Beyoncé Giselle Knowles (born September 4, 1981) is an American R&B singer-songwriter, record producer, and actress. Knowles rose to fame in the late 1990s as the lead singer of girl group Destiny's Child , the best-selling girl group of all time. After a series of commercial successes with the group, Knowles released her debut solo album, Dangerously in Love, in June 2003 and her sophomore solo album, B'Day, in 2006. The success of her solo albums has established Knowles as one of the most marketable artists in the industry. She has added acting and endorsement deals to her repertoire. I Am... is going to be her third solo studio album and is to be released on November 18, 2008. This is a double disc album, representing herself and on-stage persona, Sasha Fierce. The first disc, I Am... Beyoncé, will feature a predominate classic R&B-jazz sound while Fierce's disc, entitled I Am... Sasha, will have a hip-hop-dance vibe. [4] Knowles also plans to release a DVD of music videos for every track in February 2009, along with a Spanish version of "I Am..."

Weird, I was looking for the Beyonce thread last night because I wanted to talk about the new album.

I absolutely love the idea behind it. Concept albums can be amazing, and this one sounds like it will be really great. If I Were A Boy is beautiful and kind of haunting, and Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) is really catchy. I'm definitely buying I am...

there is nothing wrong with the person on the cover :laugh , but the pose on
the "DELUXE" Editon is so so. I dunno. Maybe the'll grow on to me but right now .. :no

I thought the original name of the album was I Am...? DDD: She was on BET the other day and I believe she said that it was called I Am... =/ Her videos even said "I Am..." Maybe that's a scan of the promo pic of something like that. Either why I like it and I luff the way she's evolved herself with this album. Both singles are really good but Sasha's song is waaaaaaay better then Beyonce's song. :yes I'm definitely buying this album...but I'm gonna wait till the deluxe version comes out. I don't wanna waste money on the first edition knowing that a Deluxe version is gonna come out. Plus, she's doing a video for every single video which is very creative idea coming from an American artist if you get what I mean. lol

Do you think she will release the deluxe verison at the same time though? Cause if not she pretty much killed her sales for the first couple weeks..at least with B'day the deluxe version wasn't announced until the original album was out for a few monthes.

^Nah I htnk she'll release the deluxe in March or April. lol As you know most American artists wait a few months to release their Deluxe versions (ie Justin released the deluxe version of FS/LS a whole year after the original was released). It's very stupid that american companies do that but guess they do it boost sales.

IMO, If I Were A Boy is a ballad version of Ciara's Like A Boy. I liked how the video started off because B looked so beautiful and the words they were speaking to each other was kinda heart-felt to me. lol But yea Sasha definitely blew B out the water with Single Ladies.

I just hope I Am... Beyonce isn't ballad filled while I Am... Sasha is dance filled. =/ I want it to be a mix because I'm not a fan of listening to the same genre-song-every-track. Mix it a lil you know. lol

^That's one of the main problems I have with American female artists these days. They sing about heartbreak and needing love too much...and it's mostly about the same stuff. It's like, ugh, just because you've had a freak'n bad day...don't make my day bad as well. lol You know, I've never really had a problem with any of Beyonce's ballads tho. Dangerously in Love is her best ballad ever. Ugh, it's so powerful. It makes me wanna cry every time I hear it. :weep

^I think the problem is that THESE songs are the ones the good singers can prove that they can sing.

They can do their UUUHS and AAAHS and scream their lungs out to impress
a bright audience with their voice without being put into a cliche of not being able to sing.

Please, she needs to wait at least 5 more years to put out another album. I'm still sick of her ass since "B'Day".

She is so overexposed it's not even funny. Does she really need to do a Spanish EP, a rerelease that's already planned, a video for every single track on both discs and a 100+ city tour? :rolleyes She is someone that people get sick of easily, she needs to tone it down a notch.

I'm not liking the covers. Why is everything black and white with this release? First the videos and now the covers. I really want some color :(

^Erm, I wouldn't be much of a "deluxe" it was released first. :lmfao Deluxes are released to simply help the album's sales. It's not much different from what Japanese artists do. CD and CD+DVDs are simply released together to get the costumer to buy both versions in order to help the album's sales.

OMG! Why must you say meaning things about Beyowulf? :weep She is pure awesomness like her music. IMO, she's one of the few American artists who I can say never disappoints me when it comes to music. Her first two albums were pure hawtness and I know that I won't be wasting my money buying I Am...

As for her releases, I think her releasing a spanish EP is really neat/nice of her to do something like that bcoz it shows that she's try'n to reach deeper into the Spanish audience by singing in Spanish. Besides, Beyonce really enjoys learning new things about different cultures especially the Hispanic culture. The whole PV for every track is genius okay. Yeah yeah Kuu did the same thing but this is something unheard of in the America (I know you know that. :bchuck). I have no problem with her doing the rerelease because I know to save money and wait to the CD+DVD version comes out and not feel cheated out of money like I was when B'Day Deluxe released. :yes

As for her touring, I never go to her concerts so I don't really care if she tours 10 cities or 100 cities. She's just gonna release it on DVD anyway. So I'll be saving lots of money by buying the DVD instead of attending the concert. :P

And only the haters get sick of her. She's a very hardworking woman who is very dedicated to her work. I admire her a lot. I don't think I'll ever get tired of Queen B. :tipsy

I'll wait for the CD+DVD version, I didn't even know American releases had that outside of "Deluxe" or "Limited" edtions <_<;;; I don't buy much American music xD;..... But I will buy this <3

I really don't think Beyonce's trying to be white. She likes to straighten her hair, and she seems to have a lighter shade of skin for someone who's black, but I hardly think she's actually trying to be white, or like a white person. I think Beyonce is her own person and her style is just what appeals to her (provided she isn't just told to look that way, which she could be; then it definitely isn't her fault).

^Beyonce's true skin tone is the one on the right. DDD: Her skin tone is more of light caramel. I believe that she gets airbrushed to a dark color for certain events or whatever. That pic on the left looks like the photographer's camera color settings is set to make the photos come out darker than the normal settings for most cameras.

I really can't explain the darking for her Dangerously In Love except that her skin tone was specifically darkened to give out a 70s theme-like skin tone (???). I didn't explain that right but if you look at photos when she was younger and when she with DC, you can clearly see what her true skin tone is like.

You can get darker skin when you're in the sun for too long. It's called a tan.

^Hmmm, okay. Maybe I was off a little then. But she just seems so much darker than the skin tone I remember seeing her have especially in her B'day cover and DC days.

A couple of picture when she was in DC. I know since I have light brown skin that it has a tendency to change tint. If I haven't been in the sun for a while, I get lighter. But if I stay in the sun constantly my skin gets darker and darker. Our skin gets a tan and we can lose the tan.

It was a TMZ article :laugh It's actually quite tame, I was reading others written by black writers and they really ripped Beyonce a new one for that comment.

But Beyonce is definitely going for a race-less image, IMO. She's trying to appeal to white, black and Hispanic audiences, but she just ends up looking really strange. Half the time I mistake her for Mariah Carey, who is African-American and Euro-American, and Shakira, who is Spanish, Italian and Lebanese. But back in the day she actually looked black, because she was targeting African-American listeners. Now I feel like she's lost a lot of that realness.

^Beyonce has another heritage in her but I forgot. I think it was Native American or something of that sort. =/ Her mom is mixed.

Yeah, her moms is Native American, African American and French. But Beyonce's gotta be at least 3/4 black.

This is what this L'Oreal controversy is really about. The media have this image of what being black is but a lot of us don't look like that. Black people don't come in one shade. Some of us choose to straighten our hair because it's a pain to deal with otherwise. They don't know what being really black is. Some of us go crazy trying to look like what people think we should look like. We change color depending on the amount of sun. A tan. There is no such thing in America as race-less. We have to have a race. Beyonce is Black in America and no amount of airbrushing is going to change that. It's useless.

LOL, I'm sorry but no black people have platinum blonde hair and bleached skin like Beyonce. Her stans can argue til the cows come home that black people come in all shades (which I'm well aware of) but she has done a lot to look almost Barbie-like. I mean, isn't Solange the one who actually bleached her own baby? Between the lightening creams, the blonde dye and the plastic surgery, Bee is really gunning for this ~racially ambiguous~ image but it's really just alienating a lot of people from her.

Mary J Blige dyed her hair blond and she isn't trying to attract whites. Bee only alienates the narrow minded people who won't let go of what black beauty is supposed to be. You can post pictures of those kids who have naturally blonde hair (but mind you they only number in the thousands in the entire world) but it's not going to stop the controversy.
