band but still have to give him credit for being able to pull things off especially in DAL

^I don't know anything about singing techniques and the like, but I don't think that Aiba is that bad of a singer. It's probably that his voice is very distinctive.

aiba sings pretty good, he's not the worst. his voice makes him different, though, since it's high pitched. but i just LOVE his laugh, haha.

i think i have to like, cut j-dramas i wanted to see down to one show this season (i'll probably watch RnK weekly). i'm being super studious this quarter in school. :P and i'll have to watch all the others during winter vacation. :lmfao

call me crazy, but um. i really don't think HYD is that ~amazing~. i love it, duh, but i don't really feel the same way about it as other people do. i wouldn't even put it on my top 5, maybe top 10, but definitely not top 5.

heck, i didn't see HYD until HYD2 was announced.

i'm just in one of my "obsess over a drama with a JE actor" moods, lol. it goes away quickly, since i'm home and have nothing else to think about :laugh but i personally thought it was good. not cause i'm a sucker for matsujun and romance, haha, but i just hate how in season 2, they just dragged out everything. the whole shigeru situation made me soooo angry :eviltongu if only i watched HYD2 back in '07, though. someone should have introduced me to JE sooner :weep

I think MatsuJun has the weakest voice in Arashi, sorry. Like in the beginning of "We can make it!". I don't think he's the best to pull of no music+singing. MatsuJuns rapping voice is better, though.

I already mentioned before that except for I Want Somebody , I do not like his solos especially for Naked which's EEW

& I personally think the guys should just leave the rapping to Sakurai

the 2nd season's a bit samey , the parts where Shun Ogri acted in that Hanazawa supposedly like like Inoue Mao's Makino character , that wasn't convincing to me

i like it, but not as much as i loved truth, lol. but this song fits the drama well, i think, so it's all good. plus, it sounds really different compared to their other singles from this year. :yes it really is a beautiful song, lol.

yea, and those piano sounds in the bridge are so nice, lol. it's just a sweet song, nothing over the top or powerful. reminds me of WISH almost, haha.

I liked it as well. It has a christmas feel to it. I guess since truth was a powerful rockish song, they decided to slow it down a bit and go with a family like theme (and of course because of the drama. lol). Did anyone else get a christmas pic of Jun as the promo pic with the song? Lol I thkink it's cute. :heart
