Asia Tour 2008 to be aired in November
 

the 'ayumi　hamasaki　ASIA　TOUR　2008～10th　Anniversary～' is going to be aired on TV
somewhere in November. Channel TBS will broadcast the 6/29 Yoyogi live,
which was the finale of the domestic leg of the tour.
the exact date of broadcast is yet to be revealed.

Of course it's kind of cool to be able to watch the video of the show so early on.
But it's also a bit weird, since the tour's technically not even over yet. And what
about its DVD-release. How many people will buy the DVD if the video has already
been aired on TV.
Nevertheless; can't wait =)

Maybe they're planning to split up the DVDs for the 10th anniversary: The "standard" edition is probably just a touched up version of the TV version, a second special one might be a little more polished or even feature stand-out performances from other shows, and the third is probably just a massive gift of random stuff XD

I'm excited to hear this, even though I don't live in Japan and probably won't be able to see it unless someone is generous and uploads it somehow... :innocent

this is unexpected...o_O...I'm happy I get to watch it sooner. I guess it shouldn't affect the sales too much...all the countdown lives were broadcast on tv and they sold decently especially 07-08. Maybe they'll put the Taiwan finale on dvd?

They might indeed release a "regular" edition very soon.

But they might not and we'll have to wait another few months for the DVD ^__^

Have there been TV versions of her previous tours in the past? Meaning, have any of her other shows been aired on television besides CDLs? I could almost swear that DOME TOUR 2001 and STADIUM TOUR 2002 were televised...

This could only help the sales and bring Ayu's concerts close to people who are not her fans. Plus she had her tours air before, and every CDL was aired and I didn't see the last one had poor sales ^^ YAY! I can't wait!

They've aired some concerts on TV before (Stadium Tour 2002, A Museum, and the Limited TA Tour), so I'm kinda not surprised they're airing this one on TV, too. (I was actually surprised they didn't air last year's tour on TV.)

Nonetheless, I'm excited!! lol I hope my friend or I show up on the video, haha!!! (We were at the 6/29 concert. ^^)

1. Ayu's almost ALWAYS had her tour broadcast on TV before the DVD was released. I have NO IDEA why any of you are worried about that o_O

2. Why would this mean no CDL? What happens on TV doesn't mean ayu's doing any extra work. It's not like a live broadcast or anything, it's been filmed already.

Which other tours were broadcast? I don't think it was meant like it's gonna take up her time, but that it looks like a replacement on their TV schedule if people expect to see ayu in concert on TV around that time.

This probably suggests that the DVD version will be filmed else where. But that's just me thinking about previous TV versions that were aired. It could be the same one as the DVD like what BoA did with her Arena Tour last year.

I also think it's quite appropriate it's on TV, her last aired tour was A MUSEUM and that was to celebrate 30 singles, and now this tour is to celebrate 10 years in the business.

I'm just happy to see performances of those GUILTY songs. Can't wait.

The DVD version might have different camera angles and better production, I believe that's happened in the past with the CDL lives?

OR I'm hoping the DVD might be the actual last concert this time - the Taiwan concert. That would be awesome, but might not appeal as a DVD in Japan of a concert outside their own country. Who knows...

I hope that the idea of not wanting to watch a show that isn't in their country isn't an actual sticking point for Japanese fans. Wouldn't the attraction of the DVD be the content of it, meaning the fact that it's an Ayu show, thus making where it was filmed irrelevant? :shrug That's my thoughts about it, anyway. I think it's pretty cool if artists release DVDs from different countries besides their home ones; it's nice to see the difference in the crowd, how the set needs to be adjusted or even how the artist(s) interact with a different audience.

The only argument against it that I can see is then they wouldn't be able to relive the show -- if they indeed went to the final show -- but that's not a big deal, either. How many of us fans who don't live in Japan haven't had that experience XD?

It's not like it's the first time a tour has a TV version, but it has been a long time since last for sure.
CONCERT TOUR 2000 (both vol's), DOME TOUR 2001, STADIUM TOUR 2002, TA Live Tour, A museum and part of AT 2003-2004 all had TV versions.

Almost everything they do in Japan is in HD. Doubt anyone will share the whole thing in full HD though (not here at least).

For one this year the tour ends really late, so if she's doing a CDL08-09 I was expecting it to be like Arena Tour 2003-2004, where it's just an additional gig of the Asia Tour 2008.

Secondly, though it is her 10th anniversary, she has never broadcasted an "A"T before (Arena/Asia tour) which leaves me to wonder why they're doing it this year.

Thirdly, the broadcast is strangely close to the CDL08-09, and I find it a little hard to imagine that they would broadcast two concerts in two months time.

I personally think (but not hope at ALL) that they're broadcasting AT08 instead of CDL08-09, because either she's too busy to do a new CDL08-09 or it will be an additional gig of AT08. Heck, maybe they want her to be in the picture because around that time they'll announce a new single. :3

I'm still hoping there'll be a CDL08-09, though..

I think they are planning on doing a 10th anniversary special dvd set or something, maybe with an extra DVD or by including footage from Asia. Knowing avex they'll try to milk this 10th anniversary thing for quite a long time so it makes sense they want to air it.

I hate TV versions. They are always modified. These doesn't even have all the perfomances. It's annoying. :D But anyways, I think I'm still gonna watch it. Just because I want to see Mirrorcle World performance. :D

Or maybe they want to make an special end of the 10th anniversary tour and then release in tDVD this last special concert... in DOME or sth!! and for that they are showing the "normal" tour... it would be great!! jajaja who knows... jejeje

The TV deal is probably worth more than what Avex gets for DVD sales. Does TBS have an HD channel? It would be awesome to see the concert in HD. I'm not counting on a blu-ray release anytime soon.

Hmm I dunno. I don't think they'll do that. CDLs have all songs in TV and DVD version, and there have been previous concerts where the DVD version actually has -less- songs than the TV version. :3

I don't think they'll cut many performances if any. Which other Ayu concert TV version have they done that other than the TA Live Tour? Usually, it's the other way around.

I also just thought of something. If she doesn't have a new album by CDL08-09, she won't have any new songs to perform other than some single songs.. But in previous CDLs, she always does new songs. Which makes me doubt that there will be a CDL08-09 at all. >< It could also be the reason why CDL08-09 and Asia Tour 2008 were on such a high budget with all the props and stuff
